  • In this video I showcase the 5 reasons why the four cylinder Camaro is a Serious Performance car. This 2.0 Turbo now has over 60,000 miles and during that time I have noticed the outstanding handling and performance due to the low curb weight. With Massive mid - range torque I have enjoyed every mile and have only scratched the surface of what this new Camaro platform is capable of. Make sure to subscribe if you like what you see.

    Nice video bro. Just test drove a 2018 RS the past wkend and I loved it, but coming from a base model Lexus that's a few years old, the Camaro seemed a bit limited in regards to the amenities. Also, it's a 2 door car but damn they might as well not even had put in rear seats, nobody and I mean nobody is getting back there. But aside from that, I'd definitely grab one as a second car, but not as a year long daily driver that has a family.

      If your going automatic transmission I would go with the SS or even the V6 for the smooth power band. But if you don't want to spend over 25k and want some good bang for your buck (especially when in a manual). Then the 2.0 Turbo Camaro is a great choice for all of the reasons I named in the video. Its better at being a performance car than an all around car like the SS. The V6 is good all around and it sounds better but its slow and theres no changing that.

    Great video Jimmy! When I bought my 2017 2.0T RS with the 8 speed I paid $23,280. I went with cloth because I don't like leather. I only kept it for 3 months and traded for a 2017 1SS 6 speed and I paid $32,950 for it so both were a steal. There are times when I miss my 2.0 especially with the mpg and how light it feels in the corners compared to my SS. All 3 versions 4, 6 and 8 are phenomenal cars and I totally agree that the 2.0T doesn't get the respect it deserves. If I had the money I'd love to have my 2.0 for a DD and my SS for the weekends. I literally get 9 mpg less with the SS in town and the 6 speed is a chore in traffic despite the light clutch.

    • @Diordna11
      @Diordna11 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can deal with the sound of the 2.0 then I would say go for it. I know it sounds crazy, but that is primarily what pushed me to an SS. There is something about that sound coming out of a Camaro that just isn't right for me. Now the 6 cylinder with NPP sounds great and runs nicely on 87 octane. I strongly recommend the optional Brembo's on the 2.0 because the stock breaks are pretty weak.

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If anyone plans on getting the 2.0 turbo for daily driving I would say go automatic, beware the short gearing in the manuals! great for a drag race, awful for city driving. 1st gear in the 2.0 tops at 34 mph, in the SS it tops at 55 mph. that's a giant difference in the two manual transmissions.

    • @slash11lipo
      @slash11lipo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Coolest Courier - 100% agree, but the auto doesn't always shift as quick as I liked. Sometimes it would shift quick and other times it had considerable lag regardless of the mode. I'm sure a tranny tune would help tremendously. As a side note, the 6 speed in the turbo is not the same one that's in the SS and the same goes for the 8 speed. I'm not sure how much additional torque either transmission will take in the turbo.

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you! I appreciate it. Let me give you a run down on choosing your next car. Of course this is just my opinion but here it goes.
      Now that I've had 68000 miles of experience with the new Camaro platform. Here's my opinion on the first three engines.
      For the most bang for your buck with a stock car that you won't feel the need to modify hardly at all I would say the SS is Leaps and Bounds better than the 2.0 and the V6. I would do everything in your power to try to find a base model used one at Carmax or another used Market, they can be had for under 30 grand easy.
      As for the V6 I think it is the superior car to the 2.0 if you absolutely 100% do not want to modify your car in any way. It will be smooth, reliable, handle great and do all of the usual Camaro things, except for accelerate, the V6 is not very quick, there's no getting around that and if you buy one you can expect it to be a little slow for the duration of ownership because modifying a V6 is very expensive.
      Now the 2.0 Turbo is by far the most interesting of the bunch. In stock form it feels quicker than the V6 but it is not as smooth of an engine and it is unreliable if you do not immediately install a catch can for the oil that turbo creates.
      Now like I said if you install a catch can and eventually some steel charge pipes, a simple tune on this car unleashes the Beast. The torque is almost up there with the SS motor, it will not be quite as fast but it's pretty damn close to it.
      So if you plan to tune the 2.0 Turbo I do think it is a way better and more fun experience driving that car than a V6, it's not even comparable.
      On a side note I would like to add that I personally think the Fiesta ST and maybe even the Focus ST are the kings of bang for your buck for a fun car, they are older so you can get them for around 19 k. They are not as fun as a new Camaro SS but out of the box they both Drive better than a 2.0 Turbo Camaro and V6 Camaro. But as you can see from my other video when you tune both cars the Camaro is the faster car and it's also nicer on the inside.
      Lastly I want to say, If you have the power to get a manual, I would absolutely do it. I think it makes any car a little more special, its more connection to the car and can make you a much better driver in the long term.
      I hope all that helps, I wanted to be thorough because I wish someone would have told me this when I bought my 2.0. Good luck!

