He’s not accountable, but he is still adamant after SEVERAL autopsies from the foremost coroners in the country that she wasn’t drunk. It’s really very simple, she was a secret drinker. I guarantee she was feeling some detox symptoms so she drank to take care of that. If you watch the documentary about this, it’s the most frustrating thing on Earth. That’s why he’s getting crap for this.
Mystical Kumquat When a man says he’s upset because his son didn’t die and he has to take care of him, he deserves the third degree. The man is disgusting even tried to sue his brother in law.
My sister forced me to watch this doc when it came out because she was absolutely obsessed with what happened. I finished the doc and was so confused, asked her if I had missed something. She was like “it’s just so MyStErIoUs!” No? It isn’t? This is a family that can’t cope with the fact that their loved one isn’t exactly who they thought she was. She did a horrible thing but it’s worse that her family is more concerned with defending her honor than letting the victims’ families have any amount of peace.
Her family were the main victims. The Hansen family were part of Diane’s family, too. Do you think his brother and sister-in-law missed all of the drinking too and allowed their three girls to be murdered? Everyone was shocked. No way. I had been complaining about tooth pain for years since 2007 and a dentist gave me an emergency root canal even though they saw no evidence of cavities. I still felt pain. They recently found the nerve had regrown or wandered and needed to be removed. I had to see a special endodontic dentist. It can be extremely painful and easy to detect.
@katystrawberry8654 have you ever had to deal with severe dental abcesses that you don't have medication for? They can and will cause very bad confusion, dizziness etc. And believe me because I've been there, you will absolutely go to extreme lengths for relief even if it means drinking and driving.
She wrote a book and she couldn’t get out of bed for months. Her husband lost his sister, niece and his kids. Plus his sister was drunk. The book is a tough read but worth it. Called I”II See You Again. So happy this special baby doctor helped her get pregnant for free. And they have a little girl.
That’s exactly what I was thinking, how could you go on when you tragically lose all of your children? I couldn’t do it. She is a very very very strong woman!
@@Bella-ht5jb9he3z I agree with Angel; thank you for the info about the book. I'm an avid reader so I will definitely be checking that out. It is so incredibly sad for all of the family members involved. I can't even begin to imagine what they must have gone through at the time and still undoubtedly go through each and every day. Losing 1 child would be devastating but 3?? Beyond heartbreaking. Thank you again for the info on the book.
I just so feel horrible for the parents who lost all three of their kids, and the little girl who will grow up knowing she has three older siblings in heaven. 😔

abigail nicole that new baby will forever live in the shadow and trauma of what her parents went through. It’s not her parents fault of course but it’s the truth. She will bring them joy at times but the parents will never be the same ever again after losing their three daughters

