I took a 6'8 man to parkrun and it was an eye-opening experience. Running is not often seen as something for a tall or bigger person, but this is Jon's story.
I agreed to try and pace Jon to a 25 minute 5K at Brooklands parkrun - just how close could we get?
Thank you to the organisers and volunteers at Brooklands parkrun for a great event.

Well done Harry, it's great to see you supporting another runner and using your own community to lift up others - a perfect embodiment of the parkrun spirit!
Got to love that parkrun spirit
Harry, you are always holding others up. It is inspiring. It’s the kind of stuff that’s going to change the world. I know this isn’t much, but it’s a small token to let you know that other people are noticing what you’re doing. Thank you for being you.
Incredibly kind - thank you and appreciate you turning up to watch when I release the videos I create
Harry
That's such a perfect summary of what Harry brings. Wonderful human being.
I don’t normally comment on TH-cam videos but felt compelled to post on this one being a 6ft8 28 year old myself!
It took me years to feel comfortable with my own height and to see it as a positive thing rather than something to be embarrassed about (not like it’s something I can even control 😂) this is something I felt until my early 20’s and actually contributed to me suffering anxiety, which I actually use running to help keep under control nowadays!
Jon you’re a legend mate, I’m also aiming to run a sub 25 PB and I’m going to use this video as inspiration to try and achieve it this weekend! I’m going to always tell myself to walk tall from now one too!
Very best wishes, hope you smash your pb, I am only 6ft 3” myself but in my day that was enormous! I suffered with comments too and low esteem etc, so hope you get there. Walk tall and don’t forget to duck! 😅
Peace and love for the fellow tall fella. Let’s do a parkrun together ❤ Jon
6ft + running club
I'm 6'6 myself lost a whooping 10 stone recently come from 26st to 15.11 and start couch to 5k a week ago I'm currently on week 2 I'm determined to complete this!
I CAN DO THIS. 🎉
I definetly understand the anxiety problem. Many very tall people have it, especially if they were freakishly tall as a teenager. The rude comments and stares were the problem for me. Sports and working towards a passion helps increase self esteem and confidence in general. So, keep it up!
Thank you, Harry, for sharing this fantastic video! It was an honour to be there with my birthday balloon! Those last couple of seconds when we did the big jump actually made me quite emotional, as it summed up how amazing the JOG ON community is.
The effort you and Jon put into that parkrun was fantastic, and thanks to your motivation, he'll get that sub-25 soon 🧡
Thank you Kerry, what a superb morning and a wonderful community 🧡
Amazing emotional video. I hate running. I love running. I think many will relate.
I just got back from a run, so I definitely relate! I hated running when I started the video all sweaty and thirsty, now at the end of it I feel human again and somehow love running. 😄
Thanks both
your channel is so underrated. JOG on
Appreciate it
I loved how you were there for Jon but also put in the finished of the other JogOn community, especially the sub 20 achievement! This was nice to see!
Wonderful to see multiple performances
Such a nice one! Waving at you from downstairs, I'm a 5'2" (1,57m) dude utterly happy not to stick out. "Never understood to pay for extra legroom on a plane - every seat is business class for me :-D"
Cheers for sharing, Jon was superb in this, and it was amazing to hear his story
Any run where you take over 20 seconds off a PB is a great run. Excellent work and effort, the 25 min barrier will be broken fairly soon, good luck and keep going
Absolutely Andy and thank you 🧡
Ah makes me seem "short" at 6'5" but a lot of parallels I see there like ducking for branches and doors. My best distances have always really been 800/1500. Bit of a myth that long legs help over long distances as bigger frames need more effort to keep going and things like our shoes (if they even do our size - often don't in a UK 13 that I am) are that much bulkier. However we are easy to spot on a start line and I can usually peer over fences and get things down from top shelves :)
Long legs help as long as they're attached to a normal-sized frame. Also very useful in football, since you can often get a toe to the ball from further away than your opponent was expecting given your height!
Appreciate you sharing Tim - hoping all is well in your world
H
As someone who is also 6' 8" at 23, and played college volleyball instead of running, I have never heard someone explain my life in a video online as accurately as John did. It truly is the first thing everyone says to you and there are times it can be overwhelming and annoying, and times it can be a huge blessing. I hope John enjoys his journey immensely and enjoys running with his community!
Hugs Colin ❤. I was a basketball star at 18. If I have helped you with the height thing that’s great. It’s not all bad. Perhaps we can do a parkrun together. Jon
Thanks for sharing Colin, all the best with your journey 🔥
another amazing video
🔥
What a warrior Jon is, a great running story
⚔️ 🧡
Thank you 🙏
Mystery hero at 04:19 here, well done Jon on the PB and thanks to Brooklands for the loan of the cape! Good to see this as another taller runner (at a mere 6'4")
Ah yes! ❤ Jon
Hello Stephen! The mystery superhero himself
At 6’10 I found this video extremely relatable. I struggle with confidence about my height. That constant badgering from others with the “how tall are you” questions is tiresome at times.
