- In this video I fish with a one-of-a-kind AliExpress rod that you can pick up for under $10. But how badly does it suck?

I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years. Not only do I say, “See you buddy” when I release a catch, but now I say it when other TH-camrs release fish on their videos … 😅
I'm so glad you touched on this rod again. The 270 was my first Tenkara Rod off of your recommendation. it was super affordable for me to buy me and the kids some rods so we could try this out to see if we like this style of fishing. Then it was on time for some DRAGONtail rods.
You should offer a small line of "Cya Buddy!" merch
I bought some of those 270 rods from Amazon under the brand name Uxcell.
Biggest difference I noticed was the Uxcell / Fido rods felt more of a tug when I had a fish instead of a tapping like with my other tenkara rods.
GOD Bless you and your families
I actually own some of these budget rods and quite like them . They're in my price range and alot of fun. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Tristan! Beautiful creek and lovely trout in good numbers. Looks like the pine bark beetles are no stranger to that area. So the logical question is: do you know of commercial providers of custom cork rod handles?
There are a number of outlets (Cabela's and the like, as well as companies specifically dedicated to rod building) that offer rod-building components, including both cork handles and individual cork rings. Cork is pretty easy to work with, and I have made handles both with a lathe and simply by using sheets of sandpaper and doing it by hand at my desk. The Iowa Driftless would be a great place to try out your handiwork once you've built them :)
I'll tell you what I appreciate, your attitude. You aint not rod snob, and I appreciate that.
Another wonderful outing! I always appreciate those establishing drone shots. And, yes, I still get a kick out of using those “cheap yellow rods,” and they’ve certainly helped a lot of people get into tenkara (which I see as a great plus).
Nice one!!! Just what I needed with a morning cup...Cheers!!!!
Man i love your videos, many years now. I like the simplicity and your approach! Fishing is fun and joy. Interaction with nature, full of emotions. Now i can wait for your next one!!😊
Great fun fishing with the cheap yellow rod. Love the first fish, and the surprise in your voice. thanks for sharing.
Another fun vid! I have one of those 270's and they're great little pack rods! Sure, you don't want a 3 pound lunker on the end of one, but for pan size fish to eat or to have fun in confined spaces they work fine.
Beautiful video! I enjoyed it immensely. I have two of those "yellow bamboo" rods. They work fine. I also put a cork handle on one of them. It is about an eight foot rod. It is much better than the ten foot one I have. For the price, they are great rods. I don't worry about breaking them like I do with pricey rods. Thanks for this great video!
You should consider sharpening your hooks with a fine grit Japanese water stone. You'll hook more of those light hits.
You were able to catch some sizeable fish on that pretty little creek. Doesn't get much better!
Always look forward to your fishing adventures in those beautiful settings catching and releasing those those beautiful trout
You are right, what an incredible location. I will take a relatively slow day to catch wild trout in a place like that.
Yes! stunning creek and beautiful fish!
Delightful. Thank you!
Always enjoy living vicariously thru your efforts. Thanks!
Nice job catching fish 🐟 great day thx Tristan
Lol! Five seconds into this video I thought to myself I hope he’s carrying bear spray! 🐻
Tristan, is it possible for a old disabled lady with limited walking ability to complete the Wyoming Cutthroat Slam ? Loved to see the Fine Spotted Cutthroat... Destiny
I would like to get into tenkara fishing question for you is do you make your own level line ❓ I'm asking because I haven't figured out what to use
Mi dispiace immensamente non riuscire a capire ciò che dici ma la passione e l’ intuito mi aiutano ciaooo
Where is the best place to buy cork handles to add to these rods? You know, for science?
One day I'd like to see you just cut a branch off a tree, tie on some line and lure and catch some trout.
Watched you fish with this rod but you did not show the rod. Wuddup with that?
Tried my first tenkara rod today (tenkara rod co, sierra) spent 80% of the time untangling my line from itself. Any tips? Feels like the furled line is so light it can't cast far. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.
I spent a lot of time untangling when I started too. Level line may be easier. Were you casting into wind? It may also be easier to start with casting lightly weighted flies.
@@NathanSeibt not much wind that I was aware of. Looking at a weighted fly and level line (assuming because it's lighter?) Seems good suggestions!
“You know I said one more but…” #standard
Not good. 16" rainbow torn off lillian from the rod tip on the aggressive take, and it's gone with the whole rig. It's OK only for tiny fish or for teaching kids fishing.
Ya know. It would break my heart to have to harm a bear but it doesn't stop me from carrying a large bore solution to the issue of my desire not to be bear poop.
よく釣れるなぁ、放流魚なのかな?
