There was a Pikashort where Ash celebrated his birthday. Are shorts canon?
If anything, it's probably safer bet to go with the original, rather than the dub. Since the dub, most importantly by 4kids, really liked messing around with the script, and either make it more heart wrenching, or more hopeful and light hearted than it actually was. Like remember about Brock's mother being supposedly dead? Nope, just only in the dub, where she's later revealed and shown to be alive the whole time. As the original just said she split, and left the family, for a reason or another. Being just about as deadbeat as the dad was.
So in this case, Ash never promised anything to Pidgeot, and is mostly left to be a guardian, to watch over the other Pidgeys and Pidgeottos.
That makes the age thing even weirder. It means that Ash is 11 in the Sun and Moon anime, but in Journeys, which is literally after Sun and Moon, he is 10 again. So not only he doesn't get older. He actually gets younger.
Well near the end of season 1, I forget where, ash and friends return somewhere (it’s been a while) where he says “wow, it’s already been a year” or something like that which must mean that he’s been 11 since season 1.
I think they should be wanting us to forget that a 10 year old left his home unsupervised with only 2 teenagers looking out for him. He didn't even start the journey with Misty and Brock. He just found them.

Ash has never actually claimed he was gonna catch them all his goal was always to become a pokemon master. The catch phrase, "gotta catch em all", was only in the English theme song. In the Japanese anime those words are never mentioned.

in the Japanese version (the original), Ash never said he would come back for pidgeot, the english translators did it
In the JP version he said he'd return after they finished their errand.

Ash has canonically celebrated the one-year anniversary of the start of his journey, as well as reaching Viridian City... yet hasn't acknowledged the birthday that should've happened in that one year time span.
There’s another problem with the number one pick. In the Pokémon Master Journey’s episode that sees Ash and Goh participate in a race in Alola it shows that Ash has some familiarity with Passimian when he helps Goh lure some out so he can catch one. This shows a major inconsistency with the dub because for those that only watch dub exclusively and aren’t aware of the controversy surrounding this episode it would undoubtedly leave them scratching their heads asking why is Ash so familiar with them when he’s never encountered them before.
It’s like the banned porygon episode. If you were, let’s be honest, fortunate enough to not have seen that episode there’s one thing in it that made everyone confused. Believe it or not, that episode is how he has ALL of those turos

I am tired of some people claiming that Pidgeot situation was a dub error WHICH WASN'T ACTUALLY. In Japanese version Satoshi (Ash) tells Pidgeot''they will come back as soon as possible when they are done with their errand'' meaning he will come back to Pidgeot after he is done with delivering GS Ball. This has been a hot topic in Japan as well. The Dub error thing was kinda misinformation caused by some random people in Reddit. The only dub conflict about this happened in Ash's first Johto GYM match not in the episode he released his Pidgeot.
I think the Coffin thing was more for people who haven't seen every previous episode of the show to explain to people watching who the pokemon are

What do you think Ash would be like if he was portrayed as mature as any other character who appeared in the Pokémon anime? He had a rocky start as a trainer in the Gen 1 anime but he slowly matured when he traveled other regions. I don't know why the Sun and Moon anime and the Sword and Shield anime devolved him
He hasn't devolved. If anything, XY portrayed him as being overly mature.

@@spinotikus1518 It's not something that can be put into numbers, but he has way more serious moment and his childish moments are way rarer than usual.
Devolved? He was just being his usual self, only with extra experience. Remember he was originally more arrogant and mean, but he had since been humbled and toned down with his attitude, which actually is a show of maturity.
Even in XY he would use sound effects to try to describe how to use a move in the same way he always does.
What about B&W, one of the soft reboots of the anime?

Yeah most of the issues with the Unova region series is poor writing. Most of Ash’s mistakes he had already made in the first series and and avoided repeating them until that series in which they didn’t seem to to know what they were doing and it’s almost like they tried to do a hard reset and failed
From what I discovered, it was primarily done to introduce new audiences to the world of Pokémon, both in the games and the anime.
Pretty much what it was. Not only did they try to soft reboot in the game side, but the anime as well.