Tree roots, I 100% agree. The same goes for curbs and stairs!
Well done on the PB. 1 day I will hopefully run a whole parkrun without stopping to walk & break 30 mins!
Walk tall good sir. Be proud and show your height
Much love ❤️ Jon
Well done. Keep pushing
Amazing to read. Hopefully I get to meet you @lathama in the future
Great video and great pb. I love watching parkrun on your channel.
I am an event director for my local parkrun. We have a super flat and fast course although everyone is welcome, not just fast runners. Its an out and back and I would love to welcome Harry and any Jog On members.
Selby parkrun in North yorkshire. Try us out if ever visiting, you will be looked after.
Thanks Dave very much appreciate the invite. We are in fact doing a JOG ON meet up this Saturday (22nd) at Fountains Abbey, we will be quite close I imagine!
This is why I love being part of JOGON.
Great video as always and being part of this community has helped me run again.
Cheers Harry
It was great to have you there Iain, sporting the cap as always
Congratulations Jon. Fantastic job. Rachelle in Seattle
Hello Seattle! Coming there one of these days! ❤
Thanks Rachelle - Jon was awesome in this
Well done Jon. Sub 25 just round the corner!!! Amazing story. Thanks for sharing Harry.
Cheers Paul 🙏 🔥
Well done jon incredible PB 🤙👏👏👏. Lovely motivation Harry Inspiring us all! 🤙
Cheers Chris hoping you’re well
What a lovely man ❤ Really felt for him. He must get so many comments, people thinking they’re being funny but must be quite wearing. Well done Jon on a great PB! Sub 25 is definitely coming 🤩
❤❤❤
🧡
Well done, Jon and great work, Harry.
Thanks April, Jon is great
Gripping stuff! Thanks Harry.
Must say, I was not gripped by the Brooklands course. Enticingly flat, but somewhat repetitive.
Keep up the great work.
Cheers David, it's not one for glorious scenery - it's a bit of history with some fast, flat running thrown in
My pleasure.
Actually, just took a glimpse at the old motor circuit on Google maps and a section of the famous banking is still there. They should find a way of integrating it into the parkrun course. Surely?
"Classic soaring eagle pose" complete with sound effects! 🤣
Good effort Jon. Just need to find ONE second per kilometre and BAZINGA, silver anniversary flat!
Inspirational as always Harry, LOVE your work. 🎉
Love your comments
Thanks Ben
That was so exciting. Well done, John!!!
Cheers Vivien
Another brilliant video Harry great running too 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🍀
Cheers Karl 🙏
What a video!
What a comment
As always very enjoyable and nice emotional finish.
A dramatic finish too - we were so very close
Huge PB! Great work Jon! 🎉🎊🏅🏃♂
He ran fantastically well with such a big effort
You should bottle your enthusiasm and kindness, it would be a top seller, these videos where you help other folk go for their goals are so uplifting, replace all news channels with The Harry Morgan show, world would benefit, toning it down a bit i want to say just brilliant , 😊🏃
What a comment 🌍
Great video
Keep them coming, very useful.
Will do Gary
Let's go Jon!!!
Peace ✌️
JOG ON 2: The Legend of Bradbury
These kinda videos always get me abit emotional at the end. Inspiring stuff love it & love parkrun!
Thanks Ollie for watching what I make
Harry
Well done Jon! Loved the crew cheering him on at the end - I blimmin' love this community 🧡
It is a wonderful community 🧡
great to see big/tall runners. I ran 2.49 marathon at 6'4 and 92 kg so it's possible
Awesome Matthew, thanks for sharing
Lovely running!
6’7” here (and 15-16 st), so a lot of this resonated with me.
Cheers for the video, Harry!
Thanks Mack, look forward to meeting you at some point
H
Love these Parkrun pacing videos Harry!
I can relate to Jon, it’s the 4th KM that I always have to fight through. Last KM I love though, like a horse seeing the barn, and I refuse to lose a sprint finish!
Thanks for the great content as always.
Cheers, that last K is such a big one for holding the target pace
Brilliant.. well done, Jon!
cheers Heather
Really fab video. Great to see so many of the Jog On Crew. Well done Jogonites!
Thank you!
Loved it!!... Jog on Jon!!.. 🎉🎉🏃♂️🏃♂️x
JOG ON Jon has arrived 🧡 🎉
Well done Jon & great pacing Harry! Another awesome video, as usual! 😊🏃♂️
Cheers Archie
Very inspiring! I’m looking forward to running my first park run soon ❤️ thank you
Awesome, enjoy it
Another great video Harry, You’re such an inspiration I need someone like you at my Parkrun!