Their families are left without answer and you might be able to help. Please this would mean a lot and could help tremendously. Edit: Can you guys plz like this so that she can see it?
I know that this video is two years old, but I had to comment. I saw this documentary almost three years ago and it's the reason I got sober. I saw a lot of similarities between her and I and I didn't want my life to end in the same way.
Congratulations on your sobriety!! I am 8 months sober myself. It's really a tragic situation that could have been avoided. Aunt Diane got blackout drunk and caused the accident that destroyed lives. I have been blackout drunk and done and said things that I Absolutely Do Not Remember, so yes its possible to function in a blackout. It scares me to think that I could have been Aunt Diane.
@@philfallacci4833 But it seems like she fine when they got in. At least, that’s what I’m hypothesizing based on what was told. It seems she became erratic on the road, and there’s really no place to go when you’re on the road. This whole situation is just so confusing
@@philfallacci4833 and what could they have done differently? They were eight and nine years old.. this is a parent and an aunt to them. Refuse to go? They did what they were supposed to do they called somebody no one did anything about it no one stopped it.. that's the sad fact of it that no one did anything and come and get her. Not dishing out personal problems here but I have had to intervene before when someone needed help. That was physically going and picking that person up so that they didn't do something like this. But you're talking about very young children that don't know what to do.. the only thing that could have done beyond that is try to escape the car on a highway maybe even an interstate not knowing where, maybe try to flag someone down? Again we're talking about an interstate or a main Highway. Well maybe not everyone was going 70 or 80 miles per hour it's a good bet that they were going too fast for children to be out trying to get someone to stop for them. If I were 8 to 9 years old the cars would be more terrifying then an aunt acting erratically.
And then she threw the phone out? And why wouldn't she just pull over and call her husband if she's so sick. Something really strange happened in her head.
Made me cry because I am an aunt of over 25 children and I could never ever imagine putting their lives in jeopardy. I'm in my most sober times when I'm with them and I'm thankful for that. RIP to All those Children 🕊🌺
The kid who survived, i can't imagine the trauma he's been made to live with. I think he's the only one who could say if Diane seemed mentally present or not, but i'm not sure it would be worth it to make him re-live it.
@@crystalkirby6982 the only reason he'd have to not remember is his own brain protecting him, its a myth that anyone can be ''too young'' to remember something, especially with how we're wired to prioritised any information that threatens our survival.
In the HBO documentary he said something like"mommy couldn't see and I went flying like Superman" he wasn't ejected from the vehicle, he was on the floor in the backseat and his dead cousins were on top of him.
She was witnessed throwing up on 2 separate occasions.... There was a bottle of vodka in the driver's seat. Her blood levels proved she was intoxicated. She was OBVIOUSLY drinking and driving. Most the time the simplest explanation is the right explanation.
Yeah for sure! And she has a hangover soooo that's why she stopped for medicine. Then figured if she ate something that might help, and got McDonald's. Drank some more cuz eating made her sober and it was early as all hell. And then possibly blacked out. Resulting in the driving the wrong way. And why she wasn't Turning or anything. She wasn't conscious (blacked out) but conscious enough to stay on the road.
Nicole Erskine But 1.7 mi? Alcohol gives you delayed reaction and not no reaction. Also, If she was drunk, wouldn’t she be swerving not straight down ?
But if she intoxicated why did she drive straight. No one with that much alcohol can drive that straight. Also wouldn’t the Aunt have heard if she sounded drunk.
Also the sole survivor Diane’s son Bryan is around 15 or 16 now..I’m curious what he has to say.. if he has any memory of what was going on inside the van
Kellie Collins It’d be interesting but he was young, and not to mention went through a lot after it so the memory might have been faded and even if it wasn’t I’d doubt he’d want to remember it
I’m curious to know. Usually the brain blocks out traumatic experiences as much as possible, but not always. It’d be interesting to see his take on the whole situation, especially since it was a first-hand experience.
I am 17 years sober and I was a high functional alcoholic. I truly believe she was hangover from night before and quite often a person will drunk to feel better or normal. "The hair from dog" cliché. People can appear normal and Diane Schuelker went into a blackout, and that's the final state she was in.
But alcolevels increase upon death. They said the vodka was in the back of the van in a box. There is more to this. Much better info on 48 hours or dateline. Wherever she got this info, half is not correct. The police report use to be available online.
@@beckyjbarker She still had the equivalent of at least five unmetabolized drinks in her stomach. This was binging. The accident could have caused the location of the alcohol/box to shift. In any case, there is ample evidence of her stopping multiple times, during which she could have refilled her orange juice and coffee cups (and probably did).
I too wondered whether she was nursing a hangover, and whether that was the possible reason for her agitation and alleged search for analgesics. It's also possible the trip inside the gas station was to see whether they sold hard liquor, and the request for Tylenol was a ruse for the clerk once Diane determined her beverage of choice was not sold there (thus meaning she would need to resort to the vodka packed in the van). We will never know what her motivation was.
Kendall, Can you please do a video on the case of Asunta Basterro? It's a murder case of a little girl who was adopted by a Spanish couple and on 2013 she was found dead on a road in Spain. The evidence is very messy and the two parents are in jail claiming to be innocent.
there is this thing called trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve in the face. It's most common in women over age 50 Symptoms range from mild to severe facial pain, often triggered by chewing, speaking, or brushing the teeth. Reason i’m bringing this up is because it might explain why her friend thought she had a tooth ache but they found nothing wrong with her tooth!!! My mom found out she had trigeminal neuralgia at 40 and before she knew what it was she just thought it was a really bad tooth ache. Trigeminal neuralgia is often called the ‘suicide disease’ because the pains can get so bad you can’t stand them. I feel like Diane could have possibly had this and been trying to cope with all the pain that day. Her stopping to get pain medication makes a lot of sense and when she found out they didn’t have any she probably went with the only thing she could to escape the pain. (these pains are known to drive people to kill themselves) Whether she was high or drunk it was not the responsible thing to do but this might explain some things
wow2283 my mom has known she had it for about 4 years and about a year ago she had brain surgery that has helped with the pain tremendously, she rarely has any!!! sadly the surgery help will apparently only last 2 years but she plans on doing the surgery if the pains come back. wishing you the best and hope you find a good way to cope with the pain!!!!
Ooh this is really interesting! Regardless of where her pain came from, either physical or physiological, it must have been so bad that she completely lost sight of what was responsible or reasonable to do. Sometimes when you're in pain this bad (like what you mentioned) you'll forget everything that's going on around you and get tunnel vision. She honestly was probably in so much pain (and trying to ease the pain by using weed/alcohol) that she may have forgotten the kids were even there. Or, the kids were freaking out, which made her pain worse, and she literally just went crazy from everything going on. Everyone said she looked 'normal' while driving, but she probably actually just snapped from pain/sensory overload and went into a different state altogether. That might explain her inability to consider the kids and other cars around her. It may also explain how she was unable to articulate over the phone that she wasn't doing okay, her body was compartmentalizing to deal with the pain. Obviously, I'm not a dr. so I really have no idea, but I think this 'suicide disease' explanation is better than a tooth abscess (which wasn't found) or being a drunk (which was out of character).
A few things that come to mind as a paramedic listening to this story: 1) when they said she was in pain my immediate thought was stroke or some sort of seizure 2) The blood alcohol level, and that early in the morning, leads me to believe that she was drunk &/or an alcoholic 3) chronic alcoholism puts you at higher risk for spontaneous bleeding -- like in your brain. Bleeding in the brain is called a hemorrhagic stroke. Strokes can cause severe headaches, vision changes, nausea & vomiting, and altered mental status 4) An accident that severe I can see it being difficult to tell if the bleeding was present prior to the accident, or because of it. However, I'm not a doctor. Just some thoughts. Just, don't drink and drive y'all.
I think she was experiencing pain wether it be from her tooth or jaw or possibly a major headache or something and when she stopped to try and get pain medication from the gas station and couldn’t get any I think she resorted to drinking the vodka in the car thinking it’ll help with the severe pain she was experiencing but unfortunately it resulted in her loosing control and killing 8 people (including herself). I don’t know why she just didn’t pull over and wait for her brother to come to her. All this could of been avoided.
@@honeychelles83 this is the most plausible to me. she was in some kind of pain that kept escalating. she couldn't control the pain with meds and eventually became delirious and desperate. she drank alcohol thinking it would stop the pain. by the time she felt her pain decrease she was drunk. she wasn't in her right mind. that's why she didn't stop and ask for help. that's why she drank alcohol. that's why she went the wrong way on the highway. maybe originally she thought she could handle it and could get through. although - what kind of medication was she seeking? i know that if i'm in pain and the place doesn't have what i want, i'll buy a substitute. lots of pain meds have generic substitutions. the other thing too - i wonder if her meal had anything to do with the pain.
It’s difficult to reconcile the toxicology findings with who Diane was as a person. But both can be true. She could’ve been a wonderful mother, wife, aunt, sister, and friend, who was privately suffering from a serious addiction. That’s another sad aspect of this tragedy - had her friends and family known about her struggle, they could’ve gotten her help and potentially prevented this from occurring. She clearly had a very loving family and it’s so unfortunate that her own self-shame prevented her from reaching out to them for help. May God bless everyone who lost their lives that day.
I agree that she was likely privately struggling with addiction. If you’re someone who grew up taking care of everyone (as I know the documentary touches on her “doing everything” in the house after her mother left and her being the one to take care of her family), it’s likely that you probably wouldn’t feel like you could come forward and talk about the issues that you’re having and that you’d just try to handle it on your own
I firmly believe that she had the disease that Kendall mentioned. I watched another video of a woman who had the same amount of alcohol in her system, and they did tests on here and found out she suffered from that disease. We don't know what Diane ate that morning. The fact that she was throwing up definitely could be her body trying to get rid of the alcohol it had produced in her body. May they all Rest in Peace with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and I hope the families have been healing from this.
She wasn't drinking. Alcohol levels increase with or without alcohol after death. And they can by a lot. If she drank the night before it would be even higher. But with no alcohol it can be this- the postmortem BACs were higher than the antemortem BACs by an average of 0.06 g/dL, ranging from a BAC difference of an increase of 0.01 g/dL to 0.16 g/dL
This one hits a little close to home. When I was a kid I was in the car with my dad who was drunk or high and driving like a maniac. I was terrified and even being so young I knew I needed to get out of the situation, so I told him I had to pee and we went to a gas station, where I locked myself in the bathroom and wouldn't come out. He got the store manager involved to unlock the door and I told the manager what was going on. He called the police who took me back to my mom's house. Never saw or heard from my dad again.
Scared cause someone was driving fast? I have both of my parents who were street racers and this comment just sounds super idiotic to me, Everyone at street races all also either drunk or high and everyone is fine.
@@TwBelgi78 No, he was swerving all over the place and driving on the sidewalk as well. Calling my comment about a frightening thing that happened to me as a child "super idiotic" is pretty rude. Especially when you have no idea what you're talking about.
"Who starts their day with getting drunk??" - Actually, it's a sure sign of someone being an alcoholic. I myself haven't done that a lot, but sometimes it seems the only logical thing to do, especially when you're depressed, under a lot of stress, or still drunk from the night before. So, I'm not really surprised Diane could've begun drinking that day as early as 7 a.m. and kept doing it until her final moments.
Alcoholics wake up in withdrawal literally from not drinking because they were asleep. They'll drink anything with alcoholic content (also known as "hair of the dog") to prevent shaking, nausea, headaches, etc. Even if it didn't get them drunk, they drink as soon as they get up just to keep from getting sick.
The more I've looked into what her life was like, the less surprising it is. Anyone who knows anything about addiction knows that this is a cut and dry case. I think people look for alternative explanations because the truth-- that a "good person" could have had these kind of demons-- is horrifying.
This is absolutely correct and what ended my marriage. I just couldn't anymore. Up and getting drunk at 7am? I tried everything. There was no helping him. He didn't want to help himself.
I’m a recovering addict. We can hide it from everyone. And unfortunately you do it even when you know it’s wrong. The addiction is stronger than you often.
But can you hide it from a medical examiner looking at your liver and seeing no signs of chronic abuse? I figured she was an alcoholic and her family was in denial initially, but if she was that deep into addiction, her organs should show some signs.
@@SL-ul3yr She was talking about family, friends, etc... not the medical examiner bc they will know.. I do think he family is in denial. So sad for the kids to be put in that position.
If she was a secret alcolic then she would surely be very used to alcohol and its effects and would therefore probably be aware that she driving on the wrong side of the road etc... This is such a strange case :-( Congrats on your newfound health x
@@keyboardtypes8067 she attempted it once before she did it. That's why the 35 minute drive took 4 and a half hours. Also the meal choices for the kids were like she knee it was their last meal. Then she left her phone on the highway after the kids tried to call for help.
Some people claimed that she had problems sleeping and would take ambien. That has wicked side effects, that mixed with alcohol could have caused everything that happened.

