This is so sad and scary, Heather did literally nothing and was killed for it. To think that you could just be living your life with no idea that the people closest to you are lying and manipulating, dragging you into such a dangerous situation, it's a terrifying thought. Poor Heather deserved so much better.

It's really sad that Igancio started cheating on Heather just because her medication made it harder for her in the bedroom. It sounds like he just blamed that on her, and was like "Oh well I guess I'll go out and cheat!" when it had only been around a year. So gross and sad.

When you say your vows you are also vowing to be with a person in sickness and in health, sickness being the operative word in their case. The saddest part is with all the people he chose to cheat with, he ended up cheating with a narcissistic psycho. He also had a duty to his child by her but that could have been handled through court. Anyway, this is very Sad.

I agree with everything you said except for the part about him having a duty to that child. Shawna was r*ping him bc she was using blackmail to force him to have sex with her and also to not wear protection therefore the child is a product of that and the same way I would never say that a woman should have to carry her r*pists child to term and care for it after it is born I can’t say that he had a responsibility to care for that child. The relationship started out consensual but the moment she started blackmailing him it became r*pe. He was terrible for what he did to his wife but that does not negate the severity of what Shawna did to him.

The amount of people who seem to just believe men can’t be raped in these comments is insane. Are “grown ass man” suddenly impervious to abuse? That’s certainly news to me and many, many other men who’ve had partners say “if you don’t have sex with me then x”. Same goes for protection. I know multiple guys who were caught in baby traps/caught STDs because their abusive partners threatened to leave them, kill themselves, etc if they wore condoms. It’s not even slightly uncommon.

My best friend in middle school was Victoria Garraus. I still have a sweater she gave me, she was supposed to come back to Florida after HS, we were going to go to college together. Her father told us that Heather had cancer. This podcast is the first I'm hearing about it. Harrowing experience, to say the least.

Experienced losing my Dad on my 20th bday while in college. I had no one but a boyfriend that I was previously about to end things with because he was horrible to me. After I returned to school from the funeral he knew I was vulnerable & his level of betrayal skyrocketed ( way too much type). I cared but couldn’t fight because the loss of my father was so deep & unexpected I just wanted to hold on to what I knew. So perhaps Heather stayed by intolerable Ig’s side out of grief simply just wanting to hold on not letting go because of the loss she experienced. Just a guess but after learning how to handle grief, what different types of abuse & how to properly date, 10 years later I can’t believe I allowed someone to treat me so bad at any time but especially while grieving. I'm struggling with my feelings about the true crime community lately. I noticed one creator being insensitive, and it opened my eyes to so much that I think I didn't want to see before. I'm honestly really troubled at the way the families of victims, and even the families of perpetrators, are abused, stalked and ripped to shreds online and in person. I've seen creators themselves encourage this behaviour among their viewership while treating murder cases like pure entertainment.
You have always stood apart from that behaviour and shown genuine care and interest in helping people. I appreciate that, and I'm sure the people involved in these very real cases do too. ❤️
I completely agree. Kendall is one of the few who speaks about these cases with care and uses her platform to help these folks.
Kendal and Stephanie Harlow are the only true crime channels I can watch, everyone else is too gimmicky
I follow several true crime channels and I have never heard any of them encouraging harassment of victims families.

I feel bad for Shawna's baby too. The poor child did not ask to be born into such a toxic situation. I hope he got adopted by a good, loving family and that he is safe now. I don't know if Kendell Rae knows anything about what happened to Christian after his mother was sent to prison or if the father took responsibility and took him but I just hope that baby is okay.

I can't help but think of the children in this tragedy, and I feel so sorry for them that they have psychopaths for parents. Ignatio couldn't keep it in his pants for that pig of a woman and now his wife is gone from this world and their children don't have their mother and Shawna's children have to live with the fact that their mother is a murderous sex addicted freak who didn't care one iota about them. These people are absolutely sick. My God bless the children and help them have a decent life after this.

Hi Kendall! I am a native in Colorado and also a 911 Operator (21 years today). I remember this case and a coworker of mine worked with Shauna at Weld County dispatch. She was shocked with this case.
Listening to this woman speak made my head hurt so much. The way she tried to talk in circles and make herself a victim was infuriating. Poor Heather. Hope her crappy husband sits with this guilt for the rest of his life.
Why wasn't she immediately fired at her work place knowing she was having multiple affairs? Is that not a characteristic of a bad quality of a person? Not to Mention, isn't that the main motive of murders- crimes of passion.

I definitely think Shanna thought wearing her husband's clothes/shoes and driving his truck would be enough to get him locked up for the murder of Heather, which would leave her and Ignacio with their twisted "happy ever after." Something also tells me that Ignacio was not truly threatened by Shanna the way he says. If he truly did not want a relationship with Shanna anymore, he would have accepted that Heather would find out somehow, which just shows that he was okay with getting satisfaction elsewhere from anyone.
I believe he told heather about the affair and believe it or not just like it happened in the movie fatal attraction when the husband finally told the wife the truth that’s when the other woman totally lost it, she kidnapped his daughter and then tried to kill his wife, because when he told his wife she had no power nothing to bully him with.
When has cheating ever worked out? This is so sad and so unnecessary . Rest in Peace Heather. I hope she haunts them every so often.

My husband lived in Greeley at this time. He was in 6th grade. He actually lived on 12 ave and 25th st which was literally right across the street from the credit union this happened at. He was outside playing in a snow bank that day in December and actually watched Shauna walk in and heard the gunshots that killed Heather. We’ve both been waiting for Kendall to cover this story!!

As someone who uses zoloft and started using it right as my ocd and gad was on the brink of killing me, it has been a lifeSAVER. And thankfully my boyfriend is my lifesaver as well. He would never do this to me and I’m so grateful. Everyone deserves that, especially in SUCH hard times. Heather deserved so much better and so much more love and patience. ❤️ If your partner is like Ignacio, please know you deserve so much better! Stay strong.

Zoloft has literally saved my daughter as well. She has anxiety and depression and it has helped her so much. Im grateful for this medication and her drs.

This is such a tragic story. I lost my dad, then two weeks later to the day, my mother passed away. Two funerals within a month. I also suffer from depression so I can relate to what Heather went through. Too bad that crazy woman did what she did.
Did anyone else catch how when the 911 call came into dispatch and the APB went out for Shauna being wanted for a shooting, Ken, her husband, immediately thought someting had happened to their kids? That tells me that if her husband thought she was psycotic enough to harm her own children, she wouldn't think twice about killing her "competition."
I get what you're trying to say. But I read that as him believing that Shauna had shot someone in defense of their children. Like if someone had tried to hurt the children, and she acted to protect them.
