2:23 Hope space engineer 2 has villager spawning to create colony's. No point building and creating in a lifeless empty world. That's the only reason I didn't get the first game.
Well I agree to certain extent. You could download mods to get more ships ai to spawn but as far as npcs go it's pretty much lifeless. If they do make it with a npc setup and a storyline I think it would be perfect
They have said that human npc4s wil be in the game, quests, more lore and story etc. but they also said that the game will be in Alpha for at least another 3 years and the npc's was one of the last things on the road map.
It will take at least 2 years until the game will be complete enough to call it halfway released. Until then its more of a narrow mvp. BUT it looks very promising. They do seem to have a way more orderly and efficient development process and architecture that will enable them to deliver clean slices of logic. Nice CI/CD and QA processes. Also the focus on delivering everything with clean client server logic in mind from day one is quite beautiful. Let’s hope that they can achieve really neat multithreading over time. Also the AI approach to populate the universe seems to make sense. But all of those slices like planets, Multiplayer, AI, Multithreading etc will take some time. So 2 to 4 years is realistic for a decently fleshed out product with the extensive scale aimed for.

My biggest problem with SE1 was the lack of any reason to do almost anything. There are very scarce NPCs, and there is no actual need to travel to other planets. I understand it is a Sandbox, but why would I need to play "survival" if I don't even have a purpose to survive? I really, really, really hope these will be addressed!

The engine, procedural voxel based map, advanced destruction and seamless experience are amazing technical achievements in the world of gaming, if they don't impose this limit, the game and physics calculations would break at speeds higher than 300 m/s, but in such game, the focus isn't even the speed. This is not another trash game released by a AAA company looking to milk your money, so for once, give the chance to an indie company that's actually saving the gaming industry from total perdition, like the other small companies.
Since the CEO of Keen seems to be obsessed with AI, it's most likely AI text to speech, the quality is most likely a result of them trying to hide it's imperfections through editing. I bet the dialogue itself was also made with AI, it's really clunky with how it progresses from trying to describe in universe concepts and lore to gameplay functions.

Human NPCs are on the roadmap for SE2
NPC would be a god tier add here ngl, making your own colony and hire npcs to manage space stations or even ride ships would be cool
