@@LaosHouseI'm starting at an Amazon delivery station in about two weeks and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the extra time I’ll have. I was thinking about trying DoorDash, but after watching this video, I'm having second thoughts. How long does it usually take to get approved for Amazon Flex?
10:11 80% FLEX packages are inaccurately labeled (envelop, Box, M, L etc). Best option is to use a SHARPIE and write down all the Stop No. Have 1-20 in the front. Takes around 10-15mins but can save you at every stop
Good advice! Our station puts yellow route labels on the packages, but we still have the issue of the app stating the package type is something it isn't
@41933 I end up having to change my route 75% of the time, but because the software does not show the route until one has scanned all the boxes, you never know what the final route is. BUT if you always use the Amazon provided route, then that will match with the yellow sorting labels on each box. The station affixes these to each package when they get them and divvy them up for drivers into routes. So the lowest number in the group of boxes you have is the first stop, etc. Makes it easy to put the correct boxes in the car in an order that makes sense. Only issue is when one has to change the route due to Amazon not understanding mountains, or ignoring the deadline that many packages have for delivery. Often the last package in the route will have a due time of an hour from the start of the route, so one has to change the route to get the package there in time or one is punished by the app for a late delivery.
I would rather work for UPS at peak season. I have worked for 2 seasons with them . $23hr daily ot pay and mileage reimbursement. Every year pay goes up . This year I think I'll be a UPS helper ..... But what ever works for you do it

The tips make up for the low base pay and not far away. Plus easier to get in and out the stations.

I used to do Flex but I'm an Amazon employee, can't do both at once. If you can snipe them, Whole Foods blocks are where it's at. Average $40 base pay for 2 hours and then plus tips, usually like $60-$80 for 2 hours.

Hats off to you, man. Brings back memories. Amazon should have you in training videos. 👍🏾 I did Flex and DSP. Flex is tough on your car but the flexibility is cool. DSP is brutal, especially in apartments. I lost over 20 pounds in the first few months. Battery saving tip: Keep your phone connected to a portable battery that’s in a side pants/shorts pocket (so you don’t have to keep taking it out and putting it back in), at least for the first half of the shift.
Used to deliver food during college. After insurance, gas, increased wear on your vehicle, increased maintenance costs. Plus, a few intangibles like dealing with traffic. It was not worth it. Good for quick beer money though. I don’t think I would ever do it again. I see you leave your car running while on delivery which I suppose is better on your starter. But depending on the area you live in, this might not be a smart decision. Have seen many people’s cars get jacked (break window, and drive off!). Massive headache to deal with aftermath.

You can’t do both they should have told you that 💯 it violate Amazon contract and have to pick one or get fired from both sooner or later. Also delivering and recording people property where you delivery too is violating contract also. Make sure they don’t find out
I got banned from Amazon flex for not making it to my shift on time due to a bad accident on the highway. Happened 2x to me over the course of three months. I lived 35 mins from the closest Amazon terminal and was almost all highway miles so a lot of times. I’d hit bad traffic.

In S. Florida it’s a disaster. Especially when everything is a gated community or places that for some reason can’t get to. And when you have to return things to the Amazon building you got items from is a big pain the ass. And a waste of time, energy and money. There are a ton of reasons why delivering for Amazon Flex sucks.
Before COVID I did Amazon Flex to make money working my way through university. Chill af job, listen to your music while you drive around dropping packages off, and I was able to pick up shifts around my study schedule. On the weekends I was usually able to pick up 2 shifts a day, the blocks never took as long as they estimated either so it almost always worked out to about $20/hour just to drive around.
With Sub Same Day routes (which is what you have here). I organize packages in alphabetical order, by street name. A-C front passenger seat and floor. D-F rear passenger floor. G-Z back seat and rear drivers side floor. Large boxes and overflow in the trunk. I write the house number on the side of the boxes in the trunk. By doing this I can knock out a 5 hr block in 2.5 - 3 hrs. (Depending on traffic etc etc).

