It's really wild when you think about it. I bought a ps5 for a remaster of my favorite PS3 games ended up playing a bunch of remastered PS4 games and then just a bunch of actual PS4 games and the one 'exclusive' ps5 games I have on my shelf(returnal) is also on pc and my most played game is a PS4 game 'enhanced' for ps5 (Gundam Battle Operation) and they have a nerve to be dripping a 'pro' console lol
Amen to that!! I liked Robocop, but it has become the second PS4 in the house. Astrobot is fun, and it feels like a Kirby, with a playstation twist. To be fair, there aren't enough exclusive fun games to justify the PS5. I'm not looking forward to what it is coming next.
Maybe it's just the opposite. If there was even a single exclusive that I cared about I would have upgraded my PS4 pro long ago, now I will probably wait a couple years for the ps6.
The PS5 might be my least favorite Playstation console. Like you said in the video, not enough AAA games. Recently I've been playing PS2 and PS3 games, and man those generations were amazing.
@@maxsonly Yeah I just play PS2, PS3, PC now. This modern gen doesn't offer much at all, I can play a good majority of Sony's so called Exclysives on steam?
PS2 is peak. When the console came out, it was exciting, not only for the graphical upgrade, but because of the GAMES themselves! The focus was on the games and trying to make them as fun and exciting as possible. That's why it has probably the biggest library of games of any console.
AAA games take nearly a console generation to make so what were you expecting? Get into retro gaming because there is an endless amount of amazing games you could be playing. Also it’s not the worst gaming generation, it’s just the worst console generation because PC has won the console war. PC doesn’t just has the latest games, it has ALL GAMES and they all run much better.
Gaming died for me during Xbox One/PS4 era. Current gen is like a long funeral. Flop after flop after flop. The only games i buy on series x/PS5 are faithful remasters. I bought more new games for my Mega Drive in the last years as i bought for the current flop gen.
One of Sony's big missteps was closing Japan Studio and as a result they lost the ability to make AA games that could fill the down time between AAA releases. The concept of a generation is pretty much over at this point though. Most games don't need super powerful hardware to run and let's face it as you said, the money is in the online multiplayer add-on content. Not even the game itself but all the digital crap. Sony puts out very few, like 1or 2 games per year that are not MLB The Show that actually benefit from the horsepower of the PS5. That is crazy compared to how it used to be.
The issue is with the gaming industry. Corporations have gotten too profit-hungry and less artistic. One can argue that they've always been this way but honestly they really haven't. You can't convince me that Super Mario 64, Resident Evil 1, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Mario Kart 1, Metal Gear Solid, were all made with profit in mind. Those artists had an ambition and these days, their only ambition is making money, and they're too technologically advanced for their own good.
Halo comes to mind for me, too, it was a FPS that was the first to properly pitch using twin sticks for gameplay, Halo 2 roles around and created a definitive Xbox Live experience *within* the game, not just the service itself, so much so that Microsoft referenced Halo 2's online feature set for the Xbox 360, and then came Halo 3, a game that pitched giving players forge (map editor with support of 8 players at once) and theater mode, *for free* When an artist is allowed to cook, they will, especially if that cook stays in the kitchen for each meal prepped. Insert shareholders and corporate demands, and things get needlessly complicated. Guidelines are good, but modern gaming showed us what too far can look like
i agree with that to a point, but it's also because titles are taking like 5 - 8 years to be made, because creative difference, or because they are putting unnecessary things into titles.
I was never a day 1 buyer but I had every PlayStation from 1-4 within the first 6 months and for the first time I just haven't felt the desire to get a PS5 in the last 4 years.. Ever since Sony moved their HQ from Japan to California i've liked them less and less. They've focused on politics and raising the prices as the output and originality went out the window. I'm only speaking for myself here but i'm getting really burnt out with the modern gaming industry yet I can go back and play some random PS1 or PS2 game I was always curious about and suddenly that magic comes back.
That's why I got a mini pc and a couple of those kinhank drives. There's so many old games WE never played. I have as much investment in it all as a ps5 but have countless games and a mini pc that can still run some modern stuff at decent settings.
