    You need to take the outlet hose off the factory filter and prime the hand pump until you get a clean solid flow of diesel into a jar. That way you no you’ve bled all the air out of both filters.

    • @HuntShootOffroad
      @HuntShootOffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I change the filters every service, you just pump until it's all but rock hard, it doesn't take long, you don't need to remove the hoses.

    I found when I installed mine on my 2010 Hilux it won't prime the fuel system. Was pumping the primer for over 5 minutes without it going hard.
    Opened the top of the pre filter and poured fuel in there and was able to prime the system that way but it only ran for a minute or so then stopped.

    Hey mate what year is your hilux? I just installed mine on a 2013 hilux and no matter what I do I can’t keep air out of the lines keeps stalling out can’t find any air leaks anywhere my mechanic said some hiluxs just don’t agree with the added pressure of a pre filter what are your thoughts? I’ve just removed it for now til I find a solution

    • @HuntShootOffroad
      @HuntShootOffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is a 2013. I had the same problem after a mechanic did a service. He hadn't tightened the screw in fittings. Replace the factory house clamps with the new threaded ones.
      You just need to make sure there are no leaks in the system. A mechanic told me you can put an air compressor in the fuel filler to find leaks.

    Why did you install a pre filter if the factory one already has a water separator with warning light indicator when accumulated?

    • @HuntShootOffroad
      @HuntShootOffroad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because water is the biggest killer of diesel injectors. This filter has a far superior water separator. One bad batch of diesel and your injectors can be ruined.
      If you are never gong to leave the city you are probably wasting your money. If there is a chance you have to use a dodgy fuel station then it's worth it's weight in gold!

    • @creeatd
      @creeatd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@HuntShootOffroad I can understand what you're saying mainly only applies to outback servos where diesel has been sitting in their tanks for awhile and all sorts of things can happen algae build up, condensation etc but also a pre doesn't mean it gives your engine immunity. Good diesel is always a must.
      I leak mine out every 5k service just to be safe I don't wait for the light to come on and I tell you what no drops of water come out. Fuel in urban area's is of good standard.
      Just make sure that pre doesn't restrict diesel flow to the engine otherwise it can do the very thing it was meant to prevent.

    • @HuntShootOffroad
      @HuntShootOffroad  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@creeatd yeah 100% the pre-filter is 30 micron, the factory filter is 5 micron, so no issues there.

    When you fitted this pre filter you said that you changed the factory fuel filter at the same time, I was wondering if there is anything on the factory filter to allow you to drain off any water that might have accumulated? I have seen a few videos of people changing the factory filter but no one seems to try to drain off whatever is remaining in the bowl - Surely if there is any water contamination IN THE Diesel, it will gather in the bowl of the filter and the Diesel will float on top. Just seems that there should be a way to drain the factory bowl dry and clean before fitting a brand new filter.

      It needs to be the right way round for the filter to work correctly. The filter is designed to work one way, might collapse or something.
      There are multiple fitting connections on both sides with blank off connections. You can swap them around to suit. But if you are unsure of what you are doing I wouldn't mess with it.
