Electrify America sends an email summerizing the session so that is not a guess. It is a little higher priced but I feel it has been worth it. Some of that is still being at the beginning of a newer technology. In California, chargers are common so that has not been an issue. We had a 240 plug installed in the garage and I charge at home sometimes. It has been way cheaper than my previous SUV with a V8 - an Infiniti FX50. The overhead view on the camera, the suspension adjusting for bumps it senses in the road, the power and comfort, all mix for a great experience. I drove 4 different Teslas that freinds and family have. The interior noise, the poor build quality, the lack of intuitive controls, all were annoying. @@Middleguy37 I paid $50k for my $61k MSRP GV60 Advanced. I got a $3k MSRP discount and $7500 tax credit (lease and immediately buy out). I did not want to pay $70k.
@@Middleguy37 Imagine thinking this isn't the best car on the market for $70k (actually $62.5K with tax credit). It's faster than a Corvette Stingray, which costs $65K and the Genesis is roughly a *4000X* better place to spend time in (unless you're a working class hero who thinks all this insane luxury is actually a downside). It's also faster than any EV not from Tesla, and Teslas are just glued together pieces of cardboard with no tactile buttons where the capacitive turn signals don't even work half the time on the new Highland models. Yuck!
Nice-looking car. I’m not sure the interior is big enough to suit me. But the big obstacle is price - I’m not going to be in the market for a $70,000 vehicle.
Cost isn't an issue for me as I have this as a company car option. I'd only have to pay £40/month tax Whereas the Tesla 3 and Y would cost me over £180/month It makes no sense but list price does not determine my tax cost
I would love more information on how this continuously adjustable damper works. I've got Mag-ride in my C7 Z51 and I understand how it works (voltage changes the shock's fluid viscosity, car rides stiffer or softer) but I have not heard much about the GV60s suspension. It uses a camera to scan the road then somehow changes the suspension damping? but how? I don't need a bigger vehicle like the Y... I like that this is smaller, more like a hot-hatch then an CUV. Thanks to the EV hate these things sell for significantly less then sticker. On the used market 50% off is already happening. Better build quality then Tesla and Genesis has traditional dealerships for service.
4.515m length for the GV60 and 4.750m for the Tesla - that 23.5cm difference is realised mostly in boot space. 4 people’s camping stuff into model Y yeah- as some 500+L under the parcel shelf. Only 432L in the GV60! The longer GV70 4.715m has about the same interior cabin space but bigger boot at 504L. For me I wanted a shorter car and with only one child it was amble enough and eased UK city parking and multi-storey parking where parking spaces are not very big. The attractiveness of the cheaper price more powerful electrified GV70 is only curtailed by the absence of a Long range version- GV70 AWD no option and 283 miles WLTP cf GV60 RWD 321 miles! You makes your choice.
@Antiguan_Dart yes but car length does not equal space. I can for sure say the 60 felt like more space although the frunk is laughable. This could be things like the 60 having much more space in between driver and passenger as well
Genesis have confirmed wireless apple car play and android auto will be coming via a software update, actually I think the other gv models are a better buy, the base premier model, may not have the performance, but the range is far better, plus the rest of the car and the interior is the same as this one... but at much less money
When the world of electric cars will look like this: you connect it, you pour the electric energy in it like you pour a coffe in a cup, or gas into the gas tank and the car will run for at least 400 miles, then OK. The badge sign remind of Aston Martin? The front end Toyota Camry / Toyota Avensis, the interior aims to be the Lexus and the price is over the Lexus? And under the hood there is a very complicated refrigerator/freezer/heat pump? Is it a car or the heating/cooling centre for a family house? Thank you, but NO!!! V8 or V6 or hybrid is OK. But this is an excellent review. Thanks AMD ;-)
It’s taking a long time for people to come around to electric cars, but Hyundai and Kia are doing some awesome things not just style wise but technologically.
Now that prices on these are significantly lower, closer to $61k new, with a current lease discount of $17500 before they work out the lease payment, and admittedly the Model Y is also cheaper, would you still say this isn’t a good deal? Asking because I’m considering it.
FWIW, it turns out that Genesis’ lease rate is sky high. Their monthly payments even after the $17,500 for the Performance are higher by a long margin than similarly priced (at discounted rate of Genesis) EVs. This is unfortunate.
@@michaelmallon6346 That's what's great about EVs, very little to break compared ton ICE cars. No transmission, engine, muffler, spark plugs, timing belt. Even brakes are barely used due to regeneration.
If you're gonna buy an EV, it should be: #1 INEXPENSIVE. #2 from a company that has a long history. Any company can go out of business 3 or 4 years down the road, but you're best buying from a company with a track record. #3 from a company with good maintenance and repair history. (I trust Cadillac). HYUNDAI/ KIA are low key dominating the affordable "premium" EV market. I say premium because these aren't truly "luxury" cars, but they are higher quality than the cheapest economy EV. Tesla is constantly battling Hyundai/Kia with lower prices. When it comes to having to get vehicles repaired, I trust Hyundai/Kia more than Tesla.
A very informative and helpful video but a few problems with it. First, they make a big deal out of the price and range. Yes, the Performance model is expensive, with low range especially in cold conditions. However there was almost no mention of the other models RWD and AWD, that offer performance from good to excellent and much better range at significantly lower prices. Second, he criticizes the car for being small. For many people a high quality, luxury car is a positive. A lot of us don't need rear seats for 3 linebackers and luggage space for a 3 month vacation. Small then becomes a virtue..easier parking, less garage space etc. Third he seems to prefer the Tesla's giant infotainment screen. Again for many of us, having a touch screen and all that visual data in the center of the dash, drawing the driver's eyes away from the road is safety hazard. The GV60 set up ,including heads up display and plenty of manual controls is far superior.
For me a car is transportation.... All the extra stuff is absolutely wonderful. The kind of stuff that works on a trip. So rent for a trip ❤ Think about how much time you car sits? I just want practical, affordable, realistic, transportation ❤❤❤