@@bigduke3394I would have bought a PS5 if i liked the design of the system or the controller design, but it would have not become my main gaming device because i’ve realized PC is far superior in every way. I was a hardcore console gamer from the Sega Master System days till the PS4 Pro and Series X. It ended when i saw the same games i had running on my friend’s high end PC and the difference was so huge i literally couldn’t play those games anymore because i knew what i was missing, and i also realized that the 2500€ and 900€ i had spent on digital PS4 and X One games was all wasted money now because consoles are just a graveyard for games because they so rarely get optimized for the new system. Also games are so much cheaper on PC. I was able to buy a similar game collection for like 500€ that cost me over 3000€ on consoles. Granted they were the older titles but still. PC doesn’t just have the freedom of adjusting graphics sliders to make the game how you want it to look but you can go beyond that by simple adjustments of the game’s game files to double the games native resolution or disable a useless effect that’s making a game slow down and many things that the devs didn’t think you needed, and you can mod games and if you want a better performance than on the PS6 you can already have it today on PC that had the biggest game library. PC has literally won the console was and everyone will realize it soon.
Never have I bought a console and regretted it until I picked up the PS5 on launch. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice improvement to have faster loading times but outside of that? It just didn't feel worth it. The list of exclusives is incredibly low for a system that's reaching 4 years old!
Ive been saying this for years,to get a new console I need games I want to play and at the price of a ps5 it just isnt worth it and it still cant even play uhd 4k blu rays? My xbox one s does that...
I mean, it plays all my 4K blu rays and it does occasionally have a great game like Rachet and clank or Astro… or… Spider-Man 1…. And…. Not 2 sadly 😢 and it does make my ps4 games look better with HDR. Overall I like the ps5. I don’t play a ton of games but Stellar Blade was a joy to play
Its not like during the ps4 its like almost every month I'm looking for new tripple a game to buy. On my ps5 last ps5 game I purchase was GoWR last december played it after 15-20 hour got bored then stopped playing it. Dont really have any interest in every remastered PS game since 90% of them I already played/finished on my ps4.
This is one worst gaming years I can remember, hardly any games the development cycle is insane, miss the days of the ps2/ps3 when their was so many new different type of games
@@TISUAL PS3 really hit it's stride in the middle of its lifecycle. You could still feel the industry moving towards a certain direction but man we got some gems out of that generation.
I agree that PS5 is only good for its exclusives and PS4 games. I still play my PS4 pro and the games don't look any different. The worst part about the upcoming systems is digital, i will not be buying any system with digital gaming. I need the physical. I need the feeling that I own that game , I will not fall for Sony or Microsoft digital scam. Digital movies are already taking this route , once the contract is up they have to remove your movie. I lost 100 movies on Vudu. I will stick with PS2, PS3, and PS4 those systems are amazing. The selection is just amazing.
@@TheJay1976 If you buy any blu ray it comes with a digital code, you can use it for vudu or any app that use it. But can only use it once. If the licenses is up for that movie the movie get removed from the account without notice. So your code is now invalid for any use. I purchase digital codes also and still the movie get deleted without notice. Now our library of digital Blu rays is 800 compared to 1700 now that is more than half of my movies. The Purpose for this is for me to go to a friends house login an watch any movie. Games will take this route and remember if you don't remember any login info for PS account you lose that game.
Sony's priorities have been hijacked for 8 YEARS and 400 MILLION DOLLARS later on an online battle royale clone (Concord), that didn't see past 24 hours, when SONY could have been invested in game developer independent studios, that actually deserve money to make games for the system. The downfall is overbanking on hardware accessories, and DEI video games. Its not a conspiracy! They have ruined their own success for the sake of THE MESSAGE. It is sad when you have a game in "development limbo" LONGER than the debut of the PS5 it was meant to be played on! An utter disaster!
@@badboy-gn8fua gaming pc will let you play those. I'm playing silent hill 2 remake right now and visually it is superior to the ps5 version in every way
As somebody that's grown up during the PS1/N64 generation, it's hurts to see where gaming has gone. No new breakout, genre defining experiences. Half of the good experiences we get now are remakes/remasters. No emphasis on physical media so we end up with games that are either broken, unfinished or delisted down the line.
Only reason I keep mine is because its a decent 4K Blu-ray player and PS4 Pro. It lets my sister play the games she wants, which are all on PS4, while I also get to play what I want.
Today, i pre-order my first ps5, and it's a PS5 Pro. I think the console generation needs more years to even release another console. At least 10 years imo
Oof,that hurts dude. Buying in and thinking the ps5 is really going anywhere....and 700 bucks...might as well just get a nice pc that is going to always have new games coming out on steam.
Nope even sony said we are now at the half of the ps5 life. Maybe 3 years more then ps6 will be release it will be a machine that will remaster native ps5 games to ps6, rachet & clank rift apart remastered for the ps6 mark my word.
