I started collecting X-Factor after issue 70 and beyond. When I saw that Havok was leading X-Factor, it was an instant sale for me. The stories were pretty good, too. Havok had such a tragic back story.
Thank you for dropping this nerd knowledge on me. I just picked up Marvel essential X Factor vol 1 & I was real curious where it took place. now I have a better understanding and I think I'll enjoy this book a lot more.
The amount of team members that came and left from the different "X" teams during that whole time is crazy. Even after Gold and Blue teams were established.
This is something that's been on my head for a while and I believe Linkara said it as well. The anti-mutant movement in Marvel universe baffles me. People like the Fantastic 4, Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America are tolerated while Mutants are not? In fact how does the public know that they aren't mutants as well? This is honestly one the more confusing parts of the MU if you think about it, while at the same time it feels like something obvious...
I have always agreed with you. It just seems, for the most part, that the shear numbers of mutants and their unpredictable and many times uncontrolled powers where causing problems everywhere. Plus, there were several "bad guy" mutant groups that were all too happy to admit that they were mutants and declare that they were against normal humans. There for a while it was actually a percentage of Earth's population that were believed to be mutants. Way more mutants in, let's say Rhode Island, than all the heroes and villains combined that went to the original Secret Wars. It was a mess. Its also why I liked the X-Men so much. The Avengers or the FF would save New York (again and again) and get a parade or the key to the city. The X-Men would save the whole world or the galaxy and nobody ever knew about it.
Part of the problem, of course, is that a lot (if not all) of those characters were created pre-mutants (that is, before X-Men comics), so those heroes got grandfathered in, in the public conscience. (They also tended to have better PR or seemed to work for the authorities, in some way.) Most importantly, though, none of them was born with their powers. They were very obviously regular people who had something weird or extraordinary happen to them. That's basically a fantasy we all have: that something extraordinary will happen and make us special or make us heroes. But mutants are seen as genetic deviants, as freaks, as non-human--and as people who have done nothing to "earn" their powers, making them seem immediately more like a threat. At least, that's how I've always seen it.
This is a major plot hole... one you could drive a mack truck through... the Fantastic four are very open about there origins (in space comsmic rays) Captian America and Iron man are both also very public, people know those 6 are not mutants... but everyone else (ESP SPIDERMAN) should face the same anti mutant bullying... Spiderman is the worst offender. Why do none of the bugal anti-spiderman stuff call him out as a mutie?
To me, the X-men always seemed like they were in a different world than the Avengers, FF and Spider-man. Feels like those two groups have been forced together since the same company owns them. Same with Batman & Superman.
Grim Theorist I agree here, although at least with Batman and Superman, you put together 2 characters, not 2 environments, they are closer to putting together Captain America and Thor.
Can you do a comics explained for the mid 2000’s run with multiple recollecting his duplicates? I don’t fully remember the story but I remember loving it!!
Hey Rob, I want to begin by taking my hat off to ya and saying good job with your channel bud. I find it to be highly informative and definitely nostalgic; my childhood rocked! With that out of the way, I have a request. I would like to know your knowledge of Alex Summers a.k.a. Havok. He is hands down one of my 5 favorite mutants (w/Wolverine, Gambit, Archangel, and Nightcrawler) I've always felt like he was one of the most powerful mutants and his evolution has intrigued me for years. I mean the guys a living rechargeable battery for cosmic energy. He's technically the only human able absorb a star...nuff said! Anyways, thank you for all of your comic/science fiction knowledge. Please keep up the good work!
Seems like the movies could easily adopt x-factor into the continuity, and keep the old cast/characters in a mentor/search and rescue capacity. Sounds really neat to me =P.
I liked x-factor it was great to see the original xmen reunited and for beast to finally return to an x book after what seemed like an eternity in the avengers, defenders and other groups.....the Jean Grey retcon was the one thing I hated they could have just kept Rachel around.......I also liked the 2nd edition letting some lesser known mutants shine I really liked Polaris and Wolfsbane.
I don't understand the reveal that Jean survived. So according to this the Phoenix does not take over a host but recreates its phyiscal form? So why have all the other times the Phoenix has been featured it took over hosts, like in AvX?
In Fantastic Four #286 we are shown Jean's last moments aboard the shuttle, where she has a conversation with the Phoenix. The Phoenix explains that Jean's physical body is too badly damaged by the solar radiation to be repaired easily, which is why Jean needs to be placed in a healing cocoon. But the Phoenix still wanted Jean as a "host" and so duplicated her body and borrowed a small portion of her mind.
