- The beauty of youtube and videos is that it's asynchronous communication, meaning that you are the only one talking and no one can butt in and interrupt you. This obviously is both a good and a bad thing. If the information being presented is true and honest and correct, then it pays to have your full attention, BUT if what's being presented is outright false and lying, then you the poor viewer just got suckered. So now we react to a local shop's super unscientific analysis of how aftermarket filters work and the outright misrepresenting K&N filters when the item he's "testing" isn't even K&N! what JOKE

If a high quality racing filter can withstand high performance, I don't see why It cannot handle normal day to day operation. Ano point ng MG? No offense sakanila pero ang point ata nila eh kung wala ka pambili ng k&n wag ipilit. Stay stock. Both will do its job, its just that k&n will be of higher quality.
MG's point is to always stay stock. Takot sila bumili ng performace parts kase di naman sila marunong mag modify ng sasakyan. Change oil at linis aircon lang alam nila. Stay in your lane MG and let the professionals talk.

The manufacturers place those filters because of cost, and manufacturers are at a budget/cost cap. Those are the most cost efficient and compliant filters. For example, we have a price difference of 3k-4k pesos for the stock filter to the performance ones. Surely 4000 pesos is nothing to the manufacturer for that change in a single unit pero imagine thousands of units they’ll have to roll out with that 4000 peso price increase because of the filter alone, now the cost becomes very significant and manufacturers budget has to increase as well or it might exceed the allocated budget making it impractical for manufacturers to change it to performance filters. Wouldn’t any business want to have to keep on selling and selling those filters or would they rather put something that would last the vehicles’ life?

AEM air filter much better airflow plus much better filtration than stock! and washable to.. btw AEM is also owned by k&n.. so win-win.. at bobo po talaga master garage.. ang dami daming mis info sa mga vids nya..

Knn and AEM filter are excellent replacement filter. I choose AEM ( same manufacturer din ata ng KNN correct if I am wrong) and it works great with a remap done.
Yan si MG ( master siomai) yung tipong gusto mo lang mag pa change oil pero ang dami ng gagawin sa car mo.
Ganito lang yan. MG is not an aftermarket perfomance shop. Of course sasabihin nila ibalik sa stock parts/condition for less complicated/risk. Sabi nga ni uncle Ben "great power comes great responsibility". If client chose na maglagay ng aftermarket filter, tapos di naman susundin ang instruction, edi si client ang me problema. Ngayon dinala nya sa MG which is not a performance shop, what will you expect na irereccomend/suggest? Kung gusto mo talaga lumakas auto mo, marami kang iisipin, maraming babantayan, more responsibility because labas na ng ika nga "manufacturer's design'. Alam ko, mas masaya kung more torque, hp, handling o kung ano pa man trip mo. More "alaga" ang kelangan. Ready ka ba financially? Emotionally? Physically? May time ka ba? Kung mayaman ka na at marami kang extra time, edi go.
Walang mali sa inyo sa totoo lang kung lalawakan nyo ang utak nyo. Sabagay healthy ung mga ganitong content. Lahat kayo may point.
it is the job of MG to educate customers po. they lack proper education. its not all the time na experience ang basehan. dapat pati industru standards alam nila.

not all are d same there alike. pero simula ng natuto ako mag maneho ok talaga ang K&N high performance talaga compare sa iba not to mention nalang sa brand. pricey cya but the performance is way farther than other competitors. na mimislead lang ang iba dahil nga mgkakaparehas ang itsura but performance and stability sadly hnd. kudos to you sir very well and brave said.
Kaya nga baket galet na galet sa Racing Filters kung stock lang at ginagamit daily. Tama si speedlab dun ka sa mga quality na filter at hindi lahat ng filter pantay2 merong superior at merong sh*t filtration..

Wow guess he thinks he knows better....I have had a race filter in my car (HKS) for over 5 years now....I get it cleaned everytime I get an oil change....I have had K&N drop racing filters in a few cars in the past and as long as you do regular maintenance on it then you will get a slight performance boost and mileage increase.....