Brave and beautiful that the family that lost their girls were able to have another. I don't think I'd be able to muster up enough optimism to do so after such a horrible loss.
I saw this woman on Oprah, and she said that she was even discussing having a suicide agreement with her husband so that one of them could be with the girls. Then I read that she ended up having a very vivid dream where she was in heaven, and her three daughters greeted her at the gates. They were happy and fine, and they told her that she couldn’t come to see them yet, as she still had things to do on Earth. I believe they may have even referenced there being another baby, but I’m not sure. Anyway, after that is when she had her 4th daughter. I find this woman’s tragedy to be very awe-inspiring and a true testament to how there is more, even after the absolute worst nightmare loss you can imagine.
EDIT: before anyone else says it again - I think, regardless of what happened and even if this theory holds up, that what she did was wrong. I thought that went without saying. I also don't think she called for help because 1) she left her phone on the highway and 2) she seems like a woman who was constantly in control, put together and well prepared. I think it was her pride that stopped her being responsible her and she's totally at fault for that. When her son said later 'Mommy's head hurt and she couldn't see', I think that points fairly strongly to a severe migraine. I know she asked for Tylenol at the gas station. It would also explain the vomiting on the side of the road and her not being able to see. I think she was definitely suffering with a severe migraine that was making her extremely ill and impaired her vision and senses. If the pain became extremely bad and she was panicking that it was getting worse as she was driving but couldn't see, she might have grabbed the alcohol hoping it would help as a last resort if nothing else was within reaching distance, and hoping it would stop or dull the pain. I definitely don't get the vibe that she would purposely set out with all of the kids in the car knowing she was going to drink en route, or even think about it. I really think that she was in such an extreme level of pain and panic that she was bulldozing through the oncoming traffic (maybe not knowing it was oncoming due to vision impairment) and just driving in a straight line to the best of her memory in order to get home or off the highway as soon as possible.
@@blubell24 apparently she smoked often so she likely did the night before and the morning of, but it wouldn't cause her to drive like that IMO so I didn't include that as a major factor
Sounds like A LOT of people called the police at various times throughout this ordeal, giving the car's location and likely offering a description of it. How did the cops not arrive before the accident? Reckless driving like that they should have arrived much, much sooner.
Bethany sometimes officers are not close by. Someone called in an intoxicated driver and I was far enough away it took 10 minutes to get to the location. Troopers, deputies and officers cover a lot of area. Put the blame where it belongs. With the drunk mother behind the wheel
I’ve driven on the Taconic many times and there are some parts that are the middle of nowhere. It’s not the main route either, it’s a parkway, so no heavy truck traffic. It’s so slow on some parts there are stop signs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a police car driving on it. Can’t blame the police for everything, and I honestly don’t see a way for them to safely intervene in the situation.
If she was going 85mph for 1.8 miles in the wrong direction, how can cops get there that fast? The initial calls, Diane was going in the correct direction, got off and then went back on going the wrong way. Cops are only human, they can’t fly and pick up cars like Superman.
candle jenner it takes time to drive somewhere especially if they aren’t in the area and this woman is hitting 85. not everything is the polices fault. as an officer said up there ^ they try but sometimes they are too far away and the blame isn’t on them it’s on the woman behind the wheel. plus if they did get there sooner not much they could do she still could’ve wrecked. the only thing they could really do at that point is block her off or put spikes in the road. but that’s also on a HIGHWAY with other car and children in the back.
There is a woman who lost all 3 of her children right before Halloween 3 years ago I think. Bc of a young idiot but sober driver who flew past a school bus on a rural road. I think of her every year. I dont know how she carries on.
Even though the autopsy showed no signs of cirrhosis of the liver she could still have been a heavy drinker- she was only in her 30s and cirrhosis doesn't appear immediately.
thats what i was saying!! being drunk impairs your reflexes and decision making but it doesn't entirely warp your perception to think that directions are switched around, and especially wouldn't be likely to have that effect considering how low her blood alcohol levels were. it just doesn't make sense and people writing it off as her "just being drunk" doesn't sit well with me
merge m8 nope. My mother can be blind drunk, and drive like a dream. My mother is a functioning alcoholic. Holds down an executive position. No one knows. They’re incredibly secretive. I know, and after YEARS of it....I’ve had enough. I don’t speak to her anymore.

