I absolutely loved the quest where man asks you to save his wife from bandits only to find out that his wife ran away and became the leader of those bandits which ends up with her giving you a ring that you return to her husband.
We can all agree that the crimson nirnroot quest is by far the best. The only thing that comes close to it is finding all of the unmarked unusual gems hidden all across skyrim.
I liked that one too , for the connection to Oblivion with Sinderian , I liked him in that game would have been cool to find him alive in Skyrim but wth everybody's gotta die...
@@TheRibbedDamascus yeah, in the final room if you run all the way through, you can find one on the ground. It happened on sse for ps4, so it might still work
I have to say my favorite quest in the Elder Scrolls series is the one where you basically play the villain in a slasher flick. it's a Dark Brotherhood quest in Oblivion, where you're sent to a house with like 4-5 strangers to murder them to death(Dark Brotherhood, what do you expect?), with an added bonus for doing so without being detected. I remember when I played it, I managed to convince one of the two remaining characters that the other remaining character was the killer, and they took them out. It's rather appropriately called "Whodunit?"
God I love that quest. I would have loved a "sequel" to it in Skyrim. Or little moments like where you can pick up that dead mothers head and one of the dark brotherhood mentions it before its revealed he's the bad guy. For some reason I just love little details like that with games.
Yea this one is absolutely one of the bests. Like someone said, too bad there is no sequel to it in Skyrim but if some people don't know, you can kill the cousin's emperor at her weeding in solitude (dark brotherood quest) by pushing some kind of statue / stone ornament on her head. Gives a nice Oblivion vibe, always reminds me of that other dark brotherhood quest where you gotta kill a guy in Bruma and make it look like an accident by dropping a stag head trophy on him. :)
"And you'll get to listen to Melka's hilarious hagraven commentary" When I first did this quest all I heard was her terrible, long, excruciating, irritating breathing

I messed something up on the hagraven one. I talked to the first one but didn’t free her initially, and proceeded to clear the cave and killed Petra. When I went back and freed her, she sort of rushed through the caves, saying some lines and sort of pausing to observe the dead enemies, only to arrive in the area with the dead Petra and be left standing there. Each time I return, Petra is lying dead with an arrow on her saying to kill her so I guess this mission ended up being a scrap 😂😢
Yea blood and ice is buggy you have to complete it before the civil war quest and the dark brotherhood quest otherwise key characters for this quest die and can't be interviewed
The reason why Blood on the Ice gets bugged is that Tova Shatter-Shield is tied to the quest. So if you kill her (or Nilsine, since she'll kill herself if you do that), it becomes impossible to complete. Also, the "right" way to complete the quest is to go straight to Wunferth the Unliving. Then he won't get arrested incorrectly.
Nah, going to the steward makes the quest so much better, because you are led to believe that the quest is over, only to later discover that it is not and that you arrested the wrong guy. Sadly, I missed this part on my first playthrough, because by the time I did this quest I was a level 80 mage with all the top spells and enchanted gear, and I was already arch mage and had killed Harkon, Alduin and Miraak, so I figured I didn't have to be afraid of some court wizard, necromancer or not. So the quest was rather underwhelming for me without the plot twist.

