    Another great video. Congratulations on the channel growth, it's well earned. You've done a great job of breaking down all of this PI stuff to easily digested nuggets for those of us who are barely PI literate.

    CQRLog looks like a great logging program for the Raspberry Pi. There are few to none that work with Pi and it would be huge to see a how to install and get it running video. It is also a free program which is a plus.
    I have also learned a great deal from your video's which makes integrating the Pi a nice experience.
    Thank you Jason.

    Nice video for the year end Jason. My last SIG, "Linux for Hams" was last night at the PCARS Clubhouse. I had log on issues with our WLAN, we share with a County organization, and had to succumb to the club Windows PC to log on to my youtube account so we could watch your "Must Have Pi Accessories" video. I explained the importance of having at least 2 SDHC #10 cards for normal use and backup. I mentioned to our group some topics I would like to present at our 4 SIG's in 2020 (we meet whenever there is a 5th Tuesday; Tuesday's are Special Interest Group night) and PAT Winlink, fldigi, and flrig seemed to be favorites. I took numbers for each person that logged into the SIG to randomly pick 4 numbers for prizes that I brought. Two were mini-SDCARD carriers and the 2 bonus prizes were a 32 GB SDHC #10 card with Raspian Buster installed. Seems when I brought up your video a couple hams knew of you already. Most everyone left by 2230 hours. Another single member stayed with my dog Kobe and I until nearly 0130, January 1st. We were involved with an install on one my friend's Pi's and missed the stroke of midnight. Best 73 to all into 2020. Terry KB8AMZ

    I was having problems getting JS8Call to work with Flrig. I have used flrig in the past but found it easier to use rig control withing the app easier. I DID get JS8 working by upgraging from V2.0.0 (November?) to version 2.1.1. works now...

    I didn't see my 2 portable radios on the list. Yaesu FT-891 and Elecraft KX2. Is there any hope of configuring either of these radios with FLRIG on the Pi? You and your channel have really hit a stride. I remember watching some of your early videos last winter & spring. Then I kind of lost track of you until your raspberry videos cranked up in the most recent months. Back then I even for a while got you mixed up with the Ham Radio Concepts channel. You and Julian OH8STN do a fantastic job with the Pi - Ham Radio related stuff!! I'm looking forward to your content in 2020. Thanks Gerald KG0VA.

    1) Do you use a metal case for the PI ? I assume this will diminish or eliminated the WIFI RF out?
    2) Is there any reason why a USB WIFI adapter could not be used that would allow external WIFI antennas.
    3) I have heard that many USB "sound card" outputs possess a DC bias which continuously trigger the vox circuit, Have you seen this?

    • @KM4ACK
      @KM4ACK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. I don't use a metal case on my pi.
      2. Haven't tried but I don't see why not.
      3. Haven't tried this either. When using one of the cheap USB sound cards amzn.to/2ZF9qFu I use PTT over CAT to trigger the radio.

    Start with....

    Hey Jason! I really have appreciated your videos as I've been setting up my Raspberry Pi! Your videos are very clear, concise and super helpful! I noticed in your video about needed accessories that you mentioned the sabrent sound card interface. I chose this to try to control my FT-857D because of current budget. Did you try setting up this particular interface by chance? If so, did you have any problems? For some reason, flrig is not seeing my serial ports when I use this device. I tried running lsusb in terminal, and the interface is showing up. Flrig just isn't seeing it. Any thoughts? Thank you so much for your time. 73 Jason, de K8KNX.

      @@KM4ACK I apologize if this sounds like a stupid question, but I ended up finding a good deal on the signalink and got it. The question... Does the signalink help with rig control (i.e. frequency adjustment, etc?) or do you use another cable for that? Do you have two cables in the back of the pi (one to the signalink and one to the CAT port in the back of the radio)? I am completely new to digital modes and am still figuring out the hardware configuration. Thank you for your help.