He is keeping quiet about how much his wife had to drink. He doesn't want the title of a wife who was a drunk driver who killed others while on a bender. I recently had a tooth ache in my wisdom tooth, and omg it is the worst thing ever. I took prescribed pain meds but it wouldn't stop, I actually wanted a glass of wine to just stop the burning pain, but obviously didn't drink it. So I can understand the pain being so bad that you will do anything to stop it, and especially her being so afraid of dentists, she probably drank and smoke a little on the side when the pain got so bad. Probably why she didn't have any pain meds with her and had to stop, she knew the pain would go with a drink and a smoke. She wasn't tilting her head because she was throwing up in the car, she was tilting her head to hide the drink or smoke.
I think he knows she was a “closet alcoholic” But doesnt want to admit it because that would make him guilty too since he knew she was drinking and driving

I’m convinced that the wife had been drinking. However, how much control do you have over another person’s actions? Sure, if you’re present when someone is drinking, you can take away their keys. Recent lawsuits have shown that the party host will be held liable for damages if someone drinks and drives after leaving their venue. But, what if you weren’t home? Wife decides to drink and drive while you’re at work, or in anyway off the property, how do you have any control over that? If the wife was secretly drinking, how are you in control over that? While suing the state for damaged roads or whatever is dumb, I feel like this was just a natural reaction to getting sued over the actions of another person. The husband was victimized here too, and getting sued by another victim just revictimized him again. The plaintiff would also be revictimized by the event by taking the case to trial. Nobody wins, except for maybe the lawyers involved. The whole situation sucks, and I don’t know what the solution would be.
Amen to that. It’s shocking what we’re capable of. I refused to learn to drive until was 9 years sober because as a kid my mom drove drunk with us kids and I didn’t ever want to do that.
@@veganaise2383 easier said than done, also someone has to come to the realization that that is the problem. As someone with 26 years sober I obviously agree that someone whose drinking is causing that much harm to themselves and others should get sober, but “just don’t drink”is kind of a funny thing to say to an alcoholic. The problem is how hard it is not to drink. If it wasn’t hard the person wouldn’t be an alcoholic.
It saddens me some of the children died and the lone surviving child suffers from a lifelong disability. May the spirits of the dead children rest in peace and the surviving child find peace within himself.
I’ve looked into this ALOT I really believe Diane was a drinker. Closeted. Her husband didn’t seem like the most active family member. She took care of him and was the kids while working full time. I think she drank regularly. I think there might have been a couple factors though. Paired with Alcohol and weed I think she had some sort of panic attack. I think she started drinking got too drunk and when she was making these calls to her brother they told her they were calling the cops. Diane had a strong need to be perfect, and she didn’t want anyone to know she was so imperfect to be drunk with kids in the car. So I think in her impaired panicked state she left her phone so her brother couldn’t call her anymore. And drove with a “I just need to get home and everything will be fine” mindset and then the crash happened. Seasoned alcoholics can hide there addiction from family members and as I mentioned her husband did not seem all that attentive also he worked nights and she worked during the day so he very easily could not of known. I think Daniel is in major denial and I feel really bad for his son who survived.
I think you hit the nail on the head. By all accounts she was a Type A personality who had a profound need from control and had become an expert at erecting a facade. I think she lost control. I think that she probably didn't intend to take it as far as she did and deeply ashamed when she realized that she had lost that control. I would even entertain the possibility that when she realized the gravity of the situation she perhaps chose to end it.
This is the comment that aligns most perfectly with what I believe in this case. I also think she may have had suicidal tendencies and driving the wrong way may have been an impulsive self destructive action after she felt she was going to be “found out” as an alcoholic.
I think she was hungover from the night before & he pushed her to make the drive. I know ive woken up kinda drunk still. She could've tried to drink a little to curb the hangover but ended up spiking the effects of intoxication. He could be so adamant that she didn't drink or he didn't know because he a) pushed her to make the drive, b) pushed her to drink the night before, c) didn't want to take the kids & made her do it, or d) all of the above
@@alejandrarodriguez2508 this is what I think happened. Her head hurt from the hangover. And the erratic behavior can be explained by alcohol. Her not acting different was because she's a functioning alcoholic. I'm thinking she blacked out. You can do some scary shit when you black out. It's like you become a different person.
From what I've seen on this case, I think Diane was a functioning alcoholic. I think she took it too far that day. And I think Danny knows way more about her drinking than he will ever admit because he's in such deep denial. When he talks about her, you can tell he puts her on a very tall pedestal.
My mother was a functioning alcoholic. Successful, good parent (relatively obviously) friend groups. No one knew that she was drinking so much. I agree, I think she was a secret drinker and just took it too far that day. Also, mixing it with weed compounds the effects.
Nicole Elizabeth I agree as well. This story has it written all over it. My parents are functioning alcoholics and they can hide it pretty well. Whenever they are drinking no one can ever tell. They always hold it together. And like you said, he will probably never admit to it. It took me moving away from my family to come to terms with it. I’m pretty sure he’s not saying anything due to being ashamed or in denial
There could also be some legal consequences to him admitting he knew she was an alcoholic. With all the lawsuits, it would be in his best interest to keep his mouth shut.
So glad that the mother who lost her 3 kids found the strength to move on with her life and have another baby even though it doesn’t replace her other children so sad many condolences to all victims involved❤
I'm a recovering alcoholic and I was able to hide it from my entire family that lived with me because I waited until everyone was asleep to binge. I worked late and got up late so no one really knew. Alcoholics don't make sense and can conceal and hide. I definitely believe she was drunk but I think she underestimated how much she drank and instead of asking for help she wanted to continue the facade of being the perfect mother. The sad thing is that day her facade was more important to her than those children's safety. And that's exactly how alcohol poisons your brain.
this is the only theory that makes sense to me as far as why she didn't just pull over or call her husband/brother for help, she must have been lying. would also explain how she seemed normal to the gas station employees (being an alcoholic she could be blackout drunk and still act sober)
Can alcoholics actually hide their addiction? I have multiple alcoholics in my family, my uncle didn’t hide it or even try to hide it. My former way older cousin was drunk driving once on a Friday night nearly crashing into my own house with her rental car(since she crashed her own car with her drunk driving) then like 3 weeks later she ended up dying from kidney/liver failure.
please allow me a question, I am genuinely curious: How can you conceal the smell of alcohol from a body? All my (male) partners have quickly reeked once they had really just a couple of beers in an evening. It seemed like their whole body was smelling of it. How can one hide that?
A lot of this investigation seems to be centered around whether she was drunk or not, but alcohol doesn't make a sane responsible person do something this insane.
I'm no drinker or substance user and one of my biggest fears is driving on the wrong side of the highway. Whenever I get on a highway where the entrance is next to the exit ramp, I read, reread, and read again the "wrong way" signs. I look to see if a car is exiting off the ramp, too just to be sure I'm actually driving up the entrance and not the exit.
I’m pretty sure the son would have extreme post traumatic stress disorder from the accident so his brain probably erased those memories, I witnessed a murder when I was a kid and I wasn’t even able to remember what the people looked like
@@funnanny1979 Very serious. Imagine just seeing a loved one DEAD and then someone annoyingly or arrogantly telling you to calm down. like......WTF. I understand they need to get information, but perhaps being stern, yet compassionate will deliver better results.
For some reason I can remain calm during an emergency. Thankfully I’ve never been in a horrific situation like this but I do often wonder if I did stay calm like I usually do if they would say she didn’t even seem upset on the 911 call. I’m usually in shock and calm until the dust has settled and I realize what has happened. I just pray I’m never in a position where I could look like the bad guy or in any tragedy beyond what I have been.
I'm wondering if it was a psychotic break that could have provoked her to drink the vodka. It could be random, or something that festered for years and she finally broke. I don't think she was just a secret alcoholic, due to the lack of organ damage. Anyway, terrible tragedy regardless:( Also, I'm not sure it was a homicide or suicide either. She was aggressively driving which to me shows a lot of anxiety. Then she drove straight, straight through on the road in the wrong direction. If she wanted to kill herself, I don't see why she wasnt trying to specifically run into people. I agree with you Kendall, I don't think she knew she was going the wrong way.
I think she has a schizophrenic attack that provoked her to do such things and she had no control. There's a case where a man murdered a man because he was told to by God and he was calm throughout the situation, Kind of like how the person who saw Diane driving on the road in the opposite direction. She stated her face was blank and her composure seemed calm. But you could be right she could of had a psychotic breakdown and if so I wonder why?
@@chyanj2715 wow that would totally make sense as well! I think what you said could be really possible as well. Either way, it sounds like something just snapped. I wonder if she had a history with schizophrenia that was undiagnosed, or if you can experience it randomly under tons of stress or something? Also yeah I wish we knew more about her home life because I have no idea what would have caused it :( i get the feeling that no one's life is that cleaned up....maybe she could have been repressing something. But I dunno :/
@@Indi_Waffle_Girl I heard some cases about schizophrenia being diagnosed late in life and it happens quite often. I mean she could have had it and was unaware and suddenly had an attack and tried to drown it out maybe which could by why her toxicity level was pretty high? I don't know though. But yeah I wish we knew more about her personal life and if she was suppressing something I wonder how bad it could have been to kill her and three other children you know?
