Dear Friend, Greetings from India. Thank you for such wonderful diy videos of these woodworking machines. I find that all your videos are for the common man, anyone who might not have money to spare, have access to common materials like plywood. I would guess that 80 percent of us are not economically well off to afford some of these machinery and hence your simple wood machines are a refreshment. Great work, please keep the videos coming...

Good work. This project is way more difficult than it appears. I have been trying to make one but encountered loads of problems. I have a Bench drill which refuses to drill straight holes therefore the bearing shaft doesn’t run anywhere near true. Your holes need to be super accurate and aligned precisely. I bought the bearings as shown and some 10mm mild steel bar and the bar doesn’t fit through the bearing centres, I had to emery paper the shaft to fit and now due to this and the slightly misaligned bearing holes the shaft is so stiff it barely turns. I am going to have to start again. This is not an easy build and I have been a carpenter for 50 years. I admire you sir.
you can buy pre ground and hardened steel rods might make it a bit easier :)

Water pump pliers on those small pieces being drilled is my only advice. Very creative and useful project. 50 bucks vs 850. No brainer. Really makes you think about how many different motors we use everyday and usually only for one function or purpose.

Задумка интересная, но одного не пойму: Чтобы сделать лобзик из фанеры, надо кучу электроинструмента, включая и электролобзик, которым тоже можно отлично металл пилить. И пилы по металлу для лобзика стоят в десятки раз дешевле ленточной деволтовской пилы.
Я так понимаю, чем бы дитё ни тешилось лишь бы не плакало. Или по простому: от нефиг делать.

That is a very interesting project! I was impressed by how well the blade tracked during cuts (the double bearings in each axle, provide great stability, despite being a plywood construction). I'll have to think about building one of those :-)

Watching you go thru all that and then imagining myself doing the same just made me realize it's worth the extra money to simply buy a handheld bandsaw in order to preserve my precious time. However, if the Shit were to Hit The Fan and one were inclined to need an "expedient" bandsaw, then this method would be very useful. Thank you.

Very cool build ! Its always been one of those tools i would like to have but couldnt ever justify the cost to buy one ! Well this is a good option IMO plus i like the compact design along wth the wood that. Makes it easy to mount in many positions if i decide to do so thanks for the video and the sketches as well i really enjoy your videos and creations

Very nice design and build looks like it is a fairly easy to use porta band as well I originally. Thought the external drill would make it bulky but it actually does not look to be so by using it as a handle like you demonstrate
