Thanks for sharing. Its too bad as the Camry is such a great car. Its all about the net profit for these legacy brands, and I am sure Toyota is not the only that is doing this ie. maximizing profit per car in whatever market they can. This video discussed supply but not pricing where the Stealerships will add on extra market adjustment costs and other fees driving the price up. They get away with it for the most part because if you dont pay up, with limited supply someone else will pay. Friends of ours just went through this and it was not a pleasant experience...

I have waited 15 months on a Prius XLE Premium Plug in (formerly the Prime). The dealer looked out three months from today and there is no allocation. 18 months. So if you still want one in Ontario, you are out of luck. Funny way to sell cars, but Toyota Canada holds all the cards.
I agree with the point about why US gets the bulk of the RAV4 made in Canada. They make about $10k more per unit compared to the US. Check the inventory levels of dealers in US. Houston, LA etc dealers have 100+ units each of RAV 4 most with VIN #'s starting with 2.
It is quite a bit more, not sure if it's $10k though. I can see sending more to U.S. if both Canadian and US lots are empty. However, what is the cost of a lost customer in Canada if the car is just going to sit on a US lot for a month or more?

I sat in a durango 2 years ago with this interior and wow is it quite nice. I don’t feel it’s dated at all on the inside partially because i’m massively against these bmw, kia/hyundai, mercedes one piece dash length screen designs but Cylinder deactivation needs to be taken out. Chevy also has issues with that technology. If honda can’t do it.. no one should. Other than that the durango has sooooo much space and is very comfortable.
Toyota's Q4 sales were down 2.7% in the United States. Hybrids were up over 50% last year. Even just a small understanding of the Auto industry and you'd be able to figure out that they aren't able to produce enough hybrids. North Carolina battery plant up and running within months. Where were Toyota's Q4 sales down 20%? Canada? Lol! They've proven for a few years now that they definitely aren't prioritizing Canada in any way.
My younger brother and his wife, who are both MAGA, asked me why I said I don't have faith in people. I said I didn't want to discuss it with them. Voting for Trump again is an unforgiveable sin to me. Not only will Trump hurt their daughters but ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ community, the global economy, minorities and world peace. FYI, my older brother acts just like Trump and has been the bane of my existence for over 60 yrs. For my brother to vote in someone almost exactly like Trump, who he doesn't like, is inexplicable to me.
HOW can you be so woke (?) with your daughters or anyones in team sports playing against biological boys, and sharing the locker room? Most people with common sense don’t want the rights of women sacrificed to any minority. Trump won among white women 53% to 46% over Harris, so 53% voted against their own interests? He won 42% of Latino voters this time vs 35% in 2020. Common sense is what got Trump elected again. World peace? Russia took Crimea under Obama and came after Ukraine again under Biden. Who was pres in between? Why did many NATO countries FINALLY start paying attention to their financial commitments and bulking up defenses? But we can give Biden credit for this: his precarious diplomacy has brought Finland and Sweden into NATO.
For PHEVs specifically, they were much cheaper in Canada (NX PHEV is 59k CAD and 62k USD) so it made no sense for Toyota/Lexus to sell it in Canada if there is US demand. Regarding the Golf R and GTI, the biggest reason for the sales bump in Canada and the United States was because this is the last year for a manual transmission.VW is foolish
Vehicles can't change based on one or even two presidential administrations, takes years of planning to bring vehicles to market, change is slow and incremental.
American car brands are already suffering, I can't imagine Canada having it's own car brand because we are only 1/10 of U.S. population, there's just not enough business.
VW North America - trying to please everyone, ended up pleasing no one. Golf series is the only exception. Everything Else they sell in NA is blah at best
So Canadian is having hard time buying a hybrid they wanted is also caused by federal government poor economic performance which drives Canadian dollars weak.😢
Trump is clueless about the effects of tariffs. I think 25% is insane. The entire American economy could grind to a halt. What is the effect of the economy slowing? It will cause ripple effects exactly the opposite of what he would like to achieve. Many, many of the assembly plants that built these vehicles are gone. It would take many years to get plants up and running to help.
It is a bargaining chip for US to strike a deal that favours them and to force other nations to fix some problems like borders and drugs. It is not meant to take effect (or at least to stay for very long). I wouldn’t be too concerned about the talks but more about the actions.
I don't think he's an idiot. I suspect he does not care about the harm he'll cause by increased prices to American consumers. He wants drama and to brag that he's won.
Bargaining chip? It's asinine and everyone knows it. There's a point where threatening things everyone knows is stupid just makes you look less powerful, not more. Even worse, it makes it clear that your threats are empty, which is exactly what we don't need at a worldwide level right now.
I think he knows, but he likes to create uncertainty to get what he wants, whatever the cause to the American people. Last time Trump introduced a tariff on Canada’s steel etc, and Carrier, Harley Davison etc closed their factories, but he got what he wanted.
Re Tariffs - 45/47 has promised tax breaks to his Billionaire Buddies for sponsoring his political campaign - the money collected will likely go towards that regardless of the effect on the economy and likely he will persecute/prosecute with his unchecked power any news outlets that advise the public of what’s really going on. There’s a reason why he is so fascinated with Dictators around the world as he’s learning from them. Fasten your seatbelts :-/

Myself and 3 other people I know who were looking at Toyota hybrid cars were all told that no inventory so we just all walked away and bought cars from other brands, Subaru and Honda. Regarding the Golf R and GTI, the biggest reason for the sales bump in Canada and the United States was because this is the last year for a manual transmission.VW is foolish
Everyone needs to drive a Mitsubishi Mirage to save the environment.
The Mirage is the last true 'small' vehicle out there
Great show Andrea! I get a feeling once Trump back in the office, there will be a big changer on vehicles. Cheers! ☕️☕️
Vehicles can't change based on one or even two presidential administrations, takes years of planning to bring vehicles to market, change is slow and incremental.
California alone has more people than canada. ofc the US will get way more cars.
My question is, why can't Canadian have there their own car brands
You're kidding right?
American car brands are already suffering, I can't imagine Canada having it's own car brand because we are only 1/10 of U.S. population, there's just not enough business.
$$$
that would be a disaster
Most of the real nice VWs are not sold in NA- Toureg, arteon, golf all track, the German made Tiguan, just to name a few.
the golf all track was fantastic
VW North America - trying to please everyone, ended up pleasing no one.
Golf series is the only exception. Everything Else they sell in NA is blah at best
So you can't get a question answered unless you on Instagram???
I know .. . .
So Canadian is having hard time buying a hybrid they wanted is also caused by federal government poor economic performance which drives Canadian dollars weak.😢
good midsize SUV = Hyundai Santa FE
Once Canada is part of the US, problem solved. 😅
Glad I got my RX 350h from Canada before Trump takes office 🎉
Lexus and Toyota hybrids short all over.
When Canada becomes 51st US state you will get all the cars in the world
Just wait until Canada is our 51st state - no tariffs or wait time :)
Haha…don’t hold your breath! Will NEVER happen.
@ We likely wouldn’t accept them as a state but we’ll subjugate them somehow (trade agreement, etc.).
Toyota maybe making more $ in the US, but losing sales in Canada. Myself and 3 other people I know who were looking at Toyota hybrid cars were all told that no inventory so we just all walked away and bought cars from other brands, Subaru and Honda. Not going to wait for Toyota just because it's a Toyota. Not so sure Toyota is managing their inventory properly.