She was very clearly struggling with alcoholism. Her family is holding onto the good memories but likely down the line someone will come out with the “signs” they saw. RIP to everyone involved in this tragedy including Diane
There actually is another reasonable explanation. She had a bad tooth abscess, as confirmed by dental records. It was so bad that she needed to get a root canal, but she was extremely fearful of dental procedures and walked out. Why do you think people get root canals? What could possibly come from a tooth abscess? A brain infection... and what are the symptoms of a brain infection from a tooth abscess? Confusion, irritability, issues with nerve function, blurry or gray vision, headache, vomiting, stiffness... All of these symptoms align with what Diane appeared to experience that day. You might say... why didn't they find that in the autopsy? They don't regularly look for tooth abscesses in an autopsy. To test for a brain infection, it requires a spinal tap to look for the presence of bacteria in the brain. They would not have followed through with a spinal tap once they found alcohol and THC in her system. Also, a large portion of her upper right jaw and several teeth were MISSING and never found. You know what type of abscesses commonly lead to brain infections? Those around the upper molars. She was seen touching the right side of her face as she left the gas station after asking for pain medicine. Her friend said she was touching that side of her face the previous week, seemingly out of pain. I think she was looking for Benzocaine and they didn't have it, because why would a little gas station convenience store carry such a specific type of pain medicine? Ibuprofen wouldn't cut it for this, she was looking for pain gel to rub on her tooth. As for how the alcohol and THC got in her system, it was either out of confusion or delirious desperation to self-medicate the intense pain she was feeling from an abscessed tooth and brain infection.
@@thomeg492 in the video didn’t it say they found no abscess in her teeth in the autopsy? Not trynna argue just genuinely curious if I misheard that or not. Maybe it was brain infection but if she still had alcohol and weed in her system at that high of levels that could still be a leading factor in why what happened happened.
@@myriapinkston7122 You're fine, no worries! I read the autopsy (it's public and you can find it on Google) and there's no mention of an abscess, though they noted that her jaw was majorly fractured and many pieces and teeth were missing. It also does not mention if a spinal tap was done or not, which would have been able to look for bacteria in her brain. She definitely, 100% had alcohol and weed in her system, I just think it got there unintentionally. I think she was in extreme pain from the abscess and perhaps something like a brain infection would impact her eye sight and logic, causing her to self-medicate with the alcohol and weed. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever know the exact truth of what happened, but I prefer my theory because I don't think there's enough evidence to say she was a chronic alcoholic and did it intentionally, considering the behavior is totally out of character according to those who knew her and saw her regularly. I appreciate your thoughts.
I get migraines so that would make sense but why wouldn’t she like call her husband or someone to get them? Why would she try to drive with all the kids and not have them safely in the car
That’s a good point. At first I was like why wouldn’t she pull over and call. But maybe it was such intense pain that she wasn’t in the right frame of mind and it caused her to do things she typically wouldn’t. Like drink and drive. She maybe did drink for the pain. And maybe she had migraines before and knew what she needed to take to get rid of them. I mention this because one thing that bothered me at first was that she didn’t buy any pain meds because she couldn’t find the right one. When you’re in pain you typically take anything even if it’s not the best, but maybe she knew only one thing worked....
when my mom gets migraines she acts very strange and doesn't have any idea what's going on. she spaces out and won't hear what you're saying a lot of the time.
Dude, I remember watching the documentary "There's something wrong with Aunt Diane" in 2011 or maybe was 2009 and I just have always been fascinated and truly troubled by this case. Unfortunately I do believe that Diane was drunk and I do believe that she had a problem and I do believe that her husband Dan knows a lot more than he will ever say and something happened at that campsite that weekend that made her go over the edge. P.s. viewing the photos of Diane post mortem are not worth the emotional strife I have lived with for almost a decade...
Absolutely so sad that these poor kids lost their lives. And so sad for all the families involved. and I do understand the family not wanting to say she was an alcoholic. I mean what loved one wants to? And what loved one wants to blame their loved one for the cause of so many deaths.
The whole “ not in her character thing” never means much to me, seems like every true crime story starts with “ everyone loved them, they were kind, they were well liked, they were involved in the community, then later on you find out they’re a murderer or plot their own disappearance. This woman decided to get drunk and drive with all these children in the car. RIP to those poor kids and their parents.
Now that's some truth right there, jo!! You're absolutely right about how every true crime story begins. Not in this case, but in most true crime cases, in reference to the town/area where it happens everyone says things like that don't happen there but obviously they DO! I don't know why people say things like that both about the people and the places. And, you are absolutely right; no matter what else was going on with her, she had been drinking and she CHOSE to get behind the wheel, putting those children at risk. Sad, sad situation.
@Talena zzstu Meechan that’s true that doesn’t seem typical for a drunk person but do you think she was having some sort of mental break or that she was under the influence of something.. it’s so bizarre bc she had to have seemed normal enough to not raise any alarm in the gas station, was she of enough sound mind that she knew what she was doing was wrong or just acting without even knowing what she was doing? I have so many questions this case is just crazy to me, but I do think you’re right she doesn’t seem like she’s drunk when you point those things out
@@kimberlyvinson8386 yes exactly I was thinking of that too it’s like they’re just saying that to make it seem like a big twist at the end that the safe town had something horrible happen, but everyone’s already expecting it.. and yeah idk what was going on with her that day we may never know but she still drove in that condition and cost those kids their lives, and basically their parents lives too bc how do you go on when that happens to your babies??
@@joi1346 this case has been on my mind and it popped up. She didn’t seem drunk but.....I know two very functional alcoholics (my birth parents) and they can be BLITZED as hell and look completely normal as hell.
@Talena zzstu Meechan The toxicology report clearly showed she was drunk (0.19) and the autopsy found 10 undigested drinks in her stomach. She was a functioning alcoholic. You build tolerance and can fool people but are still impaired. She probably drove drunk with her kids all the time, was lucky, and nothing happened. Drunks like this see this as a sign that they can get away with it. Until they push it too far and kill someone.
I finally clicked on one of your videos and I’ve been obsessed. Absolutely LOVE your channel and so proud of all the work you’ve put in! Keep going girl ❤️ I need to see you on tv
@kendallrae I was just watching another video where alcohol intoxication was the suspected cause. The medical examiner in that case stated that alcohol levels tend to rise after death due to fermentation and diffusion, therefore making it impossible to get an accurate BAC. Why didn't these toxicologists take that into account?
From my limited understanding, I believe accurate levels are found in the blood stream while tissues show higher levels, all of which are taken into account by experts.
Fermentation takes time though, this was all a fast process. Also, the clue is alcohol levels "rise" which means there has to be alcohol levels to begin with, we aren't grapes, we don't ferment like that. There is an illness called auto brewery syndrome where individuals stomachs can turn food waste into alcohol in their stomach but it's extremely rare.
Diane was a alcoholic and they know how to fool everyone. She probably been doing it for years. Her husband needs to wake up does he really think their lying about her toxicology report
Cathy Fisher I’m not trying to defend her in anyway possible but if she was an alcoholic her liver would have shown it. The autopsy stated that not just her liver but all her organs were in tact so if she was a real alcoholic they would know but I personally don’t think she was.
@@AFpaleoCon Right. Her informations a little off about being high. It affects everyone differently and she definitely could've driven more aggressively while high.
All of this points to alcoholism. I had a friend who was an alcoholic. She never drank in front of people and most individuals didn't even know she had a problem. She had a bottle of Absolute vodka and she would guzzle it in the front seat of her car. Alcoholics like Vodka because it is not as strong on your breath (which is something alcoholics think about when they are hiding alcohol). I remember catching her drinking that shit like water. I 100% think this woman was hiding her alcoholism. Listen, people can drink in the car, put the bottle on the passenger seat, and keep driving. But when the bottle is on the drivers side.... that means they are at the point where they are drinking while driving. It also explains her BAC levels at .2%. For an average person, that could put them in a coma! So her tolerance was insanely high. It also explains why people thought she was acting "normal" because she was used to acting nornal while being drunk. However, even with a high tolerance- booze 100% impairs your judgement. You think you are "fine" and all of a suddent you're driving the wrong way on the freeway. I mean, she was going 75 MPH. That's not THAT crazy of a speed. She clearly drank alcohol at 7 am in the morning. Thats someone who NEEDS alcohol to function throughout the day. I bet she drove drunk with the kids all the time. And she probably thought she would be fine.. I'm very curious what her crash history is because I would bet money she has at least 5 or more car accidents under her driving history. And I also bet her husband is trying to prove otherwise because he feels extreme guilt for not addressing her alcoholism earlier. Hence, why they kept changing their stories about her drinking. That is what this story sounds like to me. People don't just wake up one day and pound a 5th of vodka and drive their kids out of the blue. An alcoholic whose been driving drunk for years..... would do exactly just that.
The husband was just protecting himself. He knew she had a drinking and drug problem. So he is guilty, at least of negligence, for allowing her to drive when knowing she not only could still have a hungover, but she could drink behind his back, which probably she did often.
I agree with you 100 percent. I think the husband Is feeling some kind of guilt. because he knew but maybe didn't have the courage to say something. Or he knew she had a drinking problem but thought that she did not drink that particular day, and he feels guilt. So, definitely!
@@miriamllamas224 Plus he never wanted kids. She promised to do all the work. Why in the documentary he seems pissed about caring for his son. I hope he got better at it.