I was just talking about how Ash has not age with my friends yesterday. Funny that you uploaded this video today haha. One of my friend's theory is that it is all a dream lol. I don't think that is the case though. It would make more sense for a multiverse hahaha. However it would also be cool if everything is connected because that is one crazy world builder they did with Pokémon
If it would be a Multiverse how can it be that in some seasons he can use some of his older Pokemon like Charizard? or in Jorneys that he sees his pokemon in Alola in one episode and just a few later the rest of them at professor Oaks? They even had an episode were ash meet an alternate dimension copy with him where team rocket was very powerful.

@@RuseGuise no plan as i just got interest in Pokemon again since Gen3. But if it would be a multiverse wouldn't he lack his previous pokemon from the previous Universe? Because to match your theory you have 2 Options:
1. Each Season is a own Universe with a own ash which just shares the 1. Generation and afterwards goes to a different 2. Location (1. Generation is fixed due to pikachu and Professor Oak) That way you can explain why he is not aging but at the same time he should be unable to use pokemon from his alternatives. So generation 2 cannot be in generation 3-8. generation 3 not in 4-8 etc.
2. He travels in a timeloop over to another universe without knowing. In that case you could have a multiverse-option where In that scenario he would catched at least the pokemon before but still age and he would need to transfer everyone else also with him which would probably be a chaos scenario if i.e. professor oak sees him going and within 1 hour he gets 40-50 Pokemon in his laboratory. Every person would also remember it in the world due to the effect chain and there should even never be someone be born who was not existing before ash started. Even the evolutions should not exist.
Why he gave up Pideot I'll never understand. Aside from Pikachu it was one of Ash's longest held Pokémon.
and his pigeot was special as well. normally pigeot aren't that size.
He was just trying to consider its feelings. And the promise to come back for it wasn't even nearly as strong in the Japanese version.
Also, Pidgeot had next to no personality compared to Ash's other birds.

The general director of the anime kunihiko iyama already gave us a canon answer why ash doesn’t age

I always related with Ash when he almost traded his Butterfree.
I'm sure he at first must have thought that his Butterfree would go on to a wonderful trainer but he obviously came to his senses because he knew how much he loved Butterfree.
Knowing Ash though even if he did trade Butterfree he would have had a goodbye with Butterfree at some point anyways.
So I wouldn't count it as him being cruel to Butterfree on the SSS Anne, in my opinion. :)
Technically Ash did trade his Butterfree for the Gentleman’s Raticate but he had second thoughts about it and decided to trade their Pokémon back.

Theres a difference between "releasing" a pokemon and "forgetting" it. Butterfree, Pidgeot and Squirtle have been released back in the wild...Meanwhile Charizard and Primeape are suppose to be in "Special Training Programs"... Also if we go by Ash's age, then its bearly been a year since all this happened lol
Squirtle is back with Officer Jenny and the rest of the Squirtle Squad and Charizard is back at Oak's lab now.
I think the writers of the anime either forgot about Ash's dad or they are waiting for the right moment to reveal what happened to him Ash celebrating his victory in the WCS and Masters 8 tournament would be the perfect time.
The concept of him appearing has probably been scratched at this point, but it has already been revealed what happen to him in the anime's novelization by anime writer Takeshi Shudo

That's a recurring thing for rather long running TV series. Time stands still for most of the characters in the biological sense.
It’s funny. If we count 1200 episodes as days, that’s potential 3 years Ash has been on his adventure. Still shorter than expected.
There are even moments where they say months or even a year has passed, yet Ash stays forever 10 years old!

Mewtwo’s kill of Ash should’ve been #1 and the reasons for Ash’s age doesn’t change is def because Mewtwo froze Ash’s body in time, Ash Saw Ho-Oh in the first episode which left Ash with Eternal Life which means being a Pokémon trainer at age 10 forever and having Pokémon journeys, having Ash fall off the bike and causing him to go into a coma and getting Ash’s soul taken out of him b/c of a chandelier.
Or alternatively Ash died in Episode #1 and Ho-Oh resurrected Ash while simultaneously gifting him eternal youth (or just super slow ageing since in Sun & Moon they actually acknowledged his birthday) 🤔🤔🤔

For #3 it was obvious it was Latias reasons: 1. no hat, 2. no response when ash spoke, and 3. Latias really liked ash. I know their is another reason but I can't put it in words, besides I never forgot that smooch I thought it cute and sweet.

