I believe this song is Jack's theme song more than anyone's. It plays at the end credits after Jack kills Ross. He inherits all of John's guns who is obviously a deadman. This song talks about pain and revenge and that's all Jack has by the end of RDR1
That’s what I always thought. Even at the end when it goes to jacks face and says “red dead redemption” showing that despite John’s story the true redemption was Jack getting his revenge for the man who took the one man he wanted approval, love, time from. Ending was beautiful.
3:28 is the most emotional part. I can see Jack putting down John’s revolver shortly after killing Ross, riding off into dawn, and remembering a conversation between him and Arthur while fishing about the meaning of life. Ready to start again.
When my mom was dying of cancer, after the doctors said she had 3 months to live, she fought for every fucking day of a year. This song, I found it, and I had never played the game. I played it for my mom, and we sat there and cried for a good hour, and she kept asking me to replay it. After an hour of listening to this song on a loop, she told me " I don't know who that is, or what that song is called, but I'm using it as my anthem. So, when ever you are caught in a corner, remember this song, and remember my fight. I was given 3 months, And I fought it for a year. I didn't give up. So don't you dare, ever give up. Ever. " This song makes me feel powerful, but it's also a painful memory for me.
My respects to you and your mother is in better place with no pain, discomfort, and suffering. But she still have memories of you that you one day be good human being.😢❤

I don't know. Just think about it if John listened to Arthur about not looking back instead of killing Micah the Pinkertons wouldn’t of found him therefore he wouldn’t of died R.I.P Jim Milton
@@SardonicJosh Ross thought that John was dead. It's not like he checked every bank loan in earth to see if he was alive. John made a lot of noise, and Micah's death was the finisher. Also, there's a lot of cabins near Blackwater, and I don't think that Ross just checked all the cabins to see if John was in one of them
This song truly sounds like John's final bout. His reasoning to fight a losing fight rather than to escape. John quite literally gave everything to the Pinkertons. Killed every single old crew member, started a new life whit legal capital as a farmer. Even was willing to be kept under the radar and supervision.
While it's probably just coincidence, I wonder if someone at Rockstar knew the lyrics well enough to reference them in Rdr2 - 'And you've given them all you can give.' Arthur says to Dutch "I gave you all I had." Deliberate or not, it just shows how well this song fits both games in many ways.
I didn't think about it until now but that line does seem like a reference to that line in the song. This song basically is a combination of Jack, John and Arthur even if it's primarily a Jack song and Arthur didn't exist yet.
I play rdr2 first so I feel never like john but after I know rdr1 I search all rdr1 story on google, I feel sad to john because he became the real man and then after I know jack Is protagonist I see jack was the saddest character in rdr series.first time to see a world never accepted by his father, and then after his father love and become good who love family, he lose his first father, Arthur Morgan. Time passes John, Abigail and Jack live happy and then Jack see his father get capture and not see his father for long time and then his father return to family, but not to long Jack lose his father for second time, and then he lose his mama, that make Jack fell lonely, his father and mother friends was death or lose contact. That make Jack live lonely and make him a saddest character Sorry for bad english or writings cause I'm not native speaker of english
I like to think Jack inherits everything John owned including what John inherited from Arthur before they parted ways for the final time. It's kind of a giant circle, Jack's first time meeting Ross was when he was gone fishing with Arthur. And now that he's a worse man than John or Arthur, all to kill Ross, he meets him fishing. The only difference is, nobody is there with Ross. No Milton, no Arthur, just him and Jack.