MarvelExplained Yep. Under "regular" conditions, Jean has been shown to be the only person capable of controlling the Phoenix Force without burning-out or going Dark (Rachel and Hope weren't "regular" conditions). Do you think Marvel will bring 616 Jean back any time in the next few years? I'd love to write that story!
I really appreciate and enjoy your videos; thorough, entertaining and well paced I would love to see a video focusing on the members - Jamie Madrox specifically. I am really looking forward to the new multiple man series coming this summer! .
cyclops was not an x-man back then. he left after jean grey died in the dark phoenix saga, met Madelyn, then tried to come back to the x-men to lead them, but lost out to storm.
Hey Rob, quick side note: during the entire roster change, when you sounded off all the new members of x-factor, you forgot to mention Havok as not only being part of the team, but that he was(& still is) the team's leader
Would love to see a Havok centred video. Is he Omega level? When and how did he die? Is there anything hinting at his return? It’s a shame there are so few videos on one of my favourite Xmen
Never got into comics but do remember owning some comics and enjoyed them. I love if Disney or fox did something with them. Perhaps something new? Always played idea with apocalyose a lot and sometimes like idea of x-favor being being the arch nemesis of him. X-factor was an interesting concept I love them to bring back
If you could re-cast the X-men movie franchise, which actors and actresses would you choose? You can choose any from any time. Past or present, living or not. I kinda feel like they got Nightcrawler perfect. Hugh has been ok as well. Dolph Lundgren (in his prime) as Colossus. Yul Brynner as Professor X. Angie Everhart (in her prime) as Jean Grey. Ben Affleck as Cyclops. Grace Jones (in her prime) as Storm. Who would you choose?
Yul Brynner as Prof goes without saying. Short and ugly guy like Colombo as Wolverine. 1960s Christopher Lee as Magneto. Sharon Tate as Jean Grey. 80s Kyle McCaughlin as Cyclops. Malcom McDowell as Night Crawler. That guy from the Sly Stalone wrestling movie as Colossus. Storm I'm not sure. Kitty Pryde would be young Nathalie Wood.
Jamie Hitt funny I thought about Bronson too. Rogue has to be spunky and southern. not sure who could do that. Gambit, french icon Alain Delon in his younger days.
i got joel edgerton for wolverine! the others are pretty much can be casted as anyone these days although freakin michael fassbender is the best magneto yet i feel someone can be a better as magneto.
I’m certain X-factor will come to the big screen, Marvel would have exhausted a lot of their IP’s & if the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant Man and Dr Strange have had big films I don’t see why they can’t make an appearance in a future X-Men/Deadpool/Avengers film. Their characters have an interesting backstory too
X-Factor sounds so much cooler than X-Men I got issues 1-4 and 15 and 19 I'm planning on getting the series up to the point where they introduce Archangel which i prefer him as just Angel with the feathered wings his friend was such an asshole to have his wings be taken away.
It would be nice to have a movie where Famke Janssen and James Marsden are the main characters. I love Hugh Jackman, but I Love cyclops more than Wolverine. Anyone else agree? We can totally have this movie now that Days of Future Past was made.
+Patrick Darge Nah mate, then it would be a movie that actually has a decent story instead of the usual pew-pew voooosh all action no brain hollywood crap that superhero movies are nowadays. To be honest i would rather see a movie that is 70% story driven, 20% action and 10% filler scenes than watch a silly roller-coaster type movie... Ah well, too bad.
Heck even a movie where Tye Sheridan and Sophie Turner are the main characters would be good. I know some people said that they believed Apocalypse was setting them both up 2 be the major characters in future films but I doubt it since James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence look to be going nowhere anytime soon.
Yeah I can see that happening they did great portraying Scott and Jean but as you said the veteran actors seem to be going nowhere and plus I feel they're most likely going to recast wolverine sooner than later because in everyone's mind (especially FOX) there's no X-men without wolverine... =/
Always liked Cyclops better than Logan myself. Loved their dynamic throughout Kyle, Yost and Rememder's X-Forces though. And everything that came in between. _House of M, Messiah Complex, Messiah War, Second Coming,_ etc.
See this right here? This is what us fans thrive on. Canon and continuity. History and backstory. Knowledge of the characters we've grown to love. The big-wigs in the boardrooms and the writers need to recognize this and do more to keep the fabric of the Marvel Universe intact for the readers. The worst part is when movie makers decide they know something better, like making Galactus a giant cloud. At some point, Stan Lee is just gonna have to go postal and strangle these people...lol.
