You almost got the gwk explanation correct, but you said Mario touches the other wall because the object rotates. That's not correct, Mario touches the other wall because he just keeps moving forward within that frame, moving past the wall he bonked on and into the next wall before the frame ends.

Oof, I must admit I didn't quite anticipate a video with this structure. I'm surprised you relied so much on srcom for Stage RTA even after you asked me about older records. I guess I did play them off as rather insignificant as I provided them so I'm definitely also to blame for how they weren't properly presented. Had I known that the Stage RTA progression would be such a big focus of the video, I would have tried harder to make sure that it wouldn't result in any inaccuracies.
For the record, this is how the early record progression actually looked like (as far as I could tell):
7:00 by hosi (2010-02-24 on EMU)
6:43 by Sippunosura (2011-04-11)
6:29 by Siglemic (2011-05-16, on his "Hannasm64" account)
6:16.9 by Honey (2011-07-16)
6:08.76 by Nero (2011-10-07)
5:57.92 by Honey (2012-08-21)
5:57.75 by Caplico (2012-10-23)
5:56.52 by Pobo (2015-04-25)
5:55.68 by marshmallow (2016-03-11)

As you can see, Honey wasn't the first to do a Stage RTA and he actually never had the record for long, while Caplico held it for almost 3 years. And Xiah wasn't first to get a sub 5:50 either.
Of course, most of the runs you didn't mention don't have videos anymore so it would've been tricky if not pointless to feature them anyway, and I did say that Stage RTA progressions can be rather phony because some (if not most) true records are set in full-game runs or even in practice where they usually aren't taken note of, specifically in the past. So there is good reason not be too bothered about details here since the strats are a lot more important.
It's a good video though, especially the second half is done very well. Just makes me feel a little embarrassed that I wasn't a big help on the first half.
sorry about this, we trired something new this time when it came to the research. we may considering cleaning some stuff up to avoid any inaccuracies or mis information. we really do appreciate all the help you gave though!

Bomberman Hero Redial was such a great choice to put in here.. I replay a lot of the OST often because it really is musical genius.

i just did a review of this game, and it came to my realization that rainbow ride really feels like an extra stage. it’s so odd and filled full of stuff that i feel would’ve been better in other stages.

Awesome vid, loads of hard work must have gone into this. Not sure if you were aware, but Snark's strat wasn't actually the earliest carpetless strat, although it was the first one to be completed by a human being.
There was a TAS strat using BLJs to get to the house, as seen here in the 120 star TAS from late 2012:
