    I adore Gambit because of his redemption story. Being raised by thieves, having lived a rough life, and still choosing to change, to become a better person - all without losing his personality. I adore that about him - he is roguish, he is smooth (a skill he needed to have, I feel, as a thief), he is street smart, and he is a good person at heart.
    It might sound corny but to teenager me, who made some mistakes and sorta hated herself for it... It was so motivational to read about a character who turned his life around like that. I really do like him.
    And his card schtick is so cool too!

I am totally convinced that he can easily become as popular as Wolverine when treated the right way.

  • @Renserin
    @Renserin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Add my voice to the crowd who first met Gambit in the 80's cartoon; I loved his accent and the fact that he used ordinary playing cards as a weapon. It's only now though, that I realize he was the perfect counterpart for Wolverine. Remy was always calm and figuring out the angles, while Wolverine was more impulsive and hot headed. It's a shame the comics never really recognized Gambit's potential the way the orginal cartoon did.

    To me Gambit and Cyclops are great examples of how the X-Men aren't actually a family like they say they are. For Gambit they nearly killed the man because he unknowingly took part in a massacre he tried to stop BEFORE he joined them. And Cyclops they loathed his existence because he killed prof x while being possessed by a cosmic entity that had possessed Jean like 10 times to which they gave a pass to.

    I swear I read a comic that Gambit was created by Mr. Sinister as he kept transferring his mind to clone bodies, just so he can challenge Apocalypse one day.
    It was a long time when I read it, but I know it's out there.

      I remember something like that too. That Gambit was made by Sinister using DNA taken from Jean Grey and Scott Summers to make the perfect mutant body. A body that Mr. Sinister would use for himself.

    Thank you for this! Remy is, by far, my favorite X-Man and this was very well done. I will admit to being a little confused for a moment as you were talking about events that took place in Gambit vol. 3 while Gambit vol. 1 was scrolling by on the screen...lol. Still, well done and thanks!

    Rob I like your channel but I dont agree that we shouldn't support comic shops. I also dont watch as much because I think someone who wants to see LCS's disappear doesn't get the culture and shouldn't be a representative of that culture.

    The only thing I like about Gambit is his powers.
    His relationship with Rogue doesn't make any sense because they have nothing in common and hate each other's guts and him being a Thief makes it even worse to find any interest in his character.

    I've spent most my life feeling a kinship to the character, and have done anything and everything I can to promote him cause he doesn't get the respect he deserves, I've personally talked to Claremont about him and the creation, meant as a clone for sinister to use should his body give out on him, then meant to infiltrate the xmen and destroy them one by one from with in, I've also brought up the fact that hes better then batman having had a similar childhood only Remy had to SURVIVE on the streets, among professional assassins and thieves, and being a THEIF (like catwoman) they tend to always stay one step ahead on any opponent, not to mention someone like penguin gets hits off on the bat imagine what a 52card pick up would do, and he taged gladiator with that, just saying gambit is much much cooler then even this awesome video showed

    For some reason I always imagine "sun" instead of "son" being the name of Gambit's super mutant form. I don't even know what "New Son" is supposed to mean but "New Sun" makes perfect sense for Gambit (Gambit explodes things; the Sun is basically a big explosion),

    A lot of ppl don’t know this but Storm and Gambit has the same existence as Angel the Angel and Nightcrawler the Demon with the exception that both Storm and Gambit are born with features that has nothing to do with their powers but a lot with their bloodline. Storm the Goddess and Gambit the Devil both are from a lineage of the supernatural.

    I like Gambit, but why does Excalibur have to be mutant centric? I always thought it was Brian Braddock's team. I would have loved to have seen Black Knight as a part of the roster.

  • @tylerscott2116
    @tylerscott2116 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Recently in excalibur gambit is given speedster level powers as a result of his Kinetic physiology. And honestly I'm here for it. It would be cool for it to be a Permanent change. Gambit can charge objects with Kinetic energy and move super fast with it as well is actually pretty logical. I remember playing XMen Academy on PS1 and when he went for his special he got a speed boost and insta grabbed his opponent with static electricity and kinetic energy charging around him. I hope the speedster dynamic is here to stay.

    • @Est_1.997
      @Est_1.997 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He should honestly be like Gojo from jjk > move super fast > be able to move objects and people super fast with just a touch, he also can control the inertia of an object so he should be able to pull off a pseudo infinity where anything with any kinetic energy would lose its impact upon touching him

    • @sambaker1121
      @sambaker1121 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's not that Gambit held back. It's that Marvel has never been very consistent when it comes to Caps powers and durability. One time he's taken out by a simple bullet, another what would amount to a very large bomb being strapped to his chest doesn't even phase him. Also, the X-men were kinda being intentionally shafted by marvel in that era.

    • @dclangst

      Gambit could have blown his chest through his back. Just like Tony in armor could punch a hole in him in Civil War People handle him with kid gloves when they’re trying not to kill him.

    Gambit is my favourite super-hero ever, but I hope he never gets a solo movie. I don't think there is enough of a story for his character to be on screen for the majority of 2 hours. However, I would like to see him in cameo roles in movies such as Deadpool or whenever the next installment of Wolverine is.