Loved X-factor growing up, original and new team. Ice-man is my fav mutant of all time, but Multiple Man and Strong Guy were cool to follow.
I'm looking for strong guy stuff online rt now!! love this group
I started collecting X-Factor after issue 70 and beyond. When I saw that Havok was leading X-Factor, it was an instant sale for me. The stories were pretty good, too. Havok had such a tragic back story.
We need a part 2 with the second Xfactor team of Havok Polaris etc
Your videos have brought me back to the comic world!!! Wish I never left
I love the intro to this definitely have to bring it back it makes the video and Chanel feel immersive and feel like a complete cool mini dock
6 years subscriber here Rob Jesus Christ this opening are nostalgic hahaha
Thank you for dropping this nerd knowledge on me. I just picked up Marvel essential X Factor vol 1 & I was real curious where it took place. now I have a better understanding and I think I'll enjoy this book a lot more.
Thanks for making this video. I've been interested in learning more about the X-Factor team and how they were formed.
The amount of team members that came and left from the different "X" teams during that whole time is crazy. Even after Gold and Blue teams were established.

This would be awesome in a movie
Henri-Ansel Vallee it would be complicated. But awesome though.
Read Fallen Angels 1-8 then watch “The New Mutants”. Closest we have right now
X-Factor is a pure gold in the Marvel Comic Universe...God bless Peter David for his works..
First time seeing this video and this intro is so cold 🥶
Growing up, I was actually more of an X-Factor fan than I was the X-Men.
You've just activated my X-FACTOR!
Your channel is great! You really put alot of hard work into it. Keep up the good work.
Hey Rob, I want to begin by taking my hat off to ya and saying good job with your channel bud. I find it to be highly informative and definitely nostalgic; my childhood rocked! Gawd I miss these old intros.
Great into music
How strange. I was certain that "X-Factor" was the term for a power-boost during the "Fate of Two Worlds" event in my battle against Galactus.
Seems like the movies could easily adopt x-factor into the continuity, and keep the old cast/characters in a mentor/search and rescue capacity. Sounds really neat to me =P.

I need a 2023 animation series. Great Story's that need to be told.
X men 97
I don't understand the reveal that Jean survived. So according to this the Phoenix does not take over a host but recreates its phyiscal form? So why have all the other times the Phoenix has been featured it took over hosts, like in AvX?
Schrödinger the cat It is just in this instance. It was just a way for Bob Layton to bring her character back.
Chris Low Oooh thank you so much! I knew things couldn't be that shallow. ;)
Chris Low It duplicated her mind perfectly to the he point that Jean's "humanity" won over against the Phoenix Force.
I love Romita Jr.
anyone knows a DC explained channel? it would be awesome to watch those kind of videos too.
+Rick Grimes
He has DC comics explained as well mate. You didn't look hard enough. Yes there are not many but they are there.
Dangerosu hey mate, look at the year when i posted it. u didnt look hard enough.
Brilliant as always, thank you Rob.
Someone PLEASE tell me the name of the outro music/instrumental!!! I need that! That is fire!!!
I really appreciate and enjoy your videos; thorough, entertaining and well paced
I would love to see a video focusing on the members - Jamie Madrox specifically. I am really looking forward to the new multiple man series coming this summer!
.
Lol glad I checked TH-cam. Thanks for adding to my insomnia :)
I've always loved x-factor it's an underrated series
Can you do Fear Itself?
Love these brief history videos I just back in to collecting and Im in love with the X-Factor issues an there fairly cheep
that first run of X-factor is awesome
Can i just say you have the best intro in all of youtube.(whats the songs name?)
Louise Simonson would not have plotted a crossover with Generation X, as Gen X didn't debut until well after she left X-Factor
cyclops was not an x-man back then. he left after jean grey died in the dark phoenix saga, met Madelyn, then tried to come back to the x-men to lead them, but lost out to storm.
i hope eventually he will do a video on the x-men/x-factor inferno saga.
p.s. of course it will be a while if it does happen.
Good to hear from you rob hope you're doing alright bud
The best iteration of Monet St. Croix ❤️👑
This intro was great...what happened to it??
Her return made sense to me & they did reference the cocoon in The Last Stand. If anyone listened carefully.
Apparently I wasn't listening carefully. Please explain...
