The fact that you don't know in real time if a run is a record and you literally have to wait until it's re-timed is the most Sonic 06 thing ever.
That isn't unique to Sonic 06, a lot of games do this

DSS' run in AGDQ is one of my favorites, dude's is very informative when doing tricks and glitches and that's what makes it enjoyable to watch.

It's a great video to introduce a lot of people to the speedrunning scene for Sonic 06 and might lead to people being curious about the other categories too. 06 is probably one of the funniest sonic games, just goofing around on it waas a blast, at least for me haha
You know Sega is made up of gigachads when they'll actively showcase a glitch and explain where they messed up.
The need to discount the loading screens give this category an extra challenge (also, first time in this channel, I like the skits, they do remember me from a time where youtube was much less corporate)

these speedrunning documentaries are so interesting.
I remember years ago when I wanted to join the speedrunning community of '06 when I say TripleAgent's run in GDQ, after watching DarkSpinesSonic for a while beforehand. The whole community is so welcoming, and they're all really nice people. It was really fun to watch this documentary, it made me happy to see the work they put into their crafts. Great job everyone involved!
Just as a little addition, if anyone feels inspired to start speedrunning '06 from this video, give it a shot. The community is wonderful, and all of the runners I had the pleasure of talking to were great folks. I think it'd be a fantastic group to be a part of.

This video is friggin awesome
Focus losing the video footage for his run was heartbreaking, imagine being cast out of a community for forging your runs and after years of regaining trust with them you achieve the biggest achievement possible but it's unable to be verified.
Y'know I used to have a lot of contempt for this game, but the older I get, the more I grow to just unironically like it. The glitches are absurd, but introduce so much cool tech to the game. The story is insane. The photorealistic humans add so much uncanniness to the world. The bosses are actually really cool despite having some of the worst designed fights any human can have the displeasure of playing. And to top it all off, the ost is actually full of bangers. Sonic 06 mught be a laughingstock but I wouldn't "fix" a single one of its flaws. It's a beautiful trash fire.

The worst part about this game is that the story and premise is great (hilariously bad at times, but still great), if it just got another year and a half to fix the glitches and especially the loading times, we would have a brilliant game on our hands; and i havent even mentioned the music yet.