the video footage at the gas station says 10:43 if im seeing correctly. that’s an hour window until that witness saw her throwing up on the side of the road. she had a full hour to possibly drink to get rid of that ‘tooth ache’ or whatever she needed medication for. idk, just an observation 🤷🏻♀️
Stephanie H. That’s what I was thinking!! Maybe she started out drinking just a little to dull the pain, but then little by little she drank too much. That’d explain why she was seen throwing up in two different places.
If I remember correctly from the HBO documentary, the drive should have only taken 35 minutes, and yet the accident happened 4 hours after departing from the camp site. There’s a lot of time unaccounted for, even after taking into account their stop at McDonald’s, etc

Her family were the main victims. The Hansen family were part of Diane’s family, too. She was witnessed throwing up on 2 separate occasions.... There was a bottle of vodka in the driver's seat. Her blood levels proved she was intoxicated. She was OBVIOUSLY drinking and driving. Most the time the simplest explanation is the right explanation.
Not to mention she had alcohol in her stomach that still hadn't been absorbed. About 8 grams or so .......
i think in this case the WHY of it all, is what's confusing and unsettling.
Kellie Collins It’d be interesting but he was young, and not to mention went through a lot after it so the memory might have been faded and even if it wasn’t I’d doubt he’d want to remember it
Hypnosis might be a possibility!
I’m curious to know. Usually the brain blocks out traumatic experiences as much as possible, but not always. It’d be interesting to see his take on the whole situation, especially since it was a first-hand experience.