Professor Xavier says her body was put in a telekinetic cocoon from all the damage. SO basically her powers shielded her from dying.
Hey Rob,
quick side note: during the entire roster change, when you sounded off all the new members of x-factor, you forgot to mention Havok as not only being part of the team, but that he was(& still is) the team's leader
You gotta go back to that intro loved that and that song too
Hey Rob, again really like the intro song in this video. Consider bringing it back 🤙🏽. Maybe at the end with the Rob Corps honorary mentions
Agreed. I miss this intro song!
Cameron Hoge represents as Beast's attorney in the animated series. Later represents Leader on Genoaha.
I love the intro music!!!
your intro is smooth!!!
Would love to see a Havok centred video. Is he Omega level? When and how did he die? Is there anything hinting at his return? It’s a shame there are so few videos on one of my favourite Xmen
I like the government team with wolfsbane, polaris and havok would be great for a movie or tv show.
That's some speed reading here :D
OK, this video was good, but you skiped so much after issue 71... Val, the government running X factor, Heck one of my big requests is Wild CHild...

Johnny Skinwalker Like Charles Bronson for Wolverine maybe? I've always had trouble trying to picture who would play Rogue.
Rick Grimes Edgerton is so overrated. The guy has a good agent, that's pretty much it. Also he's too tall for Wolverine.
I really like your opening song.
Do you have a Multiple Man video? Im trying to find one I've been reading 2005 Xfactor. And loving it.

It has begun!!!
Dope music at the end!!
Damn this would have been cool way to introduce X-factor after Dark Phoenix and the return of Jean.
GRreat run...light on Wolvy tho
It is time we need Guido Carosella Strong Guy. My favorite X-
Next to Wolverine, and banner he is beyond nuclear.
X-factor investigations next, please! :)
Nice track at the end..
another great one
another great classic team
Do a Punisher Marvel Explained
I really miss this music on your videos.
just throwing it out there, any chance youll be doing a thanos imperative vid
Just throwing out as a suggestion but I think a marvel timeline video would be pretty awesome?:)
I'd love to know more about Polaris, you'd think she'd have amazing potential...
That classic intro
Hey. Your Infinity Gauntlet playlist is missing the 2nd to last video.
X-Factor sounds so much cooler than X-Men I got issues 1-4 and 15 and 19 I'm planning on getting the series up to the point where they introduce Archangel which i prefer him as just Angel with the feathered wings his friend was such an asshole to have his wings be taken away.
Angel in a super hero costume says he gave up being a super hero
*Warren:* "I'm not a superhero anymore" _[while dressed exactly like a superhero]_ 😐😐😑
😇
X-FORCE PLEEEEEEEZZZZZ
could you explain more about onslaught
It would be nice to have a movie where Famke Janssen and James Marsden are the main characters. I love Hugh Jackman, but I Love cyclops more than Wolverine. Anyone else agree? We can totally have this movie now that Days of Future Past was made.
+Patrick Darge

My XFactor team is the #71 version.
Could you explain Crisis on Infinite Earths??
x-ternals was the disquise for x-factor
So they are like the ASPCA, interesting.
I can't help it , I still like the old intro .
so what is the intro song? the full version?
Nice uniform.
We need Havok Shatterstar longshot multiple man and Polaris
David I miss you
Factor vs Flight. Who wins?
Polaris .. another daughter of Magneto?
Yes, scarlet witch, quicksilver and polaris are all magneto's children. Only polaris has similar powers to magneto.
ahh ok :) shes the wife of Havok ?
SLITTHROAT13 There was also Anya, but she died as a child.
See this right here? This is what us fans thrive on. Canon and continuity. History and backstory. Knowledge of the characters we've grown to love. The big-wigs in the boardrooms and the writers need to recognize this and do more to keep the fabric of the Marvel Universe intact for the readers.

Jamie Hitt Stan Lee Vs Hollywood! This needs to happen.
They nerfed Jean Grey OMG WOW.
im waiting for etrigan
What happened to X Factor team cypher?😅😅
I have a doubt and I really need an answer 😔. Why in X-Factor #1 Beast is blue and furry and then in #2 he is human again?
what the name of the song in the opening
+carterdarron13 -The Heavy (band); (song) Short Change Hero
I’d rather see an xfactor movie w Jamie Maddox. Give it like a more grounded detective feel.
The video Rob Jefferson forgot that Warren and and Reed have superhero names. Why Rob why?
Name of song at video intro?
JPTyler5150 short change hero by the heavy
