@@Shaihan I got the HP ENVY x360 ar0126-au one 3 days ago because it was the only one available in my area. Although the processor was from last year (a Ryzen 7 3700u), it still feels fast and snappy, has 4 speakers (one on the top of the keyboard, two on the side below where you hand rests, and one in the bottom) which sounds great for an ultra book, has a pen and touchscreen and a physical camera shut-off switch. Yes I will say, it is an excellent machine for me who loves small, light laptops with a lot of performance (but don't expect performance from a gaming laptop).
Actually bought this after this review (typing this on it now!) - so far, very impressed. The tablet mode basically replaced my iPad for entertainment and for work - it blazes through office tasks and I've even used Premiere Pro on it a little, I definitely wouldn't use it as my primary editing machine, but for starting an edit on the go, it's solid and having the USB-C port is a great boon there. Honestly, not having used a higher aspect ratio, it doesn't bother me in anyway and I guess my hands must be on the smaller side as I found the keyboard very comfortable and the keys are nice and give a nice little tactile bump at the bottom of the key press!
No joke. My work machine is a Dell Latitude with an i7-9850H and, even when I've got a task running at ~30-50% CPU, it sounds like it's going for takeoff! The thermals on this unit are just terrible!

The absolute domination of AMD over Intel kinda makes me wish they would get involved in mobiles cpus and create a new architecture that would dominate Qualcomm and their monopoly.
Qualcomm’s domination largely comes from their modem instead of processor POWAH. Tegra was very powerful but without modem, few companies actually bothered
AMD does have ARM license if 1 day they decided to compete in the mobile cpu market. Though, it doesn't make any financial sense. That segment is just way overcrowded these days.

I own one of these with the r7 8core and its incredibly capable even for gaming, the only oversight is that you cant wake it up if its in tablet mode unless you go back to laptop mode bc the keyboard (where the power button is placed) is locked out so you dont accidentally type while handling it. If you have the pen paired to it over bluetooth you can wake it up using the pen buttons but its still somewhat annoying.

16:10 Aspect Ratio, the Golden Ratio, that was pretty common on monitors in 2010 and is coming back to laptops. I find this really funny for Linus to use as a nitpick.
@@happygimp0 Perhaps, perhaps not, but if the completely unnecessary transition to 16:9 hadn't happened, I'm not sure we'd even be having this conversation. Though with that said, 4:3 has more vertical space than 3:2, hence it is better.

You always feel like some of these OEMs have agreements with Intel to out AMD CPUs in lower end models....cause they must know it's the best mobile CPU
I guess it's because new laptop CPUs are actually the mid-range CPUs and they high end AMD CPUs for mobile will be coming with Zen 3. Funny how Intel's CPUs lose to AMDs midrange
The interesting thing is that why would people buy their higher-end models if they get better value per performance on the low-mid range models. Obviously, the non-techy people are none the wiser so that is the only thing Intel has for them or some models are outfitted with features only available with Intel.

Hi I'm a university student and the Envy is my daily driver. I've bought this laptop before watching this review and I'm pleased to hear that this is such a great machine! I have some notes to add that weren't addressed here. The screen glare is quite bad and it's basically a mirror in all light conditions, and the metal chasey is lovely and durable however it is a dust MAGNET and I find myself constantly cleaning this laptop. However it is very scratch-resistant, I've had a few scares carrying to and from class and it remains pristine. The biggest issue I've encountered, which might not be the fault of HP itself, is driver issues. My Envy came with Windows 11, and so far it's not very keen on the HP drivers for the screen rotation, tablet mode, and even the sound driver! I've owned this laptop for less than 6 months and so far I've had to reinstall drivers multiple times because they keep breaking. I have the 15" model, so it's a bit embarrassing to fumble around with such a large laptop to flip it into tablet mode, only for it to not switch and I find myself with a laptop folded in half with the display upside down. Again, I'm not really sure who is at fault for this, but it is the most notable downside for me when I find myself in class ready to switch the Envy into tablet mode to take notes, only to find the screen won't rotate and I have to do a manual restart or driver reinstall. That's my 2 cents on it. I personally don't find any of these things to be a dealbreaker for me and I would've still bought it had I known these issues beforehand, it's just been a bit of a nasty surprise and a heads-up would've been appreciated. One thing I regret is the size. It's too large for a convertible in my opinion, and I would've gone with a smaller model in retrospect. It's a HEAVY laptop and it's big, which makes it very awkward to handle and use in tablet mode, and it's not the most portable (it weighs 2kg!). I recommend to go smaller if you plan to use the tablet mode a lot, like I am. Otherwise I love it, I wouldn't have gone for any other one.
Not really a theory. They always got stuck with low tier product lines and proving they deserve top teir shells is being more effecient and powerful at the same time. I'm just waiting for anyone else to use a 4900h/hs in a laptop to see how far they really good.

