    Right now they're $20 with free shipping on SOG's website, plus they have a 10% off code floating around. This thing looks ripe for mods

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow here in the UK the best price I can find for this is £39 which is just over $50. That's also the kind of price difference here with Leatherman and Gerber multitools too, i.e. more than double the US price.

    • @TheTuneAce
      @TheTuneAce 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that's unfortunate. I can usually find used Leathermans on ebay for a decent price. I guess the only issue is to find one where the seller will do international shipping :-/

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheTuneAce The sellers on ebay are happy to ship internationally, but ebay's policy is not to allow shipping of any bladed items to the UK afaik. Even if they could the shipping would bump up the price to the price we pay over here.

      @@maxlvledc Yes but fortunately I got a Nextool Mini Flagship for less than $20 in your money, shipping included. Scissors are almost as good as on the Snippet...and it has a bunch of other stuff on it too. So honestly I wouldn't be in the market for a Snippet or for that matter a LM Micra or Style CS, or Gerber Splice, even if I could get them at US prices. Honestly I have enough multitools and knives now for every scenario, from gentleman's urban carry to zombie apocalypse so it's probably just as well they aren't so cheap here otherwise I'd have dozens more.

    After 20 years, a few weeks ago I switched my keychain multitool. Went from the Leatherman Micra to the SOG Snippet. Love the handle design.

  • @SirCornholio

    For the key chain dangler mod, I think you would be better off trying to flip the clip, rather tan flipping the position of the lanyard ring. Because if you flipped the lanyard ring then your keys would be right up at the pivot of the scissor getting awkwardly positioned and in the way. But if you can flip the clip then the orientation is perfect for use of the scissors and keeping the keys from being right in between the the handles during use.

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, only issue is that the indent may make it impossible to use the clip

    I have been carrying this daily for a few weeks and love it. The scissors Amazing, Knife Blade plenty good enough for opening packages etc, Nail File works really well, Bottle Opener slash small flatblade works well after reshaping the flatblade where it will work for an eyeglass driver, large flatblade works well also great for light scraping, Plastic pick works for cleaning crevices like the back of my watch etc, tweezers will grab and remove a single arm hair with ease they would definitely work well on a splinter. I got this tool for $17 shipped from SOG and I'm so glad I did its very useful on a daily basis.

    Seems like a nice tool. I carry Swiss Army Rambler and a AAA light in my watch pocket for years! I ordered a Utica USA made minimaster....I guess been around for years...always wanted one...and to support an old company that still seems to be making some products in the US. Great review as always!

      Just looked it up, $35, good tool set (out of stock, unfortunately):
      Small Screwdriver
      Medium Screwdriver
      Modified Phillips
      Clip Blade
      US/Metric Ruler
      Scissors
      Lanyard Ring
      Cap Lifter/Lock
      Bottle Opener
      3 Hex Wrenches
      Nail File
      Tweezers
      How are the scissors? And the tweezers? Looking for a good multi tool for my partner and she'd mainly be using the grooming features

      @@drewlop Tweezers are on par with Swiss Army knife type. Scissors too.... It looks like Utica started making this tool in China...for lower price/ quality....USA one has been unavailable for about a year.....But it is still listed in current catalog as USA made...so hopefully they will start producing it again. I think product line for 2024 coming soon according to FB post....They make some nice stuff!

    In the 24 years I served in the US Army SOG stood for Same Old Garbage good to see they are doing something good. Also the Gerber Clutch, Vise, Splice, and Crucial all lock when you get a tool out knife, Philips, file/small screwdrivers, large screwdriver’s and the serrated blades. Three are keychain two are carabiner the largest and smallest. The Vise, Splice and Clutch are the same with different pliers or a scissor. And you can buy a bit kit (10) for 1/4” for $9.99 and use any 1/4” drive bit. I bought a brand new Leatherman Skeletool and hammer jammer I like the 1/4” 4mm and standard Leatherman bit holder makes it like a screwdriver. I didn’t read the fine print about the screws I ordered them today. I got a new in the box Leatherman Style CS and added the plastic bit holder. Now it’s down to the heavyweight. Any help in which one is better I would greatly appreciate it.

    I really like my Snippet too. I am with you that some of the inside implements are mediocre, but they are the best multitool scissors I've ever used. To be honest though, I've always kind of liked SOG's multitools despite their shortcomings. Leatherman and Victorinox are better on the whole of course, but SOG to me comes in at a solid 3rd place. I've been more impressed by them than Gerber anyway...

  • @Deibodese

    Glad to see SOG put out such a good tool!
    I recently got their PowerPint after seeing a bunch of mixed reviews for it. The reviewers essentially has follow-ups in which they admitted they were harder in their initial review than was fair, which was what finally convinced me to get it over a Leatherman Style PS.
    I have to echo the general sentiments of the reviewers before me: It’s a great concept marred by lackluster execution. I’d love for SOG to take the criticism and work on improving the actually manufacturing of the final product. It looks like the Snippet is a good platform to expand outward from in terms of honing their machining and getting the other products to turn out the way they should.

    I have a Squirt S4 which is similar to the Micra in many ways but the tools are accessible from the outside and the tweezers separate from the tool which is nice. But, I actually think this SOG might be a nicer tool overall, certainly has a much better file. The Squirt S4 has spring loaded scissors, which can be seen as a personal preference.

    sog power point is a great multi-tool from what I can seen. The gearing to the pliers is kinda sweet. Pliers seem great. Knife is ok but thin. for a mini multitool the powerpint ticks a lot of boxes and kinda seems like it is better than leatherman squirt.