Appreciate the comment
Watching this video after a park run myself and its given me the push to keep going. As a tall girl I do struggle with my height. But its made me want to stand taller and keep bettering myself! Thank you 🙂
Stand tall exactly ❤ Jon
Awesome to read. Stand tall indeed
At 195cm/6’5’‘ I‘m always the tallest at our local parkrun, nice to see some representation 😆
Peace ✌️- Jon 🧡
@@wildthinairCongrats on your record :)
Jon is reppin' well
Just come across the channel and subscribed - great vid! As a 6’8/119kg budding runner/triathlete, I feel some of Jon’s pain :) Look forward to future vids and catching up on past ones, keep it up!
Thanks for sharing your story Mitch and cheers for watching!
I’m around 6‘7 and 210lbs and I always tower over everyone at every race. It’s a good build for the 400/800m tho, I’ve seen quite some success there
Thanks for sharing, see you on a start line and cheers for watching
Just terrific - congrats on the PB Jon!
I'm 6ft6, and this was so relatable it was uncanny.
I started running this year to lose weight and deal with stress, and had been under 25 mins just once. I recently messed around with a few 10ks, and then today, out of nowhere, ran a 5k in 23:15.
I also wonder how to use my height and make the most of my stride length, so it was great to hear your perspective.
Best of luck in hunting down sub 25, sometimes it just happens when you least expect it!
Thank you for sharing and amazing to read Edward. Well done on a huge pb today.
Great stuff Harry, some really good editing, another very high quality video. Was a great meet-up, hopefully get to another one soon!
Thank you Jonathan - it was great to finally have you feature (apart from the JOG ON Mile)
I’m always surprised that tall people don’t just dominate running seeing as how their stride length is so amazing. Well done Jon.
Because it's harder for us to keep cool and keep our HR down.
Stride length is myth , stride rate is the key to running fast, every fast runner turns over at 180 strides per minute
It's an interesting point, thank you for watching
Awesome effort! I’m 6’7 and am feeling so inspired!
Amazing, see you at a race one day
Glad I have inspired you. ❤ Jon
25 is a huge accomplishment. well done job and another great video happy!
Cheers for your support
Really felt teary eyed at the end of this video. Way to go Jon! Keep up the good work Harry.
🧡 thanks Damian
Harry
What a day for a cracking run by John!! Absolutely smashing run and new course PB, that sub 25 will come dont you worry. Dont forget to run through the finish line. A great day had by all Jogonites. Thanks for a great story and video Harry 😊
Micalleff flys again

Another fantastic video. Congratulations Jon! You make such good videos Harry 👏👏🧡
Very kind, they take a huge amount of effort to make, so it's appreciated 🧡
I’m so glad I watched your running 🏃♂️ video, that was inspiring. 🙏
I'm glad you watched too - thank you
Wonderful video once again which holds so many excellent sentiments and messages. Fantastic effort Jon, and a great run.
Cheers Tom
The most inspiring running channel on TH-cam, what running is truly all about

Amazing video. Jon your an inspiration for all us tall runners.
Love to Jon 🧡
Well done Jon, a fantastic effort to get to that PB. And great work Harry and the JogOn crew 🧡 this video sums up why I love this running community

Another finely crafted video Harry... keep 'em coming. Gazz and Rileyboy. 🤩
Hope you and Rileyboy are well Gazz
that was fun to watch!
Thanks for watching
Thank you for another fantastic video Harry.
Well done to Jon for an amazing effort 💪
Seeing so many of the jog on crew together is quite an emotional thing. What an awesome community 🧡
Thank you Dave, it was a wonderful morning 🧡
gutted I keep missing you at some of my local parkruns! another great video Harry
One day Becky
I found myself cheering out loud as Jon was getting near the finish line. Well done!!
Awesome that you got so into it
Thanks for watching
What a great feel-good video.
Thank you, appreciate the comment and view
H
🤗Wow!! What a wonderful effort🤗
Hoping that you're well sir!
Brilliant
🔥
Great video!! Well done Jon and well done big G for the 1st place 🥳
It was a highly enjoyable morning
At 6'10" / 208cm / 110kg I felt like Jon was my shorter slightly lighter faster brother and i empathised with everything he said about beds, showers, armpit monster etc :P
I run 5k at around 34m on average, I would love to be as fast as Jon - how did you drop from 36m to 25m?
It took four years. Garmin pace per km helps. Run three times in the week Tuesday to Thursday ❤
🧡
Well done Jon! I’m chasing sub 20 at the moment too! You’ll get there! Thanks Harry for another great video!
Thanks for watching again
Beautiful story!
Thank you
I continue to marvel at your story telling in just over 10 minutes. You had me rooting for you both!