Yep. I've owned every PS console. Currently still sitting on the PS4 Pro.. With all the PSVR1 games I own and discovering the PS5 does nothing to enhance any of their gameplay I've not needed to move to the PS5.. Which is really sad because part of me wants to be like I've been with every PS console and buy it new at launch. But another part of me says it's a waste of money. I always thought "when the PS5 Pro comes out I'll definitely be jumping on the 5 band wagon". Nope.. The PS4 Pro plays 4k movies to a 4k TV. It plays all my PSVR1 library of games just like a PS5 would.. Sadly I see no reason. There a tons more PSVR1 games than PSVR2.
I go back and forth with the PS5. I feel like it is underwhelming but then I look at the experiences I’ve had and it’s some of my best gaming moments all time RE4R, RE village psvr2, Madison psvr2, death stranding, ncaaf 25, Astro bot, SH2, returnal, and upcoming MGS delta. Then I look at my list and realize half of them are ps4 games. Luckily I didn’t own a ps4 so I’m reaping some of those benefits.
If the PS5 is basically a PS4 Pro 2.0, playing all the PS4 games perfectly, then why on earth would Sony try and sell us a PS5 Pro for $700? It is actually insane.
This might be the proof that gameplay and stories rule over better graphics. I still have tons of fun playing snes carts on a real snes with friends. I'm not interested in any xbox or ps5.
At this rate playstation has kinda lost its identity because of the lack of variety in the games, seeing just triple a is getting boring and im pretty sick of seeing remasters of ps4 games.
Its weird when i see someones current collection. I just dont see hardly any games that jump out at me that i would want to collect. I feel like that facination stopped for me on the 360/ps3. I collect switch games but ps and xbox can just play on pc and gamepass.
i’d say get it if you skipped the ps4 like i did. plus, the ps5 will prob become the standard once companies move on to more demanding games. with the right titles too, you could see ~15 years worth of gaming on one device. hell, i still play my ps2 and that thing is ancient
I think cross gen is going to be a thing from now because games are too expensive to release only on a new gen. I personally care more about the gaming experience than it being only on this systems. Also blame Jim Ryan for killing all the smaller studios
I played the Quest 3 for the first time Monday and it's clear that the entire industry wants to have a Steam business model. No physical, all DLC, and high prices.
It's certainly heading in that direction, as long as PS/Xbox have a physical disc drive i'll always buy that version, (for as long as i can), even though I've been 60% digital 40% physical since lockdown, having a disc drive always gives an option over all digital.
Devs have been focusing on all the wrong things this generation. I have zero hope for the next generation, besides Nintendo. Luckily theres a huge catalog of older games that will keep me entertained for decades
It is bad because Sony have basically backtracked on exclusive content and physical media. So it is largely a redundant console. I bought a PS5 and only have 6 games primarily because of what I just said. Sony is quickly losing me as a customer after 5 generations. I'm not paying $70 for games or a future console that is locked to 1 digital store and having to pay a subscription fee on top of that. They are killing themselves.
It's not the PS5s fault. Gaming has been nothing but remakes and remastered or games with a number 2 because developers are running out of ideas. I'm glad I have a Switch and PC to play games on. Nintendo won this round for sure
I don't think it's running out of ideas mainly, I think it's playing it safe and being less risky. Budgets are inflated beyond measure and they are incredibly terrified to take risks in the Triple A space which is why I look at indies more. There's an awesome JRPG indie game called Chained Echoes that's like SNES/PS1 era sprite RPG's and man I don't know how I missed it but it's SO good and better than a lot of Triple A games lately.
I'm a Playstation guy. I usually buy PS fairly early, and then pick up an Xbox at end of life cycle for exclusives. This generation I bought a Series X earlier than usual for Starfield, and for the first time I find myself liking my Xbox more than PS (5).
It's not that games are not ready but this is the first generation where console is in line with PC with games being able to release for generations of graphics cards. A ton of these games can scale down to PS4 so why not put them on that system. As far as smaller games or Indie games, why would you not put them out on both systems when the architecture allows it. There are plenty of games that you cannot play on last gen but you just do not gravitate towards these games. Dogma 2, Stellar blade, rise of the ronin, Reternal, alone in the dark, astrobot, demon souls, helldivers, and I can name many more but you get the point that there are exclusives to this generation. You like smaller games and there's no way you don't put those smaller games on both Generations.
I love my PS5 and game on it as much as I do with my Switch and PC. I really do feel that the pandemic greatly impacted the pipeline of production for major AAA titles and elongated the time it took for newer titles to drop. It’s also not limited to video games: film, music, and television felt the impact of it too. Things have improved and I think some will look back and not be as critical. It wasn’t too long ago when people were hypercritical of the PS3 and I owned a 60gb since launch. Just play the many games you have and have fun.
