The chain lift POV was from an early morning test run with an empty train so it's just going to look a lot slower. Hopefully a better pov comes out soon
@@CobbleBompster What I said goes for every coaster, and especially every RMC. I really don't see how it won't go for this too, especially with this being all new trains
I don't care if it's slower if it stays open. If I come all the way from Michigan to go to Dollywood some day, I'll be much happier with a nerfed Lightning Rod than a closed one.
If the train crests the lift at the same speed, then it will be the same. You can not change the effects of gravity. Cold bearings, cold steel, cold grease, etc will contribute to a slower ride. It's like the whole Beast argument. "They slowed it down more." Actually, no they didn't. It's the same, just a different brake system.
This was an early morning test run with an empty train. Also at the start, this comparison is very deceiving because the train in the launched pov reaches the one in the chain lift speed before it disengages with the lift. I do think it crests slightly slower, though it’s very slight (have to compare the slowest speed at the top of the launched pov to the chain lift speed)
either way you can tell that itis completely different speeds going over that drop, and hangtime, literal hang time on a wave turn. i loved this ride but u gotta stop lying to yourself. heavy train or not you're going a lot slower still.@@jacksongrace
@@Dakotakemna I do admit it's going significantly slower (probably shouldn't have said "very slight"), but I've heard that it's unnoticeable after the drop and wave turn, and that it might actually go faster (could be due to train modifications). However I'm most just guessing that it was going faster than they had expected and was really just about the same speed, but still. It definitely is a shell of what it used to be, but the chain lift is an overall positive if this is true, we just have to wait for some other POVs.
I’ve never been on this, but I knew this would be the case after hearing their plans to replace the launch. I cringed the whole time I watched this. What an unfortunate outcome. I feel disappointed for the real fans of the ride with its current setup and speed. This to me is the equivalent of trim breaks on a ride. Sorry to see this Dollywood. I know you tried your best.
@@Negative509 It’s nothing to do with your video. It’s the comments I’m seeing. It’s still really early in the season to make a good comparison. A lot of people see slower and immediately think the ride is now ruined, with some even saying it’s not worth the effort and that it should be torn down. That’s a poor outlook to have on a ride they haven’t even ridden yet.

Even though it looks like the chains lift version runs slower, the POV was taking early morning with no people, making it slower.
yeah and the chainlift one looks like its colder

Still looks fun.
🤣

@namevone Just no. People said the same thing with all the other versions of Lrod, and each time it's been proven false.
@@EmeraldBayMoviesall it takes is ElToroRyan’s video to show it’s faster when full 🤷♂️
As much as I wish I had ridden it with a launch when it was unreliable, I look forward to being more likely to get to ride it now.
at least it will be open
If you compare the speed after it crests the lift, they are very close
wow it is significantly slower

they should have made the lift hill taller so that it could build up more speed on the first drop so that the speed would be the same.
that would be cool
I’m pretty sure I can drive a golf cart up a mountain faster
I think everyone knew the ride would go way slower despite the park’s claims. Might have gone from a top tier RMC to a bottom tier

I agree, been saying that for a few years now. The ride was a failure.