I love story telling
A great video and fantastic effort by Jon and all the other Jog On Crew. It was a great Saturday morning meeting up 🎉
Loved having you there Jim
Jog on jim!!!! Love it x
Howzit from Cape Town, great video thank you.
Hello Cape Town - thank you 🙏
Amazing effort Jon! I’m 6’4” 104kg and I’ve been running solid for over two years now. I’ve just eventually broke into the sub 20s (19:44) at Parkrun. It’s been a long journey but the hard work paid off. Never let your height hinder your goals. Let’s go the tall people 👊🏻
Nice work! Thank you for sharing
Great video mate! Congrats on the PB Jon- Great running 🏃♂️ 👊
Cheers Sonny
Keep up the videos. Love the channel. Just started my running journey at 54. Wish I was in UK.
Will do, all the best in your own journey!
Harry
It was funny to see this video as I’m also 6’8, and have been trying to run more often
Thanks for sharing Henry, Jon was great to talk to. What a wonderful height and to be celebrated.
Hoping your running continues to improve and all the best.
Harry, you are such a great inspiration to me and my running! You should definitely try out Horsham Parkrun, it’s a mix of tarmac, trail and grass and it’s great fun! ❤
Will hopefully run there some day
Great Video. I saw Jonathan at a Parkrun today and it was very nice to meet him
Awesome - he's a wonderful person
Hi Harry. I am towards the end of the NHS app couch to 5km and I was researching what do after completing it when I found your series with Anne Marie. Now I’ve starting binge watching your videos and also started on the podcast. I find them (you) so motivational and I am really excited to see where my running takes me. Thank you so much
This is an awesome comment Holly. We have a 5K Improver Plan that a lot of people are doing now to go for that next personal best. Wishing you well with your running journey
I am 35, 6ft 10" and just discovered ParkRun a couple of weeks back. I run the Wicksteed Park (Kettering) course and have just completed my second ParkRun, Week One I was at 34.33 (6.54 min/km), Week Two I managed to shave 3 minutes off and now sit at 31:34 (6.23 min/km). Obviously not record breaking times but I am happy with where I am at for now and, over time I am sure these will come down even further.
Really enjoyed watching this story and, having discovered your channel and Jog On today am really enjoying your content too.
I have always embraced and enjoyed being tall but there were certainly aspects of this video that were relatable for sure!
That’s awesome to read. Thanks for subscribing!
@@thisisjogon not a problem at all. If you are ever up/down this way then feel free to reach out, would love to get my time down and have somebody help push me beyond my comfort zone.
Loved the video, I’m a big fella myself, 6ft 3” and often get singled out. There was a time when the ‘Token Checker’ would check my token at parkrun, easy to spot me from the rest of the runners. Keep up with the content and with inspiring people, really like your commentary style Harry, very amusing and so well polished these days. 😊
Cheers John, thanks for commenting on the commentary - I've worked very hard and it and want to keep making it better. JOG ON will always be about quality over quantity. Thank you for watching what I make
H
Well done Jon & Harry. Same parkrun PB as me now - we three should try and get that sub 25mins somewhere & soon!
Thank you Paul!
Well done John. Not many people can run 25 minutes. Good job 👍
A huge barrier for many, as mentioned in the latest JOG ON Podcast episode with Harley Brown
I've always been very physically active but as someone 6'8" and 15-16 stone (under 14 now though) always considered myself too big and heavy to run. Came in very handy for rowing and volleyball though. I started watching Mark Lewis on here a couple of years ago who is a similar height and weight to me and he does ultramarathons, I figured if he could manage those then I could do 5k. I followed his advice of reading Born To Run, changing to mid-strike and getting some zero drop, minimalist trainers. And I'm absolutely loving it. I got my Parkrun from 28:40 to 24:50 although haven't done one for months so I suspect I'll be knocking at least a minute off for the next one. Have targeted a 50k trail run in December so just been doing long Zone 2 runs for months now.
thanks for sharing, wishing you continued success 🔥
Well done Jon, I’m 6 foot 5 and this running lark getting harder on the knees, feet’ hips and I too hope to go sub 25 ASAP .not close at the moment but that’s the aim. Convinced the tall people are much less efficient and get more tired quicker .
Keep going
Well done on the PB! I’m also 6’8” and run a lot. I am also 21 stone and size 17 feet so find it hard to get under 25 mins. I will do it one day! I like the look of that parkrun, Different to others I’ve done
Thank you for sharing, keep going
Take me to a Parkrun Harry 😆
One day
I was doing a 10k and almost made sub 25 in the first 5k, missed it by 3 seconds. I'm still fuming 😂. Well done Jon. 👏
Hoping you've found more success with the 5K since writing this
@@thisisjogon thank you for the reply still trying to crack the elusive sub 25. But ive got a half marathon this weekend to look forward to. 😊
Amazing, go smash it and enjoy the experience @@tirvplumbing
