the fact she was placed across a street named “degnan”, which was a murder of a child in chicago with the last name Degnan, who’s limbs were surgically removed and placed in different locations. she was supposedly a victim of the lipstick killer (which plays into the french murder) , George Hodel was suspiciously in chicago at that time. not to mention the child and dahlia were both perfectly bisected (cut in half).
I don’t think hodel was part of that, as their was many cases like that like the torso killer but he definitely played a big role in Elizabeth shorts Case and possibly the Jean Spangler case too
You guys should make a series called "Case Closed", where you cover some of the cases you have gone over that have been recently solved, or cover cases that have been cold for decades
Imagine dying and being described as "very attractive," but still having the cops criticize your teeth. Edit: Yeah, as many of you have pointed out the teeth thing could have been useful in identifying the body. Tbh what's weirder is how they described her as very attractive, when beauty is so subjective.
She was also named "The Black Dahlia" because there was a movie that came out around the time she was killed that was called 'The Blue Dahilia' and she had a striking resemblance to the main actress so her close friends called her the black dahlia because she regularly wore black. 💁
That sorta defeats the whole idea of the channel, considering how it is called, 'BuzzFeed UNSOLVED Network,' plus I'd find them quite boring since they've already been solved, and there's nothing to think about, nor is there any mystery to the case.
maybe a mini-series on the side would work better. There are many cases that although solved they're still interesting because of the methodology of the crimes or the personalities surrounding the case, of both the culprits and the investigators. Like the Unabomber for example, it's solved and the information is there to look up but I'd like to see the boys tackle it in the own style.

Something I'm glad of is that Elizabeth Short had the nickname of "Black Dahlia" even before she was killed. Her suitors gave her that nickname due to her signature dark-haired, dramatic look. I'm glad the papers didn't just give her a catchy nickname for a headline.
When I see George was described as a "dashing man" and a doctor with knowledge of stuff, I already had a red flag considering most serial killers we're described as charming, and that's obviously another clue that he has knowledge of surgical stuff
It reminds me of an American Horror Story episode in which a Hollywood doctor that did surgeries on women and killed them. One of the bodies had been cut in half at the waist and a smile cut into her lips.
It so unsettling and disturbing how Elizabeth went from a beautiful, young, and popular actress to this lifeless, abused corpse that was just thrown on the side of the street! Absolutely disturbing
Chris Cross every time I see her face, it hits me with reality that this beautiful young woman who could’ve had such an amazing career is gone. It hurts me. It’s amazing what you can feel for a total stranger that wouldn’t have even thought once that I could’ve existed

When they were done getting all the information they wanted/needed from Elizabeth’s mother, they finally told her that her daughter had been murdered
Why didn't Jeanne French's murder receive as much attention as the Black Dahlia's? Surely the press at that time would have loved a double homicide and would have created a media frenzy about a possible serial killer... This really baffles me
could be a possible copycat murder, someone different trying to mimic the original killings. also the term “serial killer” had not been coined until the 70s
There were actually a lot of similar murders leading up to the Black Dahlia murder and after. There’s actually a really good podcast about these murders called Hollywood & Crime

Hodel was suspected of killing his secretary about two years before Short was killed. His would be motive for killing her was to cover financial fraud. He was never charged at the time because he left for China

