- Remember the soapy water for seating the first side too. I didn't show that. Makes it much easier.

Four years later this video is still helping people. Thanks man. Can confirm this works for motorcycle tires too.
I just wanna point out that this video just saved my life.
I'm glad your alive!
You and me both!!! Saved me
Me three
Me four
Shut up
This video was a lifesaver. Bought tires online and when they arrived the sidewalls almost touched. Tried for hours to get the tire to seat on the rim by all methods i know. Gave up and went to youtube searching for answers. Found this video and had the tire mounted in about 10 min. Hardest part was forcing the bead on the backside. Thanks man awesome video.
Fantastic video. Before this I spent four yes four hours with ropes and straps and soap and getting sore palms and then I decided to try this and within five minutes I had the seals all in. I think the tyre under the tyre plus good strong boots plus a wee bit of finesse on seeing
where the gap is moving as you pump in the air all key ingredients.
My tyre was a lawn tractor front tyre 13 by 5-6. My air supply was not from compressor but from a 9v cig lighter running the emergency inflater in my wife's SUV. I had managed to seat one side of the tyre by hand before I started with this vid for the other.
Can't thank you enough EB.
From an Englishman in France
Im glad it helped !
Thanks for the report man... I only have a cigarette plug inflator, and your story give me hope that I can do this.
Cheers!
I just wasted an hour trying to mount my tire and finally got frustrated looked up easier ways without using fire and this worked the first time within 30 seconds. I felt stupid but thank God we have the internet to share information like this
Awesome! i'm glad it's working
i thank you for the video. i was mounting up thin tires and wheels that matched up perfectly but said no way. i pulled up the rear bead to seat after watching your video and moved the front bead like you showed. the front bead sealed. thank you. teach me something and i'll never forget it.
This is why I love TH-cam! Years old and still helping!!
OMG. I can't believe that worked! Honestly, I think you are doing really revolutionary stuff to stop these giant moneymakers that make us think we have to have services done. In this case, go to a tire shop. Awesome stuff!
Your tire mounting technique helped me to seat a 235/75R 15 tire onto the wheel with very little fuss. Thank you!
Awesome!
Thanks for the tip about setting it on the old tire. I have a tip for everyone. When trying to seat the bead, ALWAYS remove the valve core first for more air volume. Some air chucks won't put air in a tire with the valve core removed. If that's the case, you need a different one that will.
I use a black piece which is rubber. Jam it against the Shraeder valve with the stem removed.
Of ALL the other TH-cam bead setting tricks, this is the ONLY ONE that worked for me!!!! THANKS!!!!!
Fantastic!
Thanks for posting this video. I watched many video's on the subject, but your method was the only one that worked for me. I dont own a compressor, but your method was still effective even with only a footpump. Many thanks.
Nice! good to know!
Sir, you are awesome. This is the first time I have seen this done!! You have just helped me save $$ because the tire shop wanted to charge me $15 to seat my tire!! Highway robbery at the least. Thank you so much for this video, I will send this link to all my Facebook friends and on messenger. I will add post to link saying, must watch, it will save you $$
thanks! glad it helped!
Thank you. I couldn't get a truck tire to seat. I had to use the tire iron to seat the last bit but was able to get one side. Then followed the rest of what you showed. edit: six years later this video is still helping. I didn't see when this was posted, still helping people.
Thank you so much! I tried everything to make bead contact with the rim. I tried for hours. This did the trick in a jiffy. Thank you to guys like you!
Hey thanks for the video! I had been struggling for an hour with one tire. I did like you said, pull one bead on but I couldn't even get all of that one side on so I flipped it over layer it on another tire and added air and POP! It aired right up. So as long as it was tight it held air.👍
Thank you so much for this video. So much easier and safer than trying to use the starting fluid technique.
yea, but he was talking longer then starter fluid takes.
@MTips18 Starter fluid is dangerous. You're going to either blow yourself up or singe all your hair off. 😂
¡Gracias!.
De nada. :)
Thank you thank you thank you. Saved me big time. Was fighting and fighting with a tire. Now this is such a great trick
you bet. glad it worked ;)
Man I did all that strap and rope tying, to try to get this new tire beaded for my 36 inch walk behind. I watch this video and was amazed at the simplicity of it. Oh and it worked way better than those other videos. Thanks a lot.
That is so good to hear. thank you for the report. :)
I bought a ratchet strap to try and close the gap but all it did was deform the tire making a larger gap! This man saved the day with his video.
I have been struggling with tire just like yours, way smaller than the rim. I have tried multiple methods to no avail. In frustration, I tried your method and took less than a minute and BAM the bead set!! I ended up standing on the wheel with both feet and wiggle back and forth and all of a sudden there was the POP. Thank You!!!!
I always did it by putting some silicone sealant around the tire rim and it always works, no need to even seat beads on one side of tire. But since silicone sealant became so expensive, I have to learn a new way. Your method works, but one additional trick I needed was to spray soap water all around the rim as I press down on the tire/pump in the air. With soap water it's really easy to see where the gap is where the air is escaping and adjust to seal it. Thanks
MAAAN I'm telling you..this video saved my bacon...I never ran into a problem till today...wish I could like a thousand times 👍👍👍
Awesome! 😁
A simple but surprisingly useful technique, thank you for posting. I couldn't get the inner bead to set first, the rubber was very stiff (new tires). But I pounded it in far enough with a mallet that I was still able to push the top side down and seal that bead too.
