      Perfect for still water and I agree. Well worth the $$ if only to find the deeper spots! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍

    My harbor freight one works great. It shows fish well and I adjust my bait to that. Usually works out

    This is my first time using the sonar fish finder with transducer and the ibobber,i'm going to have some luck this year.

    Is it detect bottom of sea surface soil or stone?

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it only registers that a shape or irregular structure like a rock or ledge type drop off. Not sensitive enough to distinguish fine details

    Actually in water less than say 20' the area where fish are on the screen will be fairly close to directly under the device and certainly fish showing on screen at the ten foot or less range will be very near the device. Fish show up on the screen from the right so as you are slow trolling or drifting with the device in a fixed position you will know that you are approaching fish and as they leave the screen you have passed the fish. Just knowing the accurate depth and water temp makes it a nice little tool and if it actually shows fish then it's worth a shot for the price if you can't afford a better system.

    you really did a nice job explaining that compared to other reviewers. Can you review some fishing lures?

    Let's get this man to 1000!

    • @BoilerDan1

      Thanks for helping. I retired about 1-1/2 years ago and decided I needed to channel into something other than just travel and sitting around. It became kind of a family joke when I said this could be my FUN MONEY source. My son said when I get to 1,000 he would cancel his subscription to knock me back to 999! I don't think anyone thought I'd actually get there... But I'm close!
      Anyway, thanks for watching and subscribing and the encouragement!

    I tried one of these on canadian waters. It was about as useless as a 3rd foot. Said the lake was 100m deep but a good fish finder said that wasn't even close. We were also near shore

      @@BoilerDan1 isn't that the truth. I thought at first maybe it was the choppy water or I wasn't calibrating it right but I tried it on calm water and it was pretty much the same result. Sometimes you can get good stuff for a cheap price point, but it's a gamble lol

    How deep from the bottom of the kayak should the sonar unit be? I fish trolling with a 10' kayak in a reservoir that normally runs 6' to 10' unless I get closer to the dam which is probably 80'. Normal use will be in the 6' to 10' depth.

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a few inches. It comes with a U shaped clip that you can screw onto a stationary object. I'm guessing you can get results with it at the same depth as your kayak.

    • @darrellfeit7158

      I have a slightly different model "Lucky FF1108-CT" that has a black plastic sonar with a round yellow float that needs to be set 8"-9" apart. It didn't come with the "U clip" but I'm fairly good at fabricating a holding mount. Enjoyed your video--I think trolling would need be be 5 mph at max--maybe 3-4 mph depending on the lure.

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine came with the round yellow float too. But yes, you can make a mount. Instructions say the float needs to have the 8'-9" depth between the float and the black plastic sonar unit but I attached mine to an old broom handle and held it just under the water and it still worked fine and reasonably accurate. I'm still not sure on the accuracy of showing fish, but the depth was good. Thanks again for watching.

    How do you take it out of simulation/sample mode?

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hold down the on/off button down for approximately 6 seconds to turn it off or on. Thanks for watching 👍

    Can that FF be mounted inside the hull of a plastic hull boat?

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sensor must be in the water. It would have to be mounted to the outside of your plastic hull, below the water line.

    I Think it will be perfect for ice fishing. Im just waiting for the ice to settle and i will test my fishfinder.

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think it will work for that. It will show reasonably accurate depth. It will be interesting to see what kind of accuracy you get on where fish are. You might write back after your first attempt and let viewers know how it did or didn't work.

    Lucky fishfinder FF718LiC is a color fishfinder.

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is color, But it just glows blue and the plant/rock segments have a color outline. Not sure what I expected when it said color and I ordered it. But it was the same or maybe less than the non-color one.

  • @ddelski1

    So for less than 50$, it shows you depth and fish at levels of the water column. So why wouldn't that be helpful for a real portable unit? Granted current and float problems, but a stabilizing anchor point is also a bonus if you wanted to hookup to a floating passenger method
    Liked your video 👍

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, in a pond, lake, or slow moving water that you were drifting with the current, I think it is well worth the $$. Unfortunately I'm surrounded by dry land with the only body of water being a little too swift. I can't confirm the reliability of the fish, but I have confirmed that the depth is accurate enough! Thanks for watching.

      Hope to show it in action late next spring when the water warms up. Need to go to a lake so I can use it in still water. It really doesn't work in a current.
