I drove both when choosing my company car and ended up picking the BMW. I do no think that one is better than the other, it is just matter of which one is better for you. Objective things first: - To me the cabin of the BMW was quieter than the Merc while driving. - The ride was a bit rougher in the BMW, but the BMW was on 20 inch run-flats, while the Merc was on 18 inch standard tiers. - The navigation system in the BMW is more responsive than the Merc's system (zooming, entering addresses, switching menus, etc.) - Trunk in Merc is bigger - I think Mercedes still has not figured out where to place the rotary dial to actually be used comfortably. You cannot rest your arm while using it, you have to bend your elbow backwards...putting that touch-pad on top of the rotary dial makes the dial hard to use. None of those issues with the BMW. - The Merc's windscreen wipers made a lot of noise, those in the BMW were 100% silent. This may or not be fixable. - The Merc was cheaper than the BMW, but the monthly lease price for the BMW was lower - so less devaluation for the BMW. Subjective: - The Merc feels bigger than the BMW while you drive it. Some people probably like the feeling of driving a big car, I don't. - I think the dash of the Merc is very flashy when you first see it, but after 3 hours of driving I started to dislike it - those 2 vertical screens just don't work for me. I also don't like the look of the extended sun-cap that covers both screens. It gives the feeling of sitting behind a wall. I imagine those two screens together are also quite bright at night (did not test it). I like to drive with a very dark cabin at night. - The BMW is certainly not so flashy inside, but the quality felt better to me and I still liked it after 3 hours :-) I actually like the screen sticking out of the dash. It puts the screen high where you can look it at while still looking at the road, while not blocking more of the view as necessary. - Exterior of the Merc C or E is exactly the same, and I do not like it very much, but that would not stop me; I buy a car to drive it, not to look at it all day. - I do not like the graphics of the Merc's dials, media system or navigation system a lot. - Riding the BMW makes me feel my age (40), the Merc makes me feel older :-) - The Merc has more of "have you seen my fancy car" feel to it, while the BMW is more subtle (which I prefer). So all in all, the BMW is my choice for the reasons above, you may have other reasons to pick the Merc - being able to ride either one is already a very big luxury.
Bluehome I agree on many of your comments. I owned the F10 528i for almost 5 years and was contemplating between the new E Class or the G30 for an upgrade. I finally went for the G30 M Sport 530 - the aggressive look , the blue brake callipers , the new amazing idrive with car play , the rims etc all just seems so right to me. I prefer the evolutionary approach in car design ( I have a Porsche 911 also ). This is my 5th day owning the car and you can tell how excited I am about the purchase. I've probably watched this video for the 5th time now LOL. Regards MRZ
I was also choosing between the two and I agree 100% with your very objective comparison. I have however chosen the Merc:). I like it but In terms of infotainment the BMW is 2x better. The one in the Merc is really sluggish and not very logical. I got used to the menus and the navigation, but not the the sluggishness:(. Anyway after driving the 5 series for 5 years i needed a change.
Lets be honest, these two are the best you can get in the world in the segment. No matter what other brand you look at. At the end, they are both the best. Which one you personally chose is just up to personal preference.
I'm a BMW guy, I find E Class sexy as always and I think it's worth leading the segment, but if one day I decided to buy a car from this class, I'd choose BMW anyday because I just like it much more, the new G30 looks more elegant than the F10. Sometimes it's a question of reason, sometimes It's a question of preference.
So I own a G31 for almost two years now and right now, I'm in the market for it's replacement. I drove the E-Class and the A6 and I have to say: all three of them are pretty good cars and in the end it will be a matter of personal taste. Here's my opinion: It's correct, the Merc kinda hugs you. You close the door and leave the world on the outside. It has a special feel to it, and it is nice. BUT you really don't have much fun while driving it (I'm not talking about AMGs, though). I never felt like I wanted to go on a twisty road with the E-Class. However, it was comfortable like no other. The Audi struggles with it's FWD and being a bit topheavy. The 50TDI had a noticeable 'starting weaknes' when getting off from a stillstand, the 40 TDI didn't have that.. In both cases I didn't like the steering wheel. It was too thin and hard (the M steering wheel in the 5 series is padded). The 5 series has a bit more 'sharpness' to it that just makes you feel good and gives you a grin on your face. It really combines the best of both worlds (luxury comfort and sportiness). When on a twisty, you just want to go fast. When on the motorway / highway / Autobahn, you are perfectly fine to just cruise along and relax. For the interior: the Audi looks great at first sight, but for me, the whole infotainment-system doesn't really work as good as the one in the BMW. I can't use voice control (Audi's is better than the one on the 5 series) that much since I'm on the phone a lot. And focussing on the touchscreens is quite a big distraction when you're driving in heavy traffic. I'm missing just a few (maybe programmable) buttons for the most used functions. This would help a lot. For the Mercedes: I just don't understand that system. It is not logical or intuitive, at all. Plus the control-wheel is placed very bad. There was no relaxed way to use it. Voice control as good as in the BMW, satnav a bit slower. So in the end, I guess I will get another 5 series. Maybe just with a bigger engine this time (right now on a 520d).
