      They retroactively realized that:
      • AMD is killing it
•Consumers are becoming more tech savvy and cost concious
So if they didn't increase the margins, like Linus said they're gouging their higher-tier Intel lineup way too aggressively to be good for their profits

I'm actually really digging the AMD APU's for laptops.
It's just the perfect compromise between office work and playing a game when needed and/or doing even some serious CAD work as well as video editing.
the Intel integrated graphics always used to be way to limited in this.
In a professional environment these AMD APU's are powerful enough ,which means I don't have to rely anymore on a dedicated workstation.
Just hook up a monitor, mouse and keyboard when needed and I am ready to go.
When on the road or on a plane I still have enough oomph to prepare the job for the next client

The least compelling argument that I hear leveled at Intel is them being 'stuck' on 14nm.
Even Linus went out of his way to try to correct the ignorance and direct the conversation in a progressive direction. Intel could make whatever sized nodes they want but their current architecture is most well optimized for the 14nm process. Until their Skylake+ architecture is completely reworked, they are going to continue to pursue gains in 14nm. 5.1ghz stock was unheard of just a couple years ago it's not like they are literally selling you the same chip with a different sticker on it.

The tablet mode basically replaced my iPad for entertainment and for work - it blazes through office tasks and I've even used Premiere Pro on it a little, I definitely wouldn't use it as my primary editing machine, but for starting an edit on the go, it's solid and having the USB-C port is a great boon there.
Honestly, not having used a higher aspect ratio, it doesn't bother me in anyway and I guess my hands must be on the smaller side as I found the keyboard very comfortable and the keys are nice and give a nice little tactile bump at the bottom of the key press!

I really wanted to buy an AMD GPU last year, but the problems that people were having with them, along with the horrible drivers, steered me into nvidia's direction. It's been 4 months of use and laptop lags while using chrome. Just CHROME. Now the hinge connector got loose, and it shattered the screen when I was closing the laptop. They're now asking me to pay a price (under warranty under 4 months of use) for a goddamn hinge replacement. Hp customer support sucks (at least in India). I own one of these with the r7 8core and its incredibly capable even for gaming, the only oversight is that you cant wake it up if its in tablet mode unless you go back to laptop mode bc the keyboard (where the power button is placed) is locked out so you dont accidentally type while handling it. If you have the pen paired to it over bluetooth you can wake it up using the pen buttons but its still somewhat annoying.