Yes I have had to do the same on some tires. I wasn't able to get the first side to seat all the way, but it was set enough to hold until the other side sealed and the air pressure took over.
Saved a camping trip thanks 😊🙏
awesome! glad it helped
Thanks it worked. The second step I had trouble getting it to seal and pop on. Instead I set the tire on the edge of the bottom tire pushed rotating around a few times to get the seal started. Then added air and it popped right on like you said!
Ha, not sure why I didn't think of this but took one try after looking at this. My Deere front tire and I thank you.
You bet :) glad it helped
Great tip saved me a lot of time and frustration -Thank You
Thanks for sharing this, I tried it and it worked GREAT! Thanks Again!
Half a dozen you tube videos and yours was the only one that worked for me.
Great video dude! The only video that worked for me other than lighting my wheels up with starter fluid.
good to hear!
I agree I haven't seen anyone else on TH-cam do this either you're the first I have seen do this period.👍🏻
I was trying to do it while still on the trailer. This helped so much. The dish soap comment answered my question!
Great tip. I've struggled to get a bead to seal since I got my own tire tools. This worked in no time flat. With the harbor freight tire changer, it's easy to bet the bottom bead to seat while the tire/wheel is still bolted to their stand, then toss it on a spare tire with no wheel and it will seat right now. Thanks for putting this out. I'd buy you a beer if we were in the same town.
I’m going to give this a shot!
Thanks!
I used this technique, and it worked great!
good to hear!
Best diy tire video so far. Thanks man
Thank you so much. The thought of setting one bead first never occurred to me even after years of doing my own tires with ratchet straps, ropes starting fluid etc. Today I was trying to seat a new rear riding mower tire whose beads were almost touching. Even though I had to weld a 3/4” nut to my fab table a run a 3/4” all thread through the rim and block the tire 6” off the table then force the rim down to seat the first bead it still came down to watching your video. The only mistake I made was seating the valve stem side first which forced me to inflate from underneath with a locking air chuck after flipping over while at the same time bear hugging the tire to seat the second bead. Battle won. Thanks again
Aloha. Awesome!! Worked. Love hearing those pops. It’s 2 AM here in Kauai I just strapped the tire on my back like a backpack for a Full Moon bicycle ride to my truck.
This is the only demo I have seen of this on TH-cam, and it worked for me. 🙂
Great trick! Just helped me seat the upper bead on a tire that’s been sitting for so long it debeaded, thank you!
Glad it worked !
Strap or rope round middle might make it easier to bring the second side into contact...
Thank Sir(!!!) Glad for people such as yourself for posting videos with tips & tricks that maybe known or not known(!!!)
Thank you this helped a lot. I couldn’t get the air in the tire, I didn’t know the term seating the tire on the rim haha, I just know that with this I got the air in the tire. Thank you again it was super helpful.
Wow totally worked for on my first try, had my small trailer tire deflate and needed to move it so I tried this trick and it irked beautifully!
Awesome!
Tried seating a 235/75/15 on a wide Durango rim last nite for over an HOUR wrestling with it and even had no luck with my bead blaster tank . Gonna try your method today . Wish me luck & thanks for posting 👍
How it go?
I bet it worked
I wish, I would of seen this a hour and a half ago. Lost about a pint of sweat. Try this, it worked like a million bucks. THANK YOU.
Just used this video to bead a tire on my c3 corvette, so I can confirm that it works on tires with really big sidewalls
I have to say that today, I lost half a tooth trying to demount a tire myself. I was able to complete the job thanks to this video, but now I have to visit the doctor and pay even more money. I think a tire repair is way cheaper than a tooth repair.
Great idea!
I couldn't even get the bead fully seated on 1 side, but having that side partially seated made it possible to seat the bead the rest of the way with some careful pressure on the tire to push it into the wheel and an air compressor.
I used to have a gas station and tire repair. I did that quite often , I can tell you one thing I did different instead of laying it down to air up , I leaned it against the wall at about a 45 degree angle and push in on the center gently like and usually seal right up.
This may be an old video but you’re making my life easy. Thank you!!!
It makes me happy to know that ;).
I just found this technique & wished I knew about this sooner instead of getting tired all the time wrestling with tires.👍
Yep. Added this to my favorites. I beaded my truck tire using tire irons, but this method is great!
Awesome!
I change my tires a month ago. The only problem now i have is i have to pump air ones a week. Do i need to put some sealant? Or i did something rong? Help pls. Great video by the way
Dio Fer you sure it sealed all the way? Did it make a “pop” sound when you aired it up after beading it?
