I feel like the figure needed more detail on it, like the wings more bigger, mouth much sharper with the teeth, and tail longer when dragging Godzilla. But anyhow, I respect the design that Super 7 did.

Now that I've seen two positive reviews I'm definitely picking this guy up. I want godzilla on my shelf too, can't decide if I should go for burning or meltdown to face this guy
I personally would go for the meltdown just because îts such a unique model.
Well, Destoroyah is already dead when Godzilla starts melting down, so it makes more sense to get burning Godzilla to face off with Destoroyah. But melting Godzilla is a really unique and more interesting figure.
If you want my opinion, get the melting Godzilla if you can only get one. I think we’ll be getting burning Godzilla for as long as we get Godzilla figures, but I don’t think we’re nearly as likely to get more melting Godzilla figures - and even if we do, there’s no guarantee that they’ll look as good as the Super7.
They should've make the jaw articulated on a hinge. That way we won't get the closed mouth alternate heads, and those plastic can go to the beam instead. Like fr, most ppl would probably display their Destoroyah with the roaring head anyway. Even if they don't wanna do the hinge jaw thinggy, give us beam instead of a closed mouth head
Agreed. Apparently the reason why is it's a gimmick other companies don't do. It doesn't sway me into buying them.
I also agree because they gave meltdown Godzilla’s second head a jaw hinge so super7 can do it but it’s probably just laziness 🤷🏽
I feel like they don't do it because they would think it compromises the paint in the mouth if that makes sense.
Wait is Destoroyah actually the first Ultimates figure with a double jointed elbow? He looks like he has better movement than their Bruce Lee which is wild to me.
Destoroyah has always been my favorite monster. Something about his existence just spells impending doom. Great review, nicely detailed. I ordered mine a couple days ago and I'm excited as hell to get him.
My biggest concern is that even if this is a good sign that the Minus one Goji might actually be worth the money, the teeth scare the hell out of me. Minus one looks great in the promos but mostly for the eyes and teeth… but so did Destroyah so not sure what to think
Great review! Although I'm not digging how much thinner and gappy he is, he mostly looks pretty good! It's also a great way to save a lot of money since the shma is so expensive now

Funny aside, this video really helps me figure out if I really want this guy or not. Since I did miss out on both SH MonsterArts Destoroyah as I didn't start collecting those types of figures till 2019. Thanks, brother.
I think this figure is GREAT step in the right direction, I don't think the sculpt of this figure is superior to the SH Monsterarts version (OG or SCV) but I do think for the price point, it's a solid figure and I can see where a big chunk of the budget went. Definitely the biggest and most imposing articulated Destroyah we've seen so far. I hope Super 7 can keep this up with SpaceGodzilla too. I find their stylized aesthetic to be fun but so far none of their Toho Ultimates have wowed me up until now.
I never had a "blood tax" until I got the SHMA Minus One. That figure is a freaken weapon.
Mines was delivered during the polar wind chill. All i needed was a hair dryer on high heat for 1 minute. Fixed him up good. I love this figure. I skipped out on their other releases but got meltdown goji and him. I recommend both
Absolutely loved mine! He's very photogenic and can pose just like the fighting games. Wouldnt mind a more purpley deco to reflect those games too sometime in the future. Some joints were tight on mine but for me the joints seem to have slightly fused together so i went through the spaces of them with a sharp hobby knife and then applied a little bit of heat.

What i like the most from this figure is the foldable wings
This is my all time favorite kaiju of the whole tokuyatsu genre as a whole and im so happy he came out like he did i just hope super 7 makes more improvements on the figures they send out hopefully we get a good orga and the space godzilla is good
Im so glad that my copy only needed a bit of hot water for the tail only. Also, i don't know if they're still making them, but the teeth on mine are well painted, unlike others that I've seen.
Definitely getting this crab guy sooner or later. Just wish the price was the same as Super MG

Yep I'm definitely getting him. Such a dope figure. Plus it's nice alternative then paying arm and leg for the monster art ones. Can't wait to get my hands on this demonic crab boss. Superb video as always my dude.
Fr bro, MonsterArts been dropping the ball lately. Honestly would love to see what Hiya Toys could do with other eras of Godzilla. Their Monster-verse figures so far have a way better likeness too.
@DaDarkMagician Indeed. Plus, they have so many Kaiju they can use in their back catalog but refuse to make them when fans have asked for these guys for years. I know Godzilla is the star, but how come we haven't gotten Titanosaurus or Orga yet ? Like I know, it takes time to make them, but damn I think we waited long enough.
Or how about doing more reissues for older molds so we all can get one. At least reuse older molds that people want, like Kiryu Kai, Moguera, Destoroyah, King Ghidorah 91. There are so many options to pick.

I'd say my biggest issue with a lot of these destroyah figures is the cartooney red wings, I wish they did more shading or something on them or something because it just feels odd to me.
the left hip joint on mine is frozen solid and I've been debating hitting it with boiling water, because warm water and the hair drier just haven't been enough. Still, that one minor complaint aside this has been my favorite Super7 figure by a country mile. I know he doesn't scale with SHMA figures, but I love posing him against them anyways. I love how e towers over them and looks so imposing.
Personally, I think this Destoroyah is a big win for me. I am extremely satisfied with this release.

