I like the sound of the furnace. It brought back pleasant memories of sewing in the basement as a child. My mom made a "sewing room" down there in a corner that had a couple windows across the top of the walls. She put a big piece of vinyl flooring that covered most of that spot. It was really nice and bright and cozy feeling, even when it was rather chilly. She let me use the sewing machine and iron and experiment to my heart's content, starting when I was 6 or 7 years old. Of all the sewing spaces and rooms I've had throughout my life, that one is still my very favorite.
Just a suggestion. Something I have discovered over the years working with things that contain water. For this, I would use distilled water. Why? Prevents mold.
Hey Lindsey, thanks for your super helpful videos. I just learned that you can unscrew the top part of the POSCA pen. I used needle nose players to get a good grip and then unscrew the white part from the bottom part. It unscrews backwards! Anyway, then you can take the piece out of the inside, it slides out easily and add your paint. 💖
You are welcome, it is funny how little media will fit n those pens, I have been using this one a lot since I got it for Christmas but I would not want to have to buy a new one every few months. The refil is as good as a new pen, yay!
Lindsay every time I have a question! The frugal crafter has an answer!! You are my Personal artist Wikipedia!!! Thank you for all the videos you’ve made over the years!!!
I recently tried a Posca paint pen for the first time in my life of 63 years. I love this pen! Currently it has been getting the most use in the kitchen labeling glass jars and plastic containers used for leftovers. The ink stays on well even in freezer and fridge. It doesn't smudge when handling containers (just gotta make sure it dries for a few seconds). It washes off easily with some soap and water without leaving any stain. So far it hasn't shown any sign of drying up or problems with ink flow and I've used it daily for at least a month, labeling glass jars for my new quarantine hobby of making kefir water. It occurred to me that it might suddenly run out of ink and I would be so disappointed to go without it or have to resort to using a different pen. I guess I'm a little addicted 😲 haha! I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that these paint pens could be refilled, so I googled and this video was the first search result I found. And woo hoo it was Lindsay! Thank you Lindsay! I feel so relieved, but ordering another Posca pen or two. I'm happy with white, but another color would be nice too.
Thank you for this AWESOME video! This type of video is why I started watching you in the first place several years ago. I would love more vids of this type! Thanks for sharing!
I bet a dosing syringe would work well. There are some blunt-tipped, large-gauge needles available. I use them for filling my fountain pen and technical pen cartridges.
Out of the 4 different videos I watched, l was just about out of patience until I came across this one and wow... I then realized why am I trying to use this little syringe?! And slooowwwly shoving it down this narrow tip? I can literally take the entire top off!!! Heck yea!! THANK YOU YOU ROCK 🙏🏼
Hi there, I was researching this a bit more and found your video, so firstly thank you so much :D .... HOWEVER... you actually CAN unscrew the POSCA pen (just like the other one), but the thing it is unscrews in the opposite direction to any regular pen! Its weird that its made that way, but its true! I know this is from 2018, but I hope this helps you or anyone else reading if they haven't figured this out yet. Cheers! :)
Omgosh! You are a true legend! I didn’t know u cud do that! You are gonna save me so much money! I can’t thank you enough! I came in here to find out how to fix dried paint pen bibs but you have opened up a whole new world for me! Is it weird that now I can’t wait for my pens to run out of paint? Actually I think I have some white Pilot paint pens that I was gonna have to rebuy, but u have given me renewed hope. *Goes to bin, takes our white paint pen I threw in there half an hour ago* 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
This is a GREAT tips Lindsay, Love the way you've show how to do this because it's very Handy and easy to do so Big Thank's for this Fantastic video my Friend!
Great stuff! When my acrylic paint markers run out I’ll be refilling. I may change a couple of the colours by refilling a different more preferred colour.
Excellent! Btw @LindsayWeirich the posca's white top can be unscrewed from the bottom if you twist it to the 'right'. Opposite of our "righty tighty". I think it's a Japanese pen, that is why. 💜 Also, you can purchase new nibs for the smaller posca's if needed.
I've hung on to some metallic paint pens that dried out. Now I'm going to have to see what kind of paint they are and try this. Thanks so much! I think Crayola used to have a marker style recycle that you could send worn out ones to, but I don't remember for sure. That may help out with less landfill debris, too.
OMG, thank you so much for this video. I really needed to do this with one of my white Posca pens thank you so much otherwise I would have felt sad to throw it away
Posca pens are from japan and dont follow the 'righty tighty' rule, so turn the lid right to undo it and make refilling easier!!! You might need pliers if it hasn't been undone it for a long time, but i open mine all the time to refill. Hope this tip helps!
Great video, very informative. Do you ever find that the nib sometimes acts like a coffee filter and filters (or restrains) the paint inside the pen? I would think that if the pigment particles in the paint/medium might clog the nib OR just let the water through the nib? Have you ever thought of using inkjet printer inks as a colorant (obviously you can’t do that with white)
Oh, neat! I’m wondering how long this will stay good inside the posca pen. I’d worry that it would dry out but still....it’s not like you’d really be losing anything as a result! This is basically a free posca pen life extension using things you already have until you can’t do it any more. =>.
Thank you for this great video! however I have the 0.7mm posca pens ("pin type") and it does not seem to unscrew and has a metal bit around the nib. Do you have any experience trying to refill these ones? Thank you!
I could screw the tip off from a PC-5M pen. This girl made it with the extra fine in this video th-cam.com/video/5Fa-ny163S0/w-d-xo.html Maybe on your case, the paint dried and it got stuck.
Thanks. I had one of these that's running out and I've got some unused acrylic so I'm gonna try to do this. I just hope that it works since it's a black pen and I'm filling it with light blue
I just refilled my Tombow Fudenosuke Hard tip and Soft Tip both… I used Noodlers Bulletproof Black and it’s fantastic ! Once dry it’s entirely permanent (and laser proof lol)
@@thefrugalcrafter I pulled the back cap off with pliers. Mine have a rounded/toothed grip area and I used that to grab the cap and you want to twist it and pull it up at the same time to help it loosen and slide without damaging it out of shape. Then pipette the ink in. I had actually recieved a cracked body pen new from Amazon and even though they refunded me I wanted to try and save it to I wrapped packing tape on the body to seal it up and filled it. After sitting over night to saturate evenly it’s absolutely perfect! ((I am so happy to actually share a frugal tip with you for a change 🙃))
Hi Lyndsay. what type is your last pen? And what type of black pen do you recommend to go over top of mixed media? I've tried sharpies and all the pit pens and no success. Thanks. Samara
@@thefrugalcrafter ooo really? Weird! That's awesome news though, I love the matte look of poscas so much. It's great to hear I don't need to mix in a matte medium or something :D Thank you Lindsay!