I have to agree with James R. Astor: The 5 and the E are both great cars. I've test driven them both while shopping for a new company car and although I loved the E class, I did go for the 5 series in the end. Just because I felt that it's style and 'personality' fitted me better. Does that mean that the E wasn't good? Not at all, it's a brilliant car, just different. Regarding some of the comments here: it's a bit sad to see some people who are slaggin' off a car they don't like. It's ok if you don't like it.. it's called 'personal preference'. But don't say the car is bad because then you look /sound like a fool. Non of these cars are bad, on the contrary. The best part is that I'm sure half of those moaners can't even afford a car in this class... My advice: please grow up.
Hard choice aye. Ive Had both have a benz now luv it but I do miss my 328 beemas handle a lot better good road feel benz smoother and quite.. Were on the money what a hell choice. 😂 Beema.
You dont even have a equipped 5 series like the Mercedes. The headlights are the standard one in the 5. Take the full headlights on the 5 and it changes the look !!
@@davidtelllez2876 there is, maybe not in the UK, but there's high performance LED (which has the main unit on the outside) and Multibeam (which this car has, with main units on the inside). In Germany you can also get halogen reflector style headlights and I think even xenon bulbs (again with the main bulb on the inside, but with a white accent instead of a blue one when it's lit)
Let's face it - these are two exceptional cars, made by two of the world's best manufacturers. You're hardly going to feel like you got the raw end if you picked one of these over the other
i test drove both of them on highway and in city and after a month's researching and watching such videos i went for the BMW 5 series, G30 520i executive plus here in Dubai. The price for which (including registration and insurance) is 201,000 Emirates Dirham or 42,400 GBP. - 23rd April 2019 Main reason is the service pakcage of BMW is awesome. its for 60,000 KM or 3 years including brakeshoes and all areas (only battery and tyres not covered) Merc was offering 45000km service warranty with minimal coverage.
You're better off getting a certified pre-owned 530i. AGMC has a couple of them listed for 205,000, and it's definitely worth the massive power increase.
@@smar7931 I wanted to go for 530 but there is no difference in pickup, traction etc. Both hit 0-100 7.2s. So I didn't want to take an extra 35000 AED for just some cool features. Also i didnt wana go for used cars, but definitely that would be a good buck saver
As I see the biggest reason why commentators prefer BMW is because it’s sportier. People, we are talking about 2.0 diesel, not about M vs AMG, there is no sense in sport in this case. Most of you drive 1.4-2.0, that is not about sport at all. I would definitely prefer comfort in such conditions.
I think Merc should go back to the classic grill with the hood ornament. Thats equally as iconic as BMW's kidney grills. I just don't think Mercedes needs to slap a big logo on the grill. Their grill design alone lets you know what it is.
This is the saloon version, there are three exteriors for the e class. The avantgarde, exclusive and saloon. The exclusive is the good looking classic Mercedes.
Kun Lin exclusive version is just to ugly because of that ugly front bumper, avantgarde has almost same bumper and its just so ugly... why we cant have classic grill hood ornament and amg bumpers
I think you need to go and drive more cars... I used to want a W212 badly until I test drove a few of them! I hope I don't get the same feeling after driving a W213.
Richard Agreed, the W212 wasn’t the E-Class’s best generation.... personally I prefer the driving experience of the W211 and W213. Also not a fan of the relatively dated looking interior in the W212s, especially compared to the W211, and the huge leap the W213 took.
I have sold my e class from 2010 on 650 k km. and the engine was still perfect. I respect the bmw as a driver but when it comes to quality , comfort and endurance mercedes is the best car for the money.
For me it has to be the BMW but that is not discrediting the E class. It comes down to personal choice. I love BMWs especially 5 series and 7. However if someone offered me either car I would grab them with open arms. It's true the Germans make the best in terms of luxury. Others just are trying to keep pace with them e.g. Jaguar and Lexus.
What I like about these cars is, that both manufacturers seem to concentrate on it's roots again. If you like a sporty drive, you get more than enough comfort in the 5-series. And if you are looking for a comfy car the merc provides you with enough sportiness when you need it. In my opinion no-one needs allrounders. Cars need to have an own manufacturer-given DNA. So you just need to know your personal preferences. Quality and pricing as well as safety are nearly the same in all German premium cars. Liked the review Mat, even though I am a passionate merc driver. Greetings from good old Germany!
