I repaired my wall mounted garden hose reel using a similar method. A replacement would have cost me £60.00 and I repaired it for £5.00. So although Gaus DIY demonstrated the method on a cheap step, the process is useful to remember for more expensive items. 👍
The true silliness.... is how many people prove themselves to be wasteful minded right here in the comments. It's not about buying a new one.... just don't be wasteful.
Nice job. 👍🏿. Thanks for sharing. Btw, what is the name of the silver tape that you used? Btw, should I let the 1st layer of glue & baking soda dry before applying the 2nd layer?
If anyone tries this be sure to do the best you can to clean any and all grease like substances off of the repair area. You'll find it will adhere better and last longer on a clean semi rough surface. You can also look on the damaged item for the recycling code to get an idea of the type of plastic it is made of them find the similar material and weld it in place. The soda glue thing works but it isn't flexible . It tends to be quite brittle.
@@latachandran0303 a real one. You know that tiny assed step for a garden gnome got broke by rajish standing on it trying to grab a vat o curry from the top shelf.
In my area you can buy super glue at the dollar store. It comes in small tubes with liquid or gel. Now it also comes in tubes with a brush. Also available at the dollar store are lots of things out of plastic and metal that can be bought cheaply and used for plastic repairs.
I bought some bags of paper clips large and small from the dollar store. I think a small paper clip is better suited for repairing cracks - more rigid. For other areas you can use a big paper clip and unfold it. Then shape it into any desired shape you want. I would have placed the screen on the underside of the chair - it is less visible there.
Cost of super glue, soldering tool, sandpaper, etc. something to consider. If you're in a place or situation where you need to do extensive repair work to a $4 stool, you're also not likely to have on hand all these other things. (Unless you have a repair shop and that's your job or how you keep your community thriving when there are few resources. Still, interesting.
It is very easy. From inside fix a plastic slate frame from bangarwala. Another is buy a tray. Fix it on top. Another fix a plywood inside. Use pavda handle and fix 4 legs from the plywood. Top you can use just glue and a plastic mica sheet laminate
Plastic is mostly oil based, and breaks down into damagingly small particles when dumped. These particles are now getting into our water supply, etc and damaging our health, and that of animals, birds, etc. Repair and reuse is much better all round.
You're missing the point. The cheap chair is just an example, this technique can be used for all sorts of things that are difficult or expensive to replace.

Thank you Bro!
Love the effort to repair and re-use rather than accept "throw away and buy new". Well done.
This chair obviously had great sentimental value!
A lot of work but nice job it looks perfect like brand new. 👌
All i can say is thank you, even my sons will learn so much from here
Thank You So Much!
Nice to see you recycle and are not contibuting to land fills-we have to take care of our waste-we have no other planet to live on..bravo!😊😊😊
Yes, thanks Bro! ❤️❤️
Thanks for this tip because I know it will come in handy for other future repairs. 👍👍🏿

I totally agree with you. From Cyprus

Thanks. Also, do you know the name of the tape he used?
great idea. dont know what you poured onto (what i think was either baking powder or sugar), but it worked.
Yes, you are right. It's baking soda powder
Nice ❤❤

Puede ser la explicación en Español, gracias
I am from Indonesia. Could we use epoxy adhesives instead of super glue and baking soda?

Hello, Nice to meet you!
Nice
Thank You
Which type of powder,please?
I have the exact same step stool that I bought at Dollar Tree for $1. This seems like a lot to fix a $1 step stool but thanks.
Its not about the item thats fixed, its about the proces
Yeah things made nowadays may look similar to the old time ones, but they are made cheap and don’t last.

A lot of work to save a couple dollars on that stepping stool
Is it ok to use uhu glue?
I saw your glue is a bit thin.

Hi Bro! Nice to meet you!
What's the white pounder

DEL POLVO QUE USA NO APARECE EL NOMBRE SOLO DEL PEGAMENTO
Si, c'est du bicarbonate de soude
That's a lot of work for something you can buy at the dollar store LOL - Looks good though!!
¡Gracias! ¡Eres maravilloso!
Resourcefulness...
Thank you!
BUY A NEW ONE !! ;)
You don't need brain skill for that
👍🏻 😂

Lol I was thinking the same thing
Great
Thank!
With your technique i bond broken plastic armrest from office chair, very strong bond tomorrow sanding etc thanks
Ese polvo es bicarbonato de sodio amigo
Good to show for repairing other things. Not worth it for a dollar store plastic chair. Most people don't have all those things in their home.
The powder doesnt look like baking soda. Looks and sounds (when scraped) like sugar. Weird.

Pegamento, pintura, resina, lijas, malla, tiempo...
The name of both chemical and liquid are not disclosed.
It's generic superglue and baking soda. There are all sorts of uses for the combination to fix plastics.
Not worth the bother. A new one saves time and money.
Yeah they are very cheap…but yourself a new one!!
Where is the fun in that ? Learn how to be creative and constructive you will save a lot of money that way .
Comunque like per l'impegno.
It surely has to be cheaper and less time consuming and more attractive to purchase another. TOTAL FALSE ECONOMY