Developers have realized that releasing a game with the largest console install base will yield the highest profit. If a game can be run on a PS4, especially with over a decade of development experience, it just makes fiscal sense.
4 years is an insane amount of time....by that time, 4 years into the PS1 in the year 2000, it already had countless games. The PS2 after 4 years was 2004 which had TONS of amazing games. The PS3 came out 2006 and after 4 years had A LOT of great games by 2010. The PS5 is pretty much a faster beefier PS4 with barely any AAA games.
PS4 is currently the best system for exclusive gaming and collecting, right above the Nintendo Switch, PS2 and Gamecube. And you can play all your PS4 games in the PS5 consoles.
Same here dude,I'm done after ps4 and xbox one. The new consoles just feel like the life is stripped out of them...nothing cool to play really....just copy paste bullshit and remakes of games I already own.
I don’t understand why people are buying a PS5 just buy a PS4 pro and you’re good to go also the PS5 look like a flower vase 😂 The only thing I’m a little bit sad about is silent hill 2 and I’m probably gonna buy it in physical and then rent a PS5 Somewhere maybe blockbuster 😅 Nice video once again keep it up🤘😎
I finally got around to buying a PS5 about a week ago. What have I used it for so far? PS4 games that originally had long load times. I've yet to play a true PS5 game.
Advantages of buying the PS4 version of a game instead of PS5: - Can play with any DS4 I have - Can copy my save files on usb for preservation or to get it on my PS4 and vice versa - Can play them on my PS4 in the other room - Other little things like being able to see the patch notes My PS5 is almost just a PS4 but less noisy and I'll always buy the superior PS4 version of a game if I can. Too bad it starts telling me my PS4 discs are unreadable. They are clean, even brand new games are supposedly unreadable. I'm disappointed as well.
We are in the remake/remaster generation. I do not regret buying the PS5 but the truth is that if you are on the fence, just hold tight. With games taking longer and longer to be released, we may only see one new game of a series per generation.
It really doesn’t bother me if there are compromised ps4 versions of games I play on ps5. I think it’s good for people who don’t want to upgrade yet. I guess a lot of people just miss having games only on one system, just don’t let it affect your enjoyment.
The gaming industry is stagnating. There are no big changes like in the past, going from 8 bit to 16 bit, 2d to 3d, 3d to hd. Those things made buying a new console worth it, I think that is why retro games are getting popular, if the games and consoles in the future aren't interesting, people will look to what's in the past. The difference between last gen and current gen are almost nonexistent compared to generations in the past.
Give us a game that makes us feel like our purchase was worth it. How bout a new Twisted metal, castlevania, Gran Turismo, some of the gold standards. I want halo I play Xbox, I want mario I play switch, PlayStation nothing…. It’s disappointing…..
Oh man,I'd love to see a new Twisted Metal,or even if they brought back Vigilante 8. I might buy a ps5 for a Twisted Metal with destructable enviroments and stuff. 😂
reggie the title of this video gave me a stroke lol. I understand completely though. I think we look back on this generation in a decade and wonder what the hell was going on.
Dualsense is a game changer, and gt7 in vr is something I'll never forget, possibly my best gaming experience to date so for me ps5 is an under appreciated machine
Its a weird generation. Its crazy that we're even talking about ps4 sales this far into current gen life. And then theyre going to ask for ps5pro upgrade hahaha. I still find many games i love to play but its mostly indie games these days if I'm being honest which doesnt even require amazing hardware. I do have a ps5 but i kind of regret the purchase.
@@badboy-gn8fu I need to get that. I only played SH 2 very briefly when it was new all those years ago, so I am basically going into this with fresh eyes.
Same here two days ago, i did see one Series X/one S but there was 3 OG PS5s/1 slim, not sure if people are selling to get the Pro or bringing them back because there's not enough games over PS4, probably somewhere in the middle.
@@Mark-mu4pjYeah it's either people are trading it in because Sony is just lacking creative small exclusives and the PS5 is just a glorified 3rd party machine or people are really trading in their PS5 for more Pathetic sharper visuals of the Bush in the background of the pro.
@@Electro096it's gonna do alot more than that. But your just a typical console gamer oblivious to things such as resolution and frame rate. Anyone who games on pc knows how much those things matter
Just picked up a PS4 Pro and threw in a 2 TB SSD - I'm simply blown away at the quality of the must-play games, and then the pricing! The games are only $10-$25 for physical! (Which is the route I went). And if you are ok with digital, the must-play games are as cheap as $5-$10!
