I've been grinding 0 stars by not not speedrunning
congrats on wr
My guy is 00.0
Double negative, Not not speed running is speed running.
@@Saggy315 ngl I don't know where the second not came from lmao
Can't trust my own hands
Watching this video really makes you realize how dominant green suigis records are. You have all this build up of neck and neck races to break wr barriers and then green suigi just obliterates those times
yk people are saying this is a summoning salt ripoff but genuinely this is a pretty good video. well researched and pretty good editing. keep it up!
who is saying that
This is not summoning salt this is Sumonning trey
This is not summoning salt this is Sumonning trey
@@smoceany9478 check the older comments lol
There was clearly some inspiration from summoning salt but this video is very good indeed
16:54 I'm calling it, the player must have been Matt Turk.
The Ultimate DDD Skip Suigi describes at 19:08 is known as YOLO SBL, while the one shown on screen is normal Ultimate DDD Skip from Cosmalano. He provided us with an explanation of the one shown on screen- "The ultimate suigi is describing approaches the door from the side, where as the one in the clip falls into the door. Vertical motion during airbljs is always the same, regardless of speed, so he always launches on the exact same quarter frame, which is not a controlled variable in the usual method, and a major source of its inconsistency, even when the same inputs are performed.
The sblj and airbljs are more specific to ensure that this “falling” launch happens, but if done properly, it leaves only 2 possible frames for the hall blj. The launch requires a specific stick angle, so everything about this method is controlled, which is what makes it more consistent than the method that launches from the side, but it doesnt lose any time compared to the “yolo” method (besides cases where you mash fast on the sblj or do 1 airblj for yolo), which is why it’s hard to see a difference. This method also allows for a ground pound directly into fire sea, however this is extremely hard and hence not in the clip"
Thanks for posting this. Just to add one thing, “yolo ultimate” is the normal ultimate ddd skip. “Yolo” is just my phrasing since the quarter frame isnt controlled. I dont really have a name for mine yet
Yeah the one he showed is not the original strat. In my opinion the one I do it is the most consistent strat
@@Suigi the one in the clip is different from the old one that used that launch. This one is more consistent now
@@Suigi i wanna learn sblj but don't really know what to practice first. since there are so many steps to it, which do you think i should practice the most?
We need more people doing speed running content like this
Taka's 9:11 was an inside job
Pokes ending was gold LMAO
so true
Great video! Would love to see more of these for each category
yes
Criminally underated video deserves way more views. Hope you make more of this style content, big fan !
im happy now because my run finally on progression lol
so i note, 7:40 is not my first wr, 8:30(2011/08/28) and 8:11(no date but earlier than 2011/11/01) are existed.
actually wow, you're still commenting after years since your wr, hope you're doing well
you get as many stars in this category as how many achievements i have in life, wow.
I'm loving those history videos, I'm really looking forward for more! I feel though that there's a 0 star runner that is by far the most underrated, simply because he never got to hold an actual WR, which is Cjrokokomero, also known as Cj; between 2022 and 2023 he has been on many WR paces, basically constantly in 2nd place, also setting many former community bests, he was probably THE WR contender and very likely to get one... he unfortunately never managed to break through. Even during Suigi's dominance, he got some WR paces, of which also a 6:14 bpt into BLJs. He's currently not running SM64 for the moment.
Also, Cosmalano has been developing ultimate DDD skip to some crazy levels, developing setups that he proved to have some insane consistency compared to what it used to be just 1 year ago.
I'm not an expert at all, so I really hope noone takes my words for granted and check out both people, it's for completely different reasons, but I really feel like they both deserve much much more attention.
agreed! i just wanted to focus more on the wr history rather than too much out of that realm. cj and cosma are very awesome
@@treybordo oh no no, it wasn't a criticism, objectively speaking they both didn't have any 0 star WR, it was just a small attempt to spread the word. I really enjoyed the video!
Before you thank me for watching, thank SummoningSalt for popularizing the genre of speed running history vids on YT. 🐬
I don’t understand what this means
hop off his meat, he has no idea you exist x
Dude this is amazing work, youre definitey gonna blow up.
Please make more videos like this! This and the Dark World video were excellent. The SM64 speedrunning community could use more content like this
In my opinion the 120, 70, and 0 star categories are the most important. 16 and 1 star are technically just legacy routes for any percent. I'm really excited whenever the 0 star wr gets beaten.
Crazy thing about Suigi's current WR run is that he made more than 4 seconds worth of mistakes in the BLJs and BitS making sub 6:15 possible. He was on best pace ever by less than a tenth of a second after BitFS. 6:14 is definitely possible, but I'll be extremely shocked when it happens.