If I remember correctly as this was nearly a year ago now, it was draining around 30%/h with just the app alone. I have never seen an app tank so much battery. Side note: If it says you're outside the delivery area, go into airplane mode.
I’ve been doing flex for a little over two weeks and have made $672 of extra income. I’ve only done it like six times so it’s pretty awesome side hustle. Gas is $48 total so a nice little bit of chunk change. I know during the holidays it’s gonna get busier and generate higher run pay. Can’t wait!
And I highly recommend if u wanna do these gig apps on multiple platforms… you don’t use your main vehicle use a spare one if possible that way u can make money and still have a car just in case
Gotta do what you gotta do. If you own a car expect to pay for gas and put miles on it. As long as the car is maintained and taken care of and not treated like crap. Good card especially Honda, SUBURU, Toyota and Hyundai. They’ll go soooooooo far into their lifespan. 🤷🏽♂️ just gotta be smart with it plain and simple.
I wouldnt be surprised if Amazon tries to slowly move exclusively to flex drivers. They have no overhead no van wear and tear, not on the hook for any accidents etc. I just wish flex paid better. We have overhead to worry about
Thanks for the video! Still waiting on my background check but will be starting soon! I'm tired of doing Lyft and think this will be better i know alot more is involved in this though.
im a amazon delivery driver for a company but I was told I cant do flex on the side because I work for a DSP I wish they would let me do the side hustle I would be very fast and make more money.extra money is always great.
$64 for 3-3.5 hours of work? Does that include the time it takes to drive to the Amazon location, pick up packages and load them up? What about gas? Food, drink? Is that included in the $64? Have you thought about the wear and tear on your car? Tires, brakes, etc. are subject to a lot of stress and wear. What about insurance? If you have an accident, your private car will be broken, which is exactly what you need. All that and the risk of breaking your private car for $64, hell no!
Have this message for long while *'Stay tuned! You're on the list'* .. its never given me a change from that despite traveling to more busy areas with my GPS on all the time, kinda BS (think its been close to years at this point)
I like doing flex cause it’s good exercise but I live an hour away from the warehouse and it’s hard to get the surges. I can’t do it for $18 an hour. Also, it’s hard on your brakes and transmission from the constant stop and go.
hey Chris, Thanks for making this video? Can you pls share how much are full timers making weekly or monthly doing such deliveries for Amazon after deducting the fuel cost?
Worked my ass of this weekend on DD, UE and a five hour Veho just now… car broke down in the middle of a roundabout - transmission breakdown. 2015 Chrysler 300S. Just as I was about to get ahead again… looks like another multiple thousand dollar repair 🧑🔧… needed a tow. Car wouldn’t go in any gear at all.
Damn those blocks pay rate suck. I was getting those $120+ blocks, but the SSD blocks around peak season can go up to $200-$400. I hate working at the DSP, but the flex was so much better. Under 40 stops (sometime less), no group stops, no cameras or extra BS. The only thing I hate is that you really don't know where those stops are going to be.
Once u pick up your packages and swipe to finish it takes u to your list of deliveries. At the top right of the list there is a scan symbol, u can press that nd manually scan each package and it will show u which number it is in the route. I do that and write the number on the package.
Hell yeah you really do live and breath deliveries! 😂📦 Great video Chris, tbh I might start doing flex too! Shoot we both live and breath deliveries 📦🏃
I stopped doing this because I kept getting the ugly dirt roads. Definitely not worth ruining your cars suspension for Amazon! I feel bad for the people that end up with that route since I stopped doing it and they are making payments on their cars lol
Apparently Amazon flex isn’t a thing in tampa I’ve signed up and been waiting on their list for millennium now Not even any local warehouse job openings which is strange considering going into holiday season
All these gig economy jobs are scams. It costs a minimum of $1/mile to drive a vehicle when you consider ALL expenses including gas, maintenance, insurance, depreciation, car payment, etc. If you drove around for 3 hours and maintained an average speed of 30mph, you drove 90 miles, costing you $90 and you only made $60 odd dollars. You're literally paying to work for Amazon, DoorDash, Uber, etc. Minimum wage for these jobs should be $1/mile plus $15/hour and even then it would suck. These companies are counting on people not doing the math and not realizing that they're literally paying to work for them. When someone wises up to the scam (or more likely, their car dies and they can't afford to buy another one), there's always another clueless person right behind them to replace them.
If you own a car you have to pay for that shit regardless. You’re obligated to pay for insurance and gas and you’re supposed to be responsible to maintain your purchased items. I understand what you’re saying and it does make sense but a lot of people do it for side cash. People like me who don’t care to pay for gas or owns his vehicle so mileage isn’t a question. It works and helps me get that extra money.
@@alz397 You need to understand that you're not MAKING any profit by doing these gigs. You're literally selling part of your car while working for free. If you need an extra $50 in order to pay rent that month then by all means, do DoorDash or whatever to make that extra $50, but don't fool yourself into thinking you're making money. It costs $X/mile to drive a car regardless whether you're already paying for insurance for the car. It's true that insurance is going to cost exactly the same no matter how many miles you drive the car but that's not true of any of the other expenses.
@@alz397 Yeah that's what they're hoping for. Most people are financially illiterate and all they see is they "made" $150 that day and only had to put in $50 worth of gas and they assume they made $100 in profit. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Uber is literally getting FREE labor because if you were an employee they'd have to be paying for the car. In a lot of cases they don't even pay enough to cover your car expenses. If you're being paid less than $1/mile to drive, you're not even breaking even on your cost to drive the car. Most people don't realize this until their car breaks and they can't afford to fix or replace it and they wonder why. It's because you sold your car a little bit at a time for less than its value. Like I said, if you're really poor and you need some emergency cash to pay rent or something then by all means, sell a bit of your car in order to pay that bill, but don't do it any more than what's absolutely necessary because you're being royally screwed.
I live in the DMV and I did this and quit after 3 days, It is good if you want to make extra money but for me I'm an older female and they had me going everywhere including down town DC when there is nowhere to park. I remember getting my cart and a message came across my phone I was late on a delivery but I had not left the warehouse yet. Like I said it is good but just not for me.
Keep in mind working a full time job - especially as an Amazon delivery driver - is very time consuming and exhausting. So don't expect weekly uploads like from other TH-camrs 😁
Idk. The debate comes on tonight. This will be my first day. I got scared and didn't pick a block yet. Let me just do Instacart for the rest of the day. Gas is high. Amazon not paying for miles? On God that's a stretch.