Not to mention, they had advertised the system as being very powerful, which made me hopeful that it will be able to offer 60 fps experience without compromising on quality, mentioning stuff like "8K" etc, which didn't turn out to be true at all. Now they're advertising the Ps5 pro as the definite system to be able to play games on quality preset while having a 60 fps framerats.
The playsation is a proprietary PC. It gets upgrades every so often but with the same library and a few new titles that take half a decade to make. It's like having a PC where you upgrade it every four years and get slightly better graphics on older games. The problem with playstation is you must buy the new system for the newer games unlike PC. If I had tons of money I'd get it for exclusives but those are very few and I could live without. It's sad I started out with the playstation 1. It's just not sustainable in my opinion i'm not sure about the future for them.
100% agree, it's not a fun generation because all we have from four years is remakes and remasters. New AAA games are very rare these. Indies have been putting out a lot of stuff though.
Been around since gen 3 and it's easily the least exciting generation I've ever seen, it's not even close. Loving the opportunity to make a dent in my seemingly endless backlog though so I won't be losing any sleep over it.
Ive been playing games since NES and this is the worst Ive seen yet, luckily Ive collected enough games to last me the rest of my life and I can kinda just start ignoring new stuff coming out.
Games haven't evolved since the 360/ps3 era (arguably since the ps2/og xbox era). A new console gen is essentially like upgrading the graphics card on a PC. This doesn't really apply to nintendo though.
I think part of the problem is since the ps4, consoles have been so much closer to pc architecture, so it's a lot easier to scale the games up or down like a pc, back in the day you would have to make a completely different version of a game depending on the platform, now you can just adjust the frame rate, graphics settings etc depending on the platform.
I never bought a PS5. Never regreted not getting one. I play on PC now. Decided to only keep my PS3 and 3DS for those older games I grew up playing. But for me, it's PC from now on. Consoles have no value to me now.
A lot of people say this, but I never agree. I've been having a blast with it since day 1, with Sony made games and everything else. Just had Astro Bot last month and Silent Hill 2 this week, and crazy good games all year long.
This system was definitely not worth the money it was sold for. The library of exclusives is slim pickings. It’s a shame too, I was excited when I got it.
We’re at the point of diminishing returns for gaming consoles. They need to focus on quality games now and not bread crumb the gaming community with unnoticeable bumps in graphics/fps. We need games!!
You can tell from the reveal alone that the PS5 generation was underwhelming and uninspired. - Less AAA games releases (PS5 games are just PS4 games but shinier and barely handles ray tracing) -game cases are just PS4 cases with PS5 slip covers - uneccesary remakes/remasters - exclusives getting ported to PC -collectors edition released with no physical games included. - poor quality hardware with a premium price tag.
You're completely right about what's holding this generation back, and yet they're choosing to release a PS5 Pro. How about making full use of the current technology before we're moving on to the next? The game developers aren't keeping up with the consoles. I predict the PS5 Pro might be the most needless upgrade we've seen yet.
I'm just playing mostly indie and third party titles on the PS5 currently: Dragon's Dogma 2, Stellar Blade, Indika, RoboCop Rogue City, Alone in the Dark, Hogwarts Legacy, A Plague's Tale Requiem, Rise of the Ronin etc. I still haven't open my copy of FF7 Rebirth. Heard it's a big game and you need lots of time investment in it lol. And yeah it's unnecessary to buy a PS5 at the moment due to the lack of exclusives.
PS5 is a great system,, but tbh, i find myself reaching for my Nintendo Switch most of the time. I feel that Sony lost its self. Ever since the PS3/PSP era, Sony just got greedy and forgot about creating an environment for gaming through bthe perspective of gamers. I cant stop repeating it, but they need to revisit that PS3/PSP era. For single player and online multiplayer gaming, they can start by dropping bthe PSN online fee and creating an actual handheld gaming system.
An actual Sony handheld would mean even less games on the PS5 because they would have to divide their resources. That is, unless the game library is the same as its console counterpart.
@@brentgoncalves8612 That's not how that works. They transitioned to a SAAS model just to increase their revenues. Making it a paid service does not protect PSN against DDOS attacks. It simply doesn't go down anymore due to Sony's security investments.
@@brentgoncalves8612 The only reason they started charging was because stupid Xbox started the trend of charging for online. Now, Nintendo charges on the Switch too. And of course Sony. If that were the case, then why doesn't PC charge for online? Charging for peer to peer multiplayer is so scammer, it's crazy. It's all about money, that's it. Nothing else. They charge because people will pay it. Period. And that's why I only play f2p games on consoles and for games like Battlefield etc etc on PC. The online experience on PC is way better than console. It's not even worth paying for console online.