If we talk about roots early 2000 Mercedes was winning in the performance department while bm was winning with the looks. That don’t mean Mercedes was ugly not at all. In 2006 again Mercedes was beating bm with performance with the c63 and e63 then bm started lying about performance figures which they still do to this date. They give the car more then what it says on paper. I believe if Mercedes starts getting back in time with the performance I believe it will be the the best full stop. It has the best looks best interior just lacking performance very marginal as looking at drag racers with the 2 it’s not much in it.
Both great cars, I bought the e class estate over the 5 as I went for the 7 seater option which gives it great flexibility with my kids, so I didn't have to buy a dreaded people carrier or Jeep. The 2.0 diesel has adequate grunt and with the 9 speed auto is so relaxing to drive over long distances and a real world mid 40's mpg average so far.
In India or China, the E-Class comes with a Long Wheelbase as standard - Standard reclining rear seats! Its Unbelievably better here, but in any other country it would be a tough call between the two
I have 2015 520d and love almost everything about this car. But when I see this new e-class with it's refinement, style and more luxurious feel, I also crave to change to a new e-class.
I’ve owned both cars coming out of a Volvo S90 which was just as comfortable as the BMW M5series and MB E43 AMG. I test drove both and chose the BMW because it better because I tested it after I tested the MB so I went with my last impression. After driving the BMW for a few days I took it back and got the MB and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The MB is just an all round better car. Much more stylish, just a good in performance, better on fuel and a sexier interior. It’s just more of a head-turning car.
The front seats look wider in the BMW, which is not to say that the Merc's seats are not comfortable but the comfort seats in the BMW are just fantastic. At the end of the day choosing between the 5 series and the E class will remain a question of preference - if you've been a BMW fan like me all your life it's not very likely that you'll choose the E class, but on the other hand if you've owned 2 generations of E class Mercs I'm sure you're gonna stick with it.
The E class is getting a new line up of diesels later this year. The new 2 litre is 170kg lighter than this particular one in the 220d. They're both great cars though..
In my country a fully loaded S90 with 320HP or 230HP diesel with air suspension, B&W sound system is priced as the base price of the E class and the 5 series, so its the S90 for me
The best joke that I heard about a Mercedes, a few day ago...EVER! A boss, a bussiness owner, just drives and parks his brand new Mercedes with full options, in the parking lot of his company and then an employee comes outside and starts admiring his bosses Mercedes...the boss goes to the guy and looks him in the eyes and asks him if he likes it, and he says its great...than the boss says: - Next year if you will work really hard, you will be a very good employee and you will do more overtime...I am gonna buy an even nicer Mercedes!
iMixi 765 nah. BMW infotainment system Porsche Body and engine Audi led, Quattro and virtual cockpit Mercedes-Benz Luxury Prius Fuel economy =best car in the world
Really, they are comparing the 2l engines, which if you want fast you don't buy, plus the bmw was in comfort mode. I'd be surprised if any E series can keep up with the 540 x drive m sport for the same price bracket.
In the process of swapping my Merc out for the BMW 5 series. oddly enough, I like the way the BMW handles much better than the Merc. I prefer more plurality/duality (luxury and comfort). There are days when I like to drive with a purpose and days where leisure is preferred. From having owed a Merc, it makes me feel older (I'm 30). As I actually get older, I appreciate understated luxury a bit more. The Merc is definitely a softer, more luxurious ride... In the end, it really comes down to your car suiting your personality. A year over year cost to own comparison would probably edge one over the other... which my gut tells me Merc wins there. But from what I've heard and seen, it seems BMW has made big improvements and more competitive on that front as well.
The days when reviews included cabin noise measurements and information of how these cars will be used in the real world. Now it's mostly steering feel, 'interior quality' aka subjective whoever pay me more shilling and sportyness.
Carwow isn't fully unbiased as they're not just reviewing cars, they have a company based around selling cars. If they want a specific car, like the BMW, to sell better, they can do anything in their favour to make it seem better, and this is what has clearly happened in this review.
Both cars are great for luxury, but bmw tops in sport. Both cars is what people would want. At the end it is up to you. Tell me would you pick any other car like Cadillac, or ranger over, over bmw or Mercedes, you won't unless you are a fanboy. Bmw and Mercedes have tops ratings. But not taking any sides, I would get both of these cars, but bmw has been selling better than mercades, because it has better build quality. And it is more reliable.
Did he really excelerate in comfort mode 🤦🏻♀️. Any features like intelligent key system that other cars have. 1. Start your car with remote key 2. Press request button when you approach your car to unlock without actually having to dig for the keys. 3. Smart key lockout protection. ALSO: please put seat warmers and coolers for front seats and back seats.
Many are calling Mercedes a shit brand. They are currently the worlds best selling luxury brand And also one of the best in Motorsport. Why would people call them shit?
