I saw this movie in the movie theater with my older brother when I was 14 years old. When Optimus Prime died, it was completely quiet in the movie theater, then tears started happening
As cynical and greedy the decision was, I'll always love not feeling patronized. Besides, character death is actually a thing now in American cartoons thanks to this movie
I was a teen when this amazing movie hit theaters! But some children were introduced to metal music for the first time and traumatized by the deaths of their favorite autobots! Realism at its best!
Optimus died in the movie, but the writers brought him back in Season 3 of the G1 cartoon and kept him as the leader through the end of the TV show/cartoon
I always feel bad for folks whose introduction to Transformers is the Bay Movies. THIS movie is SOOOOOOOOO much better. Especially the soundtrack, it RAWKS!
And the most curious thing is that Unicron cannot die and he has the ability to travel to other Universes and he is the only one who does not have variants in the Transformers Multiverse, meaning that he is a Unique being, so all the Unicrons that have appeared in both series and movies are the same Unicron.
20:36 for me personally, Magnus’s death was the most shocking. He looked and felt like the next true leader of the autobots (especially since his toy was a white Optimus Prime).
@@trypticon8619 I saw Transformers One Friday and I loved it. I still like the 86 movie more, but TF One is officially the second-best Transformers movie ever made.
@@xtrafunk .... There is nothing indicating "humor" in your text. No, "lol" or "lmao"..... none of that. Sarcastic maybe but not humor. I stick with what I stated. You are not giving any indication via text that you know the movie.
When this movie came out, like many kids' movies of the 80's, parents were took scare to allow kids to go along. So unless a parent or a trusted adult when with them, kids movies didn't do as well as studios like. On top of the fact, the movie killed off Prime, which upset the kids that did go. This movie didn't do as well as the studio would have liked. However, over time, this became a cult classic and is recognized by Transformer fans for the brilliant movie of is. Also, the soundtrack rocks. I took my niece with me to go see it and loved it. Years later, I would show it to my nephew, and he loved it as well. I own the soundtrack, which is pure 80s hair metal. The movie started the Third Season of The Transformer, which takes place in the future, and primarily on Cybertron. The idea of the movie was to kill off older characters for new ones. But escribe was still upset over Prime, so the studio bright him back. A major lesson was learned, don't fuck with Prime. Hell, ever the comic book brought Prime back. Side note. Leonard Nimoy, who did the voice of Galvertron also voiced Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon.
The "You've Got The Touch" scene is solely responsible for the legion of Otptimus-stans out there.. Peter Cullen has a set of panets full of giant-sized energon cubes! =)
Remember the movie was Hasbros way of changing old product to new product that why for first time there is actually death in it where there wasn't before in the series
Luv’d you enthusiasm of the movie- I watched the movie in 2nd grade and couldn’t believe Optimus died…heart breaking as a kid! Movie was great …..unfortunately season 3 was horrible and was a injustice to Rodimus
I was 7 when i saw this movie. It's basically how I learned death was a real thing. A lot of the main transformers we had been watching on tv for a year or two since the premiere aired died in this movie. It's crazy to think the reason all this death happens in the story is just that they wanted to make an entirely new line of toys. Transformers was a commercial first an a show second.
My fave Transformer is Megatron in G1. Ratchet was in the Autobot Shuttle when the Decepticons murdered them all. He was the white bot that looked similar to Ironhide.
i'msure someone else has told you, but just in case, Optimus does indeed return in he 3rd season of the show. they realized what a huge mistake they made after responses to the film came in. The execs were just like "We were clearing the way for a new toy line of all new figures" but they didn't understand just how attached kids were to the characters. The GI Joe move (1987 i think, its great you should watch it) changed it's ending because they had already completed it killing off a major character, so they added a line of dialogue stating that he woke up from a coma instead of being dead LOL
As an 80's kid, I watched this a couple of times in the local theatre and watching Optimus Prime (along with the other major characters from the Saturday morning cartoon) die was not easy. Unfortunately, Hasbro needed an excuse to discontinue old toys and create new ones for parents to buy.
Tubi TV has the entire G1 series. Also there is a bridge episode that is called "Scramble city" from the end of season 2 to the movie. It is Japanese but English over Dubs can be found. I call it the first combiner war. It can be found on TH-cam.
At the time Hasbro thought they were doing something good by killing off most of the G1 line. They learned quite fast that it was a bad idea and hurt the franchise.
As a guy who grew up with Transformers and this movie I find it surprising anyone who hasn't seen the original series and movie would even recognize the characters. They have no personality in the Bay movies... and are kinda cheesy in most of the series that came after.

"I've got better things to do tonight than die!" Leave it to Springer to come up with a no-nonsense badass quote.
Everytime someone asks why some of them had to die, I just say "discontinued, buy new toy!"
"Mourn product then get excited for new product!"
As cynical and greedy the decision was, I'll always love not feeling patronized. Besides, character death is actually a thing now in American cartoons thanks to this movie
1:44 Peter Cullen talking to himself :)

Hey, Steve Jablonsky and Linkin Park were great for the Bayverse music-wise.
this soundtrack FUCKS
As an 80s baby that saw this in theaters I just wanna say... Welcome to the family bro 💪🏾
Till All Are One
Till all are one.
Ratchet dies on the shuttle with Ifonhide and Prowl…
and Brawn

My absolute favorite is a no brainer, its Optimus Prime ...ever since the Transformers G1 premiered in 1984
20:36 for me personally, Magnus’s death was the most shocking. He looked and felt like the next true leader of the autobots (especially since his toy was a white Optimus Prime).
He did not die, he was chain and rename.
it's the actual opposite for me, I watch this and it makes me regret ever watching Michael Bay's
Same, haven’t seen transformers one yet, but this is still my favorite transformers movie

You're going to see a big surprise about Optimus prime
The look of your face on reaction…😄 it’s killing me!😂
Ratchet dies in the beginning in the shuttle with Ironhide
This takes place between season 2 and 3 of the original 80’s cartoon.
27:52 Ratchet died alongside Ironhide on the shuttle death scene when Megatron and crew broke in.
Saw this in theaters when I was 13, so awesome!
"starscream always finds a way to escape" well its a kids movie whats the worst that could happen to him
To die. Have you watched the movie even? Cause your text is indicating that you have not.

Ratchet (white / red robot) died in the ship with prowl, Brawn and Iron Hide when starscream shot them with megatron.

Many toys I had died in this, including my favorite Prowl (cop car, lasted about 4 minutes into movie).
Ratchet died in the beginning when Ironhide did he was the white autobot with a similar design to Ironhide
You should watch the G1 1984-1988 Transformer tv series all 4 seasons.
If he do, he need to remember that season 2 and season 3 have the movie in the middle

This occurs after season 2 of the original G1 cartoon. Season 3 starts after the movie.
This is my favorite all time movie. I saw it in theaters in 86. I've loved it ever since
You got a *TOUCH!*
Another great classic to check out is SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 1 AND 2. Cult hits forever
Best reaction to one of my all time favorite movies-THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE. Subscribed.
Did Ironhide just die? Yes. But that was Brawn that got his face blown off by Megatron's cannon.
Ah, only Primus Himself had the power to destroy Unicron.

They killed him off to launching the next series of toys. They got to much backlash who they brought him back in the red dust saga during the tv show.
I got more than just one favorite transformer but if I had to pick just one it would be Optimus prime
I love the soundtrack
Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal (Beast Wars)
I also like hot rod Jetfire Omega supreme
Swoop the pterodactyl Autobot has a tail.
Season 3 pickups after the 1986 movies.