I will say, in the next couple years, it’s going to get a little better. There’s a shit ton of new games coming our way and I don’t think a lot of you are aware of this as I follow gaming news religiously on a daily basis.
As a video game collector for over 45 years I blame the all-digital agenda! The feeling of the hobby was more authentic with physical media!! #TeamPhysical
We bought a PS5 when they first launched (I was at a local store and they had some in stock)... still waiting for a game to justify it's purchase. it just sits there. I was excited for the FF rebirth but then when they made it multiple parts I didn't want to buy it and wait years to finish the story. Why would developers spend the money to make a game for the PS5 when people are obviously happy with the graphics of Fortnite, or pixel art indy games?
I think it’s very interesting that so many of us begged Sony to make ps5 backwards compatibility and now that it is, we say that there’s no reason to buy PS5 because everything can be played on PS4. I try to consider perspectives from both consumer side and business side and its lot more complex than we care to admit.
They've been releasing cross-generation games for awhile now, can't blame B/C for why nobody has anything to play on a PS5, Sony just hasn't done the work. Also PS5's B/C feature is very lackluster compared to the Xbox, get some PS1-3 games running in an emulator for god's sake.
@@drencrum I disagree that we have nothing to play on PS5. In the beginning yes but now plenty of great titles. I just don’t understand the vitriol. We have so many options for gaming but I just hear constant complaints. It could just be me because I’m more of a casual gamer who can only play like once a week. so maybe I just don’t see things from the gamers who play more frequently perspective and understand things more clearly than I do. Anywho, I respect your opinion.
Sold my PS5 and got a Vita instead. Initially thought I’d gone mad tbh but I’ve no regrets. It’s ridiculous that I’ve played more games on Sony’s biggest failure (commercially) in just a few months than I did after 3 years of owning a PS5.
i waited 4 years to finally get one but when i look at my library, majority of my games are PS4 port overs. i have only about 10-15 new PS5 based titles out of almost 100. it doesn’t feel like “next-gen” this time around
What really is sad is the PS5 fanboys who will defend the console to the death, stating that it is an amazing console, and the best that Sony has ever released, completely ignoring that the library is so poor compared to the PS3 and PS4 before it.
I agree 100%.. I mean Returnal is a masterpiece and for who did not play Demon's Souls already obviously the remake is incredible... stellar blade also good... but most good games that are exclusive to ps5 (rise of the ronin?) could run on ps4 no problem let's be honest it was just a commercial decision. What really makes me play ps5 is the psPortal, that was a little device that surprised me and that gave my ps5 a real use! Playing Diablo 4 on portal (apart from the impossibility of opening the map) is just great!
ps. I just got the ltd edition of Re Fantazio from Japan for ps4... Shin Megami 5 etc are all ps4 physicals in Japan which proves that the fact that these games are released as as ps5 only physical games in the west is purely a commercial decision
In my opinion, it's not just the lack of exclusive games that's to blame. If you want to drastically increase sales, you need an equally tempting price, and Sony is far from that in this generation. I bought the Playstation 4 including Spiderman for exactly €222, which was a very good price. Sony sees European customers in particular as premium customers who are happy to pay a little more than US customers. They can think that, let's see how long it works. For me, an offer has to be in the €300 range before I would even think about getting a PS5.
If people keep buying the same game every year with a re-skin, there will be very little innovation in the AAA scene, we need to stop buying anything but the very best and send a real message to AAA publishers
@@dfilm oh I’m sorry, I looked back at it and thought it was somewhere around like 83 million or something but then saw it was actually 62 million. However that’s still a big number for a 4 year old system
This current generation is very different from console generations before. Because of the similarities in archictecture and scalability, porting games to both PS4 and PS5 is so much more easy than back in the PS3 to Ps4 erra. The benefits for us as consumers is backwards compatibility and giving more options to enjoy the games on cross platforms. Also for people that don't have the finances to buy a new console or a just not willing to, are still giving the option to enjoy new releases. The drawback is that new generation consoles feel a lot less special and exclusive. P.s Astrobot really deserves to be purchased, not only because of quality, but also because of Team Asobi and there history with Japan studio and love for Playstation games in general. Team Asobi is a very small team and to make a game so good in 3 years needs to be fully supported. When Japan Studio got closed Playstation lost a lot of its's own DNA and we as players lost a lot of unique games. Yeah the game got high reviews from critics, but at the end of the day Sony is looking at sales.