I'd personally prefer to drive for amazon from my own car instead of driving for a dsp for a lot of reasons
i used to work for flex using my electric scooter
hey Chris,
Thanks for making this video? Can you pls share how much are full timers making weekly or monthly doing such deliveries for Amazon after deducting the fuel cost?
...thanks for sharing as always. My question is, how to avoid dogs? Not a fan, at all. Was bitten in my youth. So, I avoid at all costs.
Yell out, “Amazon” as you approach the door and do a little honk as you arrive. We do this for UPS and dogs will reveal themselves 99 of the time.
bite the dog back!
you call call the customer on the app or marked the package undeliverable due to dog
Always watching from Ghana 🇬🇭
Worked my ass of this weekend on DD, UE and a five hour Veho just now… car broke down in the middle of a roundabout - transmission breakdown. 2015 Chrysler 300S. Just as I was about to get ahead again… looks like another multiple thousand dollar repair 🧑🔧… needed a tow. Car wouldn’t go in any gear at all.
Thanks for this video I just get approved I was a year and 2 months waiting list 😅 but finally
I deliver Pizzas as my side hustle at Lous, one of my colleagues said they might go back to Amazon Flex.
I see why not. Do it on your free time
Once u pick up your packages and swipe to finish it takes u to your list of deliveries. At the top right of the list there is a scan symbol, u can press that nd manually scan each package and it will show u which number it is in the route. I do that and write the number on the package.
Hell yeah you really do live and breath deliveries! 😂📦 Great video Chris, tbh I might start doing flex too! Shoot we both live and breath deliveries 📦🏃
gotta get on that grind haha
I got a block with $86 and 3 hours route and I just needed 2 hours to complete it 😊
Great video as always Chris! Been a long time lurker
I appreciate you
Lol about type R comment.... I totally thought it was a Type R in the first video I seen on your channel.
Like the content and the grind!
something you def have to take into account is the amount you take away after accounting for gas
They dont allow you to do flex and work for amazon at the same time he probably found a loophole.
I work at an Amazon fullfillment center and I love my job
My boys an Amazon lifer 😂
I stopped doing this because I kept getting the ugly dirt roads. Definitely not worth ruining your cars suspension for Amazon! I feel bad for the people that end up with that route since I stopped doing it and they are making payments on their cars lol
I signed up for Amazon flex under a different email but been on the waiting list for over a year
Maybe around december you should check
$64 for 3 hours yeah thats not Worth it. By the time you count your miles and gas it end up doing this job for free.
Apparently Amazon flex isn’t a thing in tampa I’ve signed up and been waiting on their list for millennium now
Not even any local warehouse job openings which is strange considering going into holiday season
The waitlist in most Fl is 2 years
Amazon flex is the best side hustle ! I work 7 days week the best shift is in the morning 3am. your welcome!
I need to do a 3am graveyard shift
4am here!🔥
I do 3:30AM-7:00AM shift everyday.
How much pay u?@@Melly_Mac
@@LaosHouseit is true that if a person want to return their package you have to go back in your own car and pick it up with no pay?
60 bucks around 3 hours, discount expenses ect. Yeah about 14 an hour or so(pulling numbers out of the a s s) it’s is flexible though
I respect the grind 💪
Use a beater car you don't care about just for work that gets good gas milage.
@@thelbtlover You do have very valid points. i guess its just the illusion of having "Extra" income. When you get caught up in it.
I thought DSP drivers weren't allowed to work for Amazon flex
Nice you got a mirror dash camera like me
Great Video Chris
Thanks Chris. It's been a while. hope you're doing well
I've been on the flex wait list for a few months now. Hopefully this upcoming peak I will get in.
I like to do the retail blocks since most of them are easy in my area
Love your TH-cam videos. Do more and more frequently 😁👍
😉
Keep in mind working a full time job - especially as an Amazon delivery driver - is very time consuming and exhausting. So don't expect weekly uploads like from other TH-camrs 😁
Of course, right away your personal auto policy is likely completely void, you’ll need to purchase coverage or a commercial policy…
Would definitely do this over Doordash/Uber if Flex was available in my area 😔
😔
Your channels awesome man! Daily videos bro
Funny I recognized north ish New Jersey immediately 😂
Idk. The debate comes on tonight. This will be my first day. I got scared and didn't pick a block yet. Let me just do Instacart for the rest of the day. Gas is high. Amazon not paying for miles? On God that's a stretch.