Sometimes the side of the bead needs to be clean from corrosion, rust and dirt. Spray some soapy water on the bead and see if there are bubbles coming out. Or there is a small hole in the tire that needs to be plugged. Or the stem needs to be replaced. All depends where the bubbles come out
When you said "set it on the old tire" (at 1:44), I felt stupid because I wasted so much time today, looking for wooden blocks or bricks to support the tire. LOL ! Thanks for the great video !
you bet :)
Five years and going strong as a lifesaving video, my guy. Your video has a long reach
Thank you man those new tires are just not stretched enough to put on the rims.
Helped out a lot thank you!! 🙏🏽
Man , that was great and free advice also !!!!!!!!!!!!!! When a neighbor needs help , it don't get any better than this !!!!!!!!!!!! THANK'S for sharing and appreciate the good advice in comments too !!!!!!!!-----------------------------------------------------------Ernest E. Johnson
im just surprised you were able to seat the tire on the bead with the pancake compressor. bravo
Thank you sir! Saved me some money!
I have a hard to bead tire that just won't seat. I've tried a bunch of different ways. I'll try this method later on and let you know. Either way, thanks for the tip.
Shops North of Boston charge $25 to put the tires I order on line to save coin, between $19-$25 per tire. Which almost negates my savings. Bro Thank You for the Knowledge!
Did you pull out the guts from air steam or no ?
Great video man. Looks like a good technique. I work in a tire shop. Me and both of the other employees are all relatively new to working in a tire shop and we have had this problem with some customers tires. Even with the equipment we have there we couldn't get some of them seated. We have had to cancel appointments and put the old tires back bc we couldn't get them seated no matter what we did. The next time I have this problem I'm gonna try your trick and see how it goes. The only other trick I've seen is putting a ratchet strap around the tread. But I've only seen thar done with lawn mower tires and such and I'm not trying to buy a whole ratchet strap set just to find out it doesn't work on car tires lol thanks for the tip!
Bro, got blood work the same day he’s mounting tires! Rest naw.. I got this! 😂😂 thanks 💪
Are you for real I wasted alot of time and tried multiple ways yet this was the only one that made dam sense and way easier since I didn't want to use spray and a lighter
This is what I'm trying to do, so far no go... but I'm glad to see it can be done.
Thanks great video, helped me heaps, made it so easy to mount these tyres on my wide rims. So easy.
Thank you, you saved my back!!! Worked first time!!!
Done a lot of tyres lately including new ones on my jeep and easiest wat to seat the beads is a 3 second squirt of Start ya Bastard and light it up !! .. Take the valve out 1st though.. Easy as
😂 LOL 😆
do you leave the valve-stem-core in when you do this method ?
Yes you can.
Good job contributing useful knowledge and sharing with the world.
I can’t believe it but it literally worked great! Thank you very much! 🍻
You bet!
You’re a genius!!!!!!!❤
this is an old video but I'm at the point where I'm considering putting a tube in- I'm hoping your technique will work. Thanks just the same for making this.
Good shintt !! Thank you !!
just did it on a 2 45/75 r17 worked liked a charm
Would if I don't have an extra tire like that?
I just mounted 4 used BFG AT's using this method, my mechanic couldn't get the beads seated using his machine, I used this guys method, worked like a charm.
Awesome!
Joseph Miller If your mechanic couldnt do this you should never use him for tires again. Any tire guy worth his salt should know this technique like the back of their hand. Only its actually easier than shown. You don't fit the back bead by hand you only need to give it a few swift kicks in the right place and it's done.
You are a genius !
Worked like a charm. Thanks
Great video tried the strap and didn't work, wasn't gonna try the starting fluid method lol this took 5 minutes 😀
Awesome! good to hear ;).
I am about to mount a tire. Thanks for the video.
You sir are the man, helped me out after i felt defeated...
What if you have 3 inches to make up? These hanook optimo are literally 2 inches bead to bead
great idea , what sealant do you use around the rim because mine has a new rim and will go flat a few days later?
I just used soapy water to get it to slip on easier. I don't think it is necessary to use sealant. Your rims probably need to be wire brushed cleaned with a soft wire brush. It may have build-up of something--Check either the rim on the metal or the rubber rim on the tire for bumps of corrosion or dirt
Just saved me $114 bux great info and video
awesome! I'm glad it helped!
my guy great video i live in a small town far from the city i order tires for my car trailer and my tire shop was closed so i had to do this my self i strugle alot to get this done as many of the guys her i look for easy ways to do this and wow in less than 10 minutes i got them done man i thank you for such a great video so helpfull A+++ thanks again bro 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your video is only one that helped me, thank you, great job.
Can you set the tire bead with a tire inflator?
Thank you for making the video, also nice to see what air compressor you are using.
Yep it’s pretty well known but I’m not sure I’ve seen any videos.
You can also use a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire, positioned near the bead not seated to help it make contact.
I haven't seen it before , but it's a good idea. Thanks.
Excellent!
You are a life saver. The fire trick wasn’t working for me but this did. Thank you.
I'm glad it worked!
Thanks for posting. Just what I was searching for.
Took me a couple of hours to figure out the same method a few years back. The human brains definitely have a similar design 😄
You have a nice chill style. Way to go. Keep it going.
Your the Man!! Thanks worked like a charm
Thanks👍👍👍