I own both the cars, both are great cars in their own way. I personally feel the bmw 530i is a better car despite the sad interior but still a better car on the road.. I have more confidence with the bmw when I am travelling long distance.. It’s my personal review on it, no heart feelings.. The mercedes-benz E300 it’s a wonderful luxury car no doubt and it’s also my daily driven car. I am very much impressed with the comfort, it’s amazing!!! 👌🏻.. If you have the money go for both 😎
I probably can't choose between them, so it all falls down to its reliability. Which one of them has the least issue will be the one I'm looking forward to.
They're both great vehicles with no doubt. In the end it comes to personal preference. I would go with BMW just because it's more "sporty". Besides the acceleration test they made doesn't convince me at all. I think under equal conditions, the BMW would be slightly faster. Nonetheless, Mercedes-Benz is a lovely and awesome machine. In my own personal opinion, I give the win to BMW as well.
Pelihuppu sporty means the handling is better. BMW’s handling are always better than Merc. Drive one or own one of these u will realize Merc handling is much more stiffer than BMW not just watching video and masturbate.
That's actually untrue. All sports mode does is remap the pedal's response in a less linear way by going 80% throttle when you've only pushed it half-way. The second half of its travel hardly adds any additional performance. Combined with the higher revs of a lower gear it will feel snappier and faster, whilst it actually isn't.
I do get that the command system on all benzes are difficult to use, but why doesnt carwow ever mention the speach control or try using it in comparison or parred with the command system
pascalsss because a lot of them are useless as they either require specific commands or just simply do not understand. However, the new 5 Series allows the driver to speak in a casual tone rather than specific commands.
but thats exactly the thing, the systems do work, i mean even if it just radio or navigation or for phone calls, the systems are better than taking your eyes off the road, and ive seen a mercedes system which even recognises dialects
It's pretty seamless once you get over the learning curve. The volume roller feels a bit unnatural after decades of having a knob but aside from that. I find it very easy to use
David García yeah not doubt! I have driven a few and I have to say they handle very very well. In my opinion the Mercedes is the smoother and mor enjoyable cruiser. However different car with different personalities. There is no wrong choice, there is only personal preference. BMW and Mercedes are cars that are in another league. Audi on the other hand does not have the pedigree to keep up in my opinion. I would say they make nice cars but BMW and Mercedes are the big boys on the block... kind of like comparing Coca Cola & Pepsi to Sprite.
Funny thing is the Mercedes would outlast the 5 series as they start showing age I've got an E63 2009 and my wife has a 2011 E350 and for the years we've owned them my wife's car only went back to the dealership once for a check engine light which was caused by old spark plug ( that's it ) BMW's are great but they become headaches once they go out of warranty .
Jspecwerks then go see the 2018 U.S dependability study lol merc is in the 16th and mazda is 15th in problems per 100 vehicles and the bmw is in the 8 position
Got a 1993 BMW 5 series and never has a single light come up on the dash, dads had it since it’s birth. Best and most reliable manufacturer ever in my and my fathers opinion (who’s a mechanic)
Soorma530. That is totally fine. You are part of the 40% voted for the looks of the 5 series. Mat and I are part of the 60% voted for the looks of the E class
Why do so many people compare the E Class with a Taxi like it's an insult? What is important for a taxi driver? Reliabilty, comfort, economy. So in those 3 segments the E Class wins over any other car how it seems. There really isn't much left beside that, except the category sporty. But lets be real here, we are talking about low displacement diesels, that has nothing to do with it anyway.
Both fantastic cars, I don't think you can determine which one is 'best' as it comes down to personal preference. My preference of car is BMW as I prefer the drive, the simplicity of the layout, and how intuitive iDrive is. The next person may prefer Merc for similar reasons. Swings and roundabouts
carwow is probably the best right now....they touch upon matters that most people want to know...reallty well thought out reviews. Motortrend was also pretty good ...but now carwow is the best.
I don't understand why you people fight over which car is best. It's pretty simple: - between 3 series and C class, 3 series wins - between 5 series and E class, any - between 7 series and S class, S class wins
I think that's pretty close to the truth, but is really because people prefer small cars to be sporty and limousines to be more comfortably luxurious l
Owned Mercedes since mid-80's, but! The new lines of Mercedes are getting way too cheap .. plastic, plastic and more cheapness. My wife's 2014 E350 was a much better built and feeling car than its 2017 4 cylinder turbo replacement, the new E Class feels like my daughter's old C230 .. the new E is a glorified C Class. The Premium 3 package is good.
carspotter 0 Drive both the current and previous E Class cars and get back to me; seriously. Mercedes is making too many models and missing key quality and design model distinctions. However, I do agree that most people looking at a C, E or S cannot distinguish the models. So what does that say about buying an S. My S Cabriolet is distinctive to a point and a few models do stand out .. but most do not.
So the Merc looks better, cheaper, more powerful, more comfortable, has more practical boot but the winner is 5 series just because of a sporty handling? Am I missing something?
