Wow, the routes for all of these levels have changed DRASTICALLY since I tried speedrunning as a teenager. 5 years and I guess that'll do it to you.

This is kinda glossing over the fact that GS got insanely lucky with his MIPS clip, where his perfect angle allowed him to punch the door frame and grab MIPS at the same time. Until a way is found to reliably replicate that trick it's going to be extremely difficult to beat the record, since that's a 1 second guaranteed time loss if you miss it.

Are sign clips in HMC ever gonna be a viable time save for 16 star or is that going to be single star exclusive for the known future?

Everyone forgets about 16 star no lblj(which should be main category imo)Finnii tied the record with many mistakes and on the American version of sm64.

Considering that Carpetless is basically mandatory in 120 star for WR (an hour and a half into a good run btw), it's hard to rule out any strat as being off the table these days.

A perfect speedrun performed by humans doesn't exist but when speedruns come to the point of the most optimized strats and even tas strats, it's quite capable that human expectations can be beaten with the mindset to grind. You know a run is getting pretty optimized when the timesave is in the details to save half a second here and there.

Great video and extremely well explained and Paced! Which LBj;s in general to me not that you meant in general UI don't think... Are famous examples of spoeed run tech as they are what people want from watching a speed run as well as the effort and final time ofcorse... Unlike alot a major Pokemona nd Zelda speed run tech that people do hate as they change the game completely not that they are not as fun as SM64 speed runs just SM64 speed runs are the game done fast. And now with multiplayer mods most speed run tech can easly be used in multiplayer like manhaunt as well as normal cuasl play ofcorse... Unlike pokemon and Zelda which tend to look like holly hacking/cheatcodes over the game the viewer is nostogic for... So yeah personally I don't get the hate but I do see why most people don't like speedruns that massively change the game instead of it done fast...

0:25 by cheating. All these guys can get all the original hardware, get all the equipment for capturing the video, have decent pc, and can get a camera to show their face… but not nearly enough of these runner use a hand cam
