Set my Makita torque drill aside over a year ago after giving up on getting a spade bit out. Fortunately the bit bit had a hole in the wide part so put a screw thru there and a washer holding the release open and…4 tries and it worked!! Thank you. Was gonna have to buy another for a job today.
I had a small drill bit stuck. I put crc on it and even tho 2 different people tried getting it out it took 24 hours to soak the crc into it to get it out. I have more bought a smaller adapter bit so it might be a better option.
Mercifully at 2:44 we could then easily hear you when you spoke closer to the microphone. Before watching your video, I also started the same way using a channel lock, then WD-40. But when all else fails, why not extend and hold the chuck forward, then use the channel lock to temporarily grip and lock on the extended chuck? My Montana-brand bit shaft is much shorter than yours, making it difficult to use a hammer and screwdriver approach to help dislodge the frozen bit. Apparently the Montana brand impact bits have a very soft shank that easily freeze up in the Makita chuck, despite very light work - I only sunk a 1/4 inch diameter hole down 1 inch in a 2x4 piece of wood. Anyway, my next step after locking the chuck with the channel lock is try a second channel lock on the bit in close proximity to the first channel lock - and they use pry leverage at different angles. Geesh!
My bits no longer stay in the chuck....they fall right out. Any ideas about what may have gone wrong? I don't believe I'm missing any part. The collar doesn't seem to do anything at this point....the bit slides in/out regardless of the collar (pulled out or not).
Hammer and screwdriver, worked like magic 💪🏻