Destoroyah is my favorite Godzilla villain of all time. Really would love shma to just re-release him as I wasn’t collecting when he released but I doubt that’s going to happen. This might be the next best thing. Thanks for the review!
I absolutely love my Destroyah figure. I saw other reviewer say like you that the teeth are the only downside. Still it's a beautiful figure to have!
I was actually able to get all limbs, appendages, and heads on with little trouble. The tail was another story but I was able to get that on too with no heat or hot water. Nearly shredded my palms though. Also FYI but if any of you are having trouble getting the tail to bend and curl the same way in both directions, it’s because some of the sections of the tail are not aligned properly. I really like this figure. I missed out on the SH versions which was why I decided to get this one. Speaking of which, Steven which would you say is better of the SH Destroyahs? The original or the special color version?
I got this figure as well and had the same issues as you and everyone else also. Except in my case, I didn't need to use boiling water just hot water and I was able to attach the wings, tail, and head. So I am thankful about that, but I do agree with the lack of accessories and the design on the teeth.
Either I do like this figure, also it's pretty sharp, like really sharp on some or most areas. Anyways, aside from that I do like this figure but I would not pay $130 again for another figure like this one or the same one.
Destroyah isn’t my favorite, but I think if I ever wanted it I’d go with this figure.
Atleast destoroyah's tail isn't as pre-angled as the neca shin godzilla...

I used my hairdryer on it until the plastic was rubbery soft, and I still managed to slice my hand open when putting the tail on. The legs are kinda loose on mine, not to the point it ruins it but it’s still weird that everything else is so tight but the thighs are floppy??
My only real gripe is the wings...they look frumpy. But I love the head and paint. Will this one replace my SVC SHMA? ...no, but this is a nice alternative to those that missed the Monsterarts, and even kinda fits in scale with your NECA and MA, if not a bit too big. I do think he's too small for S7's Godzillas tho.
The proportions remind me of that game on the nintendo wii, I like it.
My only problem with this figure is how gap-ey it is
Given how bulky Destroyah is as a kaiju i wish that the gaps in the joints could've been handled better, especially in the torso
The torso in general feels thin compared to the diameter of the waist piece.
Heat gun is paramount and i think an easier option than boiling water.
I like it if the jaw open and close but easy somewhat way to get this thing

How does it scale with hiya godzilla? Same size or a bit bigger?
My only problem with this figure, its just too "plastic shiny" but there's nothing but a few bucks could do by sending it to a custom painter.
The Skinyer proportions of dest reminds me a lot of the Godzilla generations maximum impact dest

Hey Steven, have you ever tried using a heat gun? I use it for shaping PVC and other things for Halloween decorations, so it should output more heat than a hair dryer and might be less of a pain than the classic boiling technique.
No, don't have one. I'm good with the tools I have and considering the extreme situations I've had have been few and far between, I'm not real concerned.
Edit: also, I try to always advise against *boiling* since, to my understanding, it can damage plastic at the molecular level. Blow dryer or hot water, usually hot tap or microwave for 30-60 seconds works

Do you have a video of the boiling water technique? I've not had to do the warm water one yet, mainly use a hair dryer when i need to, but boiling water, never, plus i don't know how to do it safely.
Step 1: Get pot
Step 2: Put water
Step 3: Heat to boil
Step 4: Safely dunk part in boiling water using tongs or something else -OR- safely pour water over part
Step 5: Attach part
Step 6: ???
Step 7: Profit

How does he scale with Monsterarts Destroyah (either version)? I've been debating on getting him but when they took out the horn effect. I've been hesitant to order one for fear they're gonna go "convention" exclusive with said effect part.
Entirely different scales, Super7's stuff towers over SHMA.
Officially he doesn't scale well at all since Toho says that Destroyah is only 120 meters tall, but Destroyah's been fairly inconsistent in depictions of his height. If you have the Monsterarts KiryuGoji he actually scales very well with the Super7 Destroyah if you are going with the Godzilla: Cataclysm comic where Destroyah is depicted as being almost twice as tall as Godzilla.

So I don’t get it.
They said they were doing the head swapping gimmick instead of just articulating the jaw because it would allow them to prioritize the detail on the headsculpts and get them looking as nice as possible.
So then… why do the teeth look so shit? If you’re going to sacrifice articulation for the sake of detail, you should probably try to make the detail actually justify sacrificing the articulation.
Alternatively, JUST ADD A FUCKING JAW HINGE.
I do think this is the best Kaiju figure Super7 has done so far, but I still wouldn't say it's worth the money. I don't think SH Monsterarts figures are worth the money either. The amount of paint that's on the figure and the colors used is very good, but the quality of the application of the paint leaves a lot to be desired. There are also a few parts that seem like they weren't properly weathered and seem to stand out as too brightly colored; namely his hands, feet, wings, and some of his spikes. The sculpt leaves a bit to be desired compared to the Monsterarts, and his wings are absolutely puny. He looks like when a cartoon character is fat and has tiny wings for comedic effect.
I will say that it is a good figure, whereas the rest of what Super7 has done has ranged from mediocre to genuinely bad. But it's not a great one. I just don't think it's worth $109. Godzilla merch in general is way overpriced, so in that context $109 might seem reasonable, but compared to toys in general it is not. I would consider picking this guy up for maybe $70 at most.

It is just overpriced, like every Super7 figure. That's it. I wonder how deep can Hiya go with the Heisei era, if they can touch other kaijus besides Godzilla then S7 will be out of the game.
EARLY BIRD
Destoroyah for me was never a favorite Kaiju....for me everything with Destoroyah is too much to be a timeless classic. He looks like a design from a child...which puts everything in it what it find cool. Don't get me wrong...i love the movie...i love the heisei era but for me Destoroyah is the weakest kaiju, design wise. Just my opinion.