unscrew clockwise for ez refill on poska pens ^^

Olivier Liebens Just a nice surprise for all the Counter-Clockwisers out there.
@@superfly2449 Does all posca penns alow you to unscrew it? Ive tried to do it clockwise, and it didnt come undone. Any ideas?
@@yourmama7704 Same! :'C
@@yourmama7704 you may need to use a pair of grips, but don't use it on the thickest part of the screw-cap as you only make it harder to unscrew.

Did you try to unscrew it in the opposite direction? Most are reversed. Hope that helps
the top white part comes off beautifully ...the sucker is reverse threaded!!!
Lindsay - saw on another channel, the top does come off - but it's counter intuitive - instead of lefty loosey it's righty loosey and lefty tighten
hmm, I tried that but it did not budge. Was it the extra fine one or the bullet tip?
I've taken the cap off mine too, it's on very, very tight! plus you can use a syringe to fill the pen to the right amount without guessing.

Soak and wash the nib section abd you will be good.
Thank you so much for this video! And I don't understand how the paint doesn't dry the nib???
It will if you leave it uncapped or don't use it often
Great tip...thank you.
Thanks for this
can def unscew those just have to go clockwise. might add some water and a few drops of paint. I had to use my channel lock pliers to unscrew mine.
With the Posca "unscrew=screw" and "screw=unscrew", I mean, for unscrewing turn the white part as if you want to screw it... I think it works...
You can unscrew the cap, only the oher way around, so around the left to get it open ;)
Hi lindsay
What are your thoughts on using acrylic mediums (Medium to Gloss), and Acrylic Finishers? Thanks in advance...
In these pens? I haven't thought about that

Check to see if they are reverse threaded... Many brands reverse thread the reservoir cap to prevent accidentally opening them