I really like the exterior styling of the Merc but hate that messy over fussy interior. They're both really good cars though and it's just down to personal preference in choosing between them.
The new Mercedes styling certainly looks best on the E class but I hate the way the side body lines converge as you go to the rear of the car. From a practical standpoint it also comprises trunk room on all current Mercs. The styling of the 5 is much sportier and wedge like, and has lots of nice creases in the sheet metal that you can only see in the flesh.
Hey Carwow! I would like you to make modern day reviews of older cars, and judge them by today's standards! Also comparisons of Old Vs. New are currentrly making a lot of views on TH-cam.
I like the merc for design but BMW for tech, they always keep up to date like the 7 series with the remote parking function on the key, touchpad mouse control, all the new tech.
You spent the entire video praising the E Class and pointing out how it's better in every single way (except handling), and then suddenly at the end you decided the 5 Series is the more rounded better car. That's rather inconsistent and strange.
I personally like the styling of the 5 Series better, but the Merc definitely looks more expensive. And the interior isn't even a competition. Sure the materials quality is about the same but the Merc dusts the BMW in terms of design. iDrive is infinitely better than COMAND, though. I also find it funny how everyone rags on the E Class for being a taxi. I rode in a new one this past summer in Berlin and it was by far the most comfy car I've ever been in. Die neue E Klasse.
I have the E300 and I think it’s better than the 5 series. The look, the interior, the infotainment center, the gas mileage, the stitching. The ONLY thing I think the 5 series has the E300 beat on is the “drive.” It’s made more for the drive, while the E300 is made for the luxury more or less. Both cars are dope though. Both are Classy. 💯
I prefer the interior of BMW. It is simple and timeless. I actually find the interior of Mercedes is a bit tacky and busy looking. The round air con vents are somewhat old fashion looking. I also prefer the more roomy space at the rear seats than having a larger boot space because the comfort of people should come first, also this is classed as executive car so if you need larger boot space you should find one that can accommodate that need. I have been driving BMW since i got my licence and have been through 5 BMW cars. Someone in my family is a big fan of Mercedes but it is always the S class. If u compare S class to BMW 7 series, S class would be a winner because it has more interior amenities and for long distance drive it is very quiet, smooth and the cruising mode is fantastic. But if you compare the BMW series 5 with the Mercedes C class then BMW is the winner because it is more responsive and it picks up speed faster than the E class which is a big plus point if you have to drive in very busy cities and have to climb the ramps of the multi level car parks or need to do a quick lane change. This is my personal opinion which comes from test driving the C class and the BMW 520i. Currently, I’m driving a BMW 528 (6th generation). The 2018 is the 7th generation.
Both are great, thanks god we are living in this time. Taste is relative, no need to say this is better or that is better. A big thanks to Merc and BMW for these masterpieces
Heart says BMW,
Brain says Merc,
Pocket says Dacia
ahahah nice one

My wallet said Merc.
I drove both when choosing my company car and ended up picking the BMW.
I do no think that one is better than the other, it is just matter of which one is better for you.
Objective things first:
- To me the cabin of the BMW was quieter than the Merc while driving.
- The ride was a bit rougher in the BMW, but the BMW was on 20 inch run-flats, while the Merc was on 18 inch standard tiers.
- The navigation system in the BMW is more responsive than the Merc's system (zooming, entering addresses, switching menus, etc.)
- Trunk in Merc is bigger
- I think Mercedes still has not figured out where to place the rotary dial to actually be used comfortably.
Subjective:
- The Merc feels bigger than the BMW while you drive it.
- Riding the BMW makes me feel my age (40), the Merc makes me feel older :-)
- The Merc has more of "have you seen my fancy car" feel to it, while the BMW is more subtle (which I prefer).
So all in all, the BMW is my choice for the reasons above, you may have other reasons to pick the Merc - being able to ride either one is already a very big luxury.
BlueHome mercs interior is much nicer
To you yes, to me no 😀 To each his or her own taste. That is why there are so many choices of everything on this world.
BlueHome this is true.

I agree on many of your comments.

Sometimes it's a question of reason, sometimes It's a question of preference.
c7master I actually think it's
the other way around.... the BMW looks more sporty but the e class looks more elegant
c7master Would agree yes
Hasan Al-habbobi the 5 series is very elegant too though
James R. Astor from Austria it is but not as elegant as the e class, however it is more sporty
So I own a G31 for almost two years now and right now, I'm in the market for it's replacement. I drove the E-Class and the A6 and I have to say: all three of them are pretty good cars and in the end it will be a matter of personal taste. Here's my opinion:
It's correct, the Merc kinda hugs you.
Maybe just with a bigger engine this time (right now on a 520d).
your review was realy informative! thank you sir.