Sir Sid, pwede rin po ba mag add kayo ng review sa video nila about changing your engine oil BRAND? pag papa palit palit daw ng brand but same viscosity masama parin daw sa health ng engine kasi daw mag kakaiba daw ng mga additives yung mga engine oil ngayon? mag tatalo daw yung magkaibang brand ng engine oil sa internals ng engine kapg nag halo and sisirain yung engine? if memory serves right binangit nila yung brand ng amsoil and they said never buy a foreign engine oil, 😅

Changing brands is fine. Changing viscosity isnt. Never mix different oils in a single oil change
My new vehicle extended warranty company has in its contract that ANY change from factory spec parts in air intake or exhaust will not may void warranty so I called customer support and asked and they said not to change anything because they ask the mechanic to list all modifications to justify not honoring the contract..

You're absolutely right, not all aftermarket air filters are alike, it depends on the filter media they use. There are those having very high flow but very poor filtration, there are those which have higher filtration but offers lower air flow, and there are those in between. There are those oiled which needs attention when cleaning and dried which you can clean with just water and soap. From there you already should know what to choose, depending on the application. Most of these filters market themselves as Drop-In and Won't Void your Warranty so from there you should already see that they're good for daily use, it's just that you need to maintain these aftermarket filters properly. ( I didn't put in any brands to avoid contest :D )

How many of the owners here have actually driven their vehicles past 100,000 kilometers using only K&N filter. What are your experiences so far?
American here. I put a K&N filter on my Mazda 3 2015 @ 80k miles and currently its at 202k. Wear I honestly cannot tell the wear and tear due to me doing oil changes about every 4 months or 5-7k miles (mostly 5k miles); engine feels as good as I first drove it except a more worn suspension. Just changed my air filter back to the stock paper due to emissions testing, but to compare the two the K&N filter has a better throttle response compared to stock air filter.

If the mechanic's point was to show that your air flow internals can get dirty faster with a high flow filter, then yes.. it does. Not the end of the world, because nothing a quick MAF cleaner / Carb cleaner can't handle.

Unlike the stock filter, K&N filter gives your engine a better performance. I’ve been using the same K&N air filter on my 2007 Toyota Sienna in the USA for at least 10 years and I never had any issue with it. Just make sure to clean it in a regular basis. You will need to clean it more often if you live or drive in dusty areas. Yes it is more expensive than the stock filter or other aftermarket filters but in the long run you are going to save money because you don’t have to buy a replacement filter each time your disposable filter becomes dirty, just clean your K&N filter and use it over and over again.

Tuned= at 100kph ur RPM gets lower 1.5k. Because of increase HP and torque...

If there's anything i dont like about aftermarket filters, its the oil that you put in the media which in my opinion that no matter how little you apply it on the filter, that oil gets suck in the intake system and sticks in the wall inside then collects fine dust particles.
Or am i just doing it incorrectly?😅
If your MAF sensor is oily, youre putting too much. If you are talking about intercooler, anti shudder valve, thats normal to be oily due to blowby
maybe you're overoiling and applying oil on both sides
i didnt notice any difference after fitting K&N filter.

Sa large particle contamination filtration (over 5 microns) results, K&N ay nasa 2972 while other are just 0-127.
Sa burst test, 421 sa K&N, while others are only 18-252.

as a simple person na nakikinood lang, i think both are saying correct things.
it just so happen that these two people have different ways of explaining things. they also have different ways of tackling a certain topic. magkaiba kasi sila ng audience. technical people vs laymans.

k&n filters are ok. reusable pero need mo lagyan ng oil. mejo need mo lang lagi maglinis ng filter, ang advantage di kna bibili ng bago. ang down side is yung oil vapor from the filter can possibly accumulate and later block the sensors (with small dusts particles) in your intake system. not always but it happens. thats why I stick with just the stock one: salpak and forget, no issues to watch out and no maintenance to think about. palitan lang after a certain milage.

performance wise di gaano ramdam. may onting torque pero negligible. di naman ako nakikipag racing sa mga stoplight. 😅 mejo naging malakas lang yung engine noise. sa fuel economy negligible lang din yung change.

racing filter can increase the amount of dirt and dust going to your engine. In the long it increases the risk of wear and tear of your engine components..
depenfds on the brand and type. dont make a 1 size fits all analysis. otherwise, you are wrong.

Matindi ang Master Garage na yan, overpriced sa piyesa yan, may nagpagawa ng clutch dyan ng urvan at ang presyo nila ng clutch components eh halos doble pa sa mismong casa ng nissan
