- Run Alton Towers is a new event which offers 5K, 10K and Half Marathon options. I took part in the 10K, which takes you on a strange and magical journey though the theme park. This video tries to also give a bit of the history of Alton Towers and some of the rides, including Nemesis, Oblivion, Duel, Hex, Wicker Man, Rita, Runaway Train, Cbeebies Land and Spinball Whizzer.

Interesting fact about this race, those of you who are particularly hawk-eyed, may notice something surprising about the names of the first three 10K finishers. I’ve never seen that before.

I’ve ran the Yorkshire Wildlife Park 5k twice and on both occasions finished amongst a trio of other Michaels.

The porta loo to competitor ratio seemed about right, looks like a well handled event! 😂 I sometimes struggle to film when I am hiking, let along running a flipping 10k, looked like a fantastic route though. I think this video has gotten the most laughs from me so far, favorite comedic moment was the .... "Why Am I Backwards???" 😂

Loved this video Harry. I was one of the 2000 others taking part with you on what was my first ever 10km race. Nowhere near your time at 1.08.00 but wasn't too disheartened as this was my first day allowed out of a 3 week isolation with covid lol. Cheers for the vid, some great memories.

Great video Harry. We watch Lucy's post several weeks back. Looks like a really fun event. Great run by you and Louise. Lucy sometimes runs our local ParkRun , Roding Valley and beats me by around 10 minutes 😉🙂👍

Great video again Harry. Lots of chuckles while watching this - from criminal Ed Sheeran to "Yeah well, I like this for a bit" and the other cameos - together with the interludes of the Alton Towers rides. I'd almost entered this one, so this video is the next best thing. One for next year maybe!

Not many. If it was London 2019 that GB beat Lucy, I remember seeing Lucy pass us at halfway, small world.

Me and a friend did this run, it was exactly as you described it, mental but mint. Really stiff hills! You forget when you walk them but running them and zigzaging and hairpinning corners with them in the park they murder your legs. That day i did it, the run got the best of me but loved it all the same.

Looked like a very similar event to the one that used to take place at Chessington World of Adventures. Lots of twists and turns and a bit undulating but lots of fun. Considering that and that you were filming, that was a great time.

Great video, very entertaining. Thinking about doing a last minute sign up this year. But surely the big question to be answered is what were the queues to the rides like? Did it feel busy?
That year no, it was incredible, we got on everything multiple times Kellie - never experienced anything quite like it. I can't say the same for this year, from a business point of view it wouldn't make sense to keep doing that, from the park's perspective.

Alton towers is only about 50 minutes from my house, one of my friends did the half marathon and finished 21st. Might do it next year. Will you be running it again?
I could be tempted by the Half Joe... It was well worth it for the complete lack of queues to go on the rides
