I love the Taiwan HSR Business Class, it's the only way I travel from Taipei to Taichung when visiting Taiwan. So cheap compared to any trains in the UK. Cool video. Great reminder of another reason why Taiwan is awesome.
Having lived in both countries I'll take the HSR any day, solely based on price. I lived in Japan when the yen was a lot stronger and it was easily 5x the price for a similar length journey when converted to GBP
Japan has multiple different Shinkansen, some that are more like the hsr and some that are way newer and faster. HSR despite being built by the Japanese, it runs on a European rail system and has a closed operator window, where as the Japanes has a open operator window so the operator can peak out to make sure they dont have people stuck on the doors and run on a Japanese rail system.
Taiwan's train system was developed during the Japanese era, and since Taiwan is relatively small, if you are in Japan, you should try the sleep train, 😅You can ride it all the way from Hokkaido to Tokyoin the midnight, and the train has food in a restaurant, and even take a shower. It's quite a nice experience.
TBF, taiwan HSR business class is more comparable to shinkansen green car, which is a class above the regular seats. Gran Class, which Prozzie is riding is only available on some trains (central/north Japan) and priced a lot higher. The Gran Class tickets do have tiers as well if you want food service.
One major difference, not in hardware, but in operations: The Taiwanese might have taken a look at the 2005 Amagasaki Derailment, or maybe not, either way, they chose to have their Drivers trained by DB rather than JR for the Shinkansen HSR-Operations. Sometimes you might even have a german driver operating the train, still.
I remember seeing a model of the proposed Melbourne-Sydney VFT (Very Fast Train) at Expo '88 in Brisbane. And have newspaper articles on it from 1985. Speeds were to be 350km/h. Almost 40 years later, we're still waiting. 🤔
@emdB67 yep, I remember that as well. I believe it was scrapped because the construction time was 10-20+ years and would cost way too much financial investment from the government about 80%.
The Japanese like to bring bento boxes to eat, but I've seen service in the GranClass in other videos. Gweilo 60 likes to bring a six-pack of tall beers on the Mainland high-speed trains.
😂 2:50 red Quinoa (you have to prononce it « kinoa », starchy seeds from the Andes in South American) mille feuille (French cake made with layers of flaky pastry and custard type cream and on top a chocolate and vanilla thin fluid frosting). Now in gastronomy or cooking industry, anything with layers is called « mille feuille ».

Noice
The biggest difference might be the Taiwanese Drivers being trained by DB rather than JR.
Loving the pronunciation of quinoa
What about "shinkenshen" 😂
ha ha ... yeah it's keen-wah
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just a note. Taiwan is getting new train sets and they’re scheduled to start service in 2026.
@ parthian945 It’s good to know. It’s way overdue.
This, arguably Prozzie took what would be "First Class", if we went by the airline cabin classification. Business class would be the Green Cars.
Gran Class
2:21 😂😂😂
haha I was surprised the PA system came on the same time I pressed the button
How much was it to park your scooter? 🛵
A bunch

They have some really cool train interior designs on their local executive lines
Japan is the best train
BUSINESS class. That TH-cam money must be rolling in!
Kidding.

Thoroughly enjoyable video my friend! The Taiwanese HSR wins it for me! Snacks and a coffee is great service!
What's the cost difference?
a bunch
Great question
@@Prozzie Great answer! 👍

@@鄭海宇 i have always wanted to try this!
Wonderful video! Great information and I look forward to my retirement in Taiwan. You are doing a great job with content!
Absolutely loved it thank you.
Taiwan THSR is SWEEEEEET!!!! Even the regular economy cars are great and also have snacks and coffee - you just have to pay separately.
Canadas high speed trains are better, just kidding we don't have those in Canada 😅
😂😂😂
Prozzie 🤣

Prozzie needs a Taiwanese and Japanese rimmer on the trains.
Nice experience!
I can't wait for Australia to get high-speed trains. 8 - 10hrs in a car just to get to the capital city of Queensland sucks
I remember seeing a model of the proposed Melbourne-Sydney VFT (Very Fast Train) at Expo '88 in Brisbane. And have newspaper articles on it from 1985. Speeds were to be 350km/h. Almost 40 years later, we're still waiting. 🤔

Taiwanese one.. the people are more chill and so nice
Taiwan!! 🇹🇼

To taoyuan!? The best city in Taiwan! You know it's true
Same company made Shinkansen &HSR , must be same
I don’t think the Taiwanese bullet train has Brad Pitt, Bad Bunny or any ensuing mayhem like the Japanese Bullet Train does…
Hey, you don't always fly economy, I saw you at Taoyuan Airport once and you were in the business class line! Nice video though!
Yea that wasn't me. I haven't flown business class in my life

Quinoa is commonly pronounced as "KEEN-wah".
Chih-know-ah
😎❤️🇹🇼‼️
👍❤ very nice video good job prozzie
😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉❤
I hate Taiwan high speed rail beusce the trains are the worst
There is no comparison Taiwan is like a 4th world country when compared
?????
