This video is the one that actually got me to boot up the emulator and check this game out, and I didnt seem to run in any visual glitch like you did on that tower. I'd say it has more good things than bad things. I vibe with the gothic aesthetic, good soundtrack and the combat is pretty interesting. I don't have a lot of experience with the Castlevania series, so i don't know how the average game is supposed to feel like, but among the lesser known PS2 era action games i played so far, this seems to be one of the better ones The gameplay has some flaws but it’s been pretty fun, the Innocent devils are an interesting mechanic, always cool to see that no action game that uses summons or legions ever approach it the same way, every dev has their own take on the gameplay. I don't know if it takes inspiration from Chaos Legion, but Hector not relying as much on the devils for combos does make it more fun to use them. Having so many weapons is cool too. Love how unserious the game can get at times with the obsession with chairs and joke weapons, normalize beating up enemies with a frying pan! Hectors walk animation is so funny, like he just chillin, taking his time to get to the next area, enjoying the scenery, what a mood Also Isaac is an icon, greatest character in the series Are you gonna cover Sword of Etheria one day? I believe these games share some of the devs, would like to know your thoughts about it
@@kermitwithamustache3885 I have a strong suspicion that it was entirely me on that error. I play these ps2 games on a ps3 so there was most likely glitch bc of that. Oh yeah Most definitely I think the look, setting, story, characters. music especially are dem great! But weew man gameplay for me had neat ideas but just didn't click w me on how they used em or not used. Since enemies were so passive n lvls so samey it didn't give me much reason to use the mechanics. But for sure there's nothing wrong w a more chill game combat wise. Plus the game is easily more about the aesthetic n tone of its world without a doubt. Which is true about sotn too but that game also had fun movement haha Would've been cool to unlock some similar traversal abilities for faster movement like previous iga games. But yea I know I went into the combat only which is a HUGE disservice to the larger idea/appeal of this game but wish it was more engaging bc I want every CV game to be the best they can be
@@kermitwithamustache3885 Oh mostly definitely I'll check it out! Have it on the list but not sure how I'll fit it in somewhere. But we'll find a way we'll find a way
Read the manga if you want actual Curse of Darkness. The Netflix show is trash, but Konami doesn't care what happens to their IPs long as they get paid.
I did not expect this but I’m so excited for this overview!!! This game is so underrated. Truly the closest to the 2d metrovanias in vibe and gameplay the 3D games have ever been.
I def agree 64 is more of an actual castlevania game. I like both pretty equally. Curse of darkness is very aria of sorrow and Symphony of the night with the main characters and rpg system I think that’s why I genuinely enjoy it for the most part.
I think you should try Astlibra since you like RPG stuff mixed in your action games and you clearly want enemies that fight back. (Just don't start with the highest difficulty since enemies get stupidly tanky on there)
I'll check it out! Yea I can appreciate some rpg stuff mixed in. Oooh trust me I'm surprised too just how common rpg mechanics have been used this entire time - especially by the better games coincidently. So hey we gotta get used to it eventually haha
I'll probably check it out this October for some sorta horror theme. I've heard it's better than LoS1 tho but I've learned the hard way quite a few times that 3d castlevanias are hit or miss at best

Crazy how Hector in the show is a far cry from his original depiction in this game. Good thing animated Issac is such a well written character.

do you have plan to review castlevania lord of shadow series? the second instalment has great CAG element

I can see the first game, but the second was bad. I've almost erased if from memory.
What is the problem wit lament innocence ?
There isn’t one it just more like a classic Castlevania
You should look up the modded version of this. They've tweaked, added so much and the challenge is crazy.
