Building a Bow-Legged Gazebo with a Chainsaw in the Middle of Nowhere. #42

  • Chainsaw milling is great fun when you live in a tent in the forest. You have unlimited lumber to build anything you can imagine and it comes at almost no cost.
This time, I decide to build a screened in porch in the wilderness and use trees with the biggest bends in them for the corner supports. Will it work? Frankly I don't know and don't really care. But I'm going to try!
If you are interested in seeing the whole Gazebo project, here is a link to the playlist:
    • Gazebo Built w/ an Ala...
Because I’ve gotten so many questions about the gear that I use on the channel, here are some of the most important pieces I use every day:
My Favorite Piece of Gear- Chainsaw Helmet amzn.to/3uuW5xB
    Granberg Chainsaw Mill amzn.to/3cdRXvn
How I Keep the Mosquitoes Away! amzn.to/3frenvh
    Big, Black Log-Peeling Knife - Becker BK9 amzn.to/3oZIeOH
The Trailer I Use Behind My 4 Wheeler- Yutrax amzn.to/3fvO8DK
Bug Net Rooms I Use amzn.to/3uwOK0l
Portable Heaters in My Tent and the Deer Castle amzn.to/3frQ7Jh
Thank you all so much for supporting this crazy endeavor! Without you folks donating to Surviving Ringworm, I wouldn't be able to even consider staying out here in the wilderness a second year making videos. You seriously blow my mind!

Awesome video! That bird is a Great Crested Flycatcher - it has a crest on top of it's head and makes it look too big for it's body. They make that loud"Tweeb" sound. I look forward to all of your video's! I have an Audubon App for bird identification - just Google it and play the song of this bird and you will recognize it as that bird. P.S. I've eaten all the bacon by accident lots of times! :)

You could use a log arch trailer for moving whole logs around. I know you generally chainsaw mill everything in place but it'd be indispensable if you ever get a bandsaw mill.

Another great video. It is nice when you say it is going to fall there, it does. What is the worst that can happen if you cut it wrong… I don’t know, go find another crooked trees, you got plenty. I don’t know what that means about me but I liked the bark striping. With your bowlegged gazebo it looked like you were using a very wide angle lens but alas, only crooked trunks. Thanks so much for sharing and try to stay cool and hydrated.

I suppose the worst case is that it tips the wrong way- towards a structure or the four wheeler or you and something gets smashed. Can get scary pretty quickly.

  • @Halfapint01

I gotta ask, What saws are you running? One looks like maybe and 029 (ok 025-029) The other looks newer. None of the saws you run sound like they are ported either. Do yourself a flavor, get that T27 and your dremel, take off your muffler, remove the spark arrestor screen, open the exhaust hole up more but so your spark arrestor still fits. Then drill as many holes as you can through the baffle so you saw can BREATH. If you really want to play with fire (no seriously don't burn down your woods) get a RPM gauge and take off the caps on the carb adjust and tune them to about 1000 rpm of max, never run max RPM or over. it aint worth it! My 029 will run a 28" bar all day long through soft wood.

You could always get free range chickens 🤷, all you do is build a coop with nesting boxes, fence them in for only a few weeks so they know where home is, then open the gate to let them free range. They will automatically go back to their home roosts. There is plenty of natural food out there for chickens too so wouldn't have to feed them extra unless you just wanted to

I have a question what happens if you run out of trees or room to build. I think you need to dig that water hole a little deeper so you can collect more water 💧 for the reserve pool....but just a question and a friendly suggestion buddy.😇 If you decide to make bowls or spoons out of the wood you made your kukza then please let me purchase the first one. Lol seriously 😐

Ya know I kinda wished ya had a p.o. box. Why ya maybe asking so some of us could send ya some thing like a big box of unused penny nails or some boxes of screws. Maybe some other cool stuff. I'm a trucker and I live in my truck for weeks on end but when I do take time off I park my truck at my parents. Witch is where my car is and they live in the country. Quit some time ago we a huge garage. And with the garage kit thing from menards came a big box of penny nails. That we never used. We used a air nailer instead.

I'm the opposit, I do the math all the time on my projects, make 3D models and dream, but building, not so much yet.
But on the other hand, I really, really like doing math and building models.. So maybe we are not so different. Most important thing is that you do what you want to do. Results and money are so overrated. Zen people seem to think so.. We're zen-saints, really.