And neither will Diane's. All because she caused the accident, however it happened, doesn't mean her memory needs to be erased.
@@kilasha3 I agree. I don’t think Diane meant to kill anyone. Something was wrong and she couldn’t control herself. And she and 7 others died.
@@lr8607yes my thoughts too! Looking for hard liquor in the gas station

@@vampdem0n614 I will look it up :)
there is this thing called trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve in the face. It's most common in women over age 50
Symptoms range from mild to severe facial pain, often triggered by chewing, speaking, or brushing the teeth.
I have this :(
wow2283 my mom has known she had it for about 4 years and about a year ago she had brain surgery that has helped with the pain tremendously, she rarely has any!!! sadly the surgery help will apparently only last 2 years but she plans on doing the surgery if the pains come back. wishing you the best and hope you find a good way to cope with the pain!!!!
That could be true but still doesn't make sense because when you're in excrutiating pain don't you just pull over?
@@A__Mina she did she was throwing up but maybe she really got a mental trauma too
Ooh this is really interesting!
A few things that come to mind as a paramedic listening to this story:
1) when they said she was in pain my immediate thought was stroke or some sort of seizure
2) The blood alcohol level, and that early in the morning, leads me to believe that she was drunk &/or an alcoholic
3) chronic alcoholism puts you at higher risk for spontaneous bleeding -- like in your brain. Bleeding in the brain is called a hemorrhagic stroke. Strokes can cause severe headaches, vision changes, nausea & vomiting, and altered mental status
4) An accident that severe I can see it being difficult to tell if the bleeding was present prior to the accident, or because of it.
As Kendall mentioned, the autopsy confirmed she wasn't having a stroke or anything like that.
No damage to her organs, so, very unlikely she was a chronic drinker or alcoholic
Sometimes the infection in wisdom teeth can also spread further into the brain and can be fatal if not taken care of in time
It’s difficult to reconcile the toxicology findings with who Diane was as a person.
If you’re someone who grew up taking care of everyone (as I know the documentary touches on her “doing everything” in the house after her mother left and her being the one to take care of her family), it’s likely that you probably wouldn’t feel like you could come forward and talk about the issues that you’re having and that you’d just try to handle it on your own
If they proceeded with the hair testing the truth of the extent of her alcoholism and addictions would come out.
I think it's highly likely that Diane was a functioning alcoholic.
She wasn't drinking. Alcohol levels increase with or without alcohol after death. And they can by a lot. If she drank the night before it would be even higher. But with no alcohol it can be this-
the postmortem BACs were higher than the antemortem BACs by an average of 0.06 g/dL, ranging from a BAC difference of an increase of 0.01 g/dL to 0.16 g/dL
Omg you must’ve been so scared! I’m glad you had the wherewithal to know something was wrong.. 🙏🏻❤️

It is also a sign of depression
Sure. It’s typical for an alcoholic to start drinking as soon as they get up.
I 100% agree..
But can you hide it from a medical examiner looking at your liver and seeing no signs of chronic abuse? I figured she was an alcoholic and her family was in denial initially, but if she was that deep into addiction, her organs should show some signs.

@@AngMarco Very nicely put, thanks you!
I really think that she was in such an extreme level of pain and panic that she was bulldozing through the oncoming traffic (maybe not knowing it was oncoming due to vision impairment) and just driving in a straight line to the best of her memory in order to get home or off the highway as soon as possible.
what about the THC?
Still that would be incredibly irrisponsible. If she had a migraine she shouldn't have been driving. She should have called someone.
Could even have bug spray too
@@blubell24 apparently she smoked often so she likely did the night before and the morning of, but it wouldn't cause her to drive like that IMO so I didn't include that as a major factor
She was drunk. They literally found loads of alcohol in her system during the toxicology reports.
The police are overfunded yet still cant do their jobs properly 🤦♀️
candle jenner it takes time to drive somewhere especially if they aren’t in the area and this woman is hitting 85. not everything is the polices fault. as an officer said up there ^ they try but sometimes they are too far away and the blame isn’t on them it’s on the woman behind the wheel. plus if they did get there sooner not much they could do she still could’ve wrecked. the only thing they could really do at that point is block her off or put spikes in the road. but that’s also on a HIGHWAY with other car and children in the back.

I'm thinking she probably was a high-functioning alcoholic. The pain made her drink too much that day, and she just lost it.
Second autopsy proved there was no bad tooth to cause any pain..
@Kathy Lowery how? She drank too much, she crashed the car. No one denies her responsibility.
I keep thinking that too but if it was a habit that should have been apparent in an autopsy. It would gave had to be a recent thing.
@@Alana8480 Actually in the HBO documentary her husband and sister'in-law vehemently argue that she wasn't drunk and that she would never do that. They claim that there has to be a medical explanation for the incident.
I'm watching the HBO doc and I'm slowing coming to that conclusion as well. By most accounts she seemed like a buttoned-up Type A personality who needed to be in control at all times. I think she became accustomed to presenting a certain competent face to family and friends while she was losing it underneath. Totally explains why her actions are "out of character" for those that knew her.

Suspected to have murdered 3 people. They were charged with one and suspects in the other two. Innocent until proven guilty. Sadly they are dead so we will never know.
Occam’s razor - the more assumptions you have to make to draw a conclusion, the more unlikely it is that it’s the correct explanation.
how can you sue someone because their wife got loaded?? I don't understand.
She got behind the wheel of a car while under the influence, so they were going to try to go after her husband. I do not think they did, though.
Dig! Everyone is sued for the actions of their loved one wrongdoing.
Fuck that man he tried to sue the state and blame it on the road then he tried to blame it on his friends car, typical trash just like his wife.
ace boogie he even brought suit against his brother in law who’s vehicle she was driving, you know, the one who’s three daughters were killed in the wreck! Who does that?!?!?!

