I own this laptop, the review perfectly showcases its (many) strenghts and (few) weaknesses.
It's a little bit too heavy to be used comfortably as a tablet, but its build quality is on point.
There's plenty of power, it's not easy to find a small and portable 2 in 1 this fast and versatile. Sure, you can't expect Red Dead Redemption to run at 60 fps at Ultra settings, but you can play many less demanding games without issues. For example, I play GTA V and Fortnite at 1080p with Low-Medium settings, and StarCraft 2 at Ultra settings.
As an engineering student, the possibilities enabled by the convertibility of the laptop and the pen make this device the perfect tool for studying.
All in all, this is the perfect laptop for students and for those who don't require too much raw power.

I own the 2019 version and I gotta say this is the the best purchase I've made.
The laptop is light, sleek, fast, and pretty powerful. I rarely use it as a tablet unless I am taking notes with the stylus, which isn't bad for note taking. The battery is good, I got 6hrs-ish opening 10 tabs in Edge, Microsoft Teams, Notion and other apps.
The laptop theoretically could play some games but I don't want to take a risk for longetivity issues. Oh, and it can be charged using USB-C which lighten the load when taking it school or cafe or somewhere else.

@@serinbabu427 I bought mine in 2015 and it uses a 2 core intel processor with lower clock speeds. And the battery life is worse (like 3hrs of light office work). Not only that but two parts on it have failed in the past five years (hard drive and charger). While they look like they've improved the battery and processing power, I don't see any evidence that they've improved the longevity problems. I would be careful if I were you, buying a thousand dollar item that will last maybe a few years before breaking.

@@dhilsiva sorry to tell you but the hinges where horrible. By that time I had returned 2, the first because of a very crooked hinge and the second because something happened to the spacebar and it became so light that blowing on it would push it down. I got to my third and it had the worst hinges creeky and crooked, I had to return that one too. I got sick of having to deal with it and bought a lenovo ideapd 5 ryzen 7 4700u (but for some reason I still like the hp more). The hp had something about it I loved the form factor, performance was great and battery life was better. Im not the biggest artist but I like to draw and the pen was fantastic. With the thermals there was always something to be desired but being able to change the thermal profile helped a lot (if it was getting too hot I would put it into cool mode or whatever its called and then put it on battery saver mode.) Finally there is some hope, one of my good friends bought one and I warned him almost scaring him but he went for it anyways. It seems like HP is very aware of this problem and they immediately took it in for repair and it has been perfect for about 3 months. theres something about the build and the form factor that makes it special, and dont forget about the ryzen 5 4500u which seems to be impossible to find in any other laptop. Over all, if you can I would just go for the normal envy lineup, non x360 (if youre in canada they do not sell that laptop). Just go into the x360 knowing that there is a good chance there will be something wrong.

asus vivobook flip is SSD and Ram upgradable and it's 14 inches. the downside, it's too delicate and easy to scratch. I'm not sure why it's so difficult for manufactures make a 2in1 laptop that is sturdy and upgradable, I wouldn't mind extra 100 grams of weight just for this to happen. the zenbook flip why is sturdy it is not upgradable too (lol same brand)

Purchased this last week for 1000 USD here in New Delhi, India. It's fast, has amazing display (400 nits) with deep blacks, good battery life that gives me an average of 8 hours on a normal workday. HP has truly got everything right for users like us. Happy that I chose this over the macbook air.

You are the best notebook reviewer I have ever seen. Why? Because you tested all performance modes, showing its impacts wrt noise, temps and speed - and that's the crucial point on this notebook. It's great in quiet mode - something no other reviewer pointed out, but very crucial to me. Thanks a lot! Subscribed immediately :)

id like to add my 2 cents onto displays. Iv had a acer swift 1 and the panel is pretty bad interms of SRGB coverage like around 65-70% max i think but even when i compared it to my friends ms65 msi gaming laptop with near 100% SRGB my panel if i remember correctly had a contrast ratio of like i think 1100 or 1200:1 and you could tell. Like yeah his colors on his laptop were deeper and more varried while mine looks more washed out but the contrast though.. it just makes everything look so sharp and crisp and honestly id prefer a panel with like 80% srgb with a contrast ratio over 1000:1 over a gaming laptop panel with 98% with a ratio of around 750-800:1 contrast is so much more important than alot of people think it just makes everything look so much better and richer and sharper.
