    Very good tips there! This will give most athletes something to look at for their next session. One thing that I see with most athletes is that beginner swimmers tend to swim at a very high cadence. Slow it down folks and try to swim more efficiently. Think on those tips above and you're on your way to smashing that swim this season!

    Very nice tip about the bow wave. I always end up having water in my mouth. I'll try to keep my head in water to create the bow wave.

    One thing I would add is that many don't 'finish' their stroke. Since I swim the over arm side stroke, I see every one in the pool. So many won't get full extension, and full pull length, mostly starting the recover at about their waist line. Every day, I swim lengths with the purpose of taking as few of strokes as possible.

    breathing breathing breathing - if you can't breathe properly none of the other things really matter - I've found that breathing has been my biggest obstacle

    Hi.. just started taking swimming lessons at 55. Opening eyes under water makes me disoriented/dizzy. Is it normal ?

    I teach swimming and I've had adults quit because I teach "doggy paddle" aka front paddle first. They think it's babyish and a waste of time and for some bizarre reason only want to learn side breathing..
    I've just had two new adults join and I can tell straight away that the teacher taught arms over straight away. There's zero catch, no support.
    Even swimschools I've worked at want get the arms over as soon as possible. I don't get what the big deal is with arms over (for beginners).

    A swimming coach showed me a belt full of ball bearings that he teaches his swimmers how much to rotate when they can hear the ball bearings rocking from one side to the other . Should I buy one of these? Liam

      Sounds expensive. If you want rotation use a Pull Boy.

    #gtncoachescorner Hello GTN! My personal flaw in swimming is that in open water I don’t keep my head/face in the water. In a pool, I seem to do fine. But then I struggle to be comfortable with my face in the water outside. Is there a way to get over the fact that it seems like you’re just staring into a deep, dark abyss while swimming in open water? Or do I just have to just keep practicing and suck it up? Thanks for all that you guys put into this channel and any tips are greatly appreciated!

      do you practice your sighting when swimming in the pool so you have a plan like looking up every 3-5 breaths or so? that way you get into that routine.

      @@clydea.hutchisoniv5742 To be honest I don't do a ton of pool swimming. I've only done it a few times with a swim coach to work on a couple things, but I think my big struggle in open water is maybe a fear of putting my face in the water that I can't see anything in? Not sure if that's a thing or not. I love the tip you gave though and I appreciate your input!

    Maybe can someone explain, when I am swimming I inhale quite alot of water, and it disrupts me, could be my head is to lifted back and not rotating enough?

    • @lasertunguus

      Try breathing from the side of your mouth. For me it somehow makes it easier to handle some of the water that ends up in my mouth, too.

    • @jowylie5432
      @jowylie5432 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It might help to look towards your under arm when breathing. It helps to stop you from looking forward when breathing and keeps your head down. You don’t have to aim your whole face towards your underarm but if your eyes are looking there, your face will change angle slightly.