      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thaison Nguyen well if you look at my more recent videos the motor blew on my car. I have a cracked piston and I don't recommend the 2.0 Turbo Camaro if you're planning to modify the car at all. If you want to save a ton of money in the long run get your Camaro or Mustang at Carmax and get their hundred and fifty thousand mile warranty with the zero deductible. If you're looking at one of the pony cars I would personally get a used Mustang GT from CarMax. Or try to find a Camaro SS there. But if you don't need that much power and you don't plan to modify the 2.0 Turbo I would still go there just get a really high warranty though

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I wouldn't pay over 20K for a base model and I wouldn't pay over 24K for a fully loaded one if you're looking at used. If you're looking for a car though you should totally test drive a Fiesta ST, they have them lightly used for 17 K and I drove a few recently and they are insanely fun

      @@TheCoolestCourier Awesome thank you very much, It was a tie up between a camaro and the Mustang ecoboost but the turn circle on the mustangs i find is genuinely awful so
      it concerned me as a daily driver if i ever go downtown or am in tight parking garages, on top of the fact when i drove it as a rental for 2 weeks i found the low beams on the car
      are very low and borderline unusable on anything but the most well lit main roads. Not sure about the camaro as I've yet to drive one, but the interior exterior and option of a good performance V6 really attracted me as the challenger/charger V6 is borderline Family car slow and sounds like nothing.

      Have you thought about a used 370Z? I've seen nice ones for 16k. Calculate how much a lease would be on a V6 camaro. its most likely right around $16,000 to drive it for 36 months then give it back. Or at the end of 3 years you could own a 370Z and now you have an asset, you can drive that thing forever, or sell it. That's what I would do personally.
      I'm also uploading a review tonight that is a great alternative to the V6 Camaro and 370Z. It will be up in about an hour. I worked hard on it lol

      @@TheCoolestCourier the 370Z is a bit too low and small for me in terms of it's feeling, ontop of the fact the car won't be parked in a driveway but instead a ditch in front of my apartment, and last time i looked maybe I'm wrong but the 370Z has next to nothing for ground clearance.
      Also I know the V6 is rather thirsty in the 370Z at least more so than the camaro from my experience, and I'm a slightly bigger guy so the kind of small buckets the 370Z has is somewhat uncomfortable which is why i was originally considering a Challenger but that V6 it has is just to anemic and slow for my own personal taste.
      On Top of the fact I'm more leasing with the high chance of buying at the end, My main reason for leasing is due to the fact that this will be my first ever car and coming from a family who hates anything north american car wise I'm inherently a bit hesitant to get one of these cars even though i absolutely love them.

    Im interested in buying or leasing this Camaro in V6 or a even I4 but Ive found out that the Camaro has reliability issues. Is that a concern for me. How has your Camaro been in Quality and reliability? The other car I'm looking at is the Nissan 370Z but I like this Camaro better.

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Good luck!

