Bad advice. Don't change secure boot to disabled from enabled. If you do, then bitlocker kicks in and you will have to have a password to proceed or to disable bitlocker. If you don't have that special password or you cannot (or do not know how to) disable bitlocker, then you will need to reenable secure boot (just wasting time). In the end, I fidgeted with several repair options to know apparent avail and then restarted the computer when a windows 10 update went through and amazingly the computer worked with the hard drive not detected. This is the second time in one year I experienced a supposed hard drive "failure." This laptop is less than one year old. I have a rescue flash disk but it was not detected; rescue flash disk, however, was not needed in the end. However, I am afraid to turn off or restart this HP Envy-13-aq1013dx W10 machine now for fear that I will get another false hard drive failure message. I would recommend not buying this HP model and, personally, I would think twice before buying any other HP laptop.

Putting a hard drive in from the other computer might give you the same error if it has a different set up. You would have to install it and then reinstall the operating system. Hi. I have faced same issue. I have HP Pavilion x360 14ba073tx. Suddenly the SSD is not detected. I did all bios setting combinations and even reset the HP security codes, reset the default bios settings etc but in vain. I thought SSD is bad but it's working when connected through external case through USB. Interestingly, my earlier original HDD that came with laptop is also not detected. Now in this case I see either cable issue or some motherboard. Am I right?
Does it say the HDD / SSD is not detected at start up or when you run the diagnostic? Because if it starts to boot and then says "Hard not detected" that does not necessarily a problem with the HDD or motherboard. It just means the computer can't find what it needs to boot. What happens when you run the diagnostic? Does the SSD pass?
Hi. did you fix the problem with your laptop? I have exactly the same issue.. I tried with more than 3 hard disk, but nothings happened. Please share your solution..
@@EggheadFixers you are right.. it used to show at the start up itself.. error code 03F.. HDD (SSD) not found.. I tried to connect to other laptop externally and it worked so deduced that my SSD or earlier HDD is not the issue.. then tried to connect it to same laptop but using external USB connector and it worked but couldn't install any OS into it.. by doing so I realised problem is neither with SSD nor with laptop motherboard.. else, it would have not worked for usb..
@@pddurango pls read above reply.. it's in continuation.. then the question remained why it is not working.. either SATA port on the motherboard is blown or the cable is.. but usually SATA port will not get blown unless there is physical damage due to blown parts near it.. reasons may be water/moisture seepage, high voltage etc. So I opened the laptop fully and checked using magnifying glass.. there was no damage.. had it been damaged I had alternate plan to use M.2 SATA port which is unoccupied as I was using 2.5 inch SSD in place of original SSHD which came with laptop.. But then this 1TB 2.5" SSD would have become idle and had to buy M.2 SSD.. then thought it's for around 120USD.. which is last option.. So, thought straight away buy cable which usually costs around 14-15USD on Amazon/e-bay.. but it was shipping from US & would have take 25 days to reach India.. so went ahead purchased from local store at 16-17 USD.. put it in place of earlier one but still was getting 03F code.. at one point thought its a waste of time & 17USD.. once again checked, shown same error.. but this time decided to use HP diagnostic & done quick check.. it was running.. it was a ray of hope.. so simply connected Windows startup media USB and straightaway started installation.. and viola.. my 2.5" SSD is detected by installer..! Incase your SSD still does not gets detected at this stage then you can change the BIOS setting from legacy to UEFI or vice versa and then run HP diagnostic.. if quick test runs, your HDD/SSD is detected & go ahead with Installation.. I'm grateful to those who have put related videos.. though they were not the straight solutions, it gave some idea to what to look for.. finally learnt a lesson.. you should also do something.. everything can't be spoonfed.. ;)

Hi, my HP Pavillion 15-cc laptop got the Boot Device message. I tried a lot of ideas from other TH-camrs but they did not work. I also tried taking out my hard drive and replacing it with my other computer's hard drive and it still did not work. Do you think it could be the SATA ribbon connector thing that the hard drive plugs into? This whole thing happened when my battery went dead during an update. Afterward, it keeps showing the boot message. I tried the UEFI enable/disable and the legacy boot enable/disable. Any ideas?
Putting a hard drive in from the other computer might give you the same error if it has a different set up. You would have to install it and then reinstall the operating system. What happens when you run the diagnostic? Does it see the hard drive as being installed? Because if it still detects the hard drive then it's most likely not an issue with the cable or port.

Is the boot order set in the correct order? The primary hard drive with the OS needs to be set first in the boot order.

I'm grateful to those who have put related videos.. though they were not the straight solutions, it gave some idea to what to look for.. finally learnt a lesson.. you should also do something.. everything can't be spoonfed.. ;)

Any kind of help is highly appreciated thank you!!
So you put in the new drive, installed the operating system and now it has stopped working. Correct? Is the SSD set first in the boot order in BIOS? Also if it Windows 10 is it set on UEFI with Secure Boot On in BIOS?