The Hyundai Ionic 5 and Kia EV6 are comparable to the Model Y. Good review BUT this car should not be compared to the Model Y - it’s more comparable to higher end luxury brands such as Audi, Mercedes.

Amd, I think the eventual model for electric cars will involve a universal sized battery, removed and replaced at a service station much like we refuel now. I don’t see a future for stopping every few hours to recharge.
These charge extremely quickly. 10-80% charge in 18minutes. Edmunds just calculated the EV6 and Ioniq5 (this car’s sisters) to charge at 769miles per hour. I strongly recommend everyone who thinks charging an EV takes hours to download “A Better Route Planner” and see how long you would actually need to stop with a given EV along your normal road trip routes. It’s free. And it’s eye opening if you’re steeped in EV myths.
GJ! Pls consider reviewing the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Also the Nissan Sentra And finally, a Chinese car if u possibly get the chance :) Appreciated!
My problems with the car are apart from the cost would be the gaping front grill treatment plus the C pillar design. Both are trying way too hard and look plain odd, giving the car a short dumpy appearance not justifying the cost.
Don't fix it if it isn't broken. Do you know what you get when you create a car to look unique and different from everything else? You get cars that end up looking like a Toyota Prius or something that resembles a spaceship. I say copy all the beauty that has come from vehicle designs. I don't care what a car is copying as long as it is appealing to my eyes.
You forgot one major thing when you choose to compare only the advantages of tesla model Y Ride quality? Not a single word Suspension quality? Noise at the cabin after 80-100 km? It's looks like at the end of your review you not objective review 😮
The non-performance, the “Advanced” trim is $10k less. Then after $7,500 tax credit if you lease, that’s $53k. You can get 3-5k on the hood, then it’s below $50k. And the Advance trim has 250 mile range.
Never thought I'd live to see the day of the $70,000 Hyundai. I still don't understand how you get to that emergency charge port door release from the trunk if the battery is dead. You need to open the trunk first..
If you wince over the $71k price you should buy a used 1yr-old GV60 and not a crappy Y that doesn’t have basic stuff like ultrasonic sensors, 360 degree camera view, working wiper sensors, actually working ADAS, apple CarPlay&CarKey support.

I will not buy a electric car until it can go over 1,000 miles before I have to recharge it, I know that sounds like I lot of miles but I don't want to charge up every 2 to 4 and wait around for it to charge up !
Yeah my regular car has a 50 gallon gas tank so I can fill it up for $250 and then drive for 1000 miles before I have to get gas again! No way I’ll buy an EV until it can match that! (Yeah I’m kidding)
Since nobody is buying EVs anymore I've been looking for a great deal on one of these but I can't find one. I've seen some deals on the BZ4X and the Soltera though. I mean with nobody buying them, while they stack up by the millions and gather dust you'd think I'd be able to find an amazing deal. Come on Genesis, I'll buy that car that nobody else wants because the EV revolution is over an people only want hybrids and Toyota Corollas.
I get tesla sales are down bro but that doesn't mean the EV revolution is over. It's just that americans keep hoping someone will make the infrastruture work and EA isn't up to the task. EV sales are always tied to gas prices anyhow. 2022 happens again and everyone will sht their pants and again, buy evs in mass.
That isn't an ordinary CA plate (plate, not plates) but rather a CA distributor plate, with "distributor" defined in CVC § 296 as "any person other than a manufacturer who sells or distributes new vehicles subject to registration under this Code . . . to dealers in this state and maintains representatives for the purpose of contacting dealers or prospective dealers in this state." The fact that this GV60 wears such a plate, while AMD's shop is located in the greater Chicago area, most likely means that this is a press vehicle supplied through the manufacturer for public relations/testing and review purposes. Genesis Motor America is headquartered in Fountain Valley (CA) which further explains the presence of a CA distributor plate on this particular vehicle. Although no longer owned by GMA (manufacturer) because of the DST plate designation, it also indicates that an MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) has yet to be assigned for this vehicle to a selling dealership's inventory, which is why this particular plate carries the "DST" designation and not "DLR". 😎