As more of a casual gamer nowadays due to family life and work, I feel the ps5 is sufficient enough for our needs here at home. My wife and I love survival horror and the new SH2 remake is amazing. Yes this gen is remake crazy and I agree that the PS5 is more like a PS4 emulator that upscales older titles lol. Gone are the days of banger exclusives for Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo still does it the best.
I have accepted that my PS5 is mostly a PS4 Pro 2.0
Lol pretty much. For Dragonball fans an analogy I'd use is it's like Super Saiyan Grade 2.
I'm still playing my PS4 pro and loving it. Saved all that money I had for a PS5 and bought a bunch of PS4 games instead.
I didn't even get a ps5 until my PS4 stopped copying discs
Amen to that!! I liked Robocop, but it has become the second PS4 in the house. Astrobot is fun, and it feels like a Kirby, with a playstation twist. To be fair, there aren't enough exclusive fun games to justify the PS5. I'm not looking forward to what it is coming next.
If the PS5 wouldn't have been backwards compatible, it would have been an unmitigated DISASTER
I just finished Ico on ps3 and Rayman 2 Revolution on ps2 this week.
Naw man you’re just mad cause you can’t afford a ps5

Worst gaming generation yet. Horrible
Not really because the Switch is technically part of this gen.

Get into retro gaming because there is an endless amount of amazing games you could be playing.

You're an idiot
Gaming died for me during Xbox One/PS4 era. Current gen is like a long funeral. Flop after flop after flop. The only games i buy on series x/PS5 are faithful remasters.
I bought more new games for my Mega Drive in the last years as i bought for the current flop gen.
The PS5 games are terrible, I went through all the games today and there wasn’t one that I found interesting.
Halo comes to mind for me, too, it was a FPS that was the first to properly pitch using twin sticks for gameplay, Halo 2 roles around and created a definitive Xbox Live experience *within* the game, not just the service itself, so much so that Microsoft referenced Halo 2's online feature set for the Xbox 360, and then came Halo 3, a game that pitched giving players forge (map editor with support of 8 players at once) and theater mode, *for free*
When an artist is allowed to cook, they will, especially if that cook stays in the kitchen for each meal prepped.
Same here had 1-4 PlayStations and decided to stick with my series s and pass on the ps5
I play my PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 4 more than the PlayStation 5 honestly.
Right! I think I am just not into gaming as much as I used to be. Then I play something new on my PS2 or PS3 and bam I am right back in it.
Never have I bought a console and regretted it until I picked up the PS5 on launch. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice improvement to have faster loading times but outside of that? It just didn't feel worth it. The list of exclusives is incredibly low for a system that's reaching 4 years old!
Yup
itll be great when the ps6 comes out!

The worst part about the upcoming systems is digital, i will not be buying any system with digital gaming. I need the physical. I need the feeling that I own that game , I will not fall for Sony or Microsoft digital scam. Digital movies are already taking this route , once the contract is up they have to remove your movie.
At least Nintendo got that fire ass alarm clock coming out 😂😂😂
I laughed way too hard at that.
Nintendo >>>>> ps5 concord

Today, i pre-order my first ps5, and it's a PS5 Pro. I think the console generation needs more years to even release another console. At least 10 years imo
Oof,that hurts dude. Buying in and thinking the ps5 is really going anywhere....and 700 bucks...might as well just get a nice pc that is going to always have new games coming out on steam.
they are going to releae PS6 next yr with PS5 games
@@badboy-gn8fu right? Next gen we will see good ps5 games, but then you buy a ps6 so they have good load times. Ahahaha

I miss ps1/2/3 era. I haven't brought a ps5 yet.
Marvels Spider-Man 2, Astro Bot and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart are the 3 1st Party Exclusives Games I would want to get a PS5
If the PS5 is basically a PS4 Pro 2.0, playing all the PS4 games perfectly, then why on earth would Sony try and sell us a PS5 Pro for $700? It is actually insane.
I don't even have a PS5 yet. I hate seeing more and more physical editions not being put out on PS4 despite there being digital versions.
Since PS1, the PS5 is the only PS console I haven’t purchased and will not purchase. Prefer playing on the Switch.
The ps5 is honestly kinda junk, doesnt have nothing unique to play...
i’d say get it if you skipped the ps4 like i did. plus, the ps5 will prob become the standard once companies move on to more demanding games. with the right titles too, you could see ~15 years worth of gaming on one device. hell, i still play my ps2 and that thing is ancient
@@jay_344 I didnt skip the ps4,I bought a used pro for 200 bucks. Best gaming purchase Ive made in a long time.