Nice video, looking forward for more super mario 64 content👍
I love the shit that goes in to all of this with this damn game.
Cool video man
"it's been an hour" I'm crying rn
Good job, this was super informative! Thank you!
Great video man!
The end music fucking killed me lmao
6:00 this run was 9 years too late…
xD
Great Video! More of these!
Weegeee also had some very scary paces, but now my memory is failing, because I remember it being a minute barrier break. So maybe it was for 1 star, which Suigi eventually got anyway.
Great video, keep up the good work!
6:16 was is done in LA?
great vid had a lot of fun watching it
that adult swim noon bump at 5:01 caught me WAY off guard
Amazing video, keep it up man!
I’m obsessed with this game and watching these and then I finally found the DS remakes and they’re just as WILD. 😂
Another treybordo banger also shoutouts to cosmalano (goat)
You need to make more of these videos, these are soooo good
I saw comments comparing this to Summoning Salt. Idk if that is the kind of content you aim for, but just in case, here's some constructive criticism from a fellow video editor.
The biggest gap is in storytelling skills, this video felt too much like a list of records.
To be more summoning salty (aka an enegaging story that keeps you on your toes and makes you love the speedrun even if you've never seen the category before) it needs to focus more on the runners' emotions, goals and motivations, make more cliffhangers, show close attempts that failed, and give important moments time to breath (eg you can't say that someone made a crazy improvement with a crazy skip and after 0.1 seconds move on to someone else).
Just the first things that came to mind, hope this helps!
He could start by thanking summoningsalt 🐬
this will definitely be taken into account in the next video we produce. one thing we want to make clear is while we take inspiration from summoning salt, we dont intend to build a story the same way he does. our recaps are made by speedrunners for speedrunners, hence the brevity in certain segments which come from the hindsight that the viewers of the video know what we are talking about (the bowser in the dark world reds wr recap is a perfect example of something niche) however i can also acknowledge the face paced nature of the video is for viewer retention. slowly but surely the length and script will increase with each new video
another thing to mention as far as the recap is considered, research for categories like 0/1 star are not as heavily documented. meaninc there really wasn't alot for us to work with during the research period regarding runs/runners due to the insane gaps in time each period of the wr grind took.
@@remedy64 Good luck! Grow this channel 🔥
4:30 could've been explained better, I've been staring at the shadows for 5 minutes and I'm not seeing any difference
how close they are to the white tile on the right, not to the grey
@@remedy64 Still not seeing any difference. But I appreciate the effort!
its miniscule, wouldnt expect a casual runner to notice. but the differences are there
Ong, is the different shadows in the room with us rn?
@@remedy64holy shit how do people discover these things?! Wow
Great video! I dont even play this game but really enjoyed it
Subbed keep uploading
Really good video, the only thing that would make it better would be to focus on the players a bit more and explain who they are instead of just showing their runs. Make it a story not just an explaination of the history. Anyway that's just my 2 cents. Thank you for the content !
Summoning treybordo (Good job by the way!)
I thought SBLJ stood for “stairs BLJ”
slope blj
watching this before i get some shuteye for pace
Based first background song. I use that as a modded victory theme for my main in smash ultimate
Hey, I like the video man. Saw it in my recommended and decided to see how well it was made. Production, writing, and audio are all pretty good, and I think you could keep doing this. However, I do think you could use some differentiation from our boi SummoningSalt. This isn’t to say that this is a copy paste of his style of content. However, the choice of music background and general editing style are a little too close to what he does for your individual personality to shine through. Hope you keep making more stuff man, and good luck
He could at least thank summoningsalt in his video 🐬
@@OrcaTrumpetwhy? So I guess no one else can make a world record history video because it’s “stealing” from him even though he didn’t make that kind of video lol
@@dultzywaltzy can acknowledge the person who brought the category into popularity and viability. The person who set the standard.
this vid is so good why are you so underrated
You’ve earned my subscription with this content quality, but I would stray from the music you’re currently using (personal opinion). It puts the thought of more popular content creators into the mind of your viewers and hinders your ability to develop your own identity with the great content you’re making. Keep up the work dude👍 can’t wait for the next video
Song name at 17:00 ?
Extremely good video!! Loving the scripted content :))))
Very nice video, hope to see more crazy tricks in 0 star in the future, or 1 key! It will happen, I know it.
Hey as a side note
For a non player it would be nice to have some backstory to the route that is taken, how the players came up with it and just explanation in general.
It just started of too quickly for my feeling
Other than that great video :)
Next up: 1 star progression history
Very well made video!