👌💯💯💯💯
New 5 Series is just gorgeous.
im Bmw fan but i respect Mercedes
both are good car
Brendon Gashi I'm a Mercedes fan but I like the BMW it's a fantastic car
Both are great, I don't understand people hating on them
Hard choice aye. Ive Had both have a benz now luv it but I do miss my 328 beemas handle a lot better good road feel benz smoother and quite.. Were on the money what a hell choice. 😂 Beema.
I also
I'm a BMW fan too!
You dont even have a equipped 5 series like the Mercedes. The headlights are the standard one in the 5. Take the full headlights on the 5 and it changes the look !!
That's what I thought, too
😅there's no headlights upgrades for the Benz
@@davidtelllez2876 there is, maybe not in the UK, but there's high performance LED (which has the main unit on the outside) and Multibeam (which this car has, with main units on the inside). In Germany you can also get halogen reflector style headlights and I think even xenon bulbs (again with the main bulb on the inside, but with a white accent instead of a blue one when it's lit)
Who also can't afford any of them but still watches the video?
Abi 🙋🏻♂️
I finally can, in 2024/2025 on PCP 😂 Going for Merc!
@@Avia_FJ😂😂😂
@@Avia_FJme too!
I can afford them but cars are not my priority😊
I haven't even watched the video yet and I already know he's going to say the BMW's infotainment is better
When the M5 comes out can you do a Head2Head between it and the E63s?
E63s has 603hp it will kil it
M5 will have over 600hp and bmw always under rate the horse power for some reason, so probably looking at around 650hp for the new m5
NM still e63 is better, on paper atleast. It has luxury and sporty features at the same time.
Can't beat the E63S because E63S is an AWD car. More power and easily beat the M5.
Intel & Nvidia SUXXZZZ!!! New m5 is 4 wheel drive
- 23rd April 2019
Main reason is the service pakcage of BMW is awesome. its for 60,000 KM or 3 years including brakeshoes and all areas (only battery and tyres not covered)
Merc was offering 45000km service warranty with minimal coverage.
There’s something about the English car channels that you don’t find in the American shows, blooming lovely!
BMW has the best infotainment system it is even used in Rolls-Royce
Jim H because BMW own Rolls Royce
@@anhtuanleminh1149 No shit

Lol its bcz bmw own rolls Royce
I think Merc should go back to the classic grill with the hood ornament. Thats equally as iconic as BMW's kidney grills. I just don't think Mercedes needs to slap a big logo on the grill. Their grill design alone lets you know what it is.
This is the saloon version, there are three exteriors for the e class. The avantgarde, exclusive and saloon. The exclusive is the good looking classic Mercedes.
Kun Lin In the UK we only get SE/Avantgarde and AMG Line.
Alex Sosna The hood ornament was removed because of how often they were stolen.
jamjax no of course it still exists, go on the Mercedes uk website
Kun Lin exclusive version is just to ugly because of that ugly front bumper, avantgarde has almost same bumper and its just so ugly... why we cant have classic grill hood ornament and amg bumpers
I have a 2010 E class and honestly it is the best car I've ever driven
I think you need to go and drive more cars... I used to want a W212 badly until I test drove a few of them! I hope I don't get the same feeling after driving a W213.
same 😂😂e350
Richard Agreed, the W212 wasn’t the E-Class’s best generation.... personally I prefer the driving experience of the W211 and W213. Also not a fan of the relatively dated looking interior in the W212s, especially compared to the W211, and the huge leap the W213 took.
Timothy L agree the W211 and the W213 are the Most beautiful. Before i bought the w213 I drove the W211 and it is still a wonderful car
I have sold my e class from 2010 on 650 k km. and the engine was still perfect. I respect the bmw as a driver but when it comes to quality , comfort and endurance mercedes is the best car for the money.
The interior of the E class in in another league, especially at night. I get over 65 mph on a long trip in absolute luxury. I love it
Agree
it is beutifull, but not as well build like an audi or BMW.
65 mph? Are you trying to say 65 mpg fuel economy? I have the 540i and with ambient lights and heads up display it's basically a space ship at night.
Reading this thread Eoin you are a diamond in the dust - just about to get a new car and will be going 5 series
Greetings from good old Germany!
this is where audi is trying to be a mercedes plus bmw but it wont work
If we talk about roots early 2000 Mercedes was winning in the performance department while bm was winning with the looks.
Good to hear someone actually buying a car based on what they need instead of what others think. I bought the 5 series personally.
This is the second review that I watch of these two rivals and it seems that the BMW is surprisingly quieter on the inside both times.
The E class is getting a new line up of diesels later this year. The new 2 litre is 170kg lighter than this particular one in the 220d.
They're both great cars though..
Very hard to compare these two really nice cars....would essentially come down to a matter of preference. And for me, it has to be the E-class!
