Bad News was awesome when he was in Calgary. We would see him cruising around the city in a white Cadillac convertible with a bright red interior along with a crazy looking blonde. So much fun man. We used to watch the Stampede boys in the Victoria pavilion on Friday nights when we were kids and we hated him so much. Thanks for the memories boys.

Allen Coage is a perfect example of someone who might have been hurt by those who put down pro w.restling. He was the FIRST African-American to win an individual olympic medal for the U.S. outside of track & field and boxing. I don't know how many knew that (i read his Wiki today and found that). You have to understand, he didn't like working with Bret & Owen because early on in their careers they were still young & inexperienced & they were Green & very Bratty. They didn't really know how to do business & work a program, they had been raised on the idea that they were just gonna win every match & that everybody was just supposed to bend the knee to them & put them over. Bad News probably would've enjoyed working with them in the prime of their careers a little later on in the WWF, but it's understandable why he didn't like working with them early on in Calgary for the Stampede promotion.

I live in Calgary too and went to the matches during that era and Bruce was over HUGE with the fans. He had an ELECTRIC fued with incredible matches against Dyno. He had a great fued with Sandy Scott and also Dr. D. Bruce was a big star at the time. He was also training and breaking in guys who would go on to be big stars like Billy Jack Haynes, Liger, Pillman, Benoit etc. Nevermind all the great creative booking he did. I personally don't think Bad News had read the book, but he liked Tommy and would take anything he said to be true. He did initially seem to be direct and no-nonsense.
Dynamite was obviously assisted (heavily) in the writing of that book and there were many errors and mis-quotes. Mainly due to his short and vague answers, with his strong Northern accent and dentures (from the Rougeau incident) proving to be an issue. Along with obvious health issues.

Dynamite didn't have a huge reason to lie about a lot of the things in the book and it's mostly Bret who claims a lot of things were untrue. People take all the bad stuff he admits to as gospel but if he says anything less than praise about Bret and his family then he's suddenly a liar. All wrestlers exaggerate stuff but I found his book to be more honest than most I've seen. I don't think Stu getting big money from Japanese promoters to book Dynamite on tours early on is far from the truth nor do I think him insisting they take Bret on tour too was a lie.
Usually when Bret gets butt hurt it's probably the truth and he doesn't like it.