Nice video bro! Just some constructive criticism: if you’re brand new to the Mario 64 speed running scene this might be a little bit of whiplash for them. I think explanation on what BLJs are and negative speed, why you need to take the route that you do and why it’s different from other categories, and a little better explanation on the pole up warp. (or suggest a video for more info, there’s lots of them) Otherwise I love speed run history videos like these, would love to see more dog!
appreciate it! we were pretty unsure how deep to go for each trick just because there’s quite a bit of videos explaining bljs
@@treybordo That’s a fair point for sure. Though I think it’s always nice for people, especially new people, to get a brief explanation of obscure mechanics that aren’t very obvious when you’re casually playing. For example slip drifting or wall hopping in Mario Kart Wii, or moonkick in Donkey Kong 64. Those are things that are very prevalent in speedrunning those games but aren’t obvious and are helpful to know or get a refresher even if you already know about it. They also only take a little bit to explain.
It's always a question of who you're pitching to
This man has become the budget summoning salt and I am all for it!
Nice video :D
Commenting for the algorithm. Great vid!
1:32 9m 11s
I used to be a recocord holding speedrunner, now doing sports and work etc.
EPIC VID
How can you finish the game with 0 stars?
You need to grab a big star to finish the game 🤔
It doesn’t count towards the total
bro is NOT summoning salt. (FIRE VIDEO Keep it UP!)
Great vid 👍
Excellent - thank you
Bro is summoning sugar
Nah jk nice video😂
what the hell song is playing at 16:59, my heart is literally jumping out of my body listening to it ..
Yooo, huge fan. Song is Ivresse by Prism Age 💯❤
there's over 500 N64 zero-star runs if you count obsolete runs
6:01 that’s a terrible time for a world record. Reminds me of that tragedy
this vid a heater
It's amazing people are still finding reason to play a 28 year old game. Also, I always wondered if there was a way to break the endless staircase, and there is. I was kind of right about jumping backwards, back in the day.

Banger video
4:28 idk if this is some cruel joke or not but all 3 these shadows look exactly the same. I camt spot a single difference lol
it's so precise it's hard to tell, really shows just how hard it actually is
Yea I'd hate to have to try to figure that out in real time. I'll stick to 120 lol. I'll lave this one to the zoomers
You can also see Mario's left hand against the white texture of the bottom left of the door. It gets more spaced out.
love you trey
Would be crazy to see sub 6 minutes.
Wait they call the trick he did 0 cycle and that’s the trick? What moves are involved for 0 cycle?
basically just tighter movement on every single part of the stage. i guess it's less of a trick and more of just a strategy but it's a timesave nonetheless.
Can you BLJ through the 8 star door? Instead of exit
yo they went fast isnt that nutty
Its actually insane brah
Fr fax
good video dude....
TAKA WAS JAPANESE AND GOT A 9:11😭😭
W video
I CANT EVEN FATHOM U CUTTING OFF THE GREAT SUIGI LMAO
With the time of 9 11 got me dying💀
same
what is that bootleg walmart version of summoning salt's theme song at the end
remix of we're finally landing, better then home IMO. song is called We're Finally Speedrunning. if you watched salt's tetris video he uses it at the end. the reason that version of the song exists is because We're Finally Landing has been having some copyright issues
✅I believe Siglemic was the very first to be the one to try the attempt of speedrun 🤔 #GreetingsFromPhillipines 🇵🇭
Imo 50 star should be moved to the main category list
banger
im eating kfc while I watch this video
Well well well
378 speed
nice video, would love to see you doing a nsmbw any% one
maybe....
0:09 respectively?😅
yeah?
💯💯💯
Summoning Salt like thumbnail
heavily inspired by him lmao
I think that 0 Star is 1 Star cuz of bowser's Star
That doesn't count the game ends when you get the star
Do "the history of the legend of zelda: Ocarina of time speedruns." Please! Or do Majora s mask please!
any specific category you'd like to see covered?
@@remedy64 any catagory is fine, mainly any%
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
No Cjrokokomero mention smh
He never got the record, he did however choke a 6:19 (I think) to throws
Greensuigis WR got DESTROYED. (his 70 star WR that is)
i believe "Xiah" is meant to be pronounced as "Shi-ah" instead of "zi-ah". nice video tho
people have been calling them zi ah for years lol
you might be right but its too late (and also i wouldnt know)
Those 5 categories are a bit weird imo. There should also be 50 and 31 categories. There's also technically a potential for 8/9 stars, but like if you're gonna sblj might as well lobby blj
50 and 31 star are category extensions, they're not interesting or unique enough to be main categories.