Heart says : Rolls royce
Brain says : BMW,Mercedes
Pocket says: toyota corolla
I love BMW but I would go for the E class because the luxury it offers cannot be compared
In my country a fully loaded S90 with 320HP or 230HP diesel with air suspension, B&W sound system is priced as the base price of the E class and the 5 series, so its the S90 for me
Volvo S90 is very nice!
Not a joke but a reality.
Good lad. I've vought a 5 series M sport last week and I absolutely love it.

I LOVE your reviews! The trunk part is very thoughtful and helped me decide which car to rent for my trip :)
E Class for me. Faster and far more beautiful.
sure whatever you say :)
Faster doesn't always means driving ergonomics and handling. Beautiful is subjective. But both are good.
Bmw is right choice
i would say if you look for comfort and eco ride get e220d
if you want comfort and dynamic drive with nice sound and reasonable fuel economy get 540i
BMW has the best infotainment system, doesn't matter what other car you bring to the channel, BMW wins over all
The days when reviews included cabin noise measurements and information of how these cars will be used in the real world.
Cold as fire hot as ice clearly you are a fanboy can you just stop complaining he clearly said that both vehicles are good
Both cars are great for luxury, but bmw tops in sport.
I would choose the merc , it is more comfortable, more practical and looks much better!
E39 the most beautiful 5 Series ever !!!!
👌🏻.. If you have the money go for both 😎
*sticks one hand out the window*
3!... 2!... 1!....
This guy has never street raced before, bless his heart
I probably can't choose between them, so it all falls down to its reliability. Which one of them has the least issue will be the one I'm looking forward to.
They're both great vehicles with no doubt. In the end it comes to personal preference. I would go with BMW just because it's more "sporty". Besides the acceleration test they made doesn't convince me at all. I think under equal conditions, the BMW would be slightly faster. Nonetheless, Mercedes-Benz is a lovely and awesome machine.
In my own personal opinion, I give the win to BMW as well.
Mercedes is better.
Patrick Fie can you just think about what this guy said without being a dumb fanboy all the time
@@f0otball41
Fuck off will ya?
The mercedes is way faster lol
Pelihuppu sporty means the handling is better. BMW’s handling are always better than Merc. Drive one or own one of these u will realize Merc handling is much more stiffer than BMW not just watching video and masturbate.
So you would race a 2L diesel in comfort? Id hit the sport and it makes a huge difference. The car has less power in comfort mode
Jo
Or just get the petrol in the BMW its a much better engine...
Shut up Meg
It shows how bad Bmw is!
However, the new 5 Series allows the driver to speak in a casual tone rather than specific commands.
the tech when it comes to voice commands is just not here yet when it comes to cars^ its ok at best
but thats exactly the thing, the systems do work, i mean even if it just radio or navigation or for phone calls, the systems are better than taking your eyes off the road, and ive seen a mercedes system which even recognises dialects
It's pretty seamless once you get over the learning curve. The volume roller feels a bit unnatural after decades of having a knob but aside from that. I find it very easy to use
The two systems are well different, I like both Merc changed a lot over the last few years and BMW not.
I am Daimler AMG through and through but BMW is definitely one hell of a car manufacturer (soft spot). Mercedes FTW for me personally.
And this 5 series... is a bloody good car!
Finally the comments are supporting both brands
Please do a car review video on the new 2018 BMW X3 and the 2018 Mercedes GLC!
Jspecwerks then go see the 2018 U.S dependability study lol merc is in the 16th and mazda is 15th in problems per 100 vehicles and the bmw is in the 8 position
yeah, maybe this is due to variable service intervals... had recently crankshaft problem on 7 year old x5 - very unfortunate and expensive to repair
Got a 1993 BMW 5 series and never has a single light come up on the dash, dads had it since it’s birth. Best and most reliable manufacturer ever in my and my fathers opinion (who’s a mechanic)
E-Class is for Taxi driver, BMW is for crazy driver.
BMW is taxi driver car
ill always choose a merc over a bmw but its just stunning to see how absolutely BRILLIANT both of these pieces of art are
FRANKIEONPC are you really commentating videos now? I am actually really happy right now!
Mercedes messed the e class up. it looks almost exactly like a C class.
Soorma530 and the 5 series doesn’t look exactly like every other bmw?
Lol Merc still looked better than that 5 series
Mzwandile Harmans I think 5 series looks better.
Soorma530. That is totally fine. You are part of the 40% voted for the looks of the 5 series. Mat and I are part of the 60% voted for the looks of the E class
Mzwandile Harmans that’s fine as not everybody who watched this video voted. Comment section shows a different opinion of public.
Ibrahim Strika - I totally agree with you. E Class is a winner all the way. Even the basic model is good.