As a recovering alcoholic let me tell you nothing we do in our addiction makes sense.
Amen to that. It’s shocking what we’re capable of. I refused to learn to drive until was 9 years sober because as a kid my mom drove drunk with us kids and I didn’t ever want to do that.
This was beyond alcoholism!
Then dont drink.
@@veganaise2383 easier said than done, also someone has to come to the realization that that is the problem. It can appear to be the most obvious issue to everyone else, but the active alcoholic can be blind to it and then they have to find something that works for them to get and stay sober.
@@melissacoviello2886 Absolutely. I am 22yrs sober and alcohol still scares the shit out me. I thank God everyday for saving my life.
This event haunts me. She obviously had a serious alcohol problem, which I think she was hiding. Those poor babies and the other victims involved.
It saddens me some of the children died and the lone surviving child suffers from a lifelong disability. May the spirits of the dead children rest in peace and the surviving child find peace within himself.
I don’t even think diane knew she was going to die I wonder if she even knows she’s dead
I Absolutely agree with that whole statement
This is the comment that aligns most perfectly with what I believe in this case. I also think she may have had suicidal tendencies and driving the wrong way may have been an impulsive self destructive action after she felt she was going to be “found out” as an alcoholic.
But the autopsy showed no liver damage that you’d expect to see from an alcoholic.
Madison Butz so she was wasted, but in control enough to drive on the wrong side of the highway🤷🏽♀️
This was very disturbing. Bothered me a great deal. I believe that she was drinking, you can't get around a blood alcohol level like that.
Maybe i just heard it wrong, i thought it was under the legal limit?
Kaitlyn Engelland oh no it wasnt
Wasnt it just .15 or something like equivalent to having 3 to 4 beers
Kaitlyn Engelland .10 is considered drunk so I think 0.19 is wasted
Kaitlyn Engelland I heard that first but when I went back and relistened I realised it was over!
Idk this may be hard to hear. I grew up with alcoholic parents, they were very good at hiding it and yes they would drive with us
I think her husband knows something and won’t come forward...
Christina C same
yess!
Alejandra Rodriguez good theory maybe she went to the store looking for medicine for a hangover
So why does the autopsy report that there were NO DAMAGE to her liver if she was an alcoholic??
There could also be some legal consequences to him admitting he knew she was an alcoholic. With all the lawsuits, it would be in his best interest to keep his mouth shut.
Her liver said otherwise
when she said “she brings a heartbeat to this house again” I got chills
A. B. I cried damn that's crazy I can't imagine
Yes I think you’re right.. Very sad 😞
this is the only theory that makes sense to me as far as why she didn't just pull over or call her husband/brother for help, she must have been lying. would also explain how she seemed normal to the gas station employees (being an alcoholic she could be blackout drunk and still act sober)
@@hafusan idk I wasn't much of a beer drinker. I was a vodka drinker and I find that doesn't usually smell too strong unless you're kissing the person
I can't imagine beeing trapped under my dead siblings or cousins... That would be terrifying
It must have been absolutely horrible for him. But ironically, that's probably what saved his life.
A lot of this investigation seems to be centered around whether she was drunk or not, but alcohol doesn't make a sane responsible person do something this insane.
That's exactly what I'm thinking.
Exactly. See my comment above. This was intentional. Look how she peels out of the gas station & onto the highway like a bat out of hell.
I guess people just looking for the reason why this thing happened... That doesn't mean they want to justify her behavior...
@@MsNooneinparticular so you concluded it was intentional just by the way she exited the gas station?? You must be very smart 🙄
You do not know this.. Are you a doctor???
I'm no drinker or substance user and one of my biggest fears is driving on the wrong side of the highway. Whenever I get on a highway where the entrance is next to the exit ramp, I read, reread, and read again the "wrong way" signs. I look to see if a car is exiting off the ramp, too just to be sure I'm actually driving up the entrance and not the exit.

I'm wondering if it was a psychotic break that could have provoked her to drink the vodka. It could be random, or something that festered for years and she finally broke. I don't think she was just a secret alcoholic, due to the lack of organ damage. Anyway, terrible tragedy regardless:(
Also, I'm not sure it was a homicide or suicide either.
Addie Harmon I thought the exact same 🤔
i was thinking psychotic break the whole time, so strange & terrible:'(
I think she has a schizophrenic attack that provoked her to do such things and she had no control. @@chyanj2715 wow that would totally make sense as well! I think what you said could be really possible as well. Either way, it sounds like something just snapped.
If her head was hurting that badly and she was having vision issues could it have been a severe migraine?
That's what I've always thought
The surviving child's statements about "mommy's head hurt, mommy couldn't see" suggests that.
I thought this also
when my mom gets migraines she acts very strange and doesn't have any idea what's going on. she spaces out and won't hear what you're saying a lot of the time.
I agree. After that documentary I am convinced she was drunk. Those pictures were pretty bad to look at.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
This is exactly what I was going to post, absolutely heart breaking for the kids and families involved
Yes to everything you said!

@Talena zzstu Meechan The toxicology report clearly showed she was drunk (0.19) and the autopsy found 10 undigested drinks in her stomach. She was a functioning alcoholic. You build tolerance and can fool people but are still impaired. She probably drove drunk with her kids all the time, was lucky, and nothing happened. Drunks like this see this as a sign that they can get away with it. Until they push it too far and kill someone.

She was drunk, point blank. Trying to defend her is a slap in the face to the victims.

Wow
Samantha, that all makes sense to me. Good insights.
So, definitely!
but she said her organs had no alcoholic damage.. at her age, if she was an alcoholic it would’ve shown in her liver.
@@miriamllamas224 Plus he never wanted kids. She promised to do all the work. Why in the documentary he seems pissed about caring for his son. I hope he got better at it.
Glad you mentioned your pets. I am a total animal person and I love it when I see one or more of your furbabies in the background !
Like two of my fave things: critters and true crime .🥰
me too
the video footage at the gas station says 10:43 if im seeing correctly. that’s an hour window until that witness saw her throwing up on the side of the road. she had a full hour to possibly drink to get rid of that ‘tooth ache’ or whatever she needed medication for. idk, just an observation 🤷🏻♀️
@@NatalieMarie917 Wow really!? That's very odd for sure.
I live next to the town the Hances live in but I work in that town. It has really put a lasting effect on the community. Not a day goes by at work where I don't see someone with an EAK/Hance Family Foundation T-shirt or bracelet. Could you please link the Hance Family Foundation in the description? They are doing great work in self esteem education in honor of their girls. Thanks for making this video x
I’m just saying kendall your background and the warm tones are so soothing 🤧 Love you girl!
so true
Agree!!
My girlfriend and I always say this at the beginning of every video she does, especially in her older place with the crystals, candles, and that cool table that was like glass with plants?
Kendal seems like a natural nester who can turn any space into a zen beautiful place. If she wasn’t so great with TH-cam, she could’ve easily been an interior decorator I think.
This was heartbreaking. As a mother of 4, and an aunt as well, I can't imagine ANY situation that would make a woman do such a thing of her own volition. This has to be a case of sudden onset mental illness or medical anomaly. My heart goes out to her husband. To have to listen to people's judgments when he was a victim in this too. Whatever the cause, he lost his wife and daughter. That day will be a scar on his life forever.😭
