    I think the thing I like most about your reviews is that they are entirely factual- you’re not saying “this is too expensive etc.” Because everyone’s financial situation is different. You could be loaded and live full time in a caravan which means a $250 chair is not an issue. Whereas if you’re an apprentice who camps 3 times a year go and get a $15 2nd handy from Marketplace. But you’ll clearly show the pros and cons and what you’re getting for your extra money.
    And don’t worry I’ll keep loading you up with gear to review

    • @Camper_Guide
      @Camper_Guide  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I have a few camping set ups. My now "basic" set up has evolved to be less basic using an air swag (dometic pico 2x2) and an air gazebo (quest 3x3m) so it all fits in the boot of my little hatch daily driver. You can definitely camp out of a small car easily, just depends how much comfort you want as well.

    As someone who free camps all the time .. can I give you my thoughts ..
    Plug on the front of the fridge is handy .. plug in turn it on .. pull plug out turn it off .. easy peasy. There are a lot of options now with freeze dried food. Boil the kettle .. off you go. For a few days this works well and you don't need to carry crap loads of cooking stuff .. AND NO WASHING UP. Cheap 18v drill with a decent drill bit will help get those pegs into tough ground. Potato asparagus and steak .. faaark that is the best meal I can think of. Try hanging your headlamp around your neck .. it is a game changer for me when I'm cooking or trying to put something together and it doesn't give me a headache from being too tight. Great Chanel .. keep up the good work.

      Thanks for the comment! I agree with you i like the security of the poles. Also the awning doesn't need to be so heavily engineered so it's cheaper. And I don't think many people consider that your roof rack needs to be well rated for that extra force too!

    G'day Camper. Great to see you on tube again for another episode. Love how you have a no fuss experience out there. There's something comforting in having cereal out camping. I barely eat cereal at home but it's an easy go to when I'm out camping. My grandfather had the same Engel back in the 80s that eventually found its way to my dad before all 3 passed away from old age and a happy life. Now I have my own 80 litre Engel fridge that's probably overkill for the size but always gets filled up when I use it. Handy tip for fridges. If they seem to not be getting cold or not working too good. Empty it out and leave it upside down powered off for a couple of days. Helps to dry it out if any ice has built up around the fan and seems to help the motor out somehow. Cheers camper

    The manual grinding of coffee, plus brewing in an Aeropress, is one of my favourite camp rituals as well., only made better by boiling water on a campfire. Something that might be really interesting for the kings review might be figuring out if you started with a kings swag, add the cost of the seam sealer as per previous video and the a replacement/second mattress where it would match up cost and performance wise.
    E.G. a Darche Swag is currently $450 at BCF (as of 23/11/2024) but you could buy a kings swag with a bag for $108.95 (as of 23/11/2024), Seam grip for $18 (Tent world) and Darche's own mattress for $139.90 (Snowy's as of 23/11/2024). Putting the full cost in the ball park or $270, still heavily undercutting the $450 Darche by a 40% ($180)

    You sir, have provided me with a profound "NO WAY" moment.... Your AeroPress technique has caused me a rethink around the abandonment of their use, after wearing 3 of them out, in favour of a Moka Pot. The burnt steamed fingers when trying to insert the plunger with it sitting on top of a cup had always irked me. Hallelujah....enlightenment.....Thankyou.

    • @Camper_Guide
      @Camper_Guide  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      haha I don't even remember where I picked this technique up! But I started doing it because I found most of the coffee had just dribbled through before I could get the plunger in.
      I guess the only thing now to worry about is how it's more top heavy and therefor should be easier to knock over, although in the 5 years I've been doing it I haven't knocked it over once.

    In my experience, without any form of insulation beneath the swag you will often get condensation on the bottom of the mattress when it's on a stretcher. The padding on that stretcher would certainly help to keep the swag floor from becoming cold and condensation forming.
    My stretcher has no padding and I often fond the bottom of the mattress would be damp in the morning, despit having a lot of air flow through the swag. No condensation anywhere else. So I put a yoga mat on top of the stretcher to keep the cold air away from the base. So far it has done the trick, but I'm yet to try it out again in really cold (well.... "Australia cold") weather.

    My fav meal when camping is 2 min noodles with jerky and a tin of peas/corn thrown in, but it's how it's done that is different. You boil water and soak the noodles and jerky (don't put the seasonings in from the noodle pack). Once the noodles are soft how you like them, strain and throw in pan with butter. Strain peas/corn and throw them in too. Turn on the pan and fry whilst adding the 2 min noodle seasoning pack. Bloody yum. If you like things spicy, get chilli jerky and use that :-)

    I also have an Engel fridge I bought in the early eighties and it has been running non stop as a beer fridge or a freezer for around 37 years although it was battling today with 45 degrees. Normally around minus 18 degrees and just noticed it is only at minus 4 degrees, it was a hot one.

    When I camp, I focus on Optimizing. I most enjoy outdoor experiences that give me comforts similar to my suburban house; and do it with the least weight and volume of gear. I like simple, durable, compact, light-weight, multi-purpose items; and I'm asking if you and other folks in AUS offer camp gear that we in USA have not seen or contemplated. One of my favorite features of the YT channel, "Welcome To The Outdoors", are kit from AUS, NZ and CAN. Please share unique items from your part of the world; wholly new items or modifications of established items. ~ Steven, Utah

    In my opinion, If you find a nice product you really think is cool and useful. And request from the manufacturer to give you one for a positive review. That's fine as long as you pick the product you want to show to the audience. And everyone is happy!

    To be honest, i dont think I'd mind if you were given kit to review. As long as it's fair and balanced, pros and cons list as you always do.
    If you're given equipment but aren't tied to solely positive review, unless it is that good !!
    No reason you can't make a bit of money out of this. Buying equipment is a costly exercise, and borrowing has it's limits.
    Edited, the Kids were annoying me and now I have some quiet time!
    Fixed some spelling and expanded my comment. Keep up the good work 👍

      @Camping_reviews lol yep sorry about that. Next time i'm in SCA i'll have a nosey for the shipping weight on the box. If it doesnt weight a tonne/comes in reasonably light, hard to argue with $450 sale price 😮

    I don't rate the Engel. We had them in our vehicles when I was in the Army. They kept having issues with the 12/240 v systems.
    Had a Waeco for over 20 years. Done some tough trips. Never had a single problem.

      The army is certainly a good test for a fridge too, thanks for the info! We were a bit concerned getting a Waeco because at the time we heard a lot of tales of them failing. But we've had one going strong in our camper trailer for 8 years now

      Hey mate! Thanks for the comment! I have an older TH-cam account which I was able to shout this one out on so that got me my first 1000 subs overnight. Beyond that consistent uploads, following a strict format, and thorough research and scripting have played a big part. Getting thumbnails consistent and good titles, also important and I continually change, update, and test those for best performance.