Cheap plastic
1:24 I love those rim caps! 😃😍
He scratched literally the only plastic thing in the E-Class.
half of the dash is plastic lmao
I don't understand why you people fight over which car is best. It's pretty simple:
- between 3 series and C class, 3 series wins
- between 5 series and E class, any
- between 7 series and S class, S class wins
I think that's pretty close to the truth, but is really because people prefer small cars to be sporty and limousines to be more comfortably luxurious l
Owned Mercedes since mid-80's, but! The new lines of Mercedes are getting way too cheap .. plastic, plastic and more cheapness. My wife's 2014 E350 was a much better built and feeling car than its 2017 4 cylinder turbo replacement, the new E Class feels like my daughter's old C230 .. the new E is a glorified C Class. The Premium 3 package is good.
D Jaquith no the new e class Is more like a smaller s class
carspotter 0
Drive both the current and previous E Class cars and get back to me; seriously. Mercedes is making too many models and missing key quality and design model distinctions.
However, I do agree that most people looking at a C, E or S cannot distinguish the models. So what does that say about buying an S.
My S Cabriolet is distinctive to a point and a few models do stand out .. but most do not.
D Jaquith Only blid dumb fucks cant tell the difference....and haters. Where is audi and bmw difference? Especialy interior.
100% agree
that was when they buy out Chrysler. ..that time there quality went down hill but not any more. ...there are major changes at Daimler ag
3:48 Matt's face tho 😂
Mate, you are seriously one of the best car reviewer's around. When will you do a review on the Kia Stinger?
So the Merc looks better, cheaper, more powerful, more comfortable, has more practical boot but the winner is 5 series just because of a sporty handling? Am I missing something?
Cupid007 no. Mat is dumb
I drove Merc E Class and BMW 5 series. The Mercedes is much better and much more comfortable!
Cupid007 5 series is more refined and better handling and better fun to drive
I have driven both and much prefer the Mercedes. My personal preference.
I drove both as estate and in that version at least the Merc rules. Even handling is better.
"BMW feels sportier" the mercedes feels smoother. The mercedes beat the "sportier" BMW lol
Sporty does not mean drag race
Sport mean great handling non only acceleration. When you are in the curve the handling is most import thing
That changes with literally every engine model above the base 2L Diesel.
It was olso in comfort Mode not Sport Mode ✌🏼
That was still in comfort mode you know
New Audi A6 coming in 2019, things should get interesting!
I really like the exterior styling of the Merc but hate that messy over fussy interior. They're both really good cars though and it's just down to personal preference in choosing between them.
Till this day that exterior in the e class is still the best in the world
Little did he know that BMW would do too much styling later on.
This will be one of the toughest decisions I’ll have to make in the next year or so... E Class or 5 series
So,what did u go for? 😁
The E class is the clear winner here.
Not really
Liat
Ofcourse
no its fuckin not
Ehh, depends on opinions but according to Matt, the 5 series is his winner, but if it were my opinion, I would say the the E Class
Merc all day long 😉👌
Bmw looks more elegant, faster, simpler interior, more agressive and so much more omg I LOVE THIS CARRRRRRR
lovey review and comparing! first time checking your chanel and YES IVE SUBSCRIBED !
Bmw= fun sporty and loud, mercedes= luxury and quite
Funny thing is that the BMW has a quieter ride.
Matter of personal preference. I prefer the Mercedes Benz E Class to the BMW 5 Series
i love the bmw because i have one my self but the 3 seriase
The new Mercedes styling certainly looks best on the E class but I hate the way the side body lines converge as you go to the rear of the car. From a practical standpoint it also comprises trunk room on all current Mercs. The styling of the 5 is much sportier and wedge like, and has lots of nice creases in the sheet metal that you can only see in the flesh.
I test drove the e350 and 530d, was blown away with the Beemer performance,since I'm 28 it's 530d for me .... I'll choose the e class when I turn 40.
Hey Carwow! I would like you to make modern day reviews of older cars, and judge them by today's standards! Also comparisons of Old Vs. New are currentrly making a lot of views on TH-cam.
Not a big fan of the Mercs' steering wheel.. the m sports steering wheel of the BMW looks and feels a lot better in my opinion.
BMW SERIES 5 ❤
Bmw+carwow= best friend for ever... 1🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like the merc for design but BMW for tech, they always keep up to date like the 7 series with the remote parking function on the key, touchpad mouse control, all the new tech.
This review was FIXED !! Mercedes won’t almost all categories. (Faster,MPG, storage, comfort, look) and at the end, He says BMW won. SMH
Butthurt
It wasn't fixed. All boils down to what he likes between merc and bmw personally.
You spent the entire video praising the E Class and pointing out how it's better in every single way (except handling), and then suddenly at the end you decided the 5 Series is the more rounded better car. That's rather inconsistent and strange.
Mercedes are my heroeeeeessss!!!, absolutely I like them
What kinda of a clown answer is that
I personally like the styling of the 5 Series better, but the Merc definitely looks more expensive.
E-class looks like old mans car
Bmw looks sharper