the main problem with "truth serums" is that technically they don't necessarily force the truth out of you. It will only lower your inhibitions enough to make you either more susceptible to suggestion and less of a compulsion to lie about something. That doesn't always mean that no one would or could lie. I came back here because I read this article about Lucila Lulu, an unsolved murder case in the Ph years after Black Dahlia happened. Her body parts were dismembered and scattered in the City and was believed that it was done by someone with medical knowledge, the weird thing about it is that George Hodel went to PH during that time
Black Dahlia: "Man, she's pretty cute, but the murderer knows about our crimes so no more investigating!" Bobby Dunbar: "Look, lady! I said it's your son, so it's your son!! Lock her in a mental institution, boys" Florida Machete Murder: "Alright fellas, let's hose down this crime scene" Shane: "They don't care!" Ryan: "Yeah, cops don't care, I guess..." this series does a great job at displaying our country's complete and justifiable lack of faith in it's justice system and the police
Plus in the Sodder case, the detectives didn’t seem that concerned that a life insurance salesman came to their door and said that their house was going up in smoke and their children would disappear. And the fire department didn’t get there until like 7 hours after the fire started.
It's sad to see the justice system and police aren't getting significantly better through time. I mean, a lot of unsolved mysteries in the past at least has corrupt police and/or a biased justice system involved-and look where we are now! Still suffering (especially minorities) from corrupt police and a weak justice system. And when the government fails, it's up to the people to rise and make (or peacefully protest for) the change; and hopefully it'll be good for the long run for real (by today's standards). Also, why did I snicker at the Florida machete murder quote?
Ryan: Yeah.. there's this guy who was her friend for a little and there's no other evidence against him and um there's this dude seen on the scene but nobody knows who he is. Also there's this really evil doctor who has literally all the evidence pointed against him and basically confessed to the murder on tape. The only reason he wasn't arrested was because of corruption in the LAPD. Also Ryan: "For now, the case remains: UNSOLVED"
Oh they were so involved... "I imagine her perfect little genitals torn apart" They were obsessed with her looks, and constantly objectifying her, as if she wasn't even a human, but a possession. Plus all the evidence presented against them and their known association with powerful pedophiles, I have zero doubts.
POST MORTEM: It's sad to think Elizabeth Short only achieved the fame she sought after in life after her death, she even had a movie made about her death when she herself never made it big in films. If they ever made a movie about the Unsolved boys who do you think they would get to play them? P.s love you both welcome back!

ikr shane for president . seriously too
Shane: Julia Child. You think she could murder anyone?
Me, internally: remembers she was a cia agent
Me: (sweats)
Please do the "beaumont children" pretty long rabbit hole which could include the Adelaide oval abduction as well, whole list of suspects as well. Australia's most famous crime mystery.
mr h What’s that case about?? Could you give like a quick overview??
Yeah I never heard of that crime. Sounds interesting though
@@takor7573 In 1966 three kids vanished after going to the beach. It was a few stops from their home and they already went there on their own before. They agreed with their mother on time when they will come back. But they never arrived. Last seen at the bus stop near the beach (near the time when they should have gone back) with an unknown man. But neither this man nor childer were found.
Irina Kvasnikova thanks!!

Villainess Deku idk periods are more-so your uterus being unemployed by you lmao
I had the same thought
I came back here because I read this article about Lucila Lulu, an unsolved murder case in the Ph years after Black Dahlia happened. Her body parts were dismembered and scattered in the City and was believed that it was done by someone with medical knowledge, the weird thing about it is that George Hodel went to PH during that time
Black Dahlia: "Man, she's pretty cute, but the murderer knows about our crimes so no more investigating!"
Bobby Dunbar: "Look, lady! I said it's your son, so it's your son!! Lock her in a mental institution, boys"
Florida Machete Murder: "Alright fellas, let's hose down this crime scene"
Shane: "They don't care!"
Ryan: "Yeah, cops don't care, I guess..."
this series does a great job at displaying our country's complete and justifiable lack of faith in it's justice system and the police
To be fair, corruption has existed in America since it was discovered. It isn't surprising that corruption has spread everywhere.
Wasn’t it the Arthur Hutchison case, not Bobby Dunbar?
@@Messed-up-logic yeah it was the Walter Collins case
them fangirling over chris pine at the end is *everything*
Wo wouldnt.. he is a beautiful human 😍😍😍😍😍
I love how soft Ryan's voice went.
“He’s got nice eyes.....”
If it sounds like a duck :D and walks like a duck...
It's a murderer (George Hodel)
Ryan and Shane: anyone can murder
Me: immediately thinks that Barbie said you can be anything
You should do an episode on the disappearance of Madelaine McCann. Parents were totally involved, negligent at the very least
Oh they were so involved...
"I imagine her perfect little genitals torn apart"
They were obsessed with her looks, and constantly objectifying her, as if she wasn't even a human, but a possession.
Plus all the evidence presented against them and their known association with powerful pedophiles, I have zero doubts.
@@missjustpeachygirl tf did they say that?? That's like an immediate sentence surely
Or they can investigate something that happened this week. The disappearance of Emiliano Sala

POST MORTEM: It's sad to think Elizabeth Short only achieved the fame she sought after in life after her death, she even had a movie made about her death when she herself never made it big in films. If they ever made a movie about the Unsolved boys who do you think they would get to play them? P.s love you both welcome back!
FOR LIKE A YEAR I've been looking for "I met some of the most insufferable people but they also met me" and to know that it's followed up with "and I wish that on no one!" is the cherry on top.
