Hello everyone. Just want to give an update that approximately five years after this video, Blueberry and I parted ways on June 1st, 2021. I am now the owner of a 2021 RAV4 Hybrid Limited. I want to release a review on the car at some point, I just need to find the time. I hope everyone has found this video to be helpful, it's a great everyday car. It gets you from point A to point B and it did that for me all the way until the end. In this video I had 72,905 miles on the car, by the time of trade in, the car had 142,177 miles, safe to say I piled on the miles. Over that time, I had the shocks and struts replaced, replaced a coolant line, and the rest was general maintenance (oil changes, breaks, etc). I hope my new car brings the same amount of reliability for years to come!
@@billnotpay I swear I will get to it eventually! Life is just in the way now. I was six years younger and in college when I made this. Now that full time job thing is taking up all of my time haha
For a first time video this beats a lot of the reviews out there and is down to earth simple advice that car buyers are looking for . Well done. Post a long term review next .
I own a 11 Rav 4WD Limited with the V6. It has every option available for 11. Since I retired I only drive 5-6K miles a year. I’ll keep it for another 10-15 years bc by then the rubber door seals and the CV boots will need to be replaced, so we’ll donate it to our church and then we’ll replace it with either a Rav hybrid or a Lexus hybrid. That will be the last vehicle I’ll ever have to buy again.
This review covers all the nontechnical questions that most reviewers skip and it is therefore very useful in helping get a sense of the car and what it is like to,own and drive.
I am buying this exact same year and color from Carvana and I'm so excited to get it! They are doing the 150 point inspection right now. Thanks for letting me see what my car looks like in person and it was a great review!
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it! I hope you enjoy the car, long may she run. You're getting a great one. I just went over 140,000 miles and still no mechanical issues *knock on wood*
Hello from the UK, i have a 06 D4D 6 gear Rav4, its top of range for the UK and i totally love it, mine has the sun roof running boards and also and 6 cd auto changer, I been off road in it and never lets me down, also great hairy legs . Nice. great vid mate, keep it up.
Great review, different in some areas from what the professional reviewers said. They focus more on what compares to other cars that most people will never even see instead of how an everyday buyer would consider. Does the car work well yes it does! haha
Great review! I just bought a 2010 Honda CRV but now I'm wishing I had taken more time to look at the RAV4's. I'm going to test drive some 2011-2012's and may simply sell the Honda if I find a sweet RAV4 with good miles.
You did very well dude, your review was clear and concise .. I am gonna get a RAV4 like yours, no need no get a brand new one as they depreciate in value the minute it driven off the store..
Just put down a deposit on the exact car as your blueberry, but it's black. Guess it will be my blackberry. Really enjoyed your video, thank you! And good luck with your new vehicle, sounds amazing!!!
My wife has the 2011 limited 2wd. I love hers a ton and I actually have desires to buy a limited v6 awd for myself. Also, the rear door. Made in Japan, so I guess the drive on the left? But the FJ cruiser door opens away from the road. The opposite and it's weird. I'll live with the side open because it has a full size spare tire.
Peter--nice video, but: Some of the "buckets" are bottle holders not necessarily "cup holders" (no biggie). Also next to the Side Mirror button is the "MP3/Aux" jack. The rear door opens "to the curb (to the right)" NOT "to the curve". I'm getting a Rav4 2010 Limited (leather, JBL 6 speakers, fog lights, tow package, 6 cyl., etc.) soon so I appreciate the time you took to publish this video. Drive safely!
Thanks Steve! I kinda winged it in this video haha if I remade it, I would want to make sure I got it all right. I might do a review on the new 2021 RAV4 I purchased, we'll see. Good luck with your new RAV! Drive safe!
Do you still have this bad boy? I couldn’t find any update videos. Also wanted to point out that your RAV4 looks to be a fully loaded (or close to it) Limited model, with option packages added. These Limiteds didn’t come standard with leather seats or JBL audio.
Yes, I do! I've been wanting to film an update video, but life has come in the way of that... I just passed 128,000 miles and (knock on wood) I haven't had a single issue. I've just performed regular maintenance for the most part... The car is definitely fully-loaded. I recently put in an aftermarket radio with Apple Carplay because the car only has an AUX port and I wanted something a little more.
Just got a 2 wheel drive one of these as a hand me down, crazy right? But it has the same amount of miles as this one in the vid, 4 years later. I honestly feel lucky.
Looking to get one of these as my first vehicle living in the UP. Lots of snow :D I've found it difficult to find one with the remote start and keyless entry and a V6. If you put this one up for sale be sure to say something haha
good job on the review,I watched the whole thing, but I clicked on the photo that represents this video because it had a photo of the v6. This is a v4 so the photo misrepresents the review! cheers
Who can tell me about the clear container connected to the black looking pipe near the front tire driver side. What is that clear container for that’s connected to the black looking think pipe? Please assist
It is very easy to pair for a car from 2011... Though I will tell you that when you get a call, the ring will scare the life out of you. It's very loud and abrupt.
Nice review,I like it.Don't worry about the hard plastic thingy,at the end of the day who cares....it's not like guys with expensive soft touch dashes spend time feeling and admiring it.As you say it's a car, made for driving.
I would look at websites like Auto Trader to find a car like this. The resale value of these cars with low milage is actually pretty high, probably around $10,000 or so. I still have this car and it is still kicking at 135,000+ miles with ZERO issues.
No, you cannot. The 2012 version of this car brought in bluetooth audio, so if you are looking to wirelessly connect I would look for 2012 and up. The only way to listen to music in this car is through the AUX.
It automatically activates based on weather/environmental conditions. You can engage the "4 Wheel Drive Lock" mode if you need it in a pinch but it deactivates once you go over 25 MPH.
@@bradh6185 No, it does. The "4 Wheel Drive Lock" system is if you have to get through snow/mud or you're towing. It evenly distributes the torque to all four wheels. The AWD system will automatically activate during bad weather conditions at any speed.
Yes, I still have the car. I'm making an update video soon. No problems with the car at all. Just normal maintenance, oil changes, new tires. I replaced the shocks and struts, but not because they needed too. They could have gone probably another 50,000 miles but I decided to do it because it was a good deal.
The car is holding up pretty well. I really like it, I would definitely go for the V6 though. I'm pretty sure the V6 is a 5 speed, sometimes I wish the car had some more power and I know for sure the V6 does.
bigp0296 Thanks for the fast reply man! I test drove one earlier and man those v6 rav4s are fast! I'm going back tomorrow to see if I can get a good deal. Cheers!
