Sorry that this video took such a long time to come out, I wanted to make sure it was done well so I’m sorry I missed an upload last week. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed it though I do have a question for you all. Did you prefer how I did my intro in this video with jumping right into a fact or do you prefer how I normally do my intros with the small pause at the start? Thank you all for watching!
14:32 Hey look, I made it! One more snake block useless fact: *On the blue snake block, the eyes are a bit more angled than the green snake block to indicate... they are more angry? I think that explains why they move faster than green snake blocks.*
@@gojaxsonYT69420 I'm not quite sure if any Koopas become Dry Bones, since Dry Bones seem to be slightly bigger. I wouldn't know though, I'm just a random guy in the comments section of an Odyssey Central video.
I have 2 facts: The Big mushroom and Koopa clown car image for its clear condition is cropped wrong. (All styles) Pokies in NSMBU and SM3DW have dust at the bottom of them.
11:21 my best guess is that since you jump off of the koopaling when you take damage, the game thinks that you are spin jumping off of the koopaling, and for a short time period, handles the ground pound animation like a spin jump anamation.
UseFUL Fact: Odyssey Central is one of a kind. Not joking bro. Your content is absolutely stunning. You rank themes, bosses, and even SEMISOLIDS. I cant even think of a youtuber that would do all this. Hence, this is why your fav youtuber!
Useless fact: Don't know if this is SMM2, I tested it for the 3ds version, but when you finish a level in the Super Mario Bros. theme, wait for mario to go into the castle. Once it goes back to editor (Don't go there yourself, just wait.), you'll see a short animation of mario walking out of the castle
At 0:28, the SMBW thwomp can be seen flip, remove the skull coaster and move the thwomp down 1 square. The bottom spikes are seen flipping as Mario moves on either side.
Fact: Normally in SMB1, SMB3, and SMW, Mario would downgrade to Small Mario when he falls in posion, or lava. But in NSMBU and SM3DW, it will show Mario's death animation with his current power-up. (Excluding Buzzy Shellmet, Spiny Shellmet, Cannon Box, Red POW Box, Goomba Mask, Propeller Box and Bullet Bill Mask.)
3:10 I found a glitch where you collect a power up right as you are about to go in the pipe, and for a few frames you can turn around and enter it backwards. I found this on accident while playing a level. Also, the power up comes from a pipe. I’m not sure you can recreate it
17:07 gaining a power up causes a short freeze-frame where the level checks if something is out of place. In smashes ‘wired mechanics’ this is apparent as the pow teleports to youshies mounth after gaining a power up. In this frame, the game thinks “hey, Mario shouldn’t be riding yoshi with that powerup, let’s take that away.” That’s why it doesn’t clear
In the 3D World style, some objects have really long animations when placed down (mainly Meowser). Because of this, you can do the Lanky Mario thumbnail trick with Meowser (and other enemies if their animation for being placed down is long enough).
Hey I have a question. Do you know if you can put lanky Mario in the thumbnail in 3D world? Because I’ve tried for 30 minutes and it’s pissing me off how I haven’t gotten it. Every time I have tried, it seems like I did it exactly at the same speed, or faster then the video did, and it doesn’t work. I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong, or if it doesn’t work in 3D world. I’d appreciate a reply if you see this!
10:06 Yeah, he uses NSMBW. His hair is a darker blue at the base in NSMBW, and it either had less of the dark blue at the base or uses a different blue. Alongside this, his tail and shell are ever so slightly different in terms of space between them.
12:36 Maybe it's because the Dry Bones Shell is more of a vehicle that changes Mario's moveset than an equipable piece of gear. Since neither the Shellmets nor the Star change Mario's power up state or moveset at all (his power-up stays when equipping these), they don't change his ghost sprite. Even though the Dry Bones Shell is like this as well, it does change his moveset so I guess that's enough to change the sprite. However, I don't know if this is the same for the Kuribo/Stiletto Shoes. I can't check right now if they appear in the ghost but I would assume they do because of the same reasons I say the Dry Bones Shell does. If they don't then maybe I'm wrong and it's another reason. Also I'm pretty sure the Clown Car doesn't show up (but it doesn't really change his moveset much at all anyways) but the Fire Clown Car doesn't appear either even though it does change his moveset, but maybe since it's just a form of the Clown Car it was really both or neither so they went with neither.