@@JohnnyFromVirginialove that, you're like, this is just a little tower, can't be too hard. Then the interior loads and there's five branching pathways. I've realized this sounds sarcastic, but it's genuinely one of my favorite bits in Skyrim (and equally fallout) just the most unassuming buildings having the most interesting quests/stories involved, and if not that, just some sick ass architecture to look at.
I didn't know about Rise in the East until seeing this video and after looking in Windhelm for 30 minutes I finally found the EITC at the docks and WOW THAT QUEST WAS AWESOME!
I knew about Illia for years. I memorized her location on the map and get her as a companion every time I make a warrior type character as a mage backup. she's mad OP
In my most recent play through I joined the forsworn, got the god armour then killed the leader. Turns out you get both rewards and the silver bloods that greet you get murdered too.
That quest frequently pisses me off because for some reason when I escape the blacksmith (both of them) join the fight, get killed and I can no longer trade there anymore. Happened the last 3 playthroughs
I think The Man Who Cried Wolf and The Wolf Queen Awakened are probably the some of the best quests in the game. The events of the quests have world-shaking possibilities and it centers around one of the most legendary villains in the history of Tamriel. It's bizarre that it's just a sidequest.
I know it's been 5 years but anyways I did the quest once a while ago and really didn't take much notice. But on a subsecquent playthrough I found and read the bio of Potema and it was so cool and then did the quest and really enjoyed it so much. I think you are a right. Plus the ancient vampire that spawns there in the catacombs is a great dead thrall.
Delayed burial is definitely a fun one. Technically, it isn't directly affiliated with any faction quests, but it is fun to see Cicero's reactions to it once you meet with him in the Dark Brotherhood.
I had never actually joined the Dark Brotherhood before seeing people talk about having Cicero as a companion. I only knew him as the guy that a farmer seemed to hate for no apparent reason
I haven’t done loads of side-quests as I’m new to the game, but I really love getting the ring of Hircine with that werewolf dude. It’s especially fun if you are already a werewolf as you can go on a killing spree together, and then get unlimited transformations!
The beginning to "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" when you can kill Astrid, is my favorite. Not sure if it counts as a side quest, but I still love hearing her gasp "well done" when she dies.
Did you know if you go to the old dark brotherhood sanctuary, you can bring Astrid back to life using dead thrall! Plus, every time you kill her she says thank you!
8:25 The perfect Steward for your house! :v I love the Fort Frostmoth quest, just for the implication that Neloth and his rogue apprentice put a Heart (of Lorkhan) Stone into an Imperial commander, driving the man xenophobically berserk. _They made another Pelinal Whitestrake. In a mushroom. With a pile of scraps!_ Red gem in the chest, half-mad revenant, living in a dreamworld of war. All that's missing is the robotic arm with the man's titular white laser beam.
I discovered the East Empire Company one on my first playthrough and then couldn't find it for literally years. I had begun to think I'd dreamed about it (not entirely unlikely for me) but nope, it's really there. Something to note about Blood on the Ice - you can tell Wuunferth about the amulet and journals after speaking to Calixto and spare one more life, you won't have to wait for a second person to die - he'll figure it out without you having to go to jail.
Another great video Nate! I love this series! As a fun side note, when entering Japhet's Folly Towers for the East Empire Company quest, if you go to the very bottom of the tower, through a locked door you will find a very deceased Japhet, along with his journal telling you how Japhet's Folly came to be, and a treasure chest with some nifty loot in it :)
One of my favorite missions in Skyrim was "A Night To Remember." Just the traipsing around Skyrim trying to figure what in Oblivion you got up to one drunken night. It's also one of the few Daedric Item quests I actually enjoy.
I stumbled across that rise in the east quest one time on XBox360 and never knew how to do it again, for the longest time I was convinced that I had imagined it, I'm so glad I found this video to assure me that I'm not just crazy!
I actually don't think the stones of barenziah was a bad quest. For one you can get the stones really quickly by interacting with one several times quickly, thus getting 2 or 3 stones from one location. And the part where you get the crown is actually fun imo because you go through the ruin finding out what happened to caravan and seeing the ghost. Its a fun little mystery in its own right
And even if glitching isn't the thing of the player, then all the locations are listed online, so it's just about writing it down and then go on a hunt for them.
Illia is actually someone i go out of my way to recruit, I like to use her as a steward at my steading. The sensation of actually helping someone turn their life around feels remarkably good.
I like alot of the quests but I think my favorite has to be Lost to the Ages, Blackreach and the crimson nirnroot, and after the DLC I enjoyed the Snow Elves area to get Auriel's Bow, I just like to go there and explore honestly.
Lost to the Ages, exploration, mystery and three possible rewards that give this quest a lot of replay value. My favorite is the Aetherial Crown, allowing to have the power of two Standing Stones, making very interesting combinations.
Man! I've logged hundreds hours of play on multiple characters and different types of play and I've never even heard of the first 3 quests. Done the last two multiple times, but I still can't figure how I've missed those 3 quests. Baffled, yet thankful for this video!
The entire dark brotherhood quest line has to be my favorite ^v^

I have nearly 1000 hours in the game and haven’t gotten past talking to Paarthy the first time. The side stuff is so much more fun. Plus the VA is atrocious.

i'm guessing she disappears if you don't use her as a follower before leaving. i've used her as a follower, then sent her on her way, and months later went back to the tower and got her to follow me again.