This put whole Japanese audience in confusion. I've watched whole series Japan from the beginning, I got a lot life-long friends in Japan and there are videos about this PEOPLE FROM JAPAN. Do you want to play this game? I am open for bets... money? gift card? you name it if you think you are that sure. Only dub error was in Johto in Satoshi/Ash's first GYM match - not in the episode where Pidgeot leaves (Pallet town panic). At that point Japanese version confirms Pidgeot is released but originally from what Ash said people thought he will come back for his Pidgeot.
Y'know what, I ship Ash and Latias! They had such a beautiful relationship in Pokemon Heroes. It even stated in one of the books in the Canalave Library that at one point, it was socially acceptable for humans and Pokemon to marry. Given how Latias could literally morph into a girl (plus the intelligence that both of the Eon Duo have, such as being able to understand human speech), I can only imagine how things would go if Latias went with Ash on his journey.

Ash actually didn't abandon Pidgeot he soon later reunited with all his Pokèmons that he had captured through the years in Journeys and the I Want To Be A Pokémon Master special that ended his journey. And if you continue to watch the series he cannot take his Pokémons/friends to a different regions all the time since they have other species. Its actually like taken an animal out of their environment to another country it doesn't belong...... Plus Pokemon had a soft reboot starting with Black & White so he became 10 years old again and a different Ash we grow up with who probably never met certain Pokémon yet. Man this guy Ashley who doing this video have continue to watch the series or done his research😂 lol

I think the female companions Ash has had who outshined him in maturity are May, Dawn, Serena (didn’t watch much Sun and Moon)
May might’ve had the same stubbornness Ash had, but overall it wasn’t on the same level of his and she was overall more sensible and friendly
Dawn didn’t have as many immature outbursts as Ash did

Yep. Doesn't make sense why they pretended Ash-Greninja never existed. I guess the writers thought that bringing it up would be an unnecessary consumption of runtime/budget and that it would be too much for Goh to comprehend. Many of us were just very glad that Greninja returned at all and that too as a much stronger fighter than before.
Then again, why would Pokemon want us to forget the beloved power-up of the most popular Pokemon?
It was always pretty Infuriating how the show cheats for Ash, for example Pikachu beating Brock's Geodude despite the fact Electricity doesn't work against Rock Pokémon.

Japan didn't know that the show would be going international when that episode was made. But yeah. Definitely a big no-no in America.
Number 4 can be explained with Ash being shocked by pikachu on a consistent basis in the first 3 seasons. After a while Ash should be somewhat immune to electricity when he’s expecting it
What I want to forget? the one and only, absolute classic:

Yeah, the Mossdeep Gym battle was a mega-WTF moment. Anyone looking at this would have thought, "Isn't Swellow supposed to be weak against electric attacks?" It makes things like counter shields and targeting the field itself to remove certain effects better explained by comparison. It's up there with Pikachu being able to electrocute Ground type Pokémon sometimes into a one-hit KO (remember "aim for the horn"?). Did they all suffer earth leakage?
It’s because his dad is Giovanni (or at least that was an idea wayyy back in the early stages of the series). Was even teased with the US based Pokémon LIVE stage show 😅
Dishonorable Mention:
*Tag Battle Feud
-In the Advanced Generation series, Ash has participated in a tag battle with his female companion. Only for them AND their Pokémon to start bickering when things go awry. This ultimately proves their undoing as this just leaves their pokemon wide open for attacks, leading to a loss. You'd think that by the end of the episode, Ash would have learned his lesson. OH WAIT, HE DIDN'T! The anime did it AGAIN in the Diamond and Pearl series! Is it any wonder why those are my least favorite episodes? Its probably best to skip these ones.

The form Ash Greninja is not in the SV game. The ability exist but the form itself is gone so that strengthens my case.
