- Moen After Dark: Are Florida State, Clemson and UNC working with ESPN?
@JoshPateCFBrumblings of changes rapidly approaching the #ACC in #conferencerealignment could #floridastate #clemson and #unc potentially be working with ESPN to spring themselves? We will talk all about it and put some scenarios out there to discuss.
Once again, our good friend and CFB realignment OG Greg Flugar from @cfbpeekaroundthecornerwgre4877 joins us to weigh in and see how all these stories come together- or not! - กีฬา
OK mafia fam, from all the territories! What do YOU think is going on when it comes to Josh Pate's take and how does that jive with what the man from Minnesota Greg Flugar and our own Moen have to say? Are they all three threads from the same cloth?
Generally where’s there is smoke……. I definitely think that events are going on in the background and much of the legal action is nothing more than kabuki theater. Or as Faulkner put it “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”. All of this is going to be decided in lavishly-paneled offices on the 25th floor of an office tower in some major city. And then announced with great fanfare.
As an FSU alum, I am hopeful for the desired outcome but was quite dismayed at Greg’s reporting that UNC and ND are the top targets of the B1G. It would be the ultimate slap for FSU/CU to take all of that risk and expense to open the gate only to have someone else, who took no risk nor spent a cent, be the beneficiary. Guess we will find out soon enough.
Speaking of territories, I am located on the sunny Silver Coast of Portugal. People follow your show all over the globe. You are becoming world famous.
I like to consider multiple possibilities when it comes to realignment. I might be wrong, but to be stuck on possibility doesn't seem logical
Always enjoy your show and have found it to be very entertaining and informative. With that said, I want to clear up a general misconception regarding Florida State and PE. Last year, they approached JP Morgan inquiring about PE. Morgan then recommended two firms to them. FSU and one of the firms didn’t jell but the university proceeded to engage in talks with the other one, Sixth Street, who was asked to submit a proposal. FSU received the proposal and it was widely reported, with some redactions. And that was it. Nothing further. My guess is that the university wanted to understand what PE was, how it operated, the cost/benefit ratio and obligations. Since that proposal was received, there does not seem to be any further discussion with Sixth Street. I do not believe that the university has any plans to enter into any further discussions or seek funding through PE. Just my guess.
Now, if there’s any substance to Pate’s report, it is not inconceivable that the cost for FSU to exit the conference might actually be, not $300m or so, but maybe $120m if ESPN is not going to renew and the GoR ends in 2027. That can easily be sourced internally by FSU.
Thanks for giving us that take, I think we are all just looking at current versions of multiple reports over many months, story evolves and its water cooler based with some facts interspersed
Take time to Remember Chris Petry “Gold & Blue Dude” who loved his WVA Mountaineers supported the Big 12, but whose enthusiasm and excitement really showed thru on his you tube channel. I was hooked the first time I saw Chris.
Praying for you and your Family Chris! Rest-in-Peace.
LOL IOWA'S version of the RPO is the RUN, PUNT OPTION at least there adding the RUN to their offensive play book! When you fire your own son for a new offense coordinator you have down graded!!! It's not an OC problem it's a head coach problem!!!
ESPN is not going to end the ACC. Too much investment in ACC Network and it makes money for them. I also wouldn't be so sure FSU and Clemson have a landing spot in SEC or BIG. Who would leave the ACC for Big 12. Big downgrade.
If Norte Dame is irrelevant because of their lack of championships why is the BIG10 dying to get them in there conference??? Why does Norte Dame bother people let them be Norte Dame and if it fails them talk about it then!!! Norte Dame is unique nothing is going to change that jealousy ruins all and Norte Dame isn't anything to be jealous of let them die on their own???
Three Kings on a saturday night, trying to jigsaw puzzle three different takes into one common thread, from pate to great to moen.!
Poor Greg, he seems totally bummed out. Despite his protestations, he truly is a B10 guy. The idea of the SEC getting FSU, Clemson, UNC, and UVA is depressing to him.
