    This is the third generation Toyota RAV4 - This thing single handedly created the Compact Crossover SUV segment when it launched back in the mid 90s! Today, I borrowed this car here in Orlando, Florida to show you why I think this is the best compact SUV you can get for the money and why it is soon to be a Classic. After that, I will show you some of my favorite features, take it for a drive, and in the end I will point out some of the things you should LOOK for if you’re planning on buying one.
    [Background]
    The Toyota RAV4, short for "Recreational Active Vehicle with 4-Wheel Drive," first appeared on the scene in the mid-1990s. It was like a pioneer, blending the best of both worlds: the rugged capabilities of an SUV and the maneuverability of a compact car. Over the years, it has evolved and adapted, embracing new technologies and design cues. This 3rd generation model is a testament to its enduring legacy, offering a mix of nostalgia and innovation that makes every ride a charming blast from the past.
    Exterior Charm:
    With the 2011 RAV4, it's like Toyota took a classic recipe and sprinkled it with a dash of contemporary flair. The exterior design exudes a timeless appeal, with clean lines that manage to capture attention without being overly flashy. It's the kind of car that can fit seamlessly into any setting, from city streets to sandy shores. The optional sunroof opens up the interior and the swinging tailgate, like a magic portal, invites you to sit back at camp and enjoy the sunset.
    Interior Comfort:
    Slide inside, and you'll find a well-designed comfy cabin with plenty of visibility. The seating is comfortable offering ample support for long journeys or spontaneous road trips. With the rear seats folded down, you'll have enough cargo space to rival Mary Poppins' bottomless bag. The dashboard layout is intuitive and well-organized.
    Tech Wizardry:
    As far as tech, there isn’t a whole lot compared to new cars, but you do have plenty of aftermarket options if you want to upgrade. They did have an available touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and more with just a tap. There was also an available rear view camera which makes parking and reversing a breeze.
    Under the hood you’ll find two engine options, a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder w/ VVT-i producing 166 horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 165 pound-feet of torque @ 4000 rpm. And depending on the model you choose, a 3.5-liter V6 w/ VVT-i producing 269 horsepower @ 6200 rpm and 246 pound-feet of torque @ 4700 rpm. RAV4s equipped with the V6 are little rocket ships. Many people pull these 2GR-FE engines and swap them into other cars, like the Toyota MR2. All that power is sent to either the front wheels, or to all 4 tires with the all-wheel drive option, through either a 4-spd or a 5-spd automatic transmission.
    Conclusion:
    In the realm of compact SUVs, the 2011 Toyota RAV4 reigns as a captivating time traveler that seamlessly blends history with modern comfort and convenience. Its classic charm, coupled with tech-savvy features and dependable performance, make it a true gem that continues to shine. So, if you're in the market for a vehicle that bridges the gap between the past and the present, the 2011 RAV4 might just be the perfect vehicle to embark on your next adventure.

      @@topo520 keep an eye on that water pump. Also, changing the spark plugs is an expensive job too.

    Be sure and point your side mirrors out from body.
    This car has huge blind spots due to wide b, c and d pillars.
    Otherwise my 2010 is pretty awesome.

    Miguel do you recommend the 2010 v6 sport appearance package without the spare tire in the back. One is available in my area with 92k miles for 6,800.

    • @Miguelsgarage
      @Miguelsgarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds like a great deal if in good condition! Be sure to follow my checklist. You’re approaching 100k miles, where a lot of major things need maintenance. If you’d like, email me the details including the VIN and I’ll help you sort through it. Miguelsgarage@outlook.com

    How many miles do they usually run? I got a 2011 with 130k miles but I think and hope not.. I feel like the transmission it’s going out. It shakes when I stop and when I go around 30mph I feel it shaking 😢

    • @Miguelsgarage
      @Miguelsgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shaking could be a number of things! Maybe it's your transmission or motor mounts, maybe it needs a tune up... Without personally taking a look at it, these issues can be hard to diagnose. Bring it to a local mechanic you trust. 130K miles on a RAV4 that has been properly maintained is nothing!