I've realized this sounds sarcastic, but it's genuinely one of my favorite bits in Skyrim (and equally fallout) just the most unassuming buildings having the most interesting quests/stories involved, and if not that, just some sick ass architecture to look at.
The Abandoned house in Markarth is an interesting quest as well, since you can acquire a really powerful mace, The mace of Malog Bal.
since it's bugged you can train enchanting on it by just continually recharging it even though it already has full charge lol
I didn't know about Rise in the East until seeing this video and after looking in Windhelm for 30 minutes I finally found the EITC at the docks and WOW THAT QUEST WAS AWESOME!

You should do the aethirum shard quest. That's my favorite. I like the fact that you have a ghost follower and that your diveing through dwemer ruins
If you do this, I recommend getting the follower Remiel as a mod
I knew about Illia for years. I memorized her location on the map and get her as a companion every time I make a warrior type character as a mage backup. she's mad OP
You need j zhargo hé is the best mage follower

As weird as it might sound, I actually accidentally stumbled across *"Rise in the East"*
Me too!
me too, as I was trying to rob the EEC
Me too lol
This is the first I've heard of it and I've got the platinum trophy for it and played off and on since release.
Me as well. Like Bem said, i was just robbing the EEC.
What about the fornsworn conspiracy?
That was a great one. That alongside the house with the Vigilant of Stendarr are the only things that make Markarth bearable
One of my favorite quests.
In my most recent play through I joined the forsworn, got the god armour then killed the leader. Turns out you get both rewards and the silver bloods that greet you get murdered too.
Soviet Bush Your a conspiracy!......Yeah,....I won that exchange.
My favorite mission is the one with the atherial shards. The name of the quest eludes me, but that is without a doubt the best side quest in the game.
Ray Zaffarese........the reward is the business as well
Lost to the ages is the name of the quest and absolutely agree
"No Stone Unturned" and "A Return To Your Roots" are the best side-quests tbh.
No they suck
They make my soul die
She DID say someone in the room had to die...
1. Breaking of Dawn
2. Arniels Endavor
3. Unfathomable Depths.
4. Dawnguard Relics (Runehammer)
5. Arvak quest.

Yes, yes, I get it, I'm here for Two Dawnbreakers and 3k gold from corpses, no shut up.
I have never done the quest with Illia until recently and now she's my favorite follower
Did you know if you go to the old dark brotherhood sanctuary, you can bring Astrid back to life using dead thrall! Plus, every time you kill her she says thank you!
Never knew that! Thanx!
8:25 The perfect Steward for your house! :v
I love the Fort Frostmoth quest, just for the implication that Neloth and his rogue apprentice put a Heart (of Lorkhan) Stone into an Imperial commander, driving the man xenophobically berserk. _They made another Pelinal Whitestrake. In a mushroom. With a pile of scraps!_
Red gem in the chest, half-mad revenant, living in a dreamworld of war. All that's missing is the robotic arm with the man's titular white laser beam.
I just learned I have the wrong man in jail with the last one...

Murdered to death is not getting old is it?
Murdered to aliven't
suffice to say
I hope not! :(
Jan Krajnc No
I discovered the East Empire Company one on my first playthrough and then couldn't find it for literally years.
I been playing Skyrim for years and never stumbled apon your 2nd side mission mentioned. This game can still give you something new.