🤓
Devs have been focusing on all the wrong things this generation. I have zero hope for the next generation, besides Nintendo. Luckily theres a huge catalog of older games that will keep me entertained for decades
It is bad because Sony have basically backtracked on exclusive content and physical media. So it is largely a redundant console. I bought a PS5 and only have 6 games primarily because of what I just said. Sony is quickly losing me as a customer after 5 generations. I'm not paying $70 for games or a future console that is locked to 1 digital store and having to pay a subscription fee on top of that. They are killing themselves.
I still haven’t purchased one yet, I might wait until GTA 6 to make the purchase, I’ve started collecting for the PS3 very heavy this year.
i just bought one couple days ago just to play Silent Hill 2 remake
I also miss the novel peripherals and the games that required them. DDR and the dance mat, guncon games for the PS1. Those were just pure fun.
I sold my PS five 2 1/2 years ago and bought a steam deck
That was a great decision
I'm considering getting a Steam Deck for the holidays.
I should do the same as well…screw this gen. I mean come on! The previous to generations at least had direction.
@kyles3335 Not really, now he can't play Astro Bot and Stellar Blade.
High T
You have an awesome PS5 Collection, Reggie, and keep these videos coming! 👍🎮
got a PS4 PRO with SSD drive , works perfectly , lots of great games at cheap prices
Yeah 4 years in is usually when console generations peak yet it feels like this console generation is still in year 1.

I finally got around to buying a PS5 about a week ago. What have I used it for so far? PS4 games that originally had long load times. I've yet to play a true PS5 game.
Advantages of buying the PS4 version of a game instead of PS5:
- Can play with any DS4 I have
- Can copy my save files on usb for preservation or to get it on my PS4 and vice versa
- Can play them on my PS4 in the other room
- Other little things like being able to see the patch notes
My PS5 is almost just a PS4 but less noisy and I'll always buy the superior PS4 version of a game if I can.

Games haven't evolved since the 360/ps3 era (arguably since the ps2/og xbox era). A new console gen is essentially like upgrading the graphics card on a PC. This doesn't really apply to nintendo though.
Yeah,essentially.
Yea that was the last generation that actually felt like a significant leap in terms of gameplay innovation and graphical power.
Is so hard for me to get ps5 games, sony needs to pickup quickly
They won't it's getting close to announce a ps6 in a year or 2 so they are going to slow it down even more
I think part of the problem is since the ps4, consoles have been so much closer to pc architecture, so it's a lot easier to scale the games up or down like a pc, back in the day you would have to make a completely different version of a game depending on the platform, now you can just adjust the frame rate, graphics settings etc depending on the platform.
Sony needs a real handheld

- Less AAA games releases (PS5 games are just PS4 games but shinier and barely handles ray tracing)
-game cases are just PS4 cases with PS5 slip covers
- uneccesary remakes/remasters
- exclusives getting ported to PC
-collectors edition released with no physical games included.
I see we updated that thumbnail. 😂
We?
And why’d you like your own comment?
@@The_RadicalOne I didn’t? And yeah “We.” As in the community, bro. lol
Bro do you remember why they made it a paid service, it was getting DDOS attacked every few months they HAD to make it paid
Hyped for the new Nintendo
As a video game collector for over 45 years I blame the all-digital agenda! The feeling of the hobby was more authentic with physical media!! #TeamPhysical
We bought a PS5 when they first launched (I was at a local store and they had some in stock)... still waiting for a game to justify it's purchase. it just sits there.
I was excited for the FF rebirth but then when they made it multiple parts I didn't want to buy it and wait years to finish the story.
Why would developers spend the money to make a game for the PS5 when people are obviously happy with the graphics of Fortnite, or pixel art indy games?
The 9th console generation has been the greatest marketing campaign for PC gaming in history.
One thing I much prefer about the PS5 compared to the PS4 is the improvement on taking screenshots without leaving the game completely.
Nothing has excited me much since the PS3 era. The PS4 Pro basically collected dust and the PS5 is the first Playstation I havent bought
You're not wrong!
“Worst console generation”
So tell me how a system that’s sold nearly 90 million units is the worst.
I think your number is way too high from actual sales numbers if you mean PS5.
P.s
Astrobot really deserves to be purchased, not only because of quality, but also because of Team Asobi and there history with Japan studio and love for Playstation games in general.
I sold my PS5 because theres absolutely no reason to own it. All the games on it are either on PS4 or PC. I just went back to using my PS4 pro.