    • @rudfil
      @rudfil 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jimmy for your generous feedback , but since I'm older and don't want to do mods as this Camaro will be my daily driver and don't want to spend for Insur. & gas on the fiery SS, its the turbo or a V6. I am over 50 and want it to be my last "sports car" and daily driver for the next 4 or 5 years before I end up with a Camry or something , lol. In other words will the simple 2LT 2.0 turbo/automatic last me 5 years with no issues over ..say, a V6 Camaro 2LT? thanks

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Since you're looking for a vehicle to be nice and reliable in stock form I think my vote between the two Camaros would have to go to the V6. It's quite a lovely engine. It's plenty fast in automatic form, also you should definitely go out of your way to find one equipped with the dual mode quad exhaust, it sounds amazing.
      The new Camaros have only been out 3 years so I cannot say for sure on the reliability but when you add a turbo to any vehicle it complicates everything and does suck some of the lifespan away from it which is why I think the V6 May last longer.
      So my final verdict would be if you are buying an automatic vehicle for sure then the V6 Camaro is going to be the perfect car for you. If you are interested in buying a manual then I still think Ford's ST lineup is still by far the way to go if you're concerned with a car being fun to drive. My only gripe with the way the new Camaros Drive is that the throttle is just very lazy and I wish it had a sharper feel to it. But other than that they are amazing.

    I think I will get a car like this because I want own a car out of dodge Chevy ford but I don’t want to be too broke so I’ve decided to get the v6 on all of them, so far I want a 2014sxt plus if I get a AWD I wouldn’t mind, and I want a Camaro but not the newest year more like a 2015 but the cheapest model since I just want it for how they look not to compete with everyone

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My best advice for not being broke is don't mess with cars. I got out of the car scene a long time ago and switched to motorcycles and never looked back. Unparalleled fun while being 10 times cheaper in most cases.
      Do not finance vehicles, only buy what you can save up for.

      @@TheCoolestCourier that’s where there’s a problem you think I might like what you like, but you can’t just tell people not to get into car scene, I like cars even if it ain’t gonna be cheap, but I have thought about motorcycles but the way people are with them I don’t want to see myself become a asshole and think I have every right to do what those people who give motorcycles a bad name, and yes I plan on not financing them I just want the old 2015 and below years of them not the new ones, also if I do get in a incident I rather be in a car than a motorcycle I only plan on buying one is to ride in city’s and that’s it go in and out for dates but for long roads a car is better

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah cars on long trips are way way better. Cars are definitely safer. I was deep into cars and the motorcycle scene, I've seen both, they're pretty much the same as far as respectful people to asshole ratio. Both cars and bikes have their share.
      Being into cars is fantastic unless the primary goal is excitement and adrenaline. Which I was always chasing with cars. The Camaro was too buttoned up. It did not give that to me at all. I have owned some Hondas that were actually more exciting to drive. The most exciting car I've ever driven is a Shelby GT350. After driving that I started riding about 6 months later and bought an $8,000 XSR 700 brand new and I couldn't believe that an $8,000 bike was infinitely more exciting and crazier to operate on the road than that Shelby, my favorite car, 65k purpose built for a track fun. As cliche as it sounds, it felt like a cage in comparison.

      @__safeguard2154 it's been four years for me and I haven't been pulled over, I don't do anything excessively dumb and cops are kind of cool around here. Definitely wear full gear . A Camaro, Challenger or Mustang is a joke if it does not have a V8. I have driven several and they just feel lost without the rumble and torque of the V8 and also kinda pointless. It is like only buying half of it.

    • @TheCoolestCourier
      @TheCoolestCourier  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah overall it's way better with the V8. but the handling of that car with the small motor in there is absolutely incredible. I'm not sure if you've driven the new Camaros but they all handle super well so when you reduce it by 400lbs its really light on its feet. I don't have this car anymore but I was really into the handling more than anything. I don't really Chase horsepower with cars. I ride sport bikes so every car is kind of slow to me. Unless it's a Tesla or a 911 Turbo S. Those two launch better than bikes honestly.