Here’s another one, in the snow theme, spawn a spike. Then as soon as the snowball appears, destroy it. The animation will still play even though the snowball is gone.
Yoshi's head overlaps mario because it's a separate sprite to make animating easier, just like in the original game (in that game also due to how sprite tiles worked and they saw it as an advantage) edit: (16:34)
Heres a useless fact, when in the editor, if you press an item at the top it will make a sound. If that item is not in your level yet however, then it will make that sme sound, just with a ding at the end!
17:56 You can actually do this with Meowser, when you place a meowser down, it’ll roar, you can save the level while he is roaring to get it in the level thumbnail
Dry Bones: the most overlooked, underrated, hated, unused (sometimes,) and underused Mario character ever! I love him, though! Give me some support with Odyssey Central, here! Dry Bones for Smash! Dry Bones is a winner! Dry Bones is the best! Dry Bones deserves more! Dry Bones rocks!
I had already discovered the backwards arrow pipe entry in my own testing but I think it could be an interesting mechanic for a puzzle where you can’t turn around.
Useless Fact: If you go to create a level in the area where you can load your levels, every time you create a new level in the slots the theme automatically sets it randomly
So funny story. Yesterday I was on a call with my friend (we were playing Mario galaxy) and at 1 point I misheard what my friend said. I thought he said dead guy bones and I was like bruh
12:34 the shelmet is a seperate sprite that's overlayed on top of the player character's sprite, whereas the dry bones shell is not. this is really odd but I can only assume that it was something they carried over from mario maker 1, but decided to do differently with the dry bones shell in smm2 great video btw these facts are really interesting
Odyssey! I have great news! In your first Useless Mario maker 2 facts video, you said that Mario 1 dry bones in sans. Sans is in smash as a mii costume. So that means Mario 1 dry bones is technically a Mii costume in smash! I hope this excites us all and you make a short video talking about this topic. So yeah, One of Dry bones' 5 forms from Mario Maker 2 is in smash. But due to them being the same enemy All forms of dry bones are in smash! TRUE DRY BONES FOR SMASH. It isn't the real dry bones, but kind of is!
This one's actually useful: Thwomps on tracks will not try to smash mario when there's ground above them, but when there's air above them, they will! Side note, a thwomp on a track will not keep moving on the track after it has returned from trying to crush you.
16:49 I think this is due to how whenever you finish a level by hitting the ribbon you can make it end when touching the edge of it but if you were to just run into the ending without the ribbon it will make you end the level after getting to the middle. So maybe instead of doing the Yoshi P-Balloon thing in the middle of the flagpole try doing it on the left side of it, I don't have the game so I can't test it for myself
11:10 I have a theory on why this happens. If you would be able to just groundpound on them, you would go through the koopaling and end up in the car, stealing it and posibly cheesing a lot of boss fights and levels. Therefore, it sends you upwards to prevent you from stealing the car and just flying off.
This one is barely useful, but there is a small difference between lava and poison. Basically lava cheep cheeps can’t be defeated by lava or poison projectiles fired by yoshi, poison cheep cheeps will be defeated.
Useless fact: Remember in the video when you talked about in the editor if you try to erase Mario or put him in a burner he will get scared? It turns out that if you do this in the SMB or the SMB3 theme as small Mario, he will sweat and shake, but he won’t crouch, even though you can crouch in these gams styles. This might be because in these original games, you could not crouch as small Mario. And in all of the other game modes, you will crouch because in those original games, you could crouch as small Mario.
I too pointed out the Snake Block Trail, but I guess I wasn't the first guy. However, Snake Blocks are actually global ground. So there is a kind-of useful fact, guess my fact is still not getting into this series.
I know this video is a little bit old, and you might never see this, but another interesting enemy that has a different icon with clear conditions is Lakitu in NSMBU. I’ve played this game for thousands of hours and I only recently noticed his peculiar icon.
