    If you want them stock, I suppose the V6 should be your choice if you can afford the extra cost. But if you want to buy and then modify, get the 4-cyl. Tons of mods for the 2.0, hardly any for the V6. ZZ Performance sells enough mods for the 2.0 to make it put down over 400hp to the wheels. With this kind of power and the feather-light weight of 3300lb, you'd be smoking many V8s.

    I don't own any of these and have no silly bias pretending one is better than the other, but I really think its awesome that Chevy gives enthusiasts 4 different engine choices for the Camaro. I'm afraid by the time i'm ready to buy the Camaro won't be around. Really wish more people would have bought more of these cars....sigh.

    a couple years on, I think its pretty evident that the 2.0t is a strong performer. It's lighter than the V6 and has more torque, with more potential for power adding modifications. After having my 2.0T for a year, I can say without reservation that it is totally enough power for this car. It's very quick and with 295 lb/ft on tap, it gets up to speed very rapidly. I will say, though, that the M6 is essential. Both the 2.0T and 3.6 V6 feel much more alive with the manual transmission.
    Basically, you pay extra for premium gas with the 2.0T, but you save money up front because the V6 is a 1500 dollar option, and with the 2.0T you get more torque and more "kick in the pants" feeling when driving. It's a great engine and definitely is the best value in the segment. I've had plenty of fast cars, including old Camaros with built small blocks. My 2.0T camaro is more fun than all of them.

    • @LikeAnOriginalBoss
      @LikeAnOriginalBoss 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Brian Lear I couldn’t agree more! I test drove a couple of v6 Camaros after purchasing my 2.0t, and I gotta say I expected a little more from a 6. I get thrown back in the seat WAY more in my 2.0t. You wouldn’t expect the small torque differences to be like night/day differences lol . Doesn’t sound as nice as the v6, but that’s really the only trade off.

    I drive 50 miles to work, one way. I used to drive a 2014 Silverado extended cab, with most features available at the time. The price on trucks, has increased so much, I asked about alternatives. The salesman told me that there were a lot of incentives on the Malibu, I couldn't go wrong. I researched them, and even picked one out. But later, my mouse started to wander. I found that the Camaro was not that much more, and I would drive a Camaro to work. My dad retired from GM, so I can get his employee pricing. I test drove both, the 4 cyl, and the 6 cyl. Gas mileage is not that different, plus add another 60 hp, I went with the 6 cyl., and have not regretted a second. I love it!

      275hp out of a 4-cyl engine with about 295-300ft lbs of torque, with less weight up front 5.5 sec 0-60, 13.8--1/4 mile time, excellent transmission choices, better ride and handling, and discount prices from the dealership and insurance companies. The 4-cyl 2016-18 Camaro is a most excellent choice. (Mustang too!) The V6 (4-cyl too) These new base/fleet 4&6-cyl Camaro/Mustang engines can be modded to really fly

    The Mustang has more room inside, but the Camaro seats are slightly more comfortable. I get 23-29 MPG's on 93 octane (depending on how I drive). The V6 Mustang gets 22-25 combined MPG's on 87 octane. I like my Camaro slightly more.

    four cylinder turbo would be my choice IF I wanted a camero.

    • @PaulRosberg
      @PaulRosberg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Try it in person. It sounds worse in person, you can't get the wind-up toy sound out of that engine, no matter how much you fiddle with the exhaust note.
      The V6 sounds better, and has more even torque and HP. And oddly, V6 takes regular gas, making it cost less for gas (the slight fuel efficiency edge of the turbo doesn't make up for having to put premium in it).
      Granted, if sound isn't an issue (is for me), either are very nice.

    GM should have never dropped the Bullet Proof 4.3 that was Known for Longevity...Just like the Older GREAT 3.8 v6..Bullet Proof in todays Standards...Them Nightmare gm 3.6 High Tech motors are pure trash motors ...Before you buy..Watch the TH-cam GM dealers dropping the whole engines and trans. just to change defective timing chains and plastic chain guides...Once that Warranty is Gone...You are Totally Screwed for 3-5 Grand or More...Yes 3.6 has more power than its previous motors..BUT if it can't go 200-300k miles, like the previous 4.3v6 and 3.8 v6...Why Bother...US workingPoor people can't afford a new car every 2-3 yrs...I want a an engine that can go the Distsnce, if I choose to keep the vehicle for 5-10yrs...Thats one of main reasons GM dropped the 3.6 and 4.3...They Lasted too LONG...2nd was the Bull Chit EPA emission mandates...

    Come on people. Either of these cars would be a great option. There's no one better than the fucking other. The 2.0 turbo is awesome! It's a different kind of feel and for a 4cyld, you can't go wrong. Tune that bitch to make it greater. The v6 is always a good selection as well. Let's quit the bullshit about them being in separate classes. Their not, and will never be. I assure you that 2.0 turbo 4cyld will stay on the back wheels if not the front of that v6.
    Do your research!

      The 2.0 motor is GM ecotec originally designed by Adam Opel. Not sure about Toyota using vvt, but the first to use vvt in a production car was Alfa in 1980. Vvt-i was introduced by Toyota in the 90's but GM and Opel have been using a version of this engine long before vvt was being used. Vvt was introduced to the ecotec in the Gen2 engine when they started adding superchargers and turbos to the production vehicles. Nothing Toyota in this engine sorry.

    • @hogrod
      @hogrod 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's close to a $10,000 price premium going from a 1LT 2.0T to a 1SS 6.2L V8. 0-60mph is 5.5sec for the turbo 4, 14sec@100mph 1/4 mile. The 6.2L 0-60mph is 4.1sec and quarter mile is 12.4sec@115mph.
      Is the better sounding engine worth that price? Is 1.4seconds faster 0-60mph or 1.6sec 1/4 mile time with a 15mph higher trap speed? For most people probably not.

      Gotta remember that engine's (the 5.3L LS4) engineering was 12 years older than this car. No V6 offered for the same car could beat it. That and it was keep tame so that damage wasn't done to the trans as a result of massive torque output. That's why you see modded LS4 cars blowing up bone stock transmissions.
      Anyway, you're comparing a 12 year old motor to something brand new..