Anyone who buys an EV is insane. Better to light your BBQ grill with $100 bills. Lucid is giving theirs away with $650 a month leases on $95K cars; same with Mercedes----can walk out with an EQE that cost double what an TLX costs for the same exact lease payment. Or try a Toyota BZ4X; that is so unpopular you can lease one for $169 a month!
I've been hearing Ionic 5 battery packs cost over $50,000. EVs depreciate like cell phones. I keep meeting early adopters, who ruined their finances with EV depreciation. If you really must have an EV, pay cash, and lucky dip the used market. Buy a house before you start trading EVs. Too many EV owners are now claiming it's "unfair" that they now can't afford a home. The current inflation, is a primary feature of our "transition". Inflation will be bad for 2 or 3 decades. We built our prosperity, and lifted ourselves out of poverty, with affordable vehicles, and easy access to fuel. Now we're undoing that prosperity, for an environmental lie. The worst polluting vehicle is one that breaks down a lot, or is un-fixable. China has huge EV grave yards, full of almost new EVs. They don't fix EVs, they swap them out....just like cell phone manufactures.
I agree for the ICE cars. I've only bought Honda/Toyota/Lexus/Acura in the past. However, EVs have very few things that can break so I'm ok with owning Genesis and even German EVs.

@@octaviodominguez7772 bro the battery in egmp systems won't let the battery go below 0F. You can even now manually start preconditioning now. Even with cold weather it still charges faster than all teslas.
Great review as always!
I've owned 65 cars. This is WAY best of the lot. I'll buy the mint green next time. If you charge at home short range is only a factor on a trip. Just plan for it.

@@Middleguy37 like what exactly are you paying 70k for yourself ? Not sure what costs 70k is even comparable to this
@@Middleguy37 Imagine thinking this isn't the best car on the market for $70k (actually $62.5K with tax credit). Yuck!
I got mine when it 1st came out at 63k..great car
You should review a Rivian or Hyundai ionic 5 N
I love that you compare it to something similar to let us know what you would recommend
I would love to see a review of three cars side by side. But that would be hard for good relations with manufacturers.
Nice-looking car. I’m not sure the interior is big enough to suit me. But the big obstacle is price - I’m not going to be in the market for a $70,000 vehicle.
Cost isn't an issue for me as I have this as a company car option.
I'd only have to pay £40/month tax
Whereas the Tesla 3 and Y would cost me over £180/month
It makes no sense but list price does not determine my tax cost
Id really like to see you review the new Genesis GV -70
GV60 is a nice competition for the Tesla Model 3. It's smaller than the Model Y by a lot.
I dropped a model y for a 60 I see no big size difference and the 60 is way better built.
For me I wanted a shorter car and with only one child it was amble enough and eased
UK city parking and multi-storey parking where parking spaces are not very big.

Between the H/K/G triplets, I like the IONIQ 5 the most.
That is a VERY good looking car!

@@GraysonA until you have to pay for repairs
@@michaelmallon6346 That's what's great about EVs, very little to break compared ton ICE cars. No transmission, engine, muffler, spark plugs, timing belt. Even brakes are barely used due to regeneration.
If you're gonna buy an EV, it should be:
#1 INEXPENSIVE.

Let’s hope you are not in a job that involves a lot of „thinking“ because you clearly are not very good at it.

My problems with the car are apart from the cost would be the gaping front grill treatment plus the C pillar design. Both are trying way too hard and look plain odd, giving the car a short dumpy appearance not justifying the cost.
This car is sexier than any of the rubbish Europe produce.
Not loving the face recognition. I love the charging door, button close.

Yeah my regular car has a 50 gallon gas tank so I can fill it up for $250 and then drive for 1000 miles before I have to get gas again! No way I’ll buy an EV until it can match that! (Yeah I’m kidding)

California plates

A Lexus has the heart of a Toyota and a Genesis has the heart of a Hyundai. There is no way I am paying $71K for a Hyundai-based vehicle.
I agree for the ICE cars. I've only bought Honda/Toyota/Lexus/Acura in the past. However, EVs have very few things that can break so I'm ok with owning Genesis and even German EVs.