Hey man, just to bring to your attention, I bought the envy x360 (India) and got a defective piece, they rejected a replacement when I demanded it in December, ignoring the tilted hinge, problematic headphone jack and other defects. It's been 4 months of use and laptop lags while using chrome. Just CHROME. Now the hinge connector got loose, and it shattered the screen when I was closing the laptop. They're now asking me to pay a price (under warranty under 4 months of use) for a goddamn hinge replacement. Hp customer support sucks (at least in India). Being a student the laptop's price was a premium and now I've to pay more for this. If someone from hp is reading this comment please help me out

As a Linux user, I'm hoping for good things from Big Navi and AMD GPUs in general. However, if I were running Windows, I would probably still be running Nvidia GPUs most of the time. Oddly, it seems that it's getting to the point where the AMD open source drivers for Linux are at least approaching (if not already past) the point where they are better than the Windows drivers. The proprietary OpenCL (for compute applications rather than graphics applications) drivers are still better, but I have to wonder for how long.

Or has any background related to computers?" _I don't but you do so I expected that you would already know by now that intel is the best thing you can get for laptops in all circumstances_ "then i suggest you ask the same questions to other retailers and prove me that i am wrong" It wont always work, some absolutist have the Kruger effect but at least they will accept it with a pinch of salt. _Fine i dont wanna argue with you. I absolutely love the decision to keep 16:9 aspect ratio. I hate that every laptop is going for more square look while every phone is going for ultra wide. 16:9 is a standard in content. Let's keep it that way
Do you guys not understand? When laptops have 16:10 or 3:2 ratios, its only increasing the vertical width which would otherwise be bezel. And same for phones, theyre only increasing the space to use what would otherwise be bezel. You arent losing anything by these moves. Yeah, I agree MKBHD reviews are basic but that's the idea. The people that watch his channel aren't tech geeks like a lot of LTT viewers and just knowing that Marques says its good is all they need. It's not like Marques doesn't know what he's talking about, he could go in-depth if he wanted too.
It's mind blowing. I've been watching Linus since back when I hated him and his voice, but he was the only person talking about enthusiast PC products and interesting cooling theories in a way that that caught my attention. Now he's a full blown multi-media video production studio with footage that looks better than billion dollar corporate advertisements. He's a unicorn IMO.

Qualcomm’s domination largely comes from their modem instead of processor POWAH. Tegra was very powerful but without modem, few companies actually bothered

You can tell when there is a sponsor because his mood quickly changes
I'm in love with those close up shots 😍😍.

I managed to get two of these hp envy x360 r5 config.on sale recently for $832 a piece for my kids to home school. This price included 2 year accident coverage.
Really good machines.
How are the laptop hinges doing so far?
Given how much we're seeing people asking for AMD laptops, I'm guessing manufacturers will have started designing some by now. When do you think we'll actually start to see some good options being announced?
"This is my whole weekend".. Mantra extraordinaire
I absolutely love the decision to keep 16:9 aspect ratio. I hate that every laptop is going for more square look while every phone is going for ultra wide.
16:9 is a standard in content. Let's keep it that way
yea thats what i was thinking. isnt most content designed to be consumed on a 16:9 screen??
Do you guys not understand?
When laptops have 16:10 or 3:2 ratios, its only increasing the vertical width which would otherwise be bezel. And same for phones, theyre only increasing the space to use what would otherwise be bezel. You arent losing anything by these moves. Only thing is the black bars, but those would be bezel if not screen(in your world of everythinf 16:9)
Taller screens are much better to work with eg. word, browsing, coding, photoshop.
To the person who is making the subtitles in Spanish, thank you very much
"This is my whole weekend" hahahaha
Thanks for the review. I got the 15" top spec version for $600 on Black Friday yesterday. It seems like a fantastic little machine for small tasks while if I'm traveling (If that ever happens again). I have no intention of using it over my desktop but it seems capable enough for such a low price point.
Got this pc just today... And coming from an 4 year old Lenovo.. oh my gosh!!! This pc is amazing! Speed, sound quality, touchscreen, style, and the price too! I can even game "quite well" on it. Love AMD Ryzen 4000.
Got the 500gb model for 700€
Getting it today :)