I stumbled across that rise in the east quest one time on XBox360 and never knew how to do it again, for the longest time I was convinced that I had imagined it, I'm so glad I found this video to assure me that I'm not just crazy!
The Markarth Prison Stint is definitely among my favorites 😁 !
Of you do a part 2 you should definitely mention Lost to the Ages. One of my all time favorite Elder Scrolls quests. Ghost waifu for life!
I like that one quest in where you had to try to escape Helgen quite early in the game.
I wonder if anyone else made it out alive.
I commented to bring you back to Skyrim, you cannot escape.
@@Spells_Val Haha. But Sims 4 and Pokémon helped me escape.
Its a fun little mystery in its own right
And the reward is really good
And even if glitching isn't the thing of the player, then all the locations are listed online, so it's just about writing it down and then go on a hunt for them.
Tbh if only there were multiple ones at the same location normally. Or like if the guild had 5 or something already.
I just got a mod that gave each stone a quest marker soooo much easier
Spook 1918 that works too if you have mods, but sadly I only have the xbox 360 and cant get mods :(

Top 5 side characters got murdered to death
I loved the ‘Rise in the East’ side quest.I didn’t even know that quest had existed until I stumbled upon it four years after Skyrim’s launch.
Lost to the Ages, exploration, mystery and three possible rewards that give this quest a lot of replay value. My favorite is the Aetherial Crown, allowing to have the power of two Standing Stones, making very interesting combinations.
Seems like Illia is the perfect wife i never married.

Hey Nate you ever cover Forelhost near riften. From a cult mass suicide, to dead draugr kids. This is one to talk about.
Excuse me, WHAT??? How have I not found this one yet??
Man! I've logged hundreds hours of play on multiple characters and different types of play and I've never even heard of the first 3 quests. Done the last two multiple times, but I still can't figure how I've missed those 3 quests. Baffled, yet thankful for this video!
The entire dark brotherhood quest line has to be my favorite ^v^
i really love those equipment items you get that boost your Thief skills. it makes Pickpocket MUCH easier to level.
-to be honest, i only level Pickpocket to get the "extra pockets" perk. +100 max carry weight! VERY helpful.
Top 5 sidequests...
*looks at main story line, unfinished*
"Yeah, I should do these side quests. That sounds more interesting. Screw the main story line. No one really finishes it"
I don't know if the Civil war is considered to be a main quest, but during the invasion of windhelm it bugged.. which meant that for the rest of the game it burned.
I have nearly 1000 hours in the game and haven’t gotten past talking to Paarthy the first time. The side stuff is so much more fun. Plus the VA is atrocious.
Honestly I just do it for the shout call of valor
Putting Potema to her well earned rest was my favourite!
Yoo that quest was sick, sad that nobody is talking about it

Never done the 2nd or 4th quests, and the hagraven one at the start of this video is one of my favorites. My all time fabe is the one where you get drunk with Sam.
I positively adored Deathbrand because it's just a good old-fashioned pirate treasure hunt. It even has a map with X's that mark the spots!
I accidentally started Blood On The Ice because I broke into Hjerim... swear it felt like I was gonna be jumped the whole time

OMG!!! I played the quest in dark light tower one of the first few times I played Skyrim and loved it and could never find it again. I thought I dreamt it. I was so mad that she wouldn’t follow me cuz I already had a follower and just walked away... I could never find her again after that. This has been one of my greatest mysteries for 8 years now!!!! Thank you
More than actively taking a role in a quest, I appreciate the story being told. Those are the best quests. One of them is Aventus Averino's black sacrament that you stumble across by accident.
Not gonna lie I thought I’d found everything interesting in my 7 years of playing Skyrim, but I hadn’t even heard of 4 of these quests
Literally just playing it the first time ever, not nearly finished main story, lvl 53 right now and i got all of these quest's already..
after all these years of playing and ive never completed or even heard of the first 4 quests on this list.
My favorite side quest is extremely small most people haven't even played it it's called Return to Your Roots
I've been watching these videos for a while because I love them, I love Skyrim and I've been waiting for a quest that I may have missed (I dedicated a big portion of my life to Skyrim for a hot minute lol). With this video, I finally found it (the East Imperial Trading company one). Thank you!
I love "blood on the ice"! So glad it made the list... And at number 1! AWESOME!

i'm guessing she disappears if you don't use her as a follower before leaving. i've used her as a follower, then sent her on her way, and months later went back to the tower and got her to follow me again.
Hey, I've been playing this game f o r e v e r and there were two side missions I don't remember doing! Wow, I'll have to give a try. Thanks Nate :)
I too discovered the rise in the east quest only about a year or so ago and it has become one of my favorites!
A good side quest (although short) is the one where you find wulf wild bloods brother who became a werebear