Unc could not already be working privately with Clemson and FSU and ESPN as far as Acc realignment, without unc bot haven’t gone puclic and gotten permission from unc systen B o G. Wild Ute disdain for this not withstanding, Make No Mistake about this Authority! Furthermore, it’s more than just ESPN $ at play.. nc governs tourism budgeting , private equity etc,
The BOG doesn't have to okay every decision. UNC could be doing things designed to lead to some bigger decision that must be approved by the BOG.
Regardless...., I doubt any ACC member is really working with FSU. It's on its own.
There have been reports for months that UNC and Clemson were working together. The BOG has only stipulated that any conference move would have to be approved.
@@jansonroberts2616 I said that UNC and CLEMSON appeared to be allied a long time ago. You also included FSU.
@@tarheel7406 I didn’t include FSU. That would be the original poster above.
wow, everything is IF ESPN DOES NOT RENEW. That is not a slam dunk. It is probably not the greater odds. Heck some even think this is no more of a "look in" than is in the CFP Contract and others that the "look in" is tied to the ACC Network and not the other aspects of the contract.
there are multiple look in things- CFP is one, ACC contract with ESPN (whether you call it an opt out or a look in) is a second
@@B12Mafia A unilateral renewal and a "look in" are different things.
ESPN doesn’t want ND to go to B1G. Then CBS and NBC have full access to them.
NBC already has the deal with ND.
Notre Dame is free to join the big 10 in football already . That's what truly matters to the big 10 they'd wait for the rest of their sports programs
@@woodybortner5583 The contract they have with the ACC says that if they join a conference in football, it has to be the ACC but other than that, sure.
@@jansonroberts2616 that’s why I said “full” access.
@@jansonroberts2616 and since ND football schedules with ACC schools, ESPN does get some benefits.
Catching the show after the Kenny Chesney Concert
we offer the best value for your dollar even for an evil badger. what do you think?
@B12Mafia you guys are entertaining, but don't wear out the WildUte sounder. I might disagree with him on his valuation of some schools because he doesn't factor in their legacy/tradition. Ute looked like the sounder bothered him.
I agree we try to be cognoscente about overplaying stuff.
@@EvilBadger72 I totally agree that Wild Ute is awesome don't get me wrong but he doesn't add the value of brands from a historical point. Viewership is a part of value but the historical part is crucial! Some of the teams could start a winning run at any time that drastically changes their viewership???
I believe that 24 is the magic number for the @BigTen and for the @SEC
@BigTen has 18 need 6:
ND
FSU
Stanford
Miami
Cal
Utah
@SEC has 16 need 8
UNC
UVA
Clemson
Kansas
VT
Louisville
West Virginia
Oklahoma State
Big 12
NC STATE
Duke
Wake
Syracuse
PItt
Oregon State
Washington State
Georgia Tech
UCONN (minus football)
Gonzaga
Always a bit slow on the end game? I've been predicting ~24 each for over 2 years.
As things stand, SEC adds....
UVA
UNC
DUKE
CLEMSON
KANSAS
+3 among VATECH, NCSTATE, others
@@tarheel7406 We se each other for the most part 90% anyway. 😂
@@igotthekeiskeithmoore4719 My apologies anyway, your icon confused me to think you were a different commentor who tends to "borrow" my analysis and present without crediting.
BTW... I'd replace one of your "to B1Gs" with GATECH.
@@tarheel7406 It's all good. My thoughts are pretty original. And my opinions are based on what makes sense name brand and marketing wise. Imma Tarheel fan too so Duke going with UNC makes sense other than the Duke football brand leaves a lot to be desired. But their basketball brand and along with the UNC-Duke rivalry more than makes up for Duke's lack of football success. #goheels
ND, Miami & Stanford stay in the ACC.adds Rice, Tulane & USF
Big 10 Clemson & FSU
SEC; KU, NC St, UVA & UNC
Big XII Memphis, Louisville & BSU
