Thank you for making a video about this! It's so amazing to see a couple (especially a couple of color for me) share and advocate for couples counseling. This video has really helped me get excited about finding a counselor for my partner and I to work with. We're not engaged (yet) but I do want to have majority of the hard conversations before we get to that stage.

What would you suggest if the guy you are dating refuses premarital counseling?
That would be a red flag for me. I would ask him why he is refusing marriage counseling. Maybe he has a misconception about it. If he’s willing to share why he’s opposed to it; hopefully it’s something that you can help him dispel and move forward with a marriage counselor who is the right fit for the both of you. Thank you! Praying he’ll be down to give it a try. Maybe ask him to try just one session and if he doesn’t like it then you won’t make him continue. He’ll love it! We searched online through psychology today and thumbtack.
